And the site has crashed already. :(
Thanks for running it! It was a blast!
Should I wear my trucker hat?
Well Goblins usually love fire, but Lulu likes to freeze things with ice. Slushies, anyone?

Dressing up would be awesome, and definitely earn some kind of boon.

For the second year, Mystery Soda will be bringing a Bardic "Open Mic" after the Paizo Banquet.
Signup will begin right after the banquet, and the Bardic circle will open at 10 pm.
Initiative order for performances will be first come, first served. Once everyone in the initiative order has acted, you have the option of going again. Performers can also delay or ready actions if needed.
Performances should last no longer than 10 minutes (or 2 songs) so everyone gets an even break, but last year some performers split their performance over multiple rounds, which the GMs allowed. Please be respectful of other performers and stay within the 10 minutes. We don't want to have to gong you!
Performance can include anything that is family friendly and safe.
Performances can include, but are not limited to
Perform: Sing
Perform: Dance
Perform: Wind/String/Percussion Instrument
Perform: Oratory (poetry or storytelling,or your favorite gaming story)
Perform: Other
Spectators are welcomed. Coming and going as you please is allowed.
Some musical instruments will be available for loan, including a
couple of guitars.
So come by Saturday night and check it out!
Last year I never received a confirmation email that my event submission had been accepted. I found out when the lottery was posted. I was told by Sara Marie that if there is a problem with your event submission they will let you know prior to the lottery, otherwise, it's likely your event will be added to the schedule.

I haven't read all 15 pages of this thread, but here's an idea I haven't seen.
Create rules that will make it possible for running 3rd party and homebrew content.
Here's how it would work.
-Pick a tier
-1 xp per scenario
-create parameters for how prestige points are earned.
-create a set of about 20 generic boons that gms can choose to award, and limit it to 2 boons per scenario. There should be fewer boons for non-offical content.
-Give an appropriate amount for each tier of magic items that can be put on the chronicle sheet.
-release a homebrew chronicle sheet for each tier, both in printable pdf and fillable word doc format.
-scenarios will be reported as "Tier x-x homebrew", with categories of 1-5, 3-7, 5-7, 7-11 and 12-15.
The point is...people will want to keep playing pfs 1st edition. Paizo will be moving forward with the new campaign, and cannot devote resources to creating new content for a previous edition. So turn it over to the fans and create the structure for tracking progress. It hurts no one.
Thank you. This is a public game at a flgs and I dont think this one is long enough to have a campaign mode. Good to know.

So I've searched the Roleplaying Guild Guide and can't find an answer to this hypothetical scenario that has almost happened to me a couple of time while GMing.
So you're in the first encounter or two of a module or longer scenario, and a character dies. This being a low level scenario, Raise Dead or Resurrection is not a reasonable possibility.
But the player has a second character.
Can you report the first character as dead, add the second character to the reporting notes, and if the new character survives three encounters and meets the success conditions, award the player a chronicle sheet for the second character? (possibly with gold reduced for encounters missed)
I'm running a module that will span multiple sessions, with a reputation of being kind of brutal at 1st level, and I want to know what to do if a character bites it in the first couple of hours. I'd hate for a player to have to sit out for most of 2 weeks of play, but I don't want to do something outside of the rules of pfs.
To summarize, does pfs allow the "Your brother shows up" trope?

Can we just call it "Using a Shield" instead of "Raising a shield"? Because if my opponent raises a shield and leaves it up I'm taking out a leg.
The 150 character limit for the event description was a little difficult to work with. I totally understand the need to limit this, but if we could get a little more text that would allow us to provide a more accurate description of the event.
I had no issues with the rest of the form, it was quick and easy to fill out.
On a related issue:
If there is any way we could get notified a couple of weeks before the lottery runs that our event made the schedule that would be awesome. It was nice getting a heads up email for pfs slots, something similar for lottery would be great.
Thank you for being open to feedback, It was awesome being able to run lottery events this year. I had a great experience.
My highlights included running a roller derby mini-game in the Dungeon of Dis-dress, playing a silly blue-caped Vigilante in Eric Keith's "Plucker and Gale vs Evil", hearing such a great variety ot talent in Inspire Courage: Open Bardic Performance, Getting to perform our "Star Sugar Heartlove" song for the author, Eleanor Ferron (and it being well recieved), GCP live (and meeting the cast) the know direction adventurous live broadcast, and most of all, seeing all the friends I've made over the last 4 years of Paizocon.

