I'm +13 perception and +2 more since we're in Kintargo.

Male Chelaxian Freedom Fighter / 9

With Eirik pointing out where the enemy was, Vandomir continued firing...

+1 Adaptive Composite Longbow Hit: 1d20 + 16 - 2 + 1 - 3 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 16 - 2 + 1 - 3 + 1 = 26
Damage: 1d8 + 4 + 1 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 4 + 1 + 6 = 19

Miss Chance: 1d100 ⇒ 34 Miss

+1 Adaptive Composite Longbow Hit: 1d20 + 16 - 2 + 1 - 3 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 16 - 2 + 1 - 3 + 1 = 22
Damage: 1d8 + 4 + 1 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 4 + 1 + 6 = 14

Miss Chance: 1d100 ⇒ 24 Miss

+1 Adaptive Composite Longbow Hit: 1d20 + 16 - 2 + 1 - 3 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 16 - 2 + 1 - 3 + 1 = 16

Miss Chance: 1d100 ⇒ 54 Possible

+1 Adaptive Composite Longbow Hit: 1d20 + 11 - 2 + 1 - 3 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 11 - 2 + 1 - 3 + 1 = 12
Damage: 1d8 + 4 + 1 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 4 + 1 + 6 = 12

Miss Chance: 1d100 ⇒ 23 Miss

[ooc]So, the only one that succeeded the 50% miss chance was a 16, so I didn't do anything this round.

... but he simply couldn't hit the invisible creature.

Male Chelaxian Freedom Fighter / 9

Vandomir waited patiently for the creature to pinpoint the enemy, and once that was done, he unleashed a hail of arrows...

+1 Adaptive Composite Longbow Hit: 1d20 + 16 - 2 + 1 - 3 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 16 - 2 + 1 - 3 + 1 = 27
Damage: 1d8 + 4 + 1 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 4 + 1 + 6 = 15

Miss Chance: 1d100 ⇒ 45 Miss

+1 Adaptive Composite Longbow Hit: 1d20 + 16 - 2 + 1 - 3 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 16 - 2 + 1 - 3 + 1 = 23

Damage: 1d8 + 4 + 1 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 4 + 1 + 6 = 12

Miss Chance: 1d100 ⇒ 97 Possible

...with mixed results, he again thought he was hitting his target, but not consistently.

Male Chelaxian Freedom Fighter / 9

Ahhh, I get why you asked for 2 rolls. In that case, I can only fire one arrow, and it will likely miss.

Round 6

To pinpoint the invisible caster:

Perception: 1d20 + 13 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 13 + 4 = 37 +4 vs humans, +2 vs Evil outsiders, +3 to locate traps, +2 in Kintargo

Perception: 1d20 + 13 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 13 + 4 = 36 +4 vs humans, +2 vs Evil outsiders, +3 to locate traps, +2 in Kintargo

Vandomir continued to be certain that he knew where she was, "I tell you I am on her," he insisted as he kept up his rate of fire...

+1 Adaptive Composite Longbow Hit: 1d20 + 16 - 2 + 1 - 3 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 16 - 2 + 1 - 3 + 1 = 17

Miss Chance: 1d100 ⇒ 100 Possible

"Some of those had to hit her, I am certain of it," he yelled.

Round 5

Perception: 1d20 + 13 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 13 + 4 = 30 +4 vs humans, +2 vs Evil outsiders, +3 to locate traps, +2 in Kintargo

Vandomir was certain he knew where the invisible enemy was, "Follow my arrows," he instructed his allies as he let loose another volley...

+1 Adaptive Composite Longbow Hit: 1d20 + 16 - 2 + 1 - 3 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 16 - 2 + 1 - 3 + 1 = 21
Damage: 1d8 + 4 + 1 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 4 + 1 + 6 = 18

Damage: 1d8 + 4 + 1 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 4 + 1 + 6 = 15

Miss Chance: 1d100 ⇒ 85 Possible

He wasn't sure if his arrows were hitting or not, but he knew he had the right place in his sights!

