Welcome!

I'd really like everyone to post at least once a day, though I understand real life happens. If you expect to be away for a short period please provide notice. Please also include a 'bot me' spoiler.

Chronicle information

In order to fill out a chronicle for you please provide the following information:

Player name:
Character name:
OPF #:
Character #:
Faction:

If you have games planned with the same character between now and the start of Outpost you may wait to provide the following details:

Number for this Chronicle:
Starting XP:
Initial Fame:
Reputation with you slotted faction:
Day Job roll, other downtime activity, or note that you have none:

Character Profiles

Please have a profile header displaying a brief overview of your character's current status. At minimum this should include current/max SP, HP, RP, EAC, KAC, and saves.

In the character profile, please include a complete stat block, or if you prefer to use an external character sheet please provide a link to it.

If you want examples, the PbP GM Kit has the pre-generated characters done in BB Code. Use those as a general guideline.

PbP GM Kit.

Botting

Please include instructions in your profile and a general tactics in case someone else needs to bot your character. I highly recommend this include the dice expressions used for common actions. Again see the PbP Kit link above if you are unfamiliar with this.

If there are resources you don't mind being used up by botting, please say so. If there are resources you never want someone using, please say that as well.

If you prefer, you may specify who you want to run your character when you can't post.

Creating a bot structure can help with your own posts as well. Assuming you put complete dice expressions in the botting directions, it makes it easy to cut and paste.

Initiative in PbP

I will roll all Initiative checks for PCs and NPCs, sort them, and organize them into blocks. I will bold the names of characters that should act. I will take NPC actions in order and may use a single roll for multiple NPCs or delay an NPC in order to make them act in a group.

When it is your turn to act, please post. Do not wait for someone else to post just because they had a higher Initiative. If you know what you want to do but want to wait for someone else's action to go off first, just say so.

I (and most other PbP GMs) do grouped Initiative in order to keep the adventure moving. In PbP people will have different posting schedules and often live in different time zones, Waiting for posts in order could make a single round of combat take days to resolve.

Within the rules, it is as if everyone within the same Initiative block delayed until they could post.

Rules Questions

GMs are only omniscient inside the game world, in the real world we are human (or other sentient species) and that means we do make mistakes. If there are rules concerns, please raise them in the discussion thread rather than the gameplay thread so we can all learn.

Thanks and I look forward to playing with you!

Welcome!

This is part of a special so it will be critical that we run a fast game.

I really want everyone to be able to post at least once a day, preferably 2. If you do not believe you are capable of this I ask that you please consider signing up for a slower pace session instead. I do understand real life comes first so if you expect to be away for a short period please provide notice. Please also include a 'bot me' spoiler.

At the appropriate time, I will ask that you also post your slotted boons. That will happen after the game starts.

Two Boons that are important to this Special:

Acquainted with Datch (Ally): from 2-01 Pact World Warriors
Big Win against Big Potion (Slotless): from 2-17 Cost of Living.

Even in a normal game, that slows things down too much. In a special, you would never have time to complete anything.

Within the rules, it is as if everyone within the same Initiative block delayed until they could post.

Rules Questions

I am always happy to indoctrinate introduce new players to my one of my favorite hobbies; however at this tier I expect players to know how their characters work and the rules in general fairly well. I am not perfect however, if there are rules concerns, please post them in the discussion thread rather than interrupting the gameplay thread with rules debates.

Thanks and I look forward to playing with you!

Maybe this is an old discussion since the (CRB) pregens have been out for almost 3 years now but if it is my google-fu is failing me. The level 8 Navasi pregen's version of the level 6 Outlaw theme ability Legal Corruption is significantly different than the CRB version.

Navasi wrote:
Legal Corruption Navasi needs to pay only 2 Fame when using the Basic Purchasing Plan boon to reduce her Infamy score (down from 4).
CRB wrote:

LEGAL CORRUPTION (6TH)

Your underworld contacts have serious pull with the corporations and the authorities and can get you out of just about any legal trouble—as long as you're willing to pay the right price. Depending on the severity of the crime, this can be anywhere between 500 credits × your character level and 10,000 credits × your character level.

