Meet the Iconics: Sajan

Lost Omens Campaign Setting General Discussion

I have to say this Iconic has thrilled me to no end. Not only does Sajan have a fantastic back story, but his origins is from a part of Galarion that I'm eager to learn more about. (Personally I'm fascinated with the far-east and Persia, which explains why Al Qadim is my favorite D&D setting).

If/When you do short stories or novels for Pathfinder Mike, I hope Sajan (or better yet is absent sister) is a character. I'm itching to know more about him.

These Iconics just keep getting better and better and better. I can't wait for you guys to start writing some fiction about them!

Definitely another top notch character. Vundra sounds like a fascinating area of Golarion. I really like the back story just left me wanting the Golarion Gazetteer all the more.

It'll be interesting to see how these people get along with one another that's for sure.

Agreed, one of the best so far.

I thought the Paladin Iconic was a great write up. This one is at least as good and comes with its own adventure hooks built in. These pregens just keep getting better and better. I've shifted from thinking they were dead space in the books to thinking that they show off what can be done with just the core rules. I'm actually looking forward to the minis for the other Iconics now.

I just gotta say I'm just glad he didn't wind up having to fight and kill his sister and then travel to Absalom in angst-ridden despair. I thought the backstory was going down that cliched road there, but thankfully it didn't and wound up very interesting. Great character and plenty of fun hooks!

Awesome! :squee:

That backstory's an AP all by itself.

I suspect Merisiel would be the jealous prankster while Valerous dotes over the clueless Seoni. Kyra just rolls her eyes watching the three thinking that Sarenrae will redeem them all. :)

He instantly becomes a great NPC to help PCs because they can help him later on if they get to know him.

Maybe it's just me but I never envisioned a monk looking so badass. I want a life size cardboard cutout of him. Can I get that image scaled up to 6ft and the name of a good printer?

Wow! The world just got a lot bigger and a lot cooler. Fantastic write up.

Which, I think, makes him less-suited to play as a pre-gen in an Adventure Path. This is a character with a purpose. It would be sad to run him through an entire AP and retire him, never giving him the chance to find his sister.

Well he is an Iconic for Second Darkness.. maybe they'll put his sister into the AP. Either way, seems like more people are using the Iconics as NPCs then as pregren PCs.

Sajan rocks! Now I NEED to know more about Vudra.

Coolest iconic yet! And dare I say, coolest looking (Merisiel's a close second!)

I am all about seeing some more of Vudra. Setting book can't come fast enough for me!

Great story (personally, I waited to read how he found his sister - dead).

Awful name, though. I keep reading "Satan" It even sounds similar.

I'm really intruged by Vudra as well! I've never read about a setting similar to India and it'll be interesting to see what you guys do with it.

You need only pronounce it like the Vudrani do: Sah-JAHN (or SAH-jahn?). Not SAY-jann. :)

Personally, I keep on seeing "Saban", which can be just as bad.

I actually like it, the names of the iconics have been so far... well Iconic, I think they really set the tone of their group/race/affiliation. Especially Lem and Sajan.

That could work. But I think as soon as any of my players sees that name in a book, they'll be tenacious-d'ing away like a trooper, shouting HAIL SAY-jann in funny voices.

Yes, well, far be it from me that I should prevent someone from quoting Tenacious D. ;)

Sajan isnt one of the four characters in the back of the pathfinder 7. Is he an npc?

He's one of our 11 iconics. I imagine he'll show up in Second Darkness, but I've been wrong before.

He's the iconic monk. He'll show up in Pathfinder 13, I suspect, along with the iconic barbarian, the iconic druid, and the iconic mystery character whose role has yet to be announced.

Unless of course you go 4e with the third path.

Then, chances are good we'll never get to meet those characters in the same way. :(

He looks like a serious badass king-fu maniac. I love it. Did anyone figure out what that is in his hand?

Sure did...

There is a discussion with an explanation and crunch in this thread.

What about the spliff in his other hand? Knuckle-dusters?

And, as I wrote on another thread, most of the other iconics will either get changed (which amounts to the setting serving the rules and not the other way around - hopefully something Pathfinder will never have to endure) or they go the way of the elephant bird.

If it wasn't for the fact that it seems to go around his fingers I would have guessed small ("ninja") throwing knifes/darts. But chances are it's more likely knuckle-dusters.

Dark Archive

After reading his backstory, I have a sneaking suspicion that he's gonna search high and low for his sister, get into all sorts of trouble, get captured, be near death, and then the mysterious hooded figure swoops in and saves him.

Sajni whips off her hood and says, 'There you are! I've been looking all over! Figures you'd get yourself into trouble...'
