This looks like it would be great for people who buy a lot of stuff without subscriptions or don't really care about the society scenarios, but I think it may be worse for me. It will definitely be a hassle. I have six subscriptions, which for now gives me 15% off all purchases and free Starfinder and Pathfinder scenarios, and I've been happy with this. I'm trying to crunch the numbers to see if the gold I'll earn over a year will be enough to get all of the scenarios. I don't think it will. If there's two scenarios for each system per month and you're at legendary tier for the 15% discount, then $9 x 15% x 2 = $15.30 for Pathfinder + $5 x 15% x 2 = $8.50 for Starfinder comes to a total of $23.80 for each month's scenarios. That could be 150 gold with $6.20 left over or 100 gold + $3.80 out of pocket. I don't know if that $6.20 would get carried over, but any vouchers I've ever spent here have been use it or lose it, so I assume these would work the same. So if you want all of the scenarios as they are published, and assuming you have enough gold, you're either going to be (a) paying a little out of pocket each month, (b) wasting a bunch of gold, or (c) busting out your old linear programming textbook to determine the best mix of scenarios to buy to minimize the wasted gold and out-of-pocket expense. The answer to (c) is:
If my math is right (or if my maths are right), then over the course of a year that equals an average of 1425 gold, minus 25 for birthday and at 1.5 gold per dollar spent is $933/year. That's more than I'm spending now. Edited to add: Those figures assume 2 scenarios per system every month. If a season is 20 scenarios plus two specials, then the minimum legendary spending + birthday bonus + writing five reviews earns just enough gold for all the non-special scenarios. When is this anticipated to start? I'm pretty close to the line between master and legendary, and I want to make sure I'm on the good side of the line when they do the tally.

The one map that uses flip tiles isn't labeled as to which tiles go where. The tile numbers and rotations are: First row: 10B (180), 08B, 02b (-90)

I just came here to ask the same question. My guess is that it's a typo, since the Starfinder backpack on the same chronicle is explicitly called out as being discounted, but I was hoping for official clarification.

I don't understand this paragraph under Spending EP. Quote: Special: Once per round, you can spend Evolution Points with no effect to regain control of your body. If you use this ability as a move action, you can spend up to 2 EP. If you use this ability as a standard action, you can spend up to 4 EP. If you use this ability as a full action, you can spend up to 6 EP. What does it mean to regain control of one's body, and when would you need to spend the higher amounts of EP to do it?

I'm trying to get a sense for how many months of game time should pass / how many "charter turns" the players should get by the time they get to part 3. I didn't find anything in this book that tells me how developed their charter should be when they start the next book. What I don't want is for my players' charter to end up way behind or way ahead of the NPC charters just because I gave them too few or too many charter turns. Does anybody have any thoughts on this?

Is there a page missing? spoiler: In the low tier Match One Encore, if you roll 5-6 then the players fight pterosaurs, but there is no page in the appendix with the stats and box text.
I have the pterosaur stats from Alien Archive 2 and I can make up color commentary if I need to, so I really only need to know how many of these things the players are supposed to face. I'm guessing it must be 4 because that's how many CR 3 creatures it takes to make a CR 7 encounter.

I just played Live Exploration Extreme last week, so looking forward to this one, even though Wazasha shot my character down pretty hard when he tried to get a date with her. Looks like I have until October or so to get that character up to 5th level.

My problem is the same as Serpentine Owl's in this thread: https://paizo.com/threads/rzs42y31?Problem-with-Order-15571726 I placed this order on the 12th and came back today to check the status. It's showing status=Complete for zero items at $0.00. I was on the site yesterday to place an order for some digital items yesterday and saw all of these items still sitting in my cart, so I deleted them from my cart so I could add the new items. The new items are still sitting in my cart now, even though I have already completed the order and downloaded them. My credit card was never charged for this order either. Should I submit a new order, or is this one still going to go through?

They aren't eliminating wands of CLW. They will still effective for low level characters. If you're high enough level that you need to blow through an entire wand of CLW to get back up to full HP, you're high enough level to be able to afford a wand with a more powerful healing spell. I agree with some other posters upthread who find it odd when wands containing divine spells are for sale by the bundle at the local Magic Mart. Nobody ever cares which deity granted the spell to the cleric who made those wands. Why do deities just sit there and allow it if a party is using spells it granted in opposition to its goals? It make no sense to me that a wand of CLW crafted by a Cleric of, say, Desna would function completely normally in the hands of a character on a mission to serve Asmodeus.

Kerrilyn wrote: ..there's even a metric foot.. The metric foot seems like it would be much more useful if it were 1/3 meter instead of 30 cm. At 30 cm, there aren't an even number of metric feet in a meter. To me, the biggest disadvantage of the metric system is there aren't as many ways to evenly subdivide things. It's great for dividing by 10s, not so great when you need other divisors. I guess since feet and inches are so practical for a lot of things, they came up with "metric feet" and "metric inches" that are very close to the imperial counterpart. Maybe that's the solution here. When people in metric countries read measurements in Pathfinder, they can simply assume metric feet.

I think it should have both. I have been told that the Spanish translation already has both. It has the imperial measurement followed by the metric measurement in parentheses. I think it makes more sense to use imperial units by default in a medieval fantasy game, but it's good to also include the metric units for people who aren't familiar with the imperial units and have trouble visualizing them.

Steve Geddes wrote: There’ll no doubt be calls for PF1 -> PF2 conversion documents too, but I actually think that’ll be less important (from a community happiness perspective). A PF1 -> PF2 conversion document is exactly what I want. It would allow me to continue using my library of PF1 sources in a PF2 game. Such a document would allow folks to play, say, a kyton-spawn tiefling gunslinger (or whatever) if they want as soon as PF2 comes out, instead of having to wait for whenever the later books come out. Allowing people to play their favorite kinds of characters straight away would help migration.

Exactly. "Hit a little harder but with less a little less accuracy" seems like a thing anyone should be able to just do, without needing a special feat. I'm a fan of the work that the Elephant in the Room people did with feats. I'd like to see something like that.

Is there any word on how forwards compatible 1e source books will be with the 2e rules? After replacing our 1e Core Rulebooks with the 2e version, will we be able to use the other 1e source books (including 3pp) we may have in a 2e game with minimal conversion effort? If someone wants to play a tiefling gunslinger or a peri-blooded aasimar psion in 2e after the new Core Rulebook comes out, will that be easy to do? How much conversion effort is involved if a GM wants to use some critters out of Bestiary 4 that haven't made it into 2e yet? If this is all straightforward then that will make the transition a lot easier and will also make me feel better about my recent large purchase of 1e source books. I hate to think that they will just gather dust if/when I switch to 2e.

I have a friend who spent like $1200 on D&D 3e rulebooks and they are just sitting on a shelf collecting dust because no one plays that edition any more. When I decided to get back into role-playing, I didn't want to spend a bunch of money on D&D 5e rulebooks and then can't use them because everyone else is playing 6e now. One of the reasons I chose Pathfinder over D&D was that Paizo didn't seem to be playing the game of getting customers to spend hundreds of dollars on rulebooks only to turn around and make them obsolete by releasing new editions. |
