A point made in another thread about a lawyer carrying a d6 in his pocket made me chuckle.
I tend to carry a 10 sider in my pocket, if I remember, when I walk out the door just in case I have make a random decision.
I recently read a book called "The Dice Man" which is about a pychologist who came up with a theory of using a d6 to make daily decisions. I guess to reduce regret and/or stress. Check it out! It is all the rage in London right now, according to a friend of mine, who recently moved there to start a job at a university.

I think I need to start making my own dice jewlery. Paizo??
Crystal Caste beat you to it.
I have dice in every location I go to. Home, Work, Car, spare set in my backpack...always ready for a game!

Celiwyn |

Ah, dice in the pockets... actually in the backpack/school bag. I had a teacher that would roll a dice to see if she collected homework and would borrow my dice so she could do things like.... roll percentals and collect on primes.
I also find teachers get a kick out of me pulling out a d4 and d6 for multiple choice tests and rolling it on my desk while taking a test.
They bring good luck... I swear, try it on your next exam. Simply having them, even if I don't use them seems to help me remember the answers.
I used to carry a d20 in my pocket until I lost a date with a gamer because he liked to gamble and said I had to roll a ten or higher. Foxxara, if you ever see this thread... THAT WAS LAME... *laughs*

I carry all my dice in a transdimensional space that floats about two feet behind me. It's like my safety blanket. When I'm sleeping they rematerialize and sloop into my milk, oh you dice, how can I stay mad at you?
Although, unimaginably horrid beasts try to escape every time I reach for a d8. Oh well, it's just like every time I call one of my uncles.

The White Toymaker |

Heh, I carry approximately three full sets of dice in the pocket of my jacket, plus the obligatory "extra" d6s and d4s -- enough d4s to cast a respectable magic missile or a crit with my light pick, enough d6s to play a decently high level rogue or spellcaster... and something like five d20s, so that I can either switch as necessary if someone curses one of them or forgot to bring one of their own.
I even have one of those d20s. You know, the ones where nobody else can see what you roll. I never cheat with it, but it bugs the crud out of the people who do lie about their rolls because they assume that I'm doing it too, but they can't prove it. *Evil Grin*

Since i have a maximum of twelve, ten, or eight kids in any one of my classes at a time i usually keep one of each of those dice on my desk when i pick groups. I assign the children all a number and roll the dice to see who goes with who. IT also works when picking on students to talk to the rest of the class about why they didn't do their homework!
For the record i teach M&R (Methods and Resource) to Chinese students who speak little to no english, coincidentally I speak little to no chinese! We all get along so well:)

I carry 1d10 and 1d20 in my pocket or on my person at all times. Just for, you know, those emergency times when I really need to play a fighter, now!

In a jacket or pant pocket? No.
My courier-style laptop bag I take to work and everywhere else?
Of course ;-) Usually I have two of those metal deck boxes in my bag. One full of dice, around 3-4 full sets plus an extra set of D6s, and some counters as well. The other has a couple of mini's wrapped in felt to protect them from accidental chipping.
And I might toss in another deck box, this time actually full of Magic Cards. I have recently started a new job, and found out the other day that lots of people in the building play Magic on breaks. I haven't played in years, but I might dust off the cards soon....

Yes, it is not a cultural phenomenon I have one student who only responds to questions with short grunts not matter what the question was. It could also have to do with the amount of mary jane he smokes, we have dubbed him the lump, as he doesn't do anything or repsond to very little just like a lump. I also have students similar to the one I just described that fall asleep if they find that the work is too hard, they don't even try. Sad I know but my aim with D6s has improved as they are the perfect projectile to wake up my lazy high school students.
But, on the up side some of my students are very energetic and won't sit still.on a side note where does your friend work in china? I am at BCCSC, i also worked at SCCSC too.

I used to. The dice bag I made burst, though, and I currently use those plastic boxes of dice that might crack if you carry them around in your pocket. I have a smaller dice bag, but it's reserved for D6s to keep them apart from my other dice in my wooden box to make it easier to find individual dice - I have precisely 20d6 in the bag. I can't carry dice loose because they get mixed up in my change.
My current dice box is identical to the one with the hand in it in The Mighty Boosh. (Except, dice.)

One of my part-time duties includes instructing, teaching in-service classes on certain topics. I carry a small water pistol when teaching and if attendees fall asleep, they only do so once, for I sneak up on them and squirt water in their ear.
No one falls asleep after the first one gets squirted.

^^^^ha!
That reminds me of "Landing Training" for us sailors in Persian Gulf Senior. I was on a landing craft and we did a week of training in the Phillipines with Marines - just in case. The punishment for falling asleep in class was the instructor would hand the sleepy guy a smoke grenade with the pin pulled. My class was pretty pert - but others got it good.
Anyways, dice at home, in my commuter bag and in my desk at work.

