According to my GM when you levitate you become weightless and can be blown away (or need fly checks) when a gust of wind comes along. In my opinion you just move yourself ... let's say ... telekinetically using magic ... not becoming weightless and floating ... I've searched the forums and books ... but cannot find anything about this subject. Levitate allows you to move yourself, another creature, or an object up and down as you wish. A creature must be willing to be levitated, and an object must be unattended or possessed by a willing creature. You can mentally direct the recipient to move up or down as much as 20 feet each round; doing so is a move action. You cannot move the recipient horizontally, but the recipient could clamber along the face of a cliff, for example, or push against a ceiling to move laterally (generally at half its base land speed). A levitating creature that attacks with a melee or ranged weapon finds itself increasingly unstable; the first attack has a –1 penalty on attack rolls, the second –2, and so on, to a maximum penalty of –5. A full round spent stabilizing allows the creature to begin again at –1. Perhaps it's in between the sentences ... But I would love some help in this matter :) Cheers in advance. -TDL

Thanks for that reply .. I've been following this thread for my claw and bite half-orc barbarian :) -TDL
It did look odd to me aswell, but I guess some feat or skill had to be made easy access. Else no one would ever use the claws to fight. Since no one else but the monk can fight barehanded and overcome this kind of DR. Still .. even without it would be a fun character to play.
Besides the Eldritch Claws, the whole claw and bite thing is .. a bit of a cheat too .. Three attacks at your highest BAB .. ;) Still, lacking at the lower levels .. around lvl 10/12 .. you should be a .. beast .. :P -TDL
No biggy :) I've removed the elemental rage powers and added scent and fleshwound. I took a vital strike feat instead of rending claws. He's a tough bad@ss clawing and gnawing everything to shreds :) With this I can do a vital strike power attack with 1 claw after moving, doing 4d6 + 14 damage. After that I do 2x 2d6+14 / 1d4+14 damage when full attacking. This looks nice .. But it might seem I'll be lacking damage in the lower levels. Still, I like the idea :)

Hmm .. I like the scent idea .. better then the rending indeed. Especially vs invisible enemies .. /edit
Cheers for finding that. It did sound a little ridiculous :) Still, two claw attacks and a bite attack with a +15 attack bonus while power attacking and a minimal damage of 16 ... is still not bad :P I'm not looking to do the most damage, it's also flavorful. Here's the rewrite :) Turak 2.0 - Half-Orc Beast Totem Barbarian Alternate racial trait: Toothy for natural bite attack.
Stats - Raging adds +6 Str / +8 Con)
The 8 Cha is not even that low, considering he has claws and fangs. Rage Powers:
Feats:
With Power Attack:
Bolded items are the changes :) I've taken the Elemental Rage to be able to do damage vs swarms.
Only problem is the AC ofcourse ... but then again ... I've got quite alot of Hitpoints to take a beating ;) -TDL

I think the -2 penalty is not an armor check penalty. It does suck a little ... but hey ... you've got a DOOR strapped to your arm ;)And with Shield Focus, and perhaps a +1 magical one, it does add +6 to your AC :) -TDL
Seems I'm not the only one who saw potential in this :) I've altered it a little to suit my needs, and came up with this.
If all goes well, I will be playing this character in our next adventure path Serpentskull. Spoiler:
He will be an outcast, forced to live in the jungle ... living of his animal instincts and a stowaway on the boat. Turak - Half Orc Alternate racial trait: Toothy for natural bite attack.
Stats - Raging adds +6 Str / +8 Con)
The 8 Cha is not even that low, considering he has claws and fangs. Rage Powers:
Feats:
Now, I've entered all this in HeroLab(awesome program thank you Lonewolf!) and while raging this is what my attacks look like. With Power Attack:
Now ... Does this mean I can do 5 attacks in one round ?
I won't be using any weapons ... Ofcourse I will cary one around ... you can't always rage ;) -TDL

Yes, that's what I thought aswell. Besides, I won't be shieldbashing until level 6.But at that point, I will have improved shield bash(keep AC), shield slam(free bullrush) and shield mastery(no penalties and attack bonus) .. and ofcourse a second attack. I figure I move my opponent into position near a wall, shieldbash him(hoping to knock him to the floor) and attack with my axe(since he's prone I get a +4 bonus ;)) and when he tries to get up ... I get an AoO :D Sounds nice to me, hope it will ever work ... but still ... I like the concept :) -TDL

That's what I thought ... Besides this I won't be shieldbashing until level 6 anyway. At level 6 (with my ranger) I will have improved shield bash, shield slam and shield mastery. No penalties at all, free bull rush and I keep my shield AC ... and even more important ... at that level I can attack 2 times. I just need to position myself so that my opponent is with his back against a wall if possible so I can knock him down :) Not sure if this will ever work, but I like the idea ... -TDL
I've just made a weapon/shield ranger because I can have access to shield master at lvl 6 now instead of 12 ;) However do I NEED to take 2 weapon fighting ? At level 1 I can attack once, I can either use my weapon or my shield. Since the shield is an offhand attack I would get the -4 penalty and only half strenght(right?) When I get two attacks at level 6, can I alternate the attacks ?
Since I'm not attacking with two weapons at the same time ... I don't need two-weapon fighting ... right ? Ofcourse this will become better at around level 12 with shield slam/shield master ... So until then I can just hit with the sword ... Hope I got this right :)

