That was my Initiative roll! Sorry, I didn't label it properly.

Bad guys win the 1st round
Surprise actions do go off. Sadly Merelda is just shy of knocking her target on his ass.
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19 HALBERD STRIKE!
1d10 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11 HALBERD STAB!
The guards move quickly calling out alarms. Merelda manages to land her whip but the mans sheer mass fouls her pull as she tries t o pull back for another attempt the man charges in and drives the point of his halberd into her side.
The other guard moves towards the group to the south blowing on a whistle as he moves in. The dogs pull on their chains and bark wanting to get involved in the excitement but limited in their movement.
Everyone else is up.

Looks like my bad rolling luck keeps following me onto other games here... Activating Judgement (Healing): gains fast healing 1, so that's 1hp back so far. Did he actually charge? Then he gets an AC penalty if he did.
Grimacing at the pain, Merelda curses at the man like a pirate, and drops the whip. She then silently calls on her goddess's blessing to heal her as she draws her rapier and steps inside the halberd's reach to strike back at her attacker...
Attack MW Rapier: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16
Damage Rapier: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
Tiny Litsy |
The guard has moved a lot closer than what Litsy is comfortable with. But on the other hand, it'd be a sorry thing to let a perfectly good crossbow bolt go to waste.
"F!@@ it," she mutters through gritted teeth -and pulls the trigger. She then draws her rapier. She hadn't got used to the sap, which still felt quite clumsy in her hands, and this guy obviously wasn't f%&+ing around with his halberd.
Point Blank Shot: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7 EDIT: HA!
Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Variel Nightstorm |
VAriel 5 ft backs away from the sleeping guards and starts to cast his own sleep spell. Hopefully he can finish it in time before the 4th guard gets to him. If so then he has a chance to sleep the guard on Litsy and Merelda and then focus his energies on the guard approaching him and Pollux.
Pollux |
The stranger moves to shadow Variel. {Variel remember you have Guidance for at least the next few rounds.}
A dark shadow darts from the shrubbery and vanishes into the pile of bodies. {Castor moves from the bushes south of Beorns body and taces cover under the body closest to Variel. Stealth,-5movement: 1d20 + 17 - 5 ⇒ (1) + 17 - 5 = 13 oh dear...}
Pollux calmly watches the guard approach from the east. Ready action to use Evil Eye on any foe who comes within 30 feet. -2 saves duration 7 rounds or one round on a DC 15 will save.
Merelda "The Widow" Widdomeria |
Healing +1hp more. Did I hit the guy before?
Using her Sudden Shift ability to teleport behind the idiot when he misses, Merelda hisses loudly as the pain increases from the movement.
She then rolls her eyes as the diva sleeps the fight away...
"Somebody wake that bearded bastard!"
Attack MW Rapier: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8
Damage Rapier: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Not this time!
Tiny Litsy |
Instinctively, Litsy turns around to check on Beorn. When she snaps back to Merelda, the elf woman has moved.
"BOYS! THAT'S ON YOU- Hey! How did you do that?!"
"You! Dodge!" At least, no one will be able to say she hasn't given her opponent a fair warning, she thinks right before stabbing. If he's not fast enough -that's on him. You could almost consider she'd struck a vital organ on accident, really.
5ft step to flank+ Sneak Attack
Sneak sneak: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 4 + 2 = 22
Damage: 1d6 - 1 ⇒ (4) - 1 = 3
Sneak damage: 1d6 ⇒ 1
Variel Nightstorm |
Variel finishes his spell as the guard nearest to him feels overcome with a drowsiness he can’t resist (hopefully).
Will save dc 14
Should the guard fall asleep Variel will move over and kick Beorn awake as he calls out to the sister to escape this way. If not then Variel will attack the guard with his sap while still calling out to sister to escape!
Pollux |
TarkOn their turn the last of the southern guards needs to make a Will 15 save as Pollux's held action triggers. In any case they are -2 on saves for one round or seven depending. Action is dependent on the activity level of the last southern guard.

