In the name of Cayden Cailean, drink your fill this holiday season! But of course do it responsibly.

Grand Lodge ***** Venture-Lieutenant, Wisconsin—Madison aka Totenpfuhl

Two weeks to go! It's actually the 6th though the 8th.

Grand Lodge ***** Venture-Lieutenant, Wisconsin—Madison aka Totenpfuhl

Bumping for one month to go.

Still need a few GMs if anybody is interested.

Grand Lodge ***** Venture-Lieutenant, Wisconsin—Madison aka Totenpfuhl

There is also the fact that to play a summoner you have to use the Unchained Summoner and you can also now use the Unchained Rogue, Barbarian, and Monk. Also, the occult classes are available.

One skill point would give you an effective bonus of +5, but you only have one rank. This is important because sometimes you need a certain number of ranks for something to happen. (For example, the Skill Focus feat improves when you have ten ranks.)

With respect to Linguistics specifically, you only have one rank so you only learn one additional language.

Also, there are skill checks that use linguistics whether you know a language or not.

Putting ranks in the skill is what give you other languages, not the total skill value.

There are a whole bunch of games being run at the con this November, many of which are CORE tables. We are still looking for GMs and you can get a refund on your badge if you run at least three tables. If you are interested, need more information, or just want to come play you can message me or post in this thread. I'll respond as quickly as I can.

Here is the con website:

https://www.gameholecon.com/

I have a list of tables still needing GMs which I can message you in you need.

I ran two tables of it at Gen Con and neither took the deal. The way the aeon interacts and how the players could possibly understand is all up to the GM running it.

Personally, I don't know how the aeon would ever convey in picture form that he was hesitant about killing the PCs. That was just a weird instruction and I did not think it was truly thought out, it seemed more pawned off.

I had an elf in the party that was totally cool with giving up 20 years of his life. Oops! :)

Just use the custom cost, and pay the amount for one, and sell all but one, for %0.

You can't be that lazy.

Or just buy the lot of 50 with the custom cost and then split the stack and get rid of the stack you don't want. That way it doesn't say you had 50 arrows, just whatever you bought.

I'm going to be carrying any relevant material on my phone. Otherwise I'll be hauling around too much stuff and I'm not as close to the convention center as I have been the last few years.

So Tanis, as a volunteer will I be helping with the OP or the tourney on Thursday?

Hmmm...I've been going to Gen Con since 2010, and every year so far they've had previous season scenarios. Besides, the new season always has only the first 3 at scenarios.

I believe nogoodscallywag is talking about previous seasons to the current and last season. As Thea pointed out, that first year in the Sagamore Ballroom we had scenarios from every season represented.

Grand Lodge ***** Venture-Lieutenant, Wisconsin—Madison aka Totenpfuhl

Actually, it is because they are trying to promote the new season as Gen Con is it's "coming out party".

Grand Lodge ***** Venture-Lieutenant, Wisconsin—Madison aka Totenpfuhl

I have a question:

In part 2 each area has 4 times the number of tables worth of hit points and yet there are only two different options for each area, only one for the NE Campus, plus only two flexible options.

With this in mind, how is there supposed to be many areas that are green?

Grand Lodge ***** Venture-Lieutenant, Wisconsin—Madison aka Totenpfuhl

Are there any vanities that I can get? Will there be in the future?

Grand Lodge ***** Venture-Lieutenant, Wisconsin—Madison aka Totenpfuhl

Since the Day Job roll occurs after the scenario is over, I'd allow it right away.

Grand Lodge ***** Venture-Lieutenant, Wisconsin—Madison aka Totenpfuhl

Just select 'sessions' and click on that person's table.

Thanks Swiftbrook. I figured it was something like that.

Wait, there is something other than Pathfinder going on at Gen Con this year?

I'm guessing those will sell out on people's second run-through.

Use the NPC Codex to boost the threat of Season Zero scenarios. You can turn a cakewalk into an actual threat to the PCs.

Grand Lodge ***** Venture-Lieutenant, Wisconsin—Madison aka Totenpfuhl

I ran this a week or two after it came out. None of the players wanted to pose as slaves and so bought some in Absalom. I couldn't argue with this course of action as it made perfect sense.

The problem came in with the amount of gnolls that were there at the time they enter just like Blackbot did. It was annoyingly lacking in detail as it says there is a lot when you get in and then only gives you a few for the fight.

Grand Lodge ***** Venture-Lieutenant, Wisconsin—Madison aka Totenpfuhl

If you play part 2 the main mission will get that reward.

Two things I can think of off the top of my head are:

1.) Know your character and what they can do.

2.) Offer to help with the initiative or organizing things. Don't expect the GM to ask, take the initiative, no pun intended.

The biggest confusion I encounter is with Tier 1-2 scenarios, since they're newer but still don't have an out-of-tier box for gold.

Explaining that you still need to calculate out-of-tier gold often rewards me with at least one blank stare.

New GMs have to learn sometime.

Basically, I'm hoping that there still might be something down the line to help the old class deck characters get the proper support they need and they don't just get left behind.

That is what I'm hoping for as well. I'm glad we hashed out that there should only be three characters per class deck, but is there going to be a deck that helps out those original 7?

Grand Lodge ***** Venture-Lieutenant, Wisconsin—Madison aka Totenpfuhl

elcoderdude, in my opinion you are correct. The instructions say to banish both location decks when you close the location. You get to close the location when you either empty a location of all of its cards, where either deck counts as a separate location attached to the location card, or find and defeat the henchman.

