I guess you're right. I'm missing something. Do you have some source showing where this specific image is from five millennia ago? Not the concept of a phoenix. Not the idea of an awesome image of a phoenix with its wings extended upwards. This specific image. I actually usually get disgruntled when someone snips "Citation needed" in general conversation and I recognize I'm doing that here. Again, not "something similar." This exact image. Note: I'm not arguing that Paizo / PFS "stole" this image. I've no idea what happened behind closed doors and who was given money or rights to a thing. I'm just stating that these are the same image, though one was modified slightly. Paizo presumably has a legal team that keeps them up to date on what is and what is not OK.

Actually, in a true act of contrition, they should give the artist double the profits for the guide. lastblacknight wrote:
That is all totally true... but not really related to my post's point of "The tattoo and the faction logo are actually the same image." I didn't say they were close. I said that if you made one transparent and laid it over the other, it's the same image (with some lines colored in). Heck, it's possible that the person that Paizo hired for that logo is the same person that made the flash in that first link. They could have just reused their own art...

Go into an image editor (heck, paint will work). Resize the two images so that they're at the same scale. Now make one transparent and place it over the other. You can see that they are, actually, the same image. The tattoo is offered as a free download, so that might protect Paizo, but it's certainly the same artwork, tweaked for Paizo's needs. The same is true for the book and the bag. I can't get to the scales from here, so I'm not sure on that one.
So, we've an urban campaign starting sometime this month. I was about to go and roll a Shadow Assassin, but you had to go and trip him up. After poring through the book, I'm going to go with the Shadow Warrior instead. This bloke will be garroting folks in no time. :D Thanks for an awesome class. I may have to give the Shadow Warrior a week or so to be less "new and shiny" and reconsider which route I'll take. I'm all for more shadow supplements though. Bring 'em on.

Not that I think it'll impact this game overly much, I've found the following: -The wiki stopped getting updated in November of 2012.
I think, at this point, implementing the up-to-date rules would be like trying to convert a game from 2nd ed D&D to PF. It probably just wouldn't work.

Whether using the rules from (I think) Sage Kobold or something you work up. Any class that has a mechanic quoting Conan is good by me. Note: If there are plans on visits to the Citadel, I'd have to stay behind on the ship. They're barred from interacting with the Citadel, if memory serves.

@Monkeygod, I think the solution to my mistake with the Shadowvar is a curse war. It seems like that's what happened anyway, between here and the IG thread, we just didn't spend points. I figure it's either that or I start roughing out a cosmic decree about mortals that speak to the Beggar. At the end of the day I had too many ideas floating in my head and over-reached. I also completely misunderstood the rules as they sit. I feel like I've not really contributed much other than a disruption. If you folks want me to bow out, I'll do so gracefully.

That's certainly not my intention. Like I said, I emailed the LoC "staff" and asked them about updating the wiki with clearer language (regarding creatures and concepts) for future games. They're actually surprised that people are using the wiki as it's very out of date. If the Mods have decided that Concepts and Creatures are entirely exclusive to the players that made them, awesome. It seems like some things are assumed to come with broader concepts and some aren't.

Hunh. I think I misunderstood a bunch of things about this system. I totally understand passing cosmic decrees on through here. They're sweeping and affect the entire game. All sentient races have access to all mundane concepts (it's in the rules on the wiki) so whenever we introduce one we have to pass it through here as well? If we make an Advanced or Magical concept we have to run that past anyone with a Greater lifeform (same deal, they have access to all of them)? I'm going to hold off on more IG posts as I apparently have to create stars and don't have the points for it. Edit to add: What currently exists? What assumptions can be made? We have blacksmithing, but no one spent points on smelting, tools, or even metal. We have Written Language, but no spoken language, no pens, paper, tablets or anything. There's been no creation of architecture or clothing or roads or settlements.

