I noticed that on DND NEXT a couple of cantrips do more damage than their Pathfinder counterparts. If we had that it could mean that low level wizards could use cantrips instead of the not so magical crossbows. Is there any chance that we ever going to get this kind of changes in Pathfinder?

Are Paizo adventure paths and PFS scenarios compatibles with DND 3.5?

A level 1 sorcerer usually only have a very limited number of spells per day and is also very weak to fight melee. How can a sorcerer contribute on a long encounter at level 1? Crossbow? Acid splash? Do wizards have a better time at level 1?

CRB: Any armor heavier than leather, as well as any shield, hurts a character's ability to use Dexterity- and Strength-based skills. An armor check penalty applies to all Dexterity- and Strength-based skill checks.

Question: What is the amount of the penalty and where I can read about it (PRD link or CRB page number if possible)?

Thanks in advance!

Taking a look at Ezren's iconic and the rules it seem too me that a wizard carries too much equipment.

I mean this: On RL I usually carry my laptop on its case and if I spend several hours doing that I will feel tired.

However Ezren carries a light crossbow that preatty much weight just as a laptop and also carries a spell pouch, expensive components, bolts, scrolls and maybe even his spellbook among other things.

Wizards are usually not that strong and also using armor disrupt their spell casting. So I wonder how it is possible that a wizard carries so many items and function properly?

There is any recommendation about items to make a wizard look more light yet functional with the current rules?

Maybe on future version of the rules the spell components and lighter weapons like weapons like wands could be made in such way that a wizard can travel lighter.

Just think of this: when you see of a wizard on most movies they usually don't carry much. Maybe a staff, a wand and sometimes a spellbook. However fighter on the other do carry a lot with them.

Ezren Level 1 premade has +2 for the crossbow. Why is that? Why other weapons like the dagger or the cane don't have it?

There is any way of ready a move action in such way that can be use to dodge a melee or ranged attack?

This question my look dumb but I fail to see why conjuration is better than universalist at low levels (1-3).

Conjuration gets 1 extra spells however pay it with limited access for two schools. Acid dart is not better than hand of the apprentice and Summoner's Charm don't have a huge impact or I am wrong? So why it is better? Again this question assume levels 1-3.

I was reading bardic performance on page 35 of the CRB but I didn't get the area that is cover by the performance effect and the actual magical effects that it can produce.

1)Can I download DnD Encounters to use them with my friends or they can only be obtained at stores?

-->DND ENCOUNTERS

2)Is just me or the LFR adventures have very little quality when you compared them with pathfinder society' scenarios?

-->LFR

PFS Guide page 10: Before you level up a character for the first time, you may change any aspect of it except its Pathfinder Society Number.

Question: A GM has to supervise the changes?

PFS Guide page 24: players may always buy gear, spells and so on so long as their characters are in a town of more than 5,000 residents.

Question: Do I have to be in game to buy from a chronicle sheet or can I do it while retraining my character?

Question: There is any validation process on the PFS to prevent players from making illegal changes to their characters like buying equipment that is beyond their budget?

Any popular and still supported futuristic, historical and/or WW2 RPGs?

Popular: Well know with a lot of players
Supported: The creators still maintain it and modules/adventures have been created for it.

Two characters open a room and found two enemies goblins. Neither the characters or goblins were expecting the others.

Question 1: A surprise round will occur? If so who get to act in the round?

Question 2: Character that get to act in a surprise round but that haven't acted yet are flat footed?

Did D6 inspired some of the d20 mechanics like DC or vice versa? the chart on page 53 of the D6 Fantasy book looks too familiar!

CRB: A creature within 5 feet has concealment (attacks have a 20% miss chance).Creatures farther away have total concealment (50% miss chance, and the attacker can’t use sight to locate the target).

Question: If I cast cloud fog on my own square I get concealment from attacks but my attackers also get concealment from me right?

1) Spells that have a casting time of 1 standard action can be interrupted by attacking the caster or by any other means?

2) Any way of interrupting a ranged attack with a bow or a melee attack with a sword?

There is any rule on Pathfinder similar to the "Contests" rule on DND Next?

Any web fiction, tales or novel that take place on magnimar?

Any way to know when a given web fiction was posted?

Ultimate Equipment p106: Treat this attack as a ranged touch attack with a range increment of 10 feet.

Question 1: it means that I can throw it up to 10 feet or 15 feet?
Question 2: If I am on square 1 Throwing something 10 feet away means landing on square 3 or square 2?

If I shoot a bolt with a crossbow can I recover it from the body or object where it hit? What about if I miss?

sorcerers use a component pouch to cast spells just like the wizard right?

I think that the pathfinder article on wikipedia is very short and lacks a lot of info like the pathfinder society, more pictures of the books and more history information!

What you think guys? What kind of changes should we make?

I don't need to roll for attack in order to aim a Necklace of Fireballs attack to a particular location within a 70 feet range right?

The following link contains a poll to determine the favorite sorcerer/wizard spells at low levels (1-3)

Note that all spells can be useful on a given situation. Just check those that you really like or use more frequently. The choice should be based on a character of the given spell level.

NOTE: After filling the poll please post “done” or anything else on this thread to keep it alive!

On a surprise round a character wants to take cover behind some debris. As he runs he intentionally drops his torch on the floor. Are the dropping and the covering just 1 move or 2 different moves actions or 1 move +1 free action or 1 move + 1 standard action?

At low level wizards dont do a lot of damage so I wonder what schools make wizard more useful at low levels in particular levels 1-5.

CRB: Most bonuses have a type, and as a general rule, bonuses of the same type are not cumulative (do not “stack”)—only the greater bonus granted applies.

Question: There is any direct or indirect reference to this rule on the Beginner Box?

Can I cast mage armor multiple times in order to get better armor? Can I cast it on people (fighter/barbarian) that already have "regular" armor?

Decipher the Writing (RAW): The writing on a scroll must be
deciphered before a character can use it or know exactly what spell it contains. This requires a read magic spell or a successful Spellcraft check (DC 20 + spell level). Deciphering a scroll is a full-round action.

Question:I understand that I have to do this every time I want to use a scroll. Or is just for scrolls I "find" in treasures? Or Can I consider that a scrolls that I brought to the adventure (in my backpack) are already deciphered?

1 person marked this as a favorite.

If I am reading the rules correctly it seems like a first level sorcerer can cast more spells per day that a first level wizard. Won’t that make the sorcerer more powerful at low levels? At some point the wizard catch up or surpass the sorcerer?

On the first steps part 2 scenario front page one can read EST. 4708 AR. what is that date? The scenario date? It can't be the PFS society foundation cause it have been around for more that 400 years!

I wonder if Venture-Captains like Amara Li or Sheila Heidmarch are loyal to a particular faction like any other PFS agent?

As far as I understand a PFS scenario usually takes around 4 hours to be completed but I wonder how much time (average) in hours an AP modulne (adventure) usually take?

There is anyway to trade the move action of a round for a second standard action?

Since acid splash only do 1d3 damage I wonder if there is any situation where it is actually useful.

An attack of opportunity can be provoked/made on a surprise round?

What will be the cost of copying a Charm Person Spell (level 1) from another wizard spellbook with and without the evoking day boon?

In the morning a wizard prepared all his spells. He did not used any of them on that day. He went to be an woke up in the middle of an encounter. He used one (1) spell. The encounter and following actions took 1 hour.

The wizard go back to his bed and rest a couple more hours. Can he replace the used spell or 8 hours of sleep are required even if only 1 spell was used?