This event will start after the banquet. There will be a sign up on a notepad by the door for those who want to perform. Please keep performances appropriate for and respectful to the audience.
Each performer that signs up will get 10 minutes, or about 2 songs if you are doing perform:sing. If we go through the whole sign up list you can opt to go another round. Spectators and drop ins are welcome. I'm bringing a loaner guitar and some small percussion instruments.

More information
This event is the result of my wife spending a good part of the last two Paizocons convincing Paizcon attendees to draw dungeon rooms on her dress or skirt that had dungeon squares. Both years people kept asking, “So when are you going to run this as an event?"
So, by request, we put together this game that is inspired by artwork contributed by the Paizocon community. Each room is connected to the other like deadly quilt squares in a magical tapestry. I know, a magical tapestry that allows you to travel from one location to another sounds a little far-fetched, but that is what lottery events are all about.
In Cascade 13 at 10 pm we'll be gathering for bardic performances. You can sing a song, tell a gaming story, tell a joke, do a card trick, or just hang out and be entertained!
The L&I Hawaiian BBQ place across the street is also a good food choice. The best thing about the deli inside the hotel is 5 bucks for a bottomless coffee cup for the day, especially useful for those 8 am time slots. The best thing to eat in the deli is the pizza, if you don't mind paying $10 for a mini-pizza
The Crest Motor Inn has terribly uncomfortable beds, smells like smoke in the non-smoking rooms, and is dirty. However, they do have cheap parking (You'll save a couple of bucks a day and don't have to stay at the hotel to park there), so it may be useful for locals who want to save on the $8/day parking at the Doubletree.

So then I put my crew on an organic ship (space whale?), load up the torpedo bay with Rust monsters, and dominate the universe.
Hey, I'm one of the GMs for this time slot.
Without giving away anything, I can say wayang and non wayang characters are both good choices here.
From a roleplay standpoint, it may be fun for you to play a wayang since for once, you are not the weirdo.
I didn't park on site last year, but I did year before last, and that was when I paid the $8/day. I was not aware they had made any changes to that policy. I apologize if my information was out of date. Please ask the hotel if there is a con rate for parking, if not, I've had success within the last year finding cheap parking near the airport at this site
https://www.airportparkingreservations.com/seattle_airport_parking_sea
Park at the hotel. It will say the parking is something ridiculous like $21 bucks a day, but when you get inside, there is a ticket pay machine right by the Paizo table and they charge you $8 a day. You might be able to get a cheaper daily rate at one of the local motels, but it will be a bit of a walk, I'd just go with the daily Doubletree rate, as you won't be able to get much better.
Alternatively, if you are going alone, you could park at the Tukwila International blvd park and ride and take the light rail for $2.25 each way ($4.50/day) to SeaTac station and walk across the street to the con. That's a cheap way to go if it's just you, but if you have others in the car, parking at the doubletree is your best bet.
Does anyone know what "unavailable" on the volunteer schedule means, as in Friday (8 am-1 pm): Unavailable
I played in a 3rd ed game, where the DM wanted a gritty, low magic game, and had us roll our stats, in order, on 3d6. No rerolls. No "drop the lowest" anything.
I got a 17 for Wisdom, so I decided to play a cleric.
The problem was, I rolled a 3 for dex.
I thought, "No problem, I'll just put him in heavy armor. Problem solved".
Yeah, that was a disaster, considering my terrible dex was further modified by Armor Check Penalties.
However, I really had fun, despite falling in every pit trap, slipping on every slippery surface, and failing every Stealth and Balance Check.
I really wish the GM had thought to introduce banana peels in combat. The whole think became very slapstick. I'm kinda glad the campaign was rather short-lived, because that would have gotten old after awhile. But it was fun playing a flawed, Klutzy character for awhile.
Well I have noticed that they always scan your badge before you make any purchases.
Wild Waves theme park, a combination theme park/water park is close (13 miles south of the hotel) and cheap during May (tickets for about $15 bucks, and your daughter would be free. They have lots of shallow slash pools for kids and lots of cute little kiddie rides. They would be open Sat-Mon on Paizocon weekend.

