Do you still have this boon available? I have a variety of regular boons and race boons I could look to trade.

Yes, in fact I'm looking for another race right now to complete my Gray Anatomy boon. I've got enough as is but not without sacrificing one or two I'd like to keep.

Well that first trade was painless, (thanks BNW) and I still have a small clutch of Dragonkin, I think I'll try again.

I understand pregen sheets are not a valid source for rules. My question is more is there a valid rules source that does address this, and if there isn't should there be one? It seems like an oversight.

Maybe this is an old discussion since the (CRB) pregens have been out for almost 3 years now but if it is my google-fu is failing me. The level 8 Navasi pregen's version of the level 6 Outlaw theme ability Legal Corruption is significantly different than the CRB version.

CRB wrote:

LEGAL CORRUPTION (6TH)

Your underworld contacts have serious pull with the corporations and the authorities and can get you out of just about any legal trouble—as long as you're willing to pay the right price. Depending on the severity of the crime, this can be anywhere between 500 credits × your character level and 10,000 credits × your character level.

This makes a certain amount of sense in Society play, but is this addressed anywhere? It isn't listed on the Additional Resources page as nothing from the CRB is. It isn't listed in the Society Guide as it simply says "All themes listed in the Starfinder Core Rulebook are available for play.". It isn't listed on the organized play FAQ.

I understand the pregens are "play as is" but what about other characters with the outlaw theme, should they be using this version of Legal Corruption for Society play? If so how would players know this?

[Outpost III] SFS 2-00 Fate of the Scoured God Tier 1-2 - GM Xain

Male Human(Shoanti) Slayer 1

Who are you, and what do you have to offer the party?

I will likely be bringing a level 8 pregen to the party as the character I would like to apply credit to is not at yet the level I would like them to be. I realize I could play a lower tier, but I have other characters I intend to replay with at the lower tiers. I'm usually more patient and wait until the character I want to earn credit reaches the appropriate level rather than using pregens but I learned to play the specials when there is an opportunity due to their limited availability.

I will probably bring Iseph (Operative pregen) though I'd be willing to consider swapping depending on the party makeup. Though there are pregens I won't play because don't care for them mechanically. I guess what I bring most whether Iseph or another pregen is flexibility to fill needed roles.

Have you been assigned to any missions involving either the jinsul or gathering information and resources concerning the Scoured Stars? How have they affected you?

I played level 4 Iseph in 1-99 towards the same character, otherwise most of my jinsul/scoured stars story line missions so far have been with another character.

How involved has this character been in pursuing the Scoured Stars / Jinsul storyline?

So far with this character participation in the jinsul/scoured stars story line has been limited to 1-99. I plan to play the season 1 "part 2" tier 3-6 scoured stars scenarios with this character Truth of the Seeker, Treading History's Folly, Heart of the Foe

Did you participate in any of the following?

  • SFS 1-04, Cries from the Drift
  • SFS 1-05, The First Mandate
  • SFS 1-11, The Pursuit of the Scoured Past
  • SFS 1-13, On the Trail of History
  • SFS 1-27, Return to Sender
  • SFS 1-34, Heart of the Foe

Yes to all of the above except Heart of the Foe on a different character. I plan to play 1-34 Heart... with this character. Return to Sender is 1-23.

Did this character get advanced to second level as a result of the Scoured Stars Veteran boon from 1-99? If so, I will need your exact XP coming in!

    No

Do you have an up-to-date 'bot me' spoiler -- complete with dice expressions? (Subtle, aren't I?)

I will include one in an alias for the pregen I end up bringing.

Will you be willing to bot other characters if I ask you to do so?

Provided I have easy access to the character details.

Do you promise to let me know if you get super busy for a few days so we can bot you?

    Yes

Are you comfortable with a 2 post a day pace?

    Yes

What's been your favorite SFS Adventure with this character, and why?

With this character so far, 1-99 we kicked jinsul carapace!

  • Male Human(Shoanti) Slayer 1

A rather unusual situation at work will have me busy the next few days. I'll get a game thread going when I can fortunately it should be over well before the start date.

When GMing a quest pack, such as SFS 2-03, I know characters are assumed to start each quest refreshed. Can they use equipment found in one quest in the next? For example if they earn a pair of grenades for successfully disarming a trap in the 2nd quest, or kill a drow with some nice equipment in the 1st, can they use these in the 3rd? Or is this "reset" between quests as well?

Black Hole specifically calls out not provoking.

    Yay for another 3-6 repeatable.

Our party just finished Dead Suns Book 1 in campaign mode and I had a question about downtime. I did a search and found that it has been asked before, but the question was buried in another thread and doesn't appear to have been answered so I am hoping it is worthy of it's own topic.