Oops
The stranger removes a strangely stained cloth from the depths of their coat and grips it in their hand as they stare at the last of the southern guards. Casting Daze DC14 or skip their next turn.] The world seems to jump and stutter as the poor man skips a groove on their Akashic record.
If Mr. Smiley does not startle Opera awake then Castor will begin enthusiastically and deeply licking his ear.
The Abyss Staring Back |
Though her wound is comparatively tiny compared to the elf's riposte it is no less lethal the man simply slumps over his halberd clattering to the ground as he slides off the rapier into the water. The last one joins the Beorn cuddle pile as the bard awakens with a rat doing questionable things to his head from underneath a pile of sweaty men.
The dogs continue. The turn is yours.
Pollux |
Now that his target is awake and much less interesting/edible Castor Scurries back to the warm safety of their pocket in the yellow coat. {Double move back to Pollux}
Pollux draws a thin long bladed dagger and looks (longly?) between it and the pile of bodies.
Smiling they change their mind and, humming softly, they skip rapidly to the west. {Double move to near the SW corner of the pool}
Merelda "The Widow" Widdomeria |
Are we still in combat? If we are, then I am still healing, otherwise it stops.
Merelda swiftly kicks the halberd into the water and grabs her whip. She then turns and pulls out some of the food they brought to distract the dogs...
She hisses at the bard.
"You could have had fun with a REAL woman, but NO...you had to find a furry little friend to kiss!"
Edit: +1hp
Tiny Litsy |
Variel will be pissed, Litsy thinks to herself as the guard collapses on the floor, bleeding from a wound she's pretty sure must have hit an internal organ. But try as she might, it's hard to feel guilty for ridding the world of one so liberal with the halberd and f~*+ed-up torture scenarios involving getting eaten by dogs.
Besides, she gave him a fair chance.
Sort of.
If only he had had better reflexes.
The tiny rogue stands behind Merelda as the elven woman attempts to placate the dog.
"Real woman?", she scoffs, tossing the hound some dried meat from her rations. "With those boobs? Ha!"
Move action
Variel Nightstorm |
Oblivious to what is going on north of him Variel hopes that Litsy is holding her own and doesn't kill anyone she shouldn't...Merelda being at the top of the list. He then hurries his way along the east side of the pool moving as fast as he can to free the Sister.
Merelda "The Widow" Widdomeria |
Merelda smiles back to Litsy, her eyes flashing with mirth as she hisses.
”Yes, REAL women have those! Unlike some little girls…”
Merelda "The Widow" Widdomeria |
I have a bunch of skills, but not that one. And its Trained only. Can I use Know(Nature) and/or Intimidation and see if that helps tell me what to do here?
Variel Nightstorm |
Hating to take the action that is needed but not knowing any other way Variel moves up with his sap and smacks the nearest dog to create a path for the Sister to escape.

I believe that handle animal is trained only if you are training an animal. You can use handle animal or push untrained.
Pollux |
Pollux moves around the west side of the pool and smiles as their gaze falls on the westernmost hound.
{Ready action for when/if dog gets within 30'. Evil eye -2 to attack rolls dc15 Will duration 1 or 7 rounds depending on save.}
Tiny Litsy |
Intimidate: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12
Turns out that shouting "BACK OFF, YOU F#@+ERS!" at some angry dogs isn't really doing the trick.
Merelda "The Widow" Widdomeria |
Pulling her whip again, Merelda smiles as she cracks it a couple of times in quick succession near the dog's head.
"DOWN! Back off b#++%!"
Intimidate w/Stern Gaze: 1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 5 + 1 = 23
She looks over at Litsy and smirks with her eyes wide.
"Its all in the wrist. I could show you a thing or two..."
She then wiggles her well-shaped eyebrows at her.
The Abyss Staring Back |
Merelda spooks the dog who lets out a low threatening growl before it slowly backs away. Backing off to what can be presumed to be it's resting area it seems intent at staying away but most definitely ready to attack.
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11
On the other side the dog gets a clear smack to the face and responds in kind with a less than accurate bite to Variels throat.
The tengu recognizes you but in her exhaustion and terror doesn't yet move.
Merelda "The Widow" Widdomeria |
Merelda tosses the food scraps in the general direction of the animal. She also keeps the whip up and crab-walks over to the woman while dropping her disguise spell and putting herself between their ally and the dog.
“Time to go M’Lady Feathers! Your carriage awaits!”
Tiny Litsy |
Emboldened by the dog's fear, Litsy moves closer to the petrified tengu. Double move
"Come on!" she hisses. "I'll cover you!"