Crud! I knew I forgot something. The current plan is for Drogusk to fill a front line melee position. I'd probably place him as a Champion. That said, depending on party dynamics and relationships I could also see him heading over to Marshal or Guardian.
Here's a snippet on Drogusk. Slightly edited from his Kingmaker introduction in another thread. The Ten-Minute Background:
In an attempt to get all the information I need to create stuff from character backgrounds without having to continually push for information, I am asking that you create backgrounds the following way: Step 1: Core:
Write five things about your character’s concept and background, five things that you think are the most essential parts of your character. You don’t have to stop at five, if you like…this is just a minimum.
1.) Barbarian host to a foreign intelligence. The battle between savagery and technology wages within Drogusk. 2.) BrainPal: Drogusk is “host” to an intelligence that assists him in his endeavors. It has access to great knowledges and will, at times, share that knowledge (his Eidolon). It has a strong self-preservation protocol and tries very hard to imprint that on Drogusk 3.) A Long Journey: Drogusk has traveled far in his 19 years. He has a wanderer’s soul and has seen many great sights. His most memorable adventure was a town called Torch with a purple flame sitting on the crest of a hill. While there, he explored an oddly square cave and found his BrainPal. 4.) Enjoys solitude and can never find any. He’s never alone now. He’s pretty much always got this avatar in the back of his head speaking to him and informing him of things. Maybe eventually he’ll learn to tune it out? Maybe eventually it’ll drive him mad. 5.) More comfortable in melee. Yells at the BrainPal to “cast spells.” He uses his actions to impement different protocols in the system. Step 2: Goals:
List two goals for the character that you, as a player, think would be cool to see accomplished in-game. During any session in which you take positive action to achieve that goal, I will award you an action point that can only be used in scenes furthering that goal. These Action Points are separate from the action points you gain by resting and reaching milestones. You can change goals later, though you lose all the accumulated Action Points for the goal you abandoned.
1.) I’m looking forward to awkward interactions with folks as he discusses the ghost that he speaks with and his odd assortment of equipment. I’d like for the equipment to develop as the plot does. I’d love to see his bank of knowledge come in useful. I can see him at some point living a hermit’s life in the woods in a cottage that’s got a lot more going on inside than people might think. Perhaps he’s/ his Companion is rebuilding something from Numeria? 2.) I don’t see him taking on a fatherly role (like several other characters of mine) with the party. I’d like to see him become more of a protective older brother… or maybe even an over-protective younger brother who’s a bit of a hot head. I could see the BrainPal yelling at him as he charges into battle. Step 3: Secrets:
List two secrets about your character. One is a secret the character knows, one is a secret that involves him but that he is not actually aware of yet. This will help me in creating plots that center around your character. I will also be creating a third secret which you as a player will not be aware of, so expect some surprises!
1.) He wound up in that cave fleeing from combat. It’s not a big deal to most people, but a Kellid that fled from fear instead of practicality is a Kellid with a lot of shame. 2.) When he was in that cave, he awoke more than just the BrainPal. Something else stirred. It may have followed him. Who knows? (Hint: the GM knows) Step 4: relationships:
Describe three people that are tied to the character though blood, romance or honor. Two of them are friendly to the character, one is hostile. All can do something useful for you, if you can get the situations to line up. If you like, you can include an enemy of yours here as well, so I have an instant NPC nemesis to throw at you.
1.) Kundarr: Drogusk’s Father. He was a shaman of the Kellids in the Realms of the Mammoth Lords. Drogusk never even had the chance to
Step 5: Memories: Describe three memories that your character has. They don't have to be elaborate, but they should provide some context and flavor.
1.) Passing “near” the Worldwound and seeing all of the chaos and destruction that it had wrought. Also seeing the Templars and the service they provide the people of former Sarkoris. It’s clear that protectors are important and he feels called to that role. 2.) When he found his BrainPal. Suddenly a flood of information was poured directly into his skull. It took him ages to sort out what was happening to him and how to adjust. He’d been given a tool to accomplish many things and now needed a place to use that gift. 3.) Finding civilization again. He’s been reveling in the change. Crazy people and their purple flame…
I've had a PC concept for a summoner brewing for a while. Originally he was going to be a barbarian that had wandered into Numeria and wound up stuck with an Elysium style "harness" (His eidolon). A Small Serpentine Eidolon that mostly aid's it's wearer. As it develops, it'll gain new abilities. Think he might fit in if it's an augmented Android instead? He could actually use the first concept as cover. The PCs are masquerading as fleshbags, correct? Let me know if I have the below correct. Evolution Point Progression: 2:1 4:2 6:1 8:1? (and stat point bump) 10:1 12:2 14:1 16:2 18:1 20:1
I was thinking of nobility as the Right of Kings. They're better than you just by virtue of being noble. That's what I meant with Divine Mandate (from the ruleset in the wiki). Madness and Prophecy. His third Domain would likely be stars or the void. I may make him Chaos incarnate (Protean) at some point as well.
I've a character I think could work out quite well. Originally I'd intended for him to wind up a Warpriest at later levels (3+) would you consider allowing a PC to change Cleric levels into WP levels in August when the book is released? (maybe Ranger levels into WP levels) I've other concepts I can put forward, but I think Hank could work out well here.
I've had several ideas on things to encourage madness in the campaign. I am hoping for more societies sometime soon. Right now it's just Dwarves and the Llieldasine, right? I kind of gathered that the Shinokas were unintelligent farmers. It looks like Ohren has 5 domains already. Was that a clerical error or did I miss a few actions that built up his profile? Out of Curiosity, What does "Moon A" look like?
