Not having any of the necessary skills for this endeavor Variel offers to go shopping for the group. I am short some gold here but was wondering if we should pool some resources together and get a wand of healing. If we need to take out these red cloaks you never know when some extra healing will be needed. Variel will gather the pearls they got from the stables to get them appraised and sell them for the group to see how much they are worth before looking for a wand of healing. GM RePete, there are 12 pearls that we never got a value on originally. If you could let us know what they are worth I will add them to the list.

Variel tries to recall the thugs last night if they were wearing red cloaks or not… Int 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17 This sounds a lot like the problem I ran into last night. Not sure if it was a coincidence or not but we need to stop these thugs and keep getting the city to support us. We can only do so much without the Will of the people. And Litsy we would be much different than these Jills as we are helping people not mugging them. I seem to recall a group in Westcrown that was the same way. Bastards of Erebus they were called until a group finally ended their threat. The city supported that group and why wouldn’t Kintargo then support us? How do we go about locating them? Roaming neighborhoods looking for red cloaks? Invisible reconnaissance from the skies? Litsy, you seem to know people, any contacts you can make?

At about this time Variel enters the bakery (he was gathering some info in the morning whilst you all were gallivanting around in a carriage), Morning everyone! I tell you I had one of the best night sleeps I have had in a long time. Woke up refreshed and decided to walk around this morning a bit. Did you know that there is a traveling show arriving tomorrow that is supposed to have a pet hydra and a pet manticore? That is what Ernest was saying 4 blocks from here. Variel keeps the small talk up as he looks around the bakery looking to see if there is anyone else there. It wouldn't do to have more snoops around coming to ask questions. Finding the place empty, assuming so based on prior conversation, Variel asks quietly, Is the Sister recovered and safe below?

The chirping birds outside woke Variel with the realization that he could likely communicate with the group and inform them of how he fared. Pulling free his magical raven he activates it to send a message to Tiny. At home, safe. Will be at bakery later to meet up if need be. Stay safe. Variel then works on his morning ablutions before heading out to the city and seeing what the news was after yesterday's activities. Variel’s nose twitched in his sleep as somewhere someone was thinking about him. Not too concerned about it he rolled over to his other side and grabbed 1 of his 3 fluffy down pillows and snuggled deeper into the warm blankets of his secure house.

Variel fishes out a few silver coins from his pouch and gives them to Devorik. No arguments...if need be you can consider it a loan or money towards future purchases. I just want to make sure that you can stay on your feet and keep going. Hopefully change is coming this way. If you hear anything noteworthy while you are selling your goods you come find me. With Devorik taken care of Variel slips through the city on the way home to a nice warm house and a soft bed. I wonder how the others are doing? he thinks to himself comfortable in what they accomplished this night.

I am good with Variel being in the front for normal marching and moving. With scouting formation I am thinking Litsy in the front and Variel second as support? Not wanting to risk being drawn into an ambush Variel stops at Devorik and lets the thugs flee. Offering a hand to the injured man Variel gives him time and space if he needs it before getting to his feet. I am sorry for not being here sooner. Too many thugs in this town are acting too freely without anyone trying to rein them in. Variel stares down the street the way the thugs fled for a few seconds before coming back to the present. What can I do for you? How much did those thugs get away with? Yes this incarnation of Variel is a human but the first character ever created with this alias was an elf.

Variel was about to congratulate himself on moving away from the fight and blending into the hustle and bustle of city life. He even was about to start whistling until he saw Devorik the meat pie vendor being ruffed up by some tieflings. Cursing his luck that he was alone with just his sap Variel still felt compelled to help Devorik out. Cast shield as he draws his sap and imbues it. Hey! Get away from him you hooligans.

Variel hurries his way away from the area but as soon as he rounds the corner out of sight he casts prestidigitation on himself to clean his cloak and equipment before nonchalantly walking the rest of the way. He will even pause to buy some food from a local merchant and eat that as he moves on trying to give an air of nothing is amiss.

Variel gives the dog another swift slap with the sap to keep it at bay before backing off with the others now that Litsy and Merelda have gotten to the Sister. I believe that handle animal is trained only if you are training an animal. You can use handle animal or push untrained.

Oblivious to what is going on north of him Variel hopes that Litsy is holding her own and doesn't kill anyone she shouldn't...Merelda being at the top of the list. He then hurries his way along the east side of the pool moving as fast as he can to free the Sister.

Variel finishes his spell as the guard nearest to him feels overcome with a drowsiness he can’t resist (hopefully). Will save dc 14 Should the guard fall asleep Variel will move over and kick Beorn awake as he calls out to the sister to escape this way. VAriel 5 ft backs away from the sleeping guards and starts to cast his own sleep spell. Hopefully he can finish it in time before the 4th guard gets to him. If so then he has a chance to sleep the guard on Litsy and Merelda and then focus his energies on the guard approaching him and Pollux.