This makes a certain amount of sense in Society play, but is this addressed anywhere? It isn't listed on the Additional Resources page as nothing from the CRB is. It isn't listed in the Society Guide as it simply says "All themes listed in the Starfinder Core Rulebook are available for play.". It isn't listed on the organized play FAQ.

I understand the pregens are "play as is" but what about other characters with the outlaw theme, should they be using this version of Legal Corruption for Society play? If so how would players know this?

Welcome!

This table is part of the Outpost III SFS 2-00 Fate of the Scoured God multi-table special. Please make sure you are signed up for this table on the Outpost III sign-up sheet. The game cannot start before Mar 30 but feel free post in the OoC Discussion before then. As this is a multi-table special a fast pace will be especially important.

Chronicle information

Please provide the following information:

Player name:
Character name:
Organized Play# & Character #:
Faction:
Day Job Credits Earned, or note if you have none what other activity you are performing.

At the appropriate time, I will ask that you also post your slotted boons. That will happen after the game starts. There are a number of boons recommended for this special.

Character Profiles

Please have a profile header displaying a brief overview of your character's current status. At minimum it should include current/maximum SP, HP, Resolve, EAC, KAC, & saves.

In the character profile, please include a complete stat block. If you have your character sheet on a different site, please have a link to it.

I highly recommend the following template but it is not required.

Botting

Botting is when someone else makes a roll or otherwise does something on behalf of your character. Bot is short for robot.

Please include instructions in your profile and a general tactics in case someone else needs to bot your character. I highly recommend this include the dice expressions used for common actions.

Initiative in PbP

I will roll all Initiative checks for PCs and NPCs, sort them, and organize them into blocks. I will bold the names of characters that should act.

Rules Questions

If there are rules questions, please post them in the discussion thread. GM's are teople poo so please do not be afraid to question if I have made a mistake. One of the advantages of PBP is it allows some time to research rules questions.

Please ninja dot. (Post then delete your post).

When GMing a quest pack, such as SFS 2-03, I know characters are assumed to start each quest refreshed. Can they use equipment found in one quest in the next? For example if they earn a pair of grenades for successfully disarming a trap in the 2nd quest, or kill a drow with some nice equipment in the 1st, can they use these in the 3rd? Or is this "reset" between quests as well?

Our party just finished Dead Suns Book 1 in campaign mode and I had a question about downtime. I did a search and found that it has been asked before, but the question was buried in another thread and doesn't appear to have been answered so I am hoping it is worthy of it's own topic.

AP credit, p. 12 wrote:

Campaign Mode: For sanctioned Adventure Paths, GMs are allowed to use their own rules for character creation and running the presented content (the entire book or series). Credit is applied to an appropriate Roleplaying Guild character as if the character created were a pregenerated character.

Downtime for pregens (page 8) wrote:

Downtime: Pregenerated characters can participate in Downtime activities as long as they have the appropriate skills to do so.

How do you resolve downtime for characters receiving "pregen" credit from an AP in Campaign Mode? Do you use the abilities of the character in the AP, which might not follow normal (Starfinder) rules?

Would it not make more sense to allow the character receiving credit to have downtime, including using downtime related boons (Instructor), just like a character receiving GM credit?

The Divine Blessing feat for Talavet reads:

Pact Worlds pg. 190 wrote:
As a move action, you can grant yourself a bonus as if an ally had succeeded at an aid another check or successfully used cover fire against a foe of your choice. This doesn’t stack with any use of those options. Once you have used this ability, you can’t use it again until you spend 1 Resolve Point during a 10-minute rest to regain Stamina Points.

However I can find no rules for aid another in combat. I assume the use of "aid another" in this sentence is a holdover from PF1 and this is intended to be "Harrying Fire or Covering Fire" rather than "aid another or cover fire", as both harrying and covering are variations of the PF1 aid another action in combat. This would make it more consistent with similar abilities. Is there any other discussion on this?

I'm having trouble finding any vital statistics for Ghibrani (height, weight, age, etc.). I've checked Dead Suns Book 5, Society guide 2.0 and 1.1, Yesteryear's Truth, and Yesteryear's Sorrow, other than they are medium creatures I'm not finding any. Is there any official information on this subject?