Stand by for Round 6

Male Chelaxian Freedom Fighter / 9

Round 5

Hearing Noravia's recommendation, Vandomir decides that the bow is not the right weapon for the task at hand. He puts away his bow, draw his sword, and listen intently for someone moving near him...

Perception: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (15) + 13 = 28 +4 vs humans, +2 vs Evil outsiders, +3 to locate traps, +2 in Kintargo

Vandomir listened carefully and thought he could tell from the echoes just where the spellcasting was coming from. He laid down a volley of arrows into that corner of the room...

Male Chelaxian Freedom Fighter / 9

Fabian, in turn 425, if I had to move in to shoot, then only 1 arrow should have gone off, not even 2, so probably no hits from me then.

Male Chelaxian Freedom Fighter / 9

When the door flew open and Vandomir saw what they were facing, his eyes shone. "Now THAT problem looks like a nail to me," he exclaimed, and he commenced playing his bow like a cheap guitar...

+1 Adaptive Composite Longbow Hit: 1d20 + 16 - 2 + 1 - 3 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 16 - 2 + 1 - 3 + 1 = 18

... and causing several of his arrows to strike true into the closest hag.

Work on gunning down the one on Caleb.

Male Chelaxian Freedom Fighter / 9

I recognize Eirik is out to beat the door down. If it makes sense then...

With the door locked, there as concern as to Caleb being stuck alone with the enemy. Vandomir went to try and unlock the door from his side...

Disable Device: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (12) + 19 = 31 +1 to disable traps

... and met with success, as he rammed a shim through the crevice and caused the bar to drop on the other side.

If it doesn't, please ignore. Eirik is welcome to open the door with brutality.

Male Chelaxian Freedom Fighter / 9

"Make sure these two are healed a little, and let us move says I. Someone may need to point me at the ring leader, but once I am on them, I will see about stopping this ritual with arrows," Vandomir abruptly added, "hopefully before it summons something from the depths of hell!"

Male Chelaxian Freedom Fighter / 9

"I need to get some different hammers," Vandomir observed as he hoped he could help bring the woman down without killing her. He fired deliberately, intending to stop when she dropped, hoping the damage Eirik had caused was enough of a buffer to keep her alive.

+1 Adaptive Composite Longbow Hit: 1d20 + 16 - 2 + 1 - 3 ⇒ (5) + 16 - 2 + 1 - 3 = 17

Damage: 1d8 + 4 + 1 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 4 + 1 + 6 = 14

I can't do subdual damage without the right arrows, sorry.

Male Chelaxian Freedom Fighter / 9

Vandomir stood silently, listening to the talkers in the group trying to diffuse the situation with their words, comfortable in the knowledge that if they needed him to break out his hammers again, that he was ready to do so.

Male Chelaxian Freedom Fighter / 9

Still traveling, but here:

Vandomir felt like the proverbial carpenter without most of his tools. Because he was only left with several hammers, all problems looked like nails to him. "I guess, I should just use as much hammer as possible," he said as he laid into the creatures with his arrows.

+1 Adaptive Composite Longbow Hit: 1d20 + 16 - 2 + 1 - 3 ⇒ (20) + 16 - 2 + 1 - 3 = 32

+1 Adaptive Composite Longbow Hit: 1d20 + 11 - 2 + 1 - 3 ⇒ (11) + 11 - 2 + 1 - 3 = 18
Damage: 1d8 + 4 + 1 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 4 + 1 + 6 = 19

No bludgeoning weapon here, so I'll keep pumping damage into them this way, continually hitting the smaller pieces until they are done.

Male Chelaxian Freedom Fighter / 9

Vandomir's chest hurt. He wasn't sure if the bolt had come from the creature, or somewhere else. He was sure they could figure that detail out later. The creature was going down. Vandomir launched a volley of arrows at the Naga...