Phew .. Glorain Trovag, Dwarven (Urban) Ranger is mostly done. Just need to make a decent background about his training days at the Sable Company, his addiction, near death experience and getting kicked out of the Company and ultimately his goal to rejoin the Company and in the very least turn over Gaedren Lamm to the proper authorities. Should we then create an alias here ? Or have you already decided on another medium to use ? -TDL
Ok, that should be no problem. Another question about the AP, is it going to be a full urban adventure (as in most of it will be in the city ?) or will there be frequent visits to the dangerous outside world :) This should help me choose my favored enemies/terrains. Also, this could help me decide whether to go with the Urban Ranger archetype or not (if you allow this ofcourse.) -TDL

Where else would you be playing ? Not a big problem if it is done somewhere else I reckon, just curious :)

Ah, I see, I must add that I did not focused on the hippogriff perse ;) It's nice but don't know how much use it will have in a city.I just liked the background idea :) How about this, he was a member of the Sable Company, but due to his addiction he got kicked out ? Now he's back on track, due to the former Sable Company member, and looking for a way to rejoin. It might not happen, but he's trying his best. Perhaps he has proven his worth at level 4 and can rejoin because of his actions in the AP ... sounds plausible ? I will then finish the storyline/AP as a member when I've cleared up the mess in which I have found myself ;) And how about the APG ? As a system admin I work behind a computer for most of the day, and own several computers at home, so I can pretty much post any time of the day during the week. Besides this I have never played CotCT, so all should be a complete mystery to me (apart from the players guide that is).
I'd be interested :) One thing, what do you mean with 10/20 ?
[edit]
Thinking of either a dwarf or human.
Kibeth wrote: Well then, considering the amount of interested put forth, I think it's safe to say that we can get started. I'm working on typing up background information and world setting stuff right now. I'll have it posted in either this thread or a thread in the Play by Post discussion forum in the next few days. Thanks to everyone. Cool, even if I might not be selected, thanks for starting this :) I'll create a character as soon as I know more of the story/background/etc :) -TDL
I'd like to reinstate Jane Silverheart.
See her as the party healer and diplomat, who can safely join in on the fight with her mace when talking is no longer an option. Short short background (I've deleted the old one since it was for another campaign) She has led an pretty straightforward life under the tutelage of Sarenrae's clerics in Magnimar. She tended to the sick and helped the poor. Living a pretty good life she felt something missing and after prayers to her beloved god she found her answer. She took up her meager belongings, said goodbyes to her parents and friends and took off, spreading the word of Sarenrae and helping people in need wherever she could. On her travels she had heard about the new cathedral up in Sandpoint and of the Swallowtail festival where the blessing of the gods could surely be felt. She arrived in Sandpoint a few days before the festival and took up residence in the Rusty Dragon Inn.
I'd like to join a new PbP again ... I've recovered some of my spare time ... this might be a good way to fill that time :) I'd like to present Delwyn Mane, an ex-korvosian soldier turned mercenary carrying a falchion and looking like he can put that blade to good use. He has been using his blade ever since he could barely lift it and has mastered it's use beyond normal proficiency. When looking at hime from a distance he doesn't stand out in a crowd, not good looking and not ugly. But when talking to him face to face, there is a glimmer of intelligence about him that belies his stature. His last job involved guarding a merchant to Sandpoint, a dull and boring job, but it pays for food and a roof over one's head. Currently looking for a new job, he has taking up residence in The Rusty Dragon Inn. (As mentioned he will be wielding a falchion and will later try to disarm his enemies while hitting them where it hurts ;) (with disarming strike)) -TDL

My apologies to everyone ... I've completely been swamped with RL and work. I had even forgotten to check in from time to time. I don't like to leave without saying a word, since the DM put some time in my character ... but I'm withdrawing from this PbP. Syeira will retire here, taking up a job until Ameiko returns ;)

Lucendar wrote: Hey TDLofCC, sorry about that, but the rolls are the rolls, that's why I do them on the boards so everyone can see. Triple damage with a longbow is deadly. My first death on a PbP. Let me know how you want to proceed. Ha .. no problem there m8 .. Adventurers often die unexpected. And an arrow to the throat is somewhat letal :PI can roll up another character if you want ... like to try one of the APGs if that allowed. Was thinking an alchemist ;) Just let me know and I'll get to it.
Perhaps we should finish this over the mail ... would be easier and all imho. And ofcourse no hard feelings ... onward to the next character :) -TDL