Carry my backpack with me everywhere.
Carry my dice in my backpack.
If an emergency game
breaks out on a bus
or a train.
I'm prepared.
If you need a rogue,
in a pinch,
while on the road.
I'm prepared.
My trusty dices are so nices to me
I roll only sixes and natch 20!
None save me can save you see
for my dice are prepared
to roll a will save for me!
Er... that was geektastic. I'm going to not do that again. Suffice to say I carry my dice in case of emergency game.

When my wife wanted to test my daughter on her multiplication tables, she went through them all systematically.
Starting with the zero-table.
Seriously.
For minutes, I kept hearing "What's zero times zero? What's zero times one? What's zero times two? What's zero times three? What's zero times four? What's zero times five? What's zero times...?"
After a long time, I couldn't help but burst out "How long are you going to go on like this?!?"
So on another day, when my daughter asked me to test her on multiplication, I was determined to give her random questions. (And I was determined NOT to touch the zero table!) And she told me to ask her any number up to eight times any number up to twelve.
Gee, what to do? What to do?

So for those of you who don't know, there's a tradition on the Jewish holiday of Chanukah, to play a game called Dreidel. A Dreidel is a simple toy that you spin like a top, which lands on one of four sides at random, with the result of one of four Hebrew letters.
This game bores me, but it seems like I have to play it every year on Chanukah as a family event, or as a school event.
Every Chanukah for more than 20 years, I wished for a blank d4 on which I could write those four letters. If I had to play Dreidel, it would be nice if I could at least inject into it a hint of an element of my own hobby.
Unfortunately, I'm a cheapskate, and keep a tight limit on my entertainment budget. For years, I kept choosing to spend my money on other things. This past year or so, for example, I kept choosing to buy Pathfinder books. And other Paizo products.
But last Chanukah, when I had to play Dreidel with my family, I finally decided that I HAD to have those blank dice. It had already happened that I had asked, on these boards, where to get a set of dice of a different specification (unrelated to Dreidel needs), and Vic Wertz helpfully pointed out where to find such a set in Paizo's online store. I was determined then to buy those dice from paizo.com. For months, I kept reluctantly putting off buying them. Like I said, I kept choosing to buy Paizo products instead (mostly.) But finally, I got around to buying them, and while I was at it, a couple of other kinds of sets of dice, including a set of blank dice.
It's funny. Somehow, in all the decades when I wished for a blank d4, it never occurred to me that a blank d8, d12, or d20 would serve just as well. Now I have them all. I got a paint marker at Michael's and marked those four dice with those Hebrew letters.
I haven't yet thought of a use for my blank d6 or blank d10, though. I doubt that I ever will. But anyway, when Chanukah rolls around, this December, if I go to some family Chanukah party, or event, I'll be carrying that set of dice in my pocket, just in case. If I use it in a game, I wonder what kind of reaction it will get?

Spectacular.
I keep wanting to get a set of off numbered dice. A 6 sided dice that is a D3 or an 8 sided D4 just to have them. Your Idea however is great I hope you have a lot of fun with them.

I don't carry real dice, but I do use two different dice roller apps on my smart phone. One, Dice Roller, has fully rendered graphic dice, features shake-to-roll, and lets you customize die and number color. The other, Dice Bag, doesn't have the nice graphics, but does let you add modifiers and label certain dice combos, which is great for running casters or keeping track of different iterative melee attacks and sneak attack damage.
Those two apps and the Pathfinder Spell Compendium app make me ready to play virtually anytime, though. Yay technology!

I sometimes use a ticking clock to make a synthetic coin-flip:
If the second hand is in the bottom-half of the hour I make a Crazy Ivan to the left; if it's in the upper-half I Crazy Ivan to the right.

Yikes. Reminds me of the time I punctured an artery in my leg with a very sharp pencil in junior high- complete freak accident. Did they need to be surgically removed?

I do. Cute story, actually.
On the day I got married, almost 9 years ago, my mother-in-law shooed me away from her house (where the wedding was being held) and told me to keep myself busy until 4 pm, when the wedding was to start. She insisted that she didn't need me at all to finish getting ready.
I had friends in town, so we spent that afternoon gaming.
I got to the house for the wedding on time, and in changing into my tuxedo I just put everything in my pants pockets into my tux pockets.
While standing up front while my wife-to-be walked down the aisle, I had a hand in my pocket and realized I'd stuck a d20 in there. I thought "wow, I'm getting married with a d20 in my pocket. How gamer is that?"
Since then, I've always carried a d20 in my pocket for good luck. It's not the same d20, but I've almost always got one in my pocket. *checks* Yep, have one now.

Nope, I walked away with a limp that lasted for a couple of weeks but my bike was trashed. The front wheel and spokes where bent 30%. I'm lucky that where I landed was grassy instead of paved otherwise I probaly would have had broken bones and a concusion.

Well, I finally used my dice in a real dreidel game.
One advantage of dice is that it rolls in less time than a dreidel spins, so that cuts down on the length of the game.
It still bores me, though.
However, I do get surprisingly much use out of my d3 and d5, in my PFRPG games, thanks to Crimson Jester's suggestion.