With Noravia's buff, rapid shot, Point Blank shot, and Deadly Aim...

+1 Adaptive Composite Longbow Hit: 1d20 + 16 + 4 - 2 + 1 - 3 ⇒ (4) + 16 + 4 - 2 + 1 - 3 = 20
Damage: 1d8 + 4 + 1 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 4 + 1 + 6 = 15

+1 Adaptive Composite Longbow Hit: 1d20 + 16 + 4 - 2 + 1 - 3 ⇒ (16) + 16 + 4 - 2 + 1 - 3 = 32

+1 Adaptive Composite Longbow Hit: 1d20 + 11 + 4 - 2 + 1 - 3 ⇒ (12) + 11 + 4 - 2 + 1 - 3 = 23
Damage: 1d8 + 4 + 1 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 4 + 1 + 6 = 14

...and when he was finished, one of his arrows had struck the creature true.

Male Chelaxian Freedom Fighter / 9

Give me a few! Was traveling to GenCon today! I'll get a post up tonight.

Special defenses?
Special attacks?

Vandomir will learn what he can and relay it to the group. He gets yelled at a lot for shooting first, so he'll await instructions...

Action 4

Vandomir had never seen such a creature before, but quite a few masonry and building texts contained warnings and information regarding the types of underground creatures one might encounter when building. He was fairly certain he recognized this creature from Azoun's Guide to the Hazards of Dungeonmaking. In the blink of an eye, he knew what it was, "It is a slime naga, be careful of its YYY, and attack it with ZZZ." He raised his bow and prepared to release a volley of arrows if given the word.

If told to shoot...

With rapid shot, Point Blank shot, and Deadly Aim...

+2/+2 if an evil outsider...

Male Chelaxian Freedom Fighter / 9

My level up stuff is done, including I fixed my macros for attacks and such.

Action 1

"Very well," grinned Vandomir, "I am certainly up for a mission to save Hetamon, he has been there enough for us, that much is sure."

Action 2

Vandomir heard Tillia's suggestion, "Shensen's life is certainly in good hands with Tillia, no complaints there. As for Rizolla, I am not as familiar with her, but if Tillia says she should go, then obviously I agree."

Male Chelaxian Freedom Fighter / 9

Action 1

"Well, my voice is perfectly useless in the singing department," Vandomir states. "Is it the words of the song that are important, or just the music? If we can get new words written to the old music, then why not do that? New words for a new day in Kintargo."

Action 2

Vandomir laughed as the reality of the head was revealed. He laughed a deep throaty laugh, for a long time. Finally, as he slowed down to a chuckle. "Well, I can not tell you just how relieved I am! I was not looking forward to being the Mayor! We still have time to find a sucker, errr, I mean candidate."

Action 3

Vandomir asked, "Do we send a team for Hetamon, or do we go ourselves?"

Male Chelaxian Freedom Fighter / 9

Action 2

"A night of rest will do us all well," Vandomir suggested. "Tomorrow we will have to deal with the ramifications of today. Tomorrow will come soon enough."

Action 3

In between his reading of the various rites and rituals of the faith of Milani, the histories of Kintargo and the Silver Ravens, and keeping the family business up, Vandomir had also been trying to master more difficult magic to aid the cause. He had been close so many times, but this morning he felt was the day. He thought he would try a spell to protect his friends from elemental energies. Devils often wielded such power.

Male Chelaxian Freedom Fighter / 9

Spells: I will routinely memorize liberating command, residual tracking and now that I have 2nd level spells, let's add protection from energy to the list.

Male Chelaxian Freedom Fighter / 9

I'd like to add shadow to my armor - 3750 gp

or a cloak of elvenkind - 2,500 gp (preferably the cloak)

I'd like an immovable rod - 5,000 gp

I'd like two immovable rods actually, although with the shadow on my armor that would out me 750 over my limit.

