Jeez, an anticlimatic ending and everyone says the whole series sucked. Alright, considering I don't wanna spoil it for some who haven't got 7 yet...
Just cause its the last main issue doesn't mean its over. Go read ASM this week and you'll feel better. Guess now we know why he's wearing the black suit again. Oh, and I'm sure more answers will be coming in the next few weeks. Have patience.

That is so untrue, Civil War was really good (it like anything else did have some low points).
There really was no only way to end it. Did you expect the hero's to kill each other?

I disliked it. The powers that be at Marvel want to shake-up the genre of super-hero comics, not just the status quo. Instead of the heroes finding a way to win, Marvel is giving us heaping helpings of tragedies (Avengers Disassembled) and no-win situations (Civil War).
That is not what I buy comic books for, that is what I watch the evening news for.
I'm not saying comics can't be thought-provoking and intellectually stimulating. I loved "The Watchmen" and "God Loves, Man Kills" as much as any comics reader. I love stories of sacrifice for the greater good (Jean Grey surrendering so that Dark Phoenix could be defeated, Barry Allen saving the DC Universe).
But I don't love death for death's sake (or for selling some extra books), uncharacteristic actions, and seemingly in-office contests about which character's life they can make the $#!tiest (Spidey, no wait Daredevil, no wait Cap, hmm maybe Reed & Sue).
I wish the powers that be at Marvel realized, that with great power (to tell whatever stories they want) they have a great responsibility (to be stewards of these great characters that existed before they came along and will hopefully exist long after they are gone.)
Sorry for the rant.

I agree with a lot of what you said, Torpedo. I read it in the store with the owners and at the end just threw it down in irritation with a few mutterings of disgruntlement that I shouldn't repeat here. It just really pisses me off that the mighty Marvel manner now equals slip shod and no eye to continuity from two months ago, let alone the past couple of years. That coupled with the fact that they couldn't keep to a frickin' publishing schedule if it was rubber-cemented to Joe Quesada's scrodum makes me wonder each week if it will be the week I divorce myself from Marvel.
Don't get me wrong, I think there are some really good bits from Civil War... the meeting of Cap and Tony in the shattered remains of the Avenger's mansion, the Thing expatriating to France, Peter realizing where his allegences were and stepping up to his mistake. There are parts I thought were very well done. The art was beautiful. But on the whole, stupid gaps in continuity, and the couple of months between issuses really just made me more mad than anything.
Marvel could learn quite a bit about 'big events' from DC... Identity Crisis, leading into Infinite Crisis, leading into 52 (a book that's been comeing out WEEKLY and managing to keep its continuity straight while telling gut-tugging character driven stories). It's all flowed very well. Giving good hints about what happened in the in-between times, but not telling everything so when the pay-off comes, it's super cool (this last issue which ties up the Ralph Dinby/Dr. Fate storyline was sad and beautiful.)
I'm glad Civil War is over, I'm gonna miss 52 like hell, though.

I haven't read Civil War. But I have read THIS. It's some dude's photoshopped parody of Civil War, and it's funny as hell. It's a Phantom Edit type of thing.
As far as I've heard from those who have read Civil War, this "parody" actually manages to remain more true to the "character" of the characters.
WARNING: Language and thematic elements in the parody would give it a PG-13 or R rating. Probably R.
But funny as hell.

Here is a direct link to Civil War in 30 seconds. It is a fun parody in Rich Burlew's "Order of the Stick" style. Enjoy.
Nice use of a wind-up key on "Clor"!

well, am at work and that site is blocked for me so am still wondering what meh is...
hehe...
Gav had it right. It's the sound of ambivalence.
You can just as easily say "Whatever" or "Pfft" or "I just cannot bring myself to expend the effort to care"... Or whichever definition you choose. Meh.
So how was Marvel Civil War?
Meh.

Holy shit! That was hilarious! I nearly pissed on myself laughing. The Infinite Crisis in 30 Seconds was just as awesome.
