Was I successful in 'procuring' a wagon with horse and driver for a few hours?
The Abyss Staring Back
I will need a diplomacy roll for the gathering of colourful thugs
This led her to stop thinking like a revolutionary and to approach things with the eyes of someone who knew the needs of young couples and entrepreneurial prostitutes. She headed to the Villegre district, a place where money and youth often intermingled. Many of the coaches and carriages stopped with their horses alongside the road were waiting for patrons or were otherwise indisposed. But that wasn't important. She simply used the inquiries as an excuse to get close and peek inside the cabs to find what she was looking for. Many hours into her search she finally found what she was looking for, a coach with a soft interior, plenty of room for the comfort of its passengers, and most importantly blinders for privacy. Its driver was a large round and hairy man by the name of Mortimer who possessed an easy smile and the sort of attractiveness a woman of certain tastes would trip herself over. It didn't help that after a short conversation Merelda could tell he was genuinely gentle and kind. Even the way he refused her patronage because he was waiting on his lady was warm in a way reminiscent of reassuring head strokes and warm hugs.
But it didn't take long for some aoft prodding for him to profess that hia pateons didn't need his services at all hours and that he offered services to lovely young couples in need of privacy in these trying times. Normally, they'd approach him as youre doing now and they'd ask if he was avaulabke for the evening. After talking over price and letting them know the terms he would pick them up in the evening and ride out of the city in the evening to one of a few nice spits he knew and leave them to it. Sometimes he'd sleep under the atars, sometimes he'd lead the horses down the road to an in where he'd get a drink and bring the couple back in the morning.

It seems Beorn has lucked out! Perhaps he has met the musicians he encountered during the protest, or that his patron Madam Declour is available and introduces him to some aspiring musicians and actors! Now he must get the lyrics and scene ready. Busy busy! They have a short time to rehearse.

You approach the lily pond to observe the excruciation to find things in relative peace. The four guards here, cheliax citizen group all, leaning on halberds and keeping peiple from the walk ways leading to the central island tell anyone who lingers to move along. On the island itself are two chained dogs in the center sleeping in the shade while in the southeastern cornwr stands a large and ominous doghouse with dozens of nails hammered in from the sides and roof. In a scene that looks almost wholesome another group member ealks onto the island carrying three large bowls sensing his approach the dogs get up and bark excitedly jumping up and down and running around him barely containing their excitement and the guard his laughter.
His face sudddenly turning stern he turns to the doghouse and yells "Come get your scraps dog!"
He then quuckly sets all three bowls down on the ground and steps away quickly as the dogs pounce on the food pausing their gorging only to snap and skirmish briefly with one another over the food. The other guards turn to glance at the island.
From your hidden spot your breath catches in your throat as you see the tengu sister crawl her way out of the dog house. Conpletely naked and covered in injuries indicating a recent beating she slowly gets herself off the ground looking warily at the small pack making a large mess of the food as they scuffle with eachother. Stepping carefully towards the dogs she gets a look of calculation on her face as the giards cheer and jeer the "dog" on, taking bets between themselves. Then, in one swift stride the tengu is among them, bow in hand kicking, squawking, pecking and screaming with all the fury of her smaller cousins. The shock and confusion of the dogs buys her just enough time to hobble back to the doghouse before the hounds gather their sense up to chase her to the very ends of their chains barking and pulling taut in a vain attempt to reach her. Though brief the fresh blood trail leading from her attack shows she did not come out unscathed. The giards exchange money with eachother find the entire thing hilarious.

Is the rest of the group nearby, or did we go alone?
The hood of the elven cloak covering her head, Litsy watches the whole scene, standing next to Variel, a look of disgust on her face. "And they think it's entertainment," she whispers low through gritted teeth.
I can't access the map for some reason, GM! I'm stuck on the loading page. Is the sister locked in? Is there some kind of gate?
The Abyss Staring Back
Alone. To scout it out before evening.
Try it later and if its not working by tommprrow ill see what i can do.
The sister is not locked or chained up in any real way, but the guards ait at the walkways and pond surrounds on all sides. Its clear to litsy that no matter what the sister would get a halberd to her face.
Variel Nightstorm
|
Variel keeps well back from the pond as to not draw attention to himself. If needs be he lets Litsy move ahead as she is much quieter and sneakier than he. Yet even from the distance he can spot the Sister, guards and dogs. It seemed easy enough with the dogs chained that take out the 4 guards and slip away on the edge of the pond. He was tempted to try it right now in fact after seeing the Sister struggle to get food. Lets go get the others and report to them what we found. The sooner we get back the better.
Tiny Litsy
I don't know whether my Wifi or the app was the problem, but Roll20 works just fine now
"Agreed," Litsy eyes the scene one last time, committing it to memory, before slipping away discreetly.
Once back at the Raven's headquarters, she explains the group what they've learned. "There'll be no lock for me to pick," she concludes. "But I can still hurry the sister away," she points at the elven garment. "The cloak will help hide her face."
"Beorn, the mercenaries were split into two groups, each on one side of the pond. You think you can still create big enough of a diversion to lure them away? Some of them might stay behind to keep watch over the dogs and the sister."