With the cloak of elvenkind and two of the rods, I'd be golden.

FYI, my intent is to be able to use the two immovable rods along with my climber's kit to be able to scale anything, or nothing, since I could alternate locking them each in place and just climb as high as I'd like.

I took another level of Ranger

Took Improved Critical (Greatsword)

Gained an ability called "Push Through" - crowds and such of local Kintargoans don't slow me down, and I'm not affected by difficult terrain in Kintargo.

And I'd toss the temp loaned +1 glaive and +1 flaming longbow back into the party bin for sale probably.

Action 1

"Noravia, what is wrong? Are you ill?". Vandomir was very concerned for his friend.

Action 2

Vandomir looked at the various depictions of the Silver Ravens, "betrayal was it? What sort of vile creature would betray his compatriots?"

Action 3

Looking at the many documents, Vandomir observed, "I believe we can be assured that there is much valuable history in these documents. It cannot just be full of junk and a song."

As an aside, the turn number through me. When I went to bring it up, it being 404, I thought the file wasn't found.

Hefting the borrowed glaive, he rushed back towards the coffin. Noravia looked terrible. What had he missed? He saw the others starting to beat on the creature, so he brought down the weapon to hit the former mayor...

+1 Glaive: 1d20 + 11 - 3 ⇒ (1) + 11 - 3 = 9
Damage: 1d10 + 4 + 9 ⇒ (1) + 4 + 9 = 14

...but he missed completely. "It must have some sort of magical defense up, keep hitting it," Vandomir yelled.

Even had I hit, that damage would have sucked. That DR is going to be a major problem!

Action 2

Vandomir continued walking away from the coversation with the vampire-mayor. "What could their plan be? To make the thing go against its nature? Repent and become a useful member of society? Just release it to prey on the commoners? Better to destroy it," brooded the man.

Action 1

Vandomir watched Tillia retreat. "How strange," he thought, "she has acted very strangely ever since her extended stay in Vyre. Something seems to have changed in her, and between us."

Action 2

Vandomir couldn't believe that people wanted to chat with the vampire. He could, but he couldn't. The Silver Ravens were good people, with kind hearts, but few of them seemed as resigned to making the hard choices and handling the consequences afterwards as he was. He lowered his weapon and stepped away from the tableau that was unfolding before him. Shaking his head, Vandomir silently wished the more talkative members of the group the best as they tried dealing with the vampire.

Could well be we end up bashin' at each other, but unless the major can manage a TPK right now, we can start that next turn ;^)

As a meta again, I hate giving up a full round of actions from us, while the thing is flatfooted. If that thing is a full on, honest to Milani, Vampire, then we should expect several of us to end up thumped with multiple negative levels out of this encounter.

Male Chelaxian Freedom Fighter / 9

So, the GM used the words "Surprise Round." Those words tell me we're already in combat. If Eirik calls for peace, then Vandomir will stay his hand. I did open my turn with a willingness to be stopped. I'm happy to be stopped. I'm a fan of reasoning with monsters when possible. Vandomir is more a man of action. Shall we then consider that V was starting a swing and Eirik held out a hand to stop me? I'm not a frothing Barbarian after all.

How many were aware that many Vampire legends give them the weakness of having a compulsion to count things? So, the Sesame Street Count fits right in!

Perception: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (8) + 12 = 20 +4 vs humans, +2 vs Evil outsiders, +3 to locate traps, +2 in Kintargo

Probably a 22 then!

Action 2

Unless stopped, Vandomir is taking a swing! He expected a Vampire, and he was cocked and ready!?

As the coffin lid opened, and the creature sat up, Vandomir recognized that he had been right. A Vampire! He'd heard all of the stories as a child, their aversion to running water, their obsessions with counting things, and, of course, their bloodlust. The Noble was taking no chances. He brought his glaive down and...

