How about 3P?

Alpha Playtest Feedback General Discussion

Okay, with WotC we had 3E, 3.5E, and 3.XE.

Now along comes Pathfinder RPG. We've been clamoring for it, telling Paizo they should make 3.75E, but they actually surprised the hell outta us and went ahead and did it.

But 3.75E just doesn't have much appeal. Neither does 3.Paizo, as some folks locally have taken to calling it (Watcher, who started that? I lost track.).

How about 3P? Short. Simple. Just as easy to say as "Three-E", and easier than "Three-Point-Five".

3P sounds like a winner to me...like it a hell of alot better than 3.75

Liberty's Edge

I saw someone on these boards say 'Pai20' and I'm not sure if I love that or not because I can't stop glaring at it.

3P is pretty short and sweet though and its not much of a change in vernacular for most.

i think 3P is cool

What's the official thoughts?

Why does everything have to have an abbreviation or marketing tag?
The lowest I'd be able to stoop to is PRPG because it actually means something.

LOL! QFT FTW!

FWIW IMHO... ur... I disagree. ;) Language is inherently lazy. If we can combine or condense something, and the community that we speak with can still understand the term, then it will eventually be condensed. With typing involving even more physical effort than speaking, the push to condense is even greater.

Personally, I don't see how 3P is any more obscure than PRPG. They both seem just as clear to me, especially given already commonly used abbreviations. I certainly don't expect the books to be emblazoned with it (unless it's a cool logo), but for internet discussion, if it works, it works. *shrug*

I always go for 3.Pi

3.75 or 3.Paizo...Didnt really like either.

3P really works for me. I'm gonna start using it. :)

I call it PFRPG

Liberty's Edge

Its too bad we can't call it Pi, considering we passed the half way mark at 3.5

3.141592653 edition ;)

3P sounds good though.

Scarab Sages

I'll adopt the 3P meme.

I use both.

There is a slight difference, meaning-wise. "3P" can read as Paizo's version of DnD 3.x. PRPG sounds like a separate role-playing game and system.

We have ADnD so how about PDnD?

I guess they can't use anything containing "D&D".

Well I am talking about an unofficial name for it. Like a nick name, like what I thought we were talking about it.

I've just been referring to it as PRPG. It's as close to a TLA as possible and includes the "RPG" signifier which is pretty universally understood in our hobby.

Paizo Employee Director of Games

Personally, I can work with PRPG, PFRPG (although this one is already taken), and 3P. It seems to me that they are all pretty even in usage right now. I will chat with the staff and see if there is an abbreviation we prefer.

P20 anyone?

Dark Archive

3P, or 3.Paizo sounds good to me.

After all, some of this is an advancement in the edition (effectively 3.75) and others are a complete side-turn (going Paizo's unique direction).

No thanks. Unless the PRPG makes it to 20th ed.

3P works for me its short and sweet and rhymes with tea. I think I'll have a cup pretty please.