so to double check.
Litsy variel and pollux will arrive sometime before curfew to get into position.
Merelda will either go with the above 3 or meet up with their ride to secure an exit.
Beorn will take a crew of miscreants and protest the excruciation at or past curfew to draw some of the guards away while the other three or four enact vwngeance. Is that right?
Merelda "The Widow" Widdomeria
I was hoping pay the carriage driver to meet us a block or two away in an alley from the activity so he can be nearby if needed, but not in immediate danger himself. That way I can help directly with the rescue.

Beorn and his cohorts in musical misconduct lurked in the alleyways near where their daring rescue would take place. They had the costumes, the practice and some instruments for drawing attention and the magical scrolls to let their voices carry.
Beorn fidgeted in his concealing cloak. His outfit was somewhat rushed and there was some itching between his shoulders as well but he kept in the cool shadows to keep from sweating which would be a disaster considering the time he had spent getting ready. The others had simplier outfits fortunately, making them look like house staff with some colorful embellishments.
Yes, things will go as planned. Either way he will be quite the distraction.

(Map link? I seem to have misplaced it somehow.)
In any case Pollux will be 5' behind the fighter/meat shield types. Likely Variel.
Assuming Pollux can at least brush against him every minute or so and the intermittent muttering doesn't get on anyone's nerves Variel will find his mind and body more steady than either should be. The world is almost painfully clear. (Casting Guidence. +1 competence on a single attack roll, saving throw, or skill check. Single use. Duration 10 rounds.)

Yup. No Map link yet? I searched and you said something in the past about direct messages?
Tiny Litsy
Litsy pulls her hood over her face, and asks Merelda to tell her exactly where the carriage driver will be waiting for them.
Once she can spot them, she nods, and with a whispered "Good luck," she's gone.
She looks for an inconspicuous spot that's some distance from the guards, while close enough to the island to rush there when the dogs have been taken care of. There she remains hidden, a shadow amongst other shadows. I'll move my token later if I have the time, but basically she moves a bit closer to the island while remaining at least 15ft away from the guards.

Thought I put one up. Theres one posted in discussion by Litsy. Just make a message in the roll20 chat so i can give you token control.
Ill post the map in the campaign details.

I have other games on Roll20. I tried the posted link. Just says 'NOT AUTHORIZED' in big letters.
After giving Litsy the direction of the alley where the driver is waiting, Merelda stays as close to her as she can without giving the rogue's position away in case she is spotted on her own. She doesn't really plan to get closer yet until the 'bearded distraction' arrives.
Stealth: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11
Unsure what weapon she might need, if any, Merelda decides to leave her hands free for now. When the hour closes on the appointed time for the distraction, she will cast a simple Disguise Self spell upon herself to appear more in line with a stocky female human inquisitor of Asmodeous...with red hair. She places the simple cloth mask everyone brought with them over her face, once her new look settles.
Disguise (Unskilled) w/Disguise Self spell bonus: 1d20 + 1 + 10 ⇒ (11) + 1 + 10 = 22

