Hello all,
So Kingmaker 2E as designed has more encounters than a party using the standard advancement track will need in order to progress, and the Adventure Path recommends using the Slow Advancement Track if you want to spread things out more.
Because I was curious about this, I counted up all the fixed sources of XP that could be found between Lady Aldori's Manor and the death of the Stag Lord, and found that were was 3,630 EXP, just enough to take a Slow Advancement party to Fourth Level assuming they do literally everything to do in the chapter (get in every fight, complete every quest, etc) and don't have any random encounters (which will, admittedly, mess with the math in unpredictable ways.
My question as I try to figure out how to manage the EXP track from here on out (my PCs are currently exploring the Greenbelt), to those more familiar/experienced with Kingmaker and the 2E Adventure Paths in general, is "Is this slower pace worth it?" What do y'all feel is added or lost by this more "completionism required to advance" mindset versus the chance of either having more powerful characters/needing to adjust difficulty on my end/missing some areas and quests, and what would you recommend for other groups?
Had my first session last night. We're still in the Aldori Manor, but we're having a blast, from our Barbarian having a push-up contest with Amiri and our Investigator being incredibly down bad for Jaethal. I'm so excited for next week.

I'm personally working on stuff for a session I'm running this Saturday with the basic premise of "Lost Underground City of Bat People." I'm worried it won't be good, but then I worry about that with every session and it turns out okay, so fingers crossed.
How are you this post Boxing Day day?
Man, it has been a hot minute, but I guess I won again.

Approximately 1/3 of a Tacticslion.
Honestly, this whole "New Edition" thing has been kinda surreal for me. Pathfinder was the second session of a tabletop game I played ever, I got really into PFS for a good chunk of middle and high school, got more books than I could comfortably fit into a medium-sized suitcase, and now there's a new edition. My dad played 1st Edition D&D when it was new, and I've taken inordinate amounts of joy in going through all of his old gaming stuff, listening to his stories, and I'm realizing that eventually whatever kids I have will probably end up doing the same thing with me.
So that's my current thoughts on Pathfinder Second Edition: it makes me feel old. I'm probably not going to buy it for a while, but that's more because I'm a broke college student and everyone on campus plays Dungeons and Dragons anyway, so it's kinda moot.

Rolling Stone magazine did an article right away, before much of anything was known, so it was a lot of color and quotes from musicians and bystanders. Holy crap, I forgot how the "in-crowd" talked during that time. Groovy, bad vibes, cat, old man, old lady, bummed, bad trip, etc. The article reads as rather ridiculous now, despite the grim contents.
It reminds me of Nine Princes in Amber, which also contains some super-dated prose.
Groovy, man. I still talk like this... *looks around in confusion at the modern world*. Heavy, man. Heavy. Schway.

Finished the Project: Nevada game (independent, as always.) It was fun, and a nice change of pace, but I think I'm going back to vanilla (save a sprint mod.)
EDIT: Also fough Rawr for the first time. Three flares to the head and half a magazine of Minigun and he was down for the count. One of these days I'm gonna assault the Promentary.
Speaking of the Minitemen, I found out today that Sturges is a synth. If you console command his invincibility away, he drops a synth part when you kill him.

Kobold Cleaver wrote: What do you mean, Lucky Seven? That is both hilarious and rage...filling...y.
My petty grievance today is that people keep typing my username as "Lucky7" instead of "lucky7." I completely understand that they're trying to be respectful/use proper punctuation, and I appreciate that, but, to quote the Ting Tings, "That's not my name."
Well, if you're all having fun, my first advice is "if it ain't broke, don't fix it."
My other thought is...there's plenty of monsters that don't attack Armor Class, although I can't think of any off the top of my head. These could function as excellent "support" monsters.
My final thought is, worst comes to worst, have a gentleman's agreement to sell your armor for a higher value than normal and use the extra cash to kit up with more interesting stuff (potions, scrolls, supplies, etc.)