I understand the confusion as they should define main vs. side locations.

I think last year Mike Brock suggested prepping only those scenarios that are actually being offered.

He did just that last year. Sadly, the one time I was asked to run an alternate scenario it was Scars of the Third Crusade which I had to decline. If you've played it or run it you know that it is very involved and open, not one to run off the cuff.

But the most likely scenarios are the low tier ones and maybe the 3-7 later in the con.

Grand Lodge ***** Venture-Lieutenant, Wisconsin—Madison aka Totenpfuhl

Thanks everyone.

I'll still be doing the ACG as well as the RPG. I have been running games of both every week, sometimes more than that. It's just that now I'm getting acknowledged for both which is great.

Grand Lodge ***** Venture-Lieutenant, Wisconsin—Madison aka Totenpfuhl

Congrats Royce!

Grand Lodge ***** Venture-Lieutenant, Wisconsin—Madison aka Totenpfuhl

It is up to however you want to build your deck. There are many reasons that can change by deck and play style.

I don't really see any questions that you aren't already answering yourself.

Ekkie makes that scenario and I love running her through it. Ekkie and Plarg are great. Please let me play her in organized play.

Question: Will there be any expansion of languages on the core chronicle sheets? Just curious.

This is great news! My players are already happy about it, especially the guy who plays Tarlin. Thank you Tanis!

Grand Lodge ***** Venture-Lieutenant, Wisconsin—Madison aka Totenpfuhl

We had trouble through this one. It was a two player group: I was playing Merisiel and my friend was playing Tarlin. This is not easy for some characters, but thankfully I had the tricorne and the Emerald of Dexterity.

We got through it, but it was by the skin of our teeth.

Grand Lodge ***** Venture-Lieutenant, Wisconsin—Madison aka Totenpfuhl

Question about this scenario:

If Jemma isn't defeated right away, everyone has to fight her on their turn until she is? If that is the case then fine, but I just wanted to be sure.

Grand Lodge ***** Venture-Lieutenant, Wisconsin—Madison aka Totenpfuhl

I'm sure there is a thread already for this, but I couldn't find it.

My reports seem to be going through, but when I look at my characters it shows no scenarios found. Am I doing something wrong?

Grand Lodge ***** Venture-Lieutenant, Wisconsin—Madison aka Totenpfuhl

I just looked at it out of focus and the NDA appeared to me.

Grand Lodge ***** Venture-Lieutenant, Wisconsin—Madison aka Totenpfuhl

Congratulations!

Grand Lodge ***** Venture-Lieutenant, Wisconsin—Madison aka Totenpfuhl

Just got an email from customer service, but the NDA link brings me to a blank page.

I asked Mike Brock; he says that there's a technical issue holding stuff up that is actively being worked on. Once that's fixed, emails will go out.

Anyone in the know have any more recent information on this? I asked a local VL if he could get the scenarios for me while I wait for my NDA e-mail...he said he couldn't find them in his downloads...is it not available to him since he is a PFS VL and not a PFACG VL?! Is there a distinction?

Worse case scenario, I can purchase them tomorrow when they are released for sale....

Thanks,
Tim

I was under the impression that all current VOs have access to all scenarios (PFS and PFACG).

See, I don't think you're supposed to have Lonely Island if you have more than 1 player. If you look at the scenario sheet, it shows the locations as:

1 Lonely Island
1-6 Shark Island

I'm pretty sure that means that with more than 1 character, you're supposed to JUST have the Shark Island locations. Perhaps this could use some clarification, though.

I would actually read this more as:

If you are by yourself you play with a Lonely Island AND a Shark Island, as both locations are included for the 1 player situation... then you would add Shark Islands to fill in for additional players.

Correct.

Also, it is still one location short of the regular scenario even with Lonely Island.

Grand Lodge ***** Venture-Lieutenant, Wisconsin—Madison aka Totenpfuhl

So, has anybody gotten their notification yet? It has been two and a half weeks since the last email and I'm just checking in.

Grand Lodge ***** Venture-Lieutenant, Wisconsin—Madison aka Totenpfuhl

We won by the skin of our teeth, but we had a wizard, a cleric, and my Merisiel. To avoid fighting sharks right away, we started on Lonely Island and then moved over to the same Shark Island. That way only one person had to fight a shark at the beginning of their turn.

We had to split up later on so that we could close locations when the enemy came out.

Grand Lodge ***** Venture-Lieutenant, Wisconsin—Madison aka Totenpfuhl

Another thing, I reported two tables that didn't succeed and they don't seem to be showing up even though it says my character has sessions. Am I doing something wrong or does it only show up when you complete the scenario?

Brought up this issue in another thread, awaiting a response on what is actually to be reported. We have been doing ours exactly as you ran yours if it helps.

On two sessions of 0-1A I had to check "took reward" and only checked one box (spell) as both players took a double spell.

I have suggested that if they want both rewards and upgrades reported they need to add a second line of boon check boxes specifically to address what happened in GotD and could happen again in later scenarios.

Similar deal here, FWIW. I've checked off both where I could (e.g.: if they picked up a spell for the reward and a blessing for the upgrade), but only one if they picked up two weapons. It seems as though your second boon checkbox line idea would work, if they want all the details.
I've been doing it this way as well. =)

I was just recording the reward myself as there doesn't really seem to be a spot for the upgrade unless you think of the 'boon' as the reward adn then it makes sense. Has anybody clarified this yet?