This will be my fourth year..here's what I've learned to have the best time.
1. Pay attention for the month prior to the con to the forums and to the event lottery. When the lottery opens, make sure to sign up for lottery events. You'll get a chance to rate how much you want to play an event on a scale from 1 to 5. Be stingy with your fives, since the algorithm is set up to try to give you 5s, then 4s, etc. If you rate a bunch of events as 5s, you may end up with events that aren't your first choice. I've never gotten more than 3 of the events that I signed up for in the lottery.
2. The day after the lottery is run (or perhaps the day of), check and see what lottery events didn't fill. Then sign up for pathfinder society events you are interested in, since you can't sign up for those until after the lottery runs anyway.
3. Like others have said, leave at least one slot free on most of the 4 days, so you have time to go to classes (which you can sign up for but you don't usually need to), delves, mini painting, or just sit and hang out. The bar in the hotel is pretty awesome, as is the little coffee shop. (both a little pricey, however)
4. If you can at all afford it, buy a banquet ticket. And do it soon. They knock 10 dollars off your 4 day pass if you do the banquet. The food is great and it's cool to be part of the crowd "ooing" and "awing" at all the new release announcements.
5. If you drink coffee, the little deli has a "buy a cup in the morning and use it all day" policy. However, I would supplement that with the complementary water you can get outside all of the rooms.
6. There are rooms that are hard to find where there are unofficial games that are being run all the time that you can join. Last year they were in the "evergreen" rooms.
7. Last year they had a "quiet" room set up if you don't have a hotel room and just need a few minutes to rest while the headache medicine is kicking in. That was nice.
8. If you have a chance to sign up for an event that is not a role-playing game, or you can join a non-rpg in one of the evergreen rooms, it's a really great change of pace. I really enjoyed doing some board gaming for one session last year.
Hope you have a great first year!
We stayed at the Crest motor inn last year. It was dirty and smelled like smoke. If that doesn't bother you, it's certainly a place to sleep and it's super close. I'm staying at the doubletree this year.
Thank you! I was just about to do the conversion work, and out of curiosity I googled "Ultimate Intrigue Jorgenfist Library"...and I got this. Thank you for sharing your work. It's so worth it to make sure you aren't re-inventing the wheel during GM prep.
This being only my 3rd year, it was the best one so far. I did not have a single game that wasn't fantastic. The Munchkin table was a very nice addition. I agree with the Scavenger Hunt boon comment above.
Only one suggestion.
I understand the reason behind removing the autograph table, but I never had a good chance to get my Ultimate Intrigue signed and that would have been nice. Could that come back next year, but maybe with limited hours? I would suggest a couple of hours in the afternoon each day, or maybe on Monday after all the events are over.
It's just so much easier to approach someone for an autograph when they are sitting at an autograph table. That way if I run into Paizo folks in the hallway I can just have a genuine conversation and it not be a Segway into awkwardly asking for an autograph.
Great con! Will see everyone in 2017!!
I don't own a recorder, but I'm willing to take one to seminars I'm attending and then return it if I know where to find the owner. I'll know what seminars I'm attending once the lottery events close and I decide what pfs games I'm gonna play in. Last year I think I went to about a half a dozen and I don't think all of them got recorded. I listened to all of the ones that were recorded, and if I can help increase the number that get recorded that would be great. I'm also a local resident if you need any tips about getting around in the greater Seattle Area.
If you haven't completed Rise of the Runelords, will this be spoiler-ific? (will likely be in book 4 by Paizocon with my home game)