+1 Glaive: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (12) + 11 = 23
Damage: 1d10 + 4 + 9 ⇒ (10) + 4 + 9 = 23

... struck the vile creature a mighty blow.

I figure while PLAYERS go coffin=vampire, for low level characters it is more likely they've never met - or given Caleb's lore, heard of - vampires.

He figures this is they Mayor. How long ago did the mayor disappear? I note we have a scroll of raise dead.

Well, Vandomir has a +6 on K(religion) and +4 more if human related.

Action 1

"But, but...," Vandomir stammered, "I quite clearly said 'not it?' Look being a good craftsman hardly seems a reasonable qualification to be mayor. If it is good enough, than how about any of the Craftmasters down town? Seriously, I appreciate the nomination, especially as it might be a death sentence should Abrogail send her armies here to teach us a lesson, but surely there are better candidates?" He shuffles his feet a little, but finally faces his companions, "I will stand as Mayor, if it is truly what the city needs, but I am hard pressed to believe that the city is in such dire straits that I am truly the best candidate for the task."

Action 2

Give me one of the +1 glaves. It's better than my dagger right now.

Action 3

"A coffin? Are you kidding? Is it maybe just stage dressing?" Vandomir fired off his questions in rapid succession. "It doesn't take a genius to realize that coffins mean vampires in situations like this! Did anyone bring a stake for its heart? Is Thrune's body still upstairs? Has he reformed here?" Vandomir hefted his glaive, and prepared to swing should a creature jump from the coffin.

Vandomir suggested, "perhaps they are blessed of Milani, or freedom lovers in general?"

"Anyone want to sit in the big seat?"

Vandomir smiled, "In my youth we played a game for conditions of this sort. It consisted mostly of declaring yourself to not be 'it.' Accordingly, I so declare that I am 'not it.'"

Action 2

Vandomir offers, "one man's bane, is another man's boon. Just because an adherent to Abadar, the bloodly follower of all laws foul and benign, finds something objectionable, those of us trying to overthrow the so called 'lawful' government of Kintargo might reasonably view the things completely differently."

Action 1

Hearing the summons to consider the Shensen problem, Vandomir gave up helping the others gather loot and heal the injured. He had tried finding arrows to replace the ones he had fired, and he had met with some success. He slung the bow over his shoulder, grabbed one of the magic glaves.

"Well, she likely weighs nearly four hundred pounds in this state," Vandomir opined rubbing his chin while he pondered how to move Shensen. "It is not the weight so much, any one or two of us could likely move her, particularly wearing that new belt we found. The problem comes with keeping her intact I expect." Vandomir begins gathering bits and pieces of the surroundings, curtains, ropes, broken banisters, and commences to try and create a sled for hauling Shensen that is quite well padded. "Well, now, if four of us, or maybe some of Octavio's men, feel up to hauling her, I think we can do so safely. Time enough to reverse the magic later, she is not growing any older."

Craft(stonemasonry): 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (15) + 15 = 30

Action 4

Knowledge(local): 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (13) + 10 = 23 +4 vs humans, +2 vs Evil outsiders, +2 in Kintargo

"Those last items belonged to the old mayor," Vandomir observed. I have seen him wearing them before.

We head out tomorrow morning to a state park for a family reunion for a week. I expect it to be virtually impossible to find the internet while I am gone.

No arrows left? Bahhh! There are other ways to skin a cat! Let's see, I have a short spear with me! Perfect!

Vandomir's hand went for more arrows, but he was out. He was out of targets too, really, although he knew the bone devil was right below him.

He turned to leap the bannister and drop to the lower level, drawing his short spear and dropping the borrowed bow as he went. He charged directly down at the creature...

Acrobatics: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11 -4 to jump over the bannister
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11 To land

Shortspear: 1d20 + 10 + 2 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 10 + 2 + 2 + 1 = 25
Damage: 1d6 + 4 + 2 + 9 ⇒ (5) + 4 + 2 + 9 = 20

...His attack caught the creature off guard, and he struck it, but the creature's unnatural defenses ensured the damage was not as bad as he had hoped.

