From another thread:
It will indeed follow Age of Worms' pattern, that is:
"City of Broken Idols": 13th–14th
"Serpents of Scuttlecove": 15th–16th
"Into the Maw": 17th
"Wells of Darkness": 18th
"Enemies of my Enemy": 19th
"Prince of Demons": 20th.
SERPENTS of Scuttlecove? (Sorry for Caps, I don't know how to do bold)
Dragons? Yuan-Ti pirates? What do you think is going on here?
Lets get this speculation snowball rolling! (Don't just restrict yourselves to serpents of scuttlecove)

The Savage Tide plot is no real secret; we did a pretty extensive outline of the entire 12-part campaign back in issue #138, after all. That doesn't mean that I'm gonna give away what the serpents in Scuttlecove are... but those who've read the first Scuttlecove adventure back in Dungeon #95 probably have a good idea what kind of serpents to look forward to.

The serpents will be yuan-ti (as they were in James' adventure "Porphyry House Horror", #95). I wonder if there'll be any Orlath Demons.
Other speculation on my part:
At the end of "Serpents of Scuttlecove" (or the start of "Into The Maw"), the Sea Wyvern will be outfitted to somehow ply the planar river Styx, with Harliss Javell (from Bullywug Gambit) acting as the Captain.
One or more of the Jade Ravens are available as cohorts for the PCs. The remainder become minions of Demogorgon, joining up with a returning Vanthus.
EDIT: Actually, having just checked the "Savage Tide Overview" (#138), it seems they are yuan-ti assassins.
Oh, and BTW, James, thanks for posting the level ranges. :-)

Sorry, I hadn't seen that. I sort of only started really getting dungeon and dragon at the start of Savage tide (I've subsequently got the entire Age of Worms AP). I wasn't looking for spoilers, just seeing what ideas people had had about what was to come.
By the way, huge congratulations Mr. Jacobs and everyone else on Savage Tides. My group (effectively the three musketeers) are loving it, and they've only got to BWG!

Now let me see, what kind of things were in the draft for this adventure?
Oh yes, those.............with some shaved..........of course the horrible..........., acid............and a guest appearance for the first time I can recall of the horrible........
And oh yes - chains, lots and lots and lots of spiked chains, now just why were they in?
Oh yes - NOW I remember...
Oh yes.....

I'm barely resisting the urge to play Monster Manual Mad Libs here.
Can you at least promise not to throw any overly-abused polymorphed gulguthydras at us?

I hope for a horrible awakened whale druid and a shaved ghaele eladrin bard. Somehow, though, I suspect C will end up as a courtier with no disguise this go around.

If true, quite appropriate for my group who have already said they want a ship fitted with a cloud keel so it can fly, planar sails so it can go plane hopping and a permenant Mordenkainens (sp?) Magnificent Mansion on the inside (Yes, a tardis without the time hopping stuff).

Hmm, would they be draconic, fiendish, vampiric, quarter troll, quarter illithid, pseudonatural, lycanthropic dire snails?
Spiked chains; hmm, Kinky!
Sounds like a Saw Movie! (Just as long as there are no bear traps, you hear! Inverted or otherwise!)

I'm hoping so, especially since it was a 3.0 demon and that leaves it with far too many sp-like abilites/too much of a glass-jaw for me to trust in a 3.5 game. After all, we've seen the alterations and upgrades some 3.0 demons have undrgone through FCI (the khlurichir of Fiend Folio dropped 8 pts in CR, if I recall correctly).

Agreed!
I'm also hoping for an updated image of the Orlath. I wasn't too keen on the one in Porphyry House. A bit too abstract for my taste.

NOW: I'm not confirming or denying that the orlath gets updated in "Serpents of Scuttlecove," but I'm curious as to what you meant by the "Porphyry House Horror" version being too abstract?

Are you talking about the artwork of the Orlath? I thought it was a fairly "realistic" depiction. I mean most of the artwork for PHH had a somewhat cartoonish feel to it, but I actually thought the Orlath illustration seemed a little more "realistic" (for a made up and very strange looking creature) than some of the other pics (say for the violated ogre or the necromancer drug dealer).

I would certainly hope/ beg/ plead/ that we get a nice long description of Scuttlecove. Nice and gritty. Of course it may be difficult to keep the adventure PG 13 with the way that place was described in "The P House Horror Hizzy".
As a side note. I went and bought that old issue of Dungeon online just because of the tie in with STAP and Scuttlecove. All I could think at the end of the adventure was that I wanted MORE and I know my players will too!

Oops. My bad. I didn't have the issue in front of me earlier. Now that I look at it, the image I meant to describe as "abstract" was the one of Demogorgon on page 89. I think it's the same one from the BoVD. I prefer a more robust depiction of the Prince of Demons, like the one on the cover of Dungeon 120. No offense to the talented Scott Fischer!

Okay... okay... the orlath is indeed going to be in "Serpents of Scuttlecove." It's going to have a brand new picture and it's pretty cool, but also a bit different than the picture in PHH. My original design for them was of a snake with two baboon heads with 12 arms radiating out from the neck like the petals of a flower, sort of like how the phaerimm from Forgotten Realms look. The art for PHH obviosuly didn't go that route. The art we've got for the critter in "Serpents of Scuttlecove" is a 3rd route, and I think it's actually the best of the three.
It's still a 2-headed demon with 12 arms and a snake body. It looks more like a weird double-marilith now though. Which is cool, and more or less makes it Demogorgon's attempt to make a personalized marilith.
Anyway, it does indeed look cool. In fact, all the art for the Scuttlecove adventure is incredible; Ben and Warren really outdid themselves on this one!

Ah! Yeah, that picture of Demogorgon was trouble. Had the wrong heads on him and everything. Rest assured that we're going with the Dungeon #120 version as our Demogorgon.

And thirded :)
Having had the pleasure (insert evil laugh here) of running Porphyry House Horror when it first came out, I was so excited to here that Scuttlecove was being featured in STAP. And now we get a huge backdrop article and poster map for it too?! My cup runneth over... :)
Only two more months - must be patient, must be patient.... ;P

How are you kids going to handle the "Adult Themes" of Scuttlecove?
By toning down some of the elements here and there. Mostly in the artwork, but a bit in the text as well. Scuttlecove isn't going to be "sanitized," if that's what you're afraid of. There's still prostitutes and drug dealers and lots of horrific violence there; we chose Scuttlecove for a reason, after all, for this installment of Savage Tide.

Excellent! I'd like keep Scuttlecove in my campagins for events after the STAP. I loved the flavor. I enjoyed the idea that you could "hire" the Monks of the Dire Hunger to string up someone you didn't like for all to see.
Here is a question? If the party has been targeted by the Dire Hunger Monks and beats them do they still keep comming until the monestary is empty? Can you pay them to not string you up?