Just ran the first game, and next one is coming up on New Years. I didn't like the start of the game with Ruby randomly picking the PC's out of the crowd, so I wrote a short "prequel" where Halgra had ordered Ruby's hopeknife from Clamor, and it wasn't ready in time for the ceremony, so on the morning of the ceremony she sends the party to farmhouse a few hours out of town that belonged to her ailing father, where he had mistakenly left Halgra's mother's hopeknife. I stocked the farmhouse with Zombies and a soulbound doll that had possession of the knife, due to the proximity of the farmhouse to a ruined evil temple.
After successfully recovering what would become Ruby's hopeknife, she logically chose the PC's for her Tug O' War team.
The unintended consequence was they party got some of the rumors and clues before the Hopeknife Ceremony, and ended up going to the Plague House to find the missing Othdan. There they found Daktani talking with Ghaer and defeated him using stealth! (There is a Ninja in the party!)
Upon returning him to town and handing him over to Jagrin at the Longhouse, they retired to the Ramblehouse, to awake to Rodrick's death the next morning.
That was where we stopped. I think in Kurst and Jagrin's grief and the preocupation of the militia with Roderick's death I'll have Daktani escape and lay low during the investigation, ready to lay a trap for the party next time they return to the Plague house.
Having lots of fun with this one.

A few spots in this one I found some rules stated that seem to conflict with the prd.
p. 34 in the description of the forge (D1) it says that "Although none of the Giants have Improved bull rush, they all have reach, so they can attempt a bull rush without provoking an attack of opportunity."
prd says, "initiating a bull rush provokes an attack of opportunity from the target of your maneuver." I don't see anything about reach preventing the Aoa.
Also, p. 40, West rookery (E1) it says, "Because all of these dragons are under the effects of dominate monster, the Storm Tyrant can see through their eyes, and at least once a day he concentrates fully on the effect to recieve full sensory input from any one of the dragons."
But the prd says, "You can't actually see through the subject's eyes, so it's not as good as being there yourself, but you still get a good idea of what's going on."
This would lead me to believe that the Storm tyrant could learn that the dragons are under attack by humans or other smaller than giant sized humanoids, but not be able to recognize faces, if you go with the prd, but that he could pick them out of a lineup if he could see them with the dragon's superior vision.
Any thoughts? Is these rules contradictions, or am I misreading the entries?

I don't know how to add a spoiler button, so fair warning.
Does anyone else find the cache of weapons at the end of the vault of thorns a little underwhelming?
I mean, after all the party has gone through to get there, I was expecting more than one weapon that was intended specifically for fighting giants and more than 11 anti-orc arrows. Some of the other items make sense for druids to have, such as the wand of magic fang, but I think when I get to this part I'm going to make the treasure better match the description Halgra gave, while keeping the total value of the treasure about the same.
I get that Halgra may have imperfect knowledge of what the contents of the treasure hoard would be, even with Silvermane's description (though some details could be lost in translation), but I really don't enjoy intentionally setting up my PC's for disappointment.
Other than this detail, I love this part of the AP, its a really cool location.
Anyone have suggestions for alternate items for the vault of thorns hidden weapons cache?
My coffee maker percolating.....yeah, it's 10 pm here in Seattle...what else is new?

Already going to be there with my family
This question has come up on forums for some of the other lottery events, and the answer has been "go ahead". I think I'll go ahead and roll up my awesome dwarf and just avoid any obscure source material. Hey, if the GM says no, I still had fun building the character and I need more time playing around with Herolab anyway.
I was the last to sign up. I don't have a 7th level pathfinder society character, but I was wondering if I could make a character in Herolab with the "pathfinder society character" generation option turned on. Also, if that is an option, what rulebooks would be allowed? I'd really like to make a dwarven cleric of Torag. I have a cool dwarf mini with a warhammer that I picked up for 2 bucks on free comic book day at my friendly local gaming store and I want to take it out for a test drive.
Goblin brain, please! John Orr
I had a great time last year and didn't do any PFS games because I was new to Pathfinder (but not role playing), and I thought learning a new set of rules AND how to do organized play was a little much.
I actually only played in 2 lottery events, so I spent my time going to seminars, playing card games, painting minis, and playing in those 20 minute delves, which were about my favorite thing to do at the con.
I actually would have liked a few more choices of things to do, and especially this year since I'm bringing my whole family (my wife and daughter have no interest in PFS) having more choices, for me, makes the ticket price increase worth it.
I think saying that PFS is "The reason we go to the con" is a narrow statement that doesn't take into consideration the diverse interests of Paizocon attendees.
