"They certainly acted evil. If they were merely protecting their territory they would have let us go in peace but instead they elected to kill us all. I think the world would be safer if they didn't wake up." Despite her personal feelings, Veres doesn't kill the boggards without the groups consent. I wasn't getting updates for this thread for some reason, but suddenly today I had dozens! I should have checked in anyway, so please accept my apologies. Having been quiet up till now, Veres finally chimes in addressing the boggards. "Your Great Mother is right to punish thieves. We believe in that as well. The true thieves are a tribe called the Aspis Consortium, and we are hunting for them. This man could help us punish them. Perhaps we could work together to hunt them and prevent them from stealing any of your Great Mother's treasures. Would that be something you are interested in?" diplomacy: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (13) + 11 = 24 If I missed something in the large amount of posts, and this has been done already, ignore me, and Veres instead gets ready to fight along side her team with a song on her lips for just such an occasion as fighting frogmen in their home.

Graciously taking the young dwarven woman's hand, Veres dips her head and smiles pleasantly. "I am afraid, much like the rest of this group, I have only heard tales of your uncles exploits and never met him personally. From what I have heard though, seek him out in Absalom at the lodge there. He is said to frequent it, looking to join others on the many missions offered there." She turns to the other new arrivals, and greets each in their own way, bowing, shaking hands, or merely nodding if the case may be. "It is a pleasure, truly, to meet all of you." she starts with a velvety voice. "While I usually sing for my supper, as the saying goes, I will offer what combat assistance is necessary, preferring to use my bow over joining melee if I can help it." Looking to Ushi specifically, her eyes take on a new intensity, not all together unpleasant. She looks for any identifying sigils or holy symbols that might suggest a divine patron. Finding none, she sudden realizes something and launches into an excited rush of words. "A prophet? How wonderful! You must tell me of your divine insights and how they take form. From your dress and manners I would say you are a follower of the Prophecies of Kalistrade? I myself am studying the way of Sarenrae's paladins, and hope one day to join their ranks, scourging evil from the lands. Alas, I still have much to learn still before that happens."

Veres here. Pleasure to be here and looking forward to Aug 13th! Sordid tales are my happy place. Nice to meet you Hullric! I will be providing re-rolls on failed attacks and skill checks or saves as needed via Timely Inspiration and Saving Finale, but I will ask each of you to call it out when you are using one. Veres lets out a sigh of relief (as does her player) once the silvery goo seems secured in the crate. "I hope Nigel realizes his folly with this exhibit. An idea suddenly hits Veres like a ray of sunlight through a cloudy sky. Maybe it needs power, like magic, to function? Maybe that techno gun thing has a source I could use. know engineering?: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24 Looking at both the crate and the gun, Veres frantically tries to figure out how she might get it to work. "I am not sure if this will work, but I think maybe this thing requires power and this gun could be a source for it! Anyone able to help me?" Anyone with disable device? I think we went over this already and that was a no. This may be a terrible waste of time, and if so I apologize. It's all I can think of at the moment. That or jam a shocking arrow into the crate and sort of jump start it. Also, if anyone has a way to effect a swarm with electricity, we might be able to hurt it, because I think it will have a similar vulnerability to that like many of the other techno creatures have encountered. I would use the arrows or the gun if I thought it would effect the swarm, but that's the trouble with swarms made up of really small things. They are immune to weapons that don't do area effect damage.

As she runs along with Brayne, guiding the unconscious form of Pendleton, Veres calls to the team, "I've got my wand ready to heal Kulga. I don't know how many uses I will have before the goo is upon us. If Brayne can carry Pendleton by himself for a few seconds I can try to open the box so Garduk can focus on summoning the animal while the rest of you run past it." CLW wand: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4 Of course Brayne can heal the group also, and he is stronger than I am and can likely carry Pendleton past so if he heals Kulga that is fine. AoE attacks vs a swarm is usually good, but no idea if that would work vs this thing. Not sure if we did a knowledge check on the swarm once we got a look at it or not. I know we tried with the remnants of the goo down below and didn't get much if anything. These maybe handy too. I also re-read when the men were talking about the hazard crate from Numeria being opened and the silver goo getting free. Veres moves in to close with the gearsman, drawing her rapier as she does. "Maybe I can find a chink in it's metal hide and break a gear or two!" she cries out. Rapier: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22
I figured I would need a crit to be able to do enough damage to even mark the thing, so I switched to the rapier, but it doesn't look like I managed it this round. I also wanted to get into melee in case Lenny went down so I could still offer a flank for Kulga.

Veres warns, ”Be careful of the boy! That thing took him over in just moments from all accounts!” With her strong voice filled with promise and hope, Veres begins another uplifting song. She inches closer to the battle, some strategy in mind for the coming moments. Any actions in round 2 that have already been posted should have +1 to hit and damage added in from Inspire Courage.

No pre-combat buffs from Veres, as she wouldn't start a song until she knows there is a threat. I'll wait till it's her turn in initiative to post an action.

Veres quickly drops her knocked arrow and starts another inspiring song, all while flexing her wrist to release her wand of cure light wounds to her now waiting hand. She moves closer to Brayne and the others, ready to activate the wand's healing magic as soon as she can.

Veres nods to Garduk, then follows behind him, her bow still out and ready. She listens intently for sounds of movement. perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16

"Your spear Brayne! It's causing it to heal faster than you can hurt it with each strike!" Veres calls out to Brayne. I don't know if it's actually healing more than it's taking, but it's sure good at hanging on. You could use your spear to do blunt damage instead, treating it as an improvised weapon with a -4 to hit.

Veres lines up another shot, desperate to help her friend Brayne, the last notes of her song fading from her mind as she lets the shaft fly.

This weekend I am traveling and I expect to be pretty busy. It's a last minute trip about buying a new house. I will be able to post, but infrequently until the evenings.

Veres steps back, her song's lingering effect almost over, and shoots at the remaining hungry flesh. "Wither and die you quivering mass of flesh!" Bow Shot+PBS+IC+bless-4 melee: 1d20 + 6 + 1 + 1 + 1 - 4 ⇒ (10) + 6 + 1 + 1 + 1 - 4 = 15
