It looks like they used the Player's Guide diversion to sneak that cover up without us noticing.
So, who's that druid guy? (Druid is a guess from the tiger-head/magic-hands version of him in the background...)
That "druid guy" on the cover of Pathfinder 9 would in fact be our iconic monk. No... he doesn't have a name yet. No... I'm not entirely sure what kind of weapon he's wielding. We'll probably have a "Meet the Iconics" blog about him in a few weeks, though!

So a monk he is :)
Well mr tigerhead rakshasasa there can and will make himself appear to be loved ones and friends so maybe this one was masquerading as the next iconic, your off the hook.

Call me crazy, but it appears he is holding a kopesh-like sword in one hand and a fat homemade "cigarette" in the other?
Nope! If you look closely, under the "cigarette" looking thing, next to his fingers on either side, is little slivers of more. It makes sense for it to be a knuckle weapon of some kind.

Darn, I was hoping it was a joint; I had already named him "Maurice".

You're right. I looked closer and it does appear to be something else. For a while, I thought our new iconic was taking monastic meditation to a different level.
And again, the art work is great. I look forward to the blog write-up.