Variel jumps forward as both Beorn and one of the guards slump to the ground. Calling upon his magics Variel targets the last of the guards with a color spray hopefully knocking him out of the fight. Variel is in full agreement that he needs to act but is hoping the guards get a little closer to each other before he casts his spell on them. Cant ready an action out of combat but that is Variel’s intent.

Variel stopped paying attention to the guards as Beorn started his performance. Clearly the man was either a genius or more insane than Pollux. At the moment Variel wasn't sure which one. He then realized that he was the closest party member to Beorn and had the best view of the 'show'. Turning away quickly and averting his eyes he misses the guards approaching. Needing to get closer for his color spray spell Variel walks closer to the performer. He has one hand raised blocking his eyes from the sight (and covering his face and features at the same time) the other is holding out a cloak towards Beorn. By the gods, man, cover yourself up. Is there no decency left in the world?

Variel keeps well back from the pond as to not draw attention to himself. If needs be he lets Litsy move ahead as she is much quieter and sneakier than he. Yet even from the distance he can spot the Sister, guards and dogs. It seemed easy enough with the dogs chained that take out the 4 guards and slip away on the edge of the pond. He was tempted to try it right now in fact after seeing the Sister struggle to get food. Lets go get the others and report to them what we found. The sooner we get back the better.

Variel taps Litsy lightly on the top of her head as he lets out a small chuckle. Don't worry, I will not be distracted from our current goal in rescuing our sister. But it is good to establish boundaries and communicate each other's thoughts and feelings. Pollux and I have come to a better understanding of who each other is and that will only help us in the long run. Turning to Merelda he softly admonishers her and Litsy at the same time before ending his thoughts on the matter and moving out to help the Sister. While I do appreciate hearing people's thoughts and opinions let us not lose the fact that we are all 1 team and need to work together. Insults and squabbles like calling Pollux 'it' or 'nutter' or speaking as if he isn't here does not help the situation. Disagreements are expected but we still need to respect each other. Of Course after supporting Pollux I am not certain that he will say something to prove Variel completely wrong and that he is certifiably crazy.

Variel’s face drops as Pollux states he has no family. I…I am sorry Pollux. I know what it means to lose family and luh, loved ones. I did not mean to bring up bad or painful memories. Variel looks like he is about to say more, or at least wants to, but is too caught up in his own emotions. Thankfully, maybe, Merelda is there to fill the silence until he can compose himself. Pollux I do not want you to be me or I like you as we are all unique and being different perspectives. While I might not always agree with you I will always be willing to listen to what you have to say. And thank you for considering sparing the dogs.

Variel pockets the note as he reads Litsy’s lips about later. Once alone he will look at it more in depth. Back on the topic of the rescue Variel tries to answer Litsy’s and Pollux’s comments. Litsy I do not mean to dress up but rather have hooded cloaks just to cover our faces so we can not be identified yet. Seems like Merelda is in agreement with that. Anything flashier will just make the Sisters a target later. Pollux I would hesitate to use the poison as it is not the dogs’ fault they are being starved. Better to free them, feed them, or put them to sleep. Beorn if you can distract the guards and flee away safely that would be great! What would you need to help pull this off?

We found some raven statuettes that allow communication between people for short durations. Once we got established and you became a full member you would receive one. It sounds like the dogs are held nearby so no need to split up and use the ravens.

If Variel was able to buy the items mentioned in the discussion thread… I agree Merelda. We go in covered or disguised, feed the dogs, sleep the guards, steal the Sister and escape as soon easily as possible. No need for a fight if we can help it. I picked up some cloaks that we can use and mix and match them to keep covered. I don’t plan on bringing my scimitar either as it will be too noticeable after the mine raid. A sap, dagger and few darts that easy to conceal will be all the weapons I am bringing this time. If I can help it no deaths, just knocking people out.

At the word that one of the Sisters is being ‘doghouses’ Variel grabs his gear and is ready to head out. We don’t have much time to get to her before she gets too hungry and has to face the dogs. A quick scout is needed so we know what we are facing but we can’t take too much time doing so. In, out, and as little fuss as possible I would think. Beorn that is a good idea to free the hounds where they are held. I can try to put the hounds or guards to sleep magically. Litsy do you think you could handle any locks or manacles that might be holding our Sister in place? If Beorn is away handling the dogs then do we have Merelda join Litsy and I so she can help talk our way out of any situations we might need a diplomat for? Then Pollux and Castor could join Beorn to give him some back up? Or we just all head to free the Sister first then make for the kennels after that? What time is it?