    AP credit, p. 12 wrote:

Campaign Mode: For sanctioned Adventure Paths, GMs are allowed to use their own rules for character creation and running the presented content (the entire book or series). Credit is applied to an appropriate Roleplaying Guild character as if the character created were a pregenerated character.

Downtime for pregens (page 8) wrote:

Downtime: Pregenerated characters can participate in Downtime activities as long as they have the appropriate skills to do so.

How do you resolve downtime for characters receiving "pregen" credit from an AP in Campaign Mode? Do you use the abilities of the character in the AP, which might not follow normal (Starfinder) rules?

Would it not make more sense to allow the character receiving credit to have downtime, including using downtime related boons (Instructor), just like a character receiving GM credit?

No Jadnura for skitters then. I suspect a lot of people have already done this.

I hope we do get clarification on this. I can understand not allowing Jadnura replays for AP books due to the increased rewards, but hopefully modules (skitters) and quest packs are allowed. Novas should be all 4. Though I think currently the only quest pack that is not also considered a scenario is ITU which already has the repeatable tag. Other quest packs such as 1-16 are already listed as numbered scenarios.

The Divine Blessing feat for Talavet reads:

    Pact Worlds pg. 190 wrote:
As a move action, you can grant yourself a bonus as if an ally had succeeded at an aid another check or successfully used cover fire against a foe of your choice. This doesn’t stack with any use of those options. Once you have used this ability, you can’t use it again until you spend 1 Resolve Point during a 10-minute rest to regain Stamina Points.

However I can find no rules for aid another in combat. I assume the use of "aid another" in this sentence is a holdover from PF1 and this is intended to be "Harrying Fire or Covering Fire" rather than "aid another or cover fire", as both harrying and covering are variations of the PF1 aid another action in combat. This would make it more consistent with similar abilities. Is there any other discussion on this?

I'm having trouble finding any vital statistics for Ghibrani (height, weight, age, etc.). I've checked Dead Suns Book 5, Society guide 2.0 and 1.1, Yesteryear's Truth, and Yesteryear's Sorrow, other than they are medium creatures I'm not finding any. Is there any official information on this subject?

Just as an observation: You *could* run Scoured Stars Invasion, couldn't you? Between people who didn't make it previously and people willing to spend a Jadnura boon to play it again (like me!), I bet you could get enough full tables.

I'm personally looking for a 1-99 and was disappointed not to see it for gameday.

This is extremely disappointing. This will do absolutely nothing to increase the likelihood of myself or many others playing at a convention. I would love to given the opportunity, regardless of the exclusivity of any offerings, but for many of us playing at a meatspace convention is simply not feasible, whether due to financial reasons, location, or real world obligations. I've been playing RPGs for decades but I only just started playing SFS this year and I really like the online community I have found on Discord. This decision I think will only serve to anger many fans, not fill seats at conventions.

Alright, so! I have some news: the legacy website is now up at legacy.aonprd.com. It does not contain the search functionality. If you notice anything majorly wrong with accessing the legacy website, please go ahead and post.

I've also updated the blog text to reflect this.

Thank you. I appreciate that Paizo listened to our concerns and addressed them.

Oh and I just realized, I'm about to start a Kingmaker campaign. I had been using the PRD to brush up on the kingdom building rules. Where are these rules on aon? Oh that's right, they aren't there and in another campaign we're nearing the end of chapter 2 of Wrath of the Righteous. Where are the mass combat rules? Nope not on aon. Guess it's over to the unofficial d20pfsrd. Sure the post at aon says they are working on bringing in rules and I have no doubt they will, but how soon, and will they be as well organized?

I politely request Paizo make the pre-existing PRD available to the public, in its entirety, in its pre-existing format, in perpetuity, even if it is never updated again.

I don't care who hosts it.
I don't care what the URL is.
I don't care if the landing page is a giant disclaimer stating aonprd.com is now the authoritative source for PFRPG rules and a big half-grinning half-snarling face of Nethys with big bright hyperlink to aonprd.com.

Heck, I don't care if it's a chibi anime Nethys head as an animated GIF with embedded 8-bit MIDI sound jingle that I have no way of turning off. Just give me back what I had yesterday.

Simply auto-redirecting http://paizo.com/pathfinderRPG/prd/ to aonprd.com was a slap in the face. You did not add anything to the gaming community; you took something away.

^ THIS. Don't get me wrong, I like AoN, I even prefer it for some tasks, but I also prefer the PRD for others. AoN, the PRD, and d20pfsrd (and others) all serve different purposes in my Pathfinder toolbox. Now Paizo has taken one of those tools away from me and I'm left to use a wrench in place of a hammer.