Beorn was hidden behind the statue in a full length hooded cloak while the other actors milled about as if they were rubber neckers come to view today's bird abuse. Suddenly two people walked on loudly complaining about their broken wagon and if anyone could help them. The conversations were oddly loud, as they were amplified by the magical scrolls and there was a thumping beat sounding as Beorn stomped his foot he then emerged from behind the statue and threw off his hood to show his Stage face
His face was done with pale make-up and his lips were bright red with black highlights and his expertly coiffed hair stood out as he smiled wide..
How d'you do, I
See you've met my
Faithful handyman
He's just a little brought down because
When you knocked
He thought you were the candy man
Don't get strung out by the way that I look
Don't judge a book by its cover
I'm not much of a man by the light of day
But by night I'm one hell of a lover
He then strode along the edge of the pool flourishing with his hands until he hit the first crescendo and threw off his cloak to reveal himself in all his glory
I'm just a sweet transvestite
From Transexual, Ustalav, ha ha
The other actors joined him in chorus as he strutted in front of the guards, making sure to be loud and attention grabbing, and as the song continued, they moved along the edge of the pool and towards the stretch of land that led to where the tengu was held.
I'm glad we caught you here
We're almost in tears
We're both in a bit of a hurry (right!)
We'll just say where we are, then go back to the wagon
We don't want to be any worry
Well, you got caught with a flat, well, how about that?
Well, babies, don't you worry
By the light of the night, it'll all seem alright
I'll get you a satanic woodworker!

No matter how this goes, this will go in history as one of Beorn's Crowning Moments of Awesome
Litsy watches Beorn from afar with a mixture of horror and fascination, suppressing a fit of irresistible giggles behind her face mask. You couldn't accuse the man of underperforming- even if the backup dancers were a bit too much, she thought. Even when giving it their all, they seemed to have some trouble keeping up.
She digs her nails into the palm of her hands, bites down on her lower lip, and forces herself to stop looking at Beorn's gesticulations and focus on the guards' reaction.

Some of the guards talk amongst each other and look up at the sky before they call out to one another across the pond.
Two of the guards back up onto the pathway while two more come round the pond to flank the performanc holding their halberds out threateningly.
"Disperse! Get out of here dogs! This place is occupied by the CCG for the dispersement of justice!"

Variel stopped paying attention to the guards as Beorn started his performance. Clearly the man was either a genius or more insane than Pollux. At the moment Variel wasn't sure which one. He then realized that he was the closest party member to Beorn and had the best view of the 'show'. Turning away quickly and averting his eyes he misses the guards approaching.
Needing to get closer for his color spray spell Variel walks closer to the performer. He has one hand raised blocking his eyes from the sight (and covering his face and features at the same time) the other is holding out a cloak towards Beorn. By the gods, man, cover yourself up. Is there no decency left in the world?

So, come up to the lab
And see what's on the slab
I see you shiver with antici-
He suddenly freezes and stops singing, his hand just about to grab the cloak. he hovers there, just long enough for the guard to get even more annoyed and attemtt to shout another order...

But maybe the rain
Is really to blame
So I'll remove the cause
But not the symptom
Beorn snatches the cloak away and twirls it about his shoulders and shoots Variel a 'get on with it' look.

Beornand Variel hear in their ear, the sound sliding under the music. "Bring them together and they may go astray.."

Just as Litsy expected, only two guards move to take care of Beorn's mess.
She glances at Merelda, who is hiding a little further away. Now would be a good time to make your move, Gran, she thinks to herself, keeping her handcrossbow at the ready in case things go awry.
And why was Pollux so far away when he was supposed to take care of the dogs? She was already beginning to suspect things might not go as planned.

Seeing that is was unlikely that the other guard would just come over on his own, Beorn decided to unleash the next scene of his improv session.
It's astounding
Time is fleeting
Madness takes its toll
But listen closely
Not for very much longer
I've got to keep control
I remember doing the Time Warp
Drinking those moments when
The blackness would hit me
And the void would be calling
He sweeps to the side of the guard and throws an arm around his shoulders as the other actors dance behind them.
Let's do the Time Warp again
Let's do the Time Warp again
It's just a jump to the left
And then a step to the right
Put your hands on your hips
You bring your knees in tight
Beorn leaps west with the other actors pushing behind, Beorn drawing the guard west to the other guard.
We're repositioning the guard west to the other guard. Hopefully we can get them closer
But it's the pelvic thrust
That really drives you insane
Let's do the Time Warp again
Let's do the Time Warp again
Beorn does a mighty thrust that no doubt drives Merelda mad with lust as the group thrusts and shimmies forwards.
It's so dreamy
Oh, fantasy free me
So you can't see me
No, not at all
In another dimension
With voyeuristic intention
Well-secluded
I see all

The guards rush up to Beorn addressing the crowd as the dozen or so with Beorn join in on the chorus notes.
Having had quite enough one of the guards prods Beorn hard in the gut with the blunt end of his polearm.