Ok, so Vandomir places a hand on the bannister and leaps over (I figure a 7 is ok for that? He then plummets (charges?) at the bone devil, drawing the spear as he goes, thus getting +2 for his favored enemy, +2 for charge, and +1 for attacking from above. No penalties for Power Attack on his first attack. If the GM is ok with those numbers, I believe that might hit. Although it doesn't stand up against the DR particularly well, being a mundane weapon. That 11 though is not high enough to help me not take damage or land prone from the fall, so while the fall and the attack might look heroic, the landing does not.

Thrune is the only one I can see down below, so my plan is to keep on him, until he drops. If I drop him, or if someone drops him before me then I'll turn my wrath on the dottari up on this level.

Noravia was in trouble, Thrune kept hammering her, and she was hurt. Best to take the bastard out, once and for all. Vandomir's arrows flew from the bow directed by instinct and will...

+1 Flaming Composite Longbow Hit: 1d20 + 14 - 2 + 4 + 1 - 3 ⇒ (11) + 14 - 2 + 4 + 1 - 3 = 25
Damage: 1d8 + 3 + 1d6 + 4 + 1 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 3 + (5) + 4 + 1 + 6 = 26

+1 Flaming Composite Longbow Hit: 1d20 + 14 - 2 + 4 + 1 - 3 ⇒ (10) + 14 - 2 + 4 + 1 - 3 = 24
Damage: 1d8 + 3 + 1d6 + 4 + 1 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 3 + (4) + 4 + 1 + 6 = 25

+1 Flaming Composite Longbow Hit: 1d20 + 14 - 2 + 4 + 1 - 3 - 5 ⇒ (4) + 14 - 2 + 4 + 1 - 3 - 5 = 13
Damage: 1d8 + 3 + 1d6 + 4 + 1 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 3 + (2) + 4 + 1 + 6 = 21

...two of them struck deep into Thrune, the second piercing his throat, and the man fell to the ground, his life's blood spraying around him.

Male Chelaxian Freedom Fighter / 9

Having delivered death to one of the devils, Vandomir was about to finish the other one when the Paracount blinked back into view. He wondered to himself, "What exactly is a Paracount, really?"

Having heard Thrune's claims of destroying the Silver Raven's and Eirik's disclaimer, Vandomir was emboldened to add his voice to the matter, "The Silver Ravens are not only surviving, we thrive, you servant of evil and oppression." With that, he turned back to firing at the human...

+1 Flaming Composite Longbow Hit: 1d20 + 14 - 2 + 4 + 1 - 3 ⇒ (1) + 14 - 2 + 4 + 1 - 3 = 15
Damage: 1d8 + 3 + 1d6 + 4 + 1 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 3 + (3) + 4 + 1 + 6 = 21

+1 Flaming Composite Longbow Hit: 1d20 + 14 - 2 + 4 + 1 - 3 ⇒ (14) + 14 - 2 + 4 + 1 - 3 = 28
Damage: 1d8 + 3 + 1d6 + 4 + 1 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 3 + (4) + 4 + 1 + 6 = 26

+1 Flaming Composite Longbow Hit: 1d20 + 14 - 2 + 4 + 1 - 3 - 5 ⇒ (10) + 14 - 2 + 4 + 1 - 3 - 5 = 19
Damage: 1d8 + 3 + 1d6 + 4 + 1 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 3 + (3) + 4 + 1 + 6 = 24

...but the change in target sent his first arrow in an errant direction. He rapidly adjusted fire and poured the arrows into his foe.

I'm a fan of using my biggest favored enemy bonuses, and killing Thrune seems the best course of action, so I'll go back to hitting him, at least while he is visible!

Ohhh! Do we need to unmask and own it as the Silver Ravens?