    Nice!

Judging by his skill points, it looks like he's a studious young man. Does he spend most of his time in libraries when he's in the big city? Or does he dislike books as a means of learning?

From an OOC standpoint I usually drop a point in most of the "trained only" skills early on as I dislike not being able to at least attempt a check.

From an IC standpoint Nightwolf respects knowledge in all its forms but believes experience is often the best teacher. It may be some time before I get around to spending more than one point in any single knowledge skill but he has or will gain several other abilities that reflect this attitude including: an expanded class skill list once he multi-classes, Monster Lore, increases in Wis and Int (likely at 8th and 12th respectively and possibly an increase in Wis from mythic Tiers), and of course one of his key abilities is called "Studied Target" and applies increasing bonuses to Knowledge checks vs. his current target(s) as he advances but RAW he still can't use those bonuses on Knowledge checks until trained in the appropriate skill.

I responded to your PM with email/Skype. I'm rarely on skype unless I have reason to be (read usually only during games). My preference is usually for chat over voice, especially for IC conversation but I may use voice as well, again more likely for OOC. Regarding tokens I'll be there early but is there anything else I/we can do to prepare in advance? i.e. certain dimensions you prefer for images. Can we import tokens? I've used Roll20 a little but it's been a while, most of my previous VTT experience comes from MapTool.

Do I understand the timeline correctly that Nightwolf was born in Kenebras, snuck out to have his Chance Encounter when he was 6 or 7, left for the ancestral homeland at the age of 8 (a journey of over a thousand miles, if going the most direct route through very unsafe lands, which works out to a little over a month, if they were on foot, or 25 days if they had horses)and is now returning to the home of his childhood? Is he an only child, as lack of mention of siblings implies?

Sounds about right, though when you put it like that 6 or 7 sounds a little young to be 'The' rite of passage I've read about in Shoanti entries. I've always pictured those as more around early to mid-teens. Possibly/likely he would have also participated in a more traditional rite marking the transition to adulthood some years after returning to the ancestral homeland. Presumably Shoanti actually go through multiple rites throughout their youth and even into old age and each individual is different. I think I read somewhere that the traditional Moon Clan coming of age rite involved navigating through a dark cave, though I don't know how canon that is. I could certainly add that if you like.

Presumably they wouldn't have taken the 'most' direct route (i.e. through the Worldwound or the more dangerous parts of the Hold of Belkzen, though some Shoanti do inhabit the Hold so they likely wouldn't have avoided it altogether either.) Even if the journey took well over a month it isn't a big deal to me. I thought about mentioning siblings but hadn't decided one way or the other. He may or may not have younger brothers and/or sisters, he is certainly the eldest though. I don't like to include too much background at first. I think of it more like a TV show, we know enough about the characters to enjoy it but we learn other details only if/when they come up. Again though I'll add as many details as you want. I'll write a novel if you like.

Sweet doesn't look like my idea would be stepping on any toes then.

Average it is, archery can be an expensive hobby but I've managed to kit him out pretty well with that. I'd hate to roll low now and have to nerf the starting equipment I've already picked out. (Unless of course I'm allowed to roll first and then decide.)

I've added a background to the character sheet (under Additional Information) that I think reasonably explains what brought him to Kenabres. Lyrune-Quah seems like a good choice thematically for an archer.

Slayer 6 skill points + 2 background skills + 1 for being human (probably the one you forgot) = 9 unless I'm mistaken.

Any word on what others are playing? I'm thinking an archery combat style Slayer with the Chance Encounter campaign trait, multi-classing into Inquisitor(Sanctified Slayer) of Desna later, which will continue to progress Studied Target (and SA) bonuses. Should provide nice ranged DPS and a good number of skill points. I can also grab trapfinding later if the party needs it or leave it to someone else. But I can change to fill another party role if needed. Also how are we doing starting gold? I prefer to take max or average over rolling myself.

    Proposed character so far:

    https://www.myth-weavers.com/sheet.html#id=1282550

I'll throw my hat in. I've been wanting to get back into a VTT game.

    stats: 4d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 1, 2) = 14 = 13
    stats: 4d6 ⇒ (2, 6, 3, 1) = 12 = 11
    stats: 4d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 6, 1) = 18 = 17
    stats: 4d6 ⇒ (2, 2, 4, 4) = 12 = 10
    stats: 4d6 ⇒ (4, 6, 1, 6) = 17 = 16
    stats: 4d6 ⇒ (6, 6, 5, 6) = 23 = 18

Truly the dice gods have smiled upon me. I shall come up with something presently.
