More than a little annoyed at being caught between the samurai and his compatriot, Red steps back a bit before firing his bow again.

Red appreciates that he's learned to use his bow in melee without negative effects.
flurry w/bow, point blank master means no AoO- he gets no flank bonus, but still provides one for Gray because of unarmed strike. He's also spending a ki point for an extra attack
bow: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (5) + 11 = 16 damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7

Satisfied for the moment that the first wave is down, Red sprints back up to the top of the tower to keep and eye out for more invaders. "I think they might be interested in burning us out," he mutters to himself. "If anyone has any ability to douse fires, now's the time to speak up," he hollers down the stairs. Gazing out at the little pinpricks of light beyond the edge of his vision, he says, "Ah, what the hell," and aims for one of the lights.

Red sprints down the stairs as fast as he can, taking the back stairs down to the ground floor. double move is 80' Not seeing any intruders in the room, he heads toward the window they would have had to have used.
I'm assuming the doors are open in the rooms. He'll see if he can line up a shot on yellow

Without a clear target, Red waits, arrow strung, ready to fire as soon as he has a chance.

Ready action:
If enemy moves into sight, fire off a shot. bow: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (13) + 10 = 23 (minus any penalties)

Red returns Amasa's grave look with a nod. "We won't fail you," he says. But he does hope they complete their task quickly. He pops out to let the others know the specifics of the mission as of now. "We keep the enemy out of the house. We don't need to hold out forever, just long enough."
so Styfis, Lovissa and Gray Son are on the catapult, is that correct? I believe my best position will be in the tower where I can get a clear shot at whoever comes in range (as long as they don't shoot fireballs up there)

sounds like a plan
After having lit the fire for the lighthouse, Red has one more important thing to try and he may need some back-up here if anyone would like to aid him or make their own rolls.
"Lady Amasa, Lord Tsuneo, I think it would be best if you and your retainers stayed hidden below." Sensing that Iko might be opposed to this, he adds, "Not only are you important, sir, but we will be focused on the enemy, and you're help in protecting Lady Amasa would be invaluable."

Red likes the idea of firing up the lighthouse. "I'd help with the catapult, but too many cooks in the kitchen... I'd just be in the way." But with a little oil, it shouldn't be too hard to light the tower, right?
he can help push barricades and what-not but he's not skilled in siege warfare

diplomacy: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (15) - 1 = 14
Red has never been skilled at schmoozing, but he is respectful, and answers the man's questions as best he can.
"Sir, my philosophy has always been to try to work for the betterment of all. Most of my particular missions have put me in the role of body guard, making sure someone more important than me gets where they need to go or gets back from it in one piece." He takes a thoughtful sip of tea. "But my proudest moments have come when I've been able to help folks in dire straits." if pressed, he'll talk a bit about the Blackros twins who were to be enslaved by fetchlings, leaving out details of how that came to be a problem for them "It has been a privilege to serve this organization and to become part of something larger, something dedicated to the betterment of us all."
He drinks a little more tea as others at the table share there stories as well. He's a little startled at Tsuneo's question about assassination. "No, sir, I've never been asked to kill anyone, though I have had to do so in protecting myself and my charges. The way I see it, I've never hurt anyone that didn't ask for it through corrupt deeds."
Asked about their treatment of allies, he responds, "Sir, I can honestly say, that honoring our obligations to our allies is one of our highest priorities. The Aspis uses enemies and allies alike for profit and power. Their words mean nothing. As soon as a better deal comes along, they'll discard an ally like..." He glances around the table. "Like used tea leaves." Again, he's not the best diplomat, but he is sincere.

Red was hoping he could just stay at the top of the lighthouse to watch for trouble, but he shrugs as he's instructed to be present at the ceremony. "Always had a bit of a thing for tea anyway," he murmurs.

Although he's rarely one for appearance beyond combing his hair, he's actually wearing pretty fancy clothes of green and brown (sort of like a kyudo gi, with billowing pants[hakama], and a flowing top that leaves his left shoulder and arm exposed[haori]). He looks a little uncomfortable in the outfit, despite it being very comfortable clothing. If things go south, I can always run to the tower.

Red helps the others search the place. Constructing fortifications is not in his wheelhouse, so he pretty much stays out of that.
A3 percept: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (14) + 13 = 27
A4 percept: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (4) + 13 = 17
In the end, Red would like to stay in the top of the lighthouse (A7). With that kind of view, he could easily rain down arrows on anyone who tried to approach. And he likes the open view.

if there's a little time then before we leave, Red would be interested in browsing some of the herbal merchants and alchemists in town, maybe even a tea shop. Would he be able to pick up a few things? While not good at schmoozing, he might as well give it a go while out.

Fortunately, this is not the first time Red has had to dress up a bit. He paws through his pack to make sure that his courtier's outfit was brought along. Satisfied that he has that covered, he says, "As bodyguards, I assume we can continue to have weapons on display. I would like to know, what can you tell us about this Way of the Kirin? I confess to knowing little about them or their history."

Red chuckles at the gnome's question. "When it makes the arrows fly just how you want them," he says genially. He gives a nod to the robed half-elf.
And then the Ulfen woman arrives. He can't help but smile, though he remains silent. At this point, I'm just glad to be alive. He shudders remembering being turned to stone by the glare of a basilisk. At least we got the job done.

When the elf steps up, he gives him a nod and an appreciative whistle. "Now, THAT, is a nice bow."

Another lean young man walks in, this one with a really nice looking longbow. The rest of his accoutrements seem... so shabby by comparison.
"Howdy, y'all. Name's Red. Nice to meet ya," he says, his hand extended in a friendly greeting. He nods to the guys, but bows to the lady.

btw, this may get confusing with us having the same picture :)

I'm just wondering... since a kraken caller druid specifically has to worship Besmara, could you take one of Besmara's domains with Nature's Bond instead of the normal druid domains?

Raph's player:
Looong time gamer and lover of roleplaying. I like to have fun with characters and settings, such as playing the super-powered ghost of Elvis or an enthusiastic pet dire wolverine. I actively check boards, some might say obsessively, and respond/post pretty frequently (Wednesdays are my long days, so I'm a bit more constrained to the late evenings). I love the over-the-top, insidious yet hilarious feel of goblins in Pathfinder (and am so bummed you can't use them in PFS). The home rules you've described give this a sort of Feng Shui vibe that I think I can really work with.

---===Background===---:

I don't recall much of my childhood. A few pictures, images, of stuggle, pain, and brief flashes of relief when I managed to get a full belly. No, my memories start when the humans opened their new factory. We lived down slope from a human city, my brothers and I. We would sneak in from time to time and steal, food, pets (also for food), whatever. They threw stuff in the sewer all the time. We had pretty easy pickings. And then the strange liquid came flowing down the sewer. I didn't think it would bother me, I mean, nothing else in the sewer ever did. But over time, I noticed myself changing. And not just me, all of us. That's when he found us, Splintr. I think he was a ratman; I never really asked. He certainly was very rat-like. He took pity on us and dedicated himself to training us. He taught us to speak properly, he taught us to read and write. And he taught us to fight.
To test our new skills, we began to roam the city at night, picking fights with the low-lifes, dealing with those the city wouldn't, or couldn't, deal with... the pesh dealers, pimps, thieves. We really felt like we were making a difference, though we never showed our faces. That all changed when a new warrior arrived. Clothed in spiked armor and calling himself the Shreddr, he defeated us and took over the criminal underworld. In a last ditch effort, we set a trap for him, leaving me out in the open, while my brothers lie in wait. But he saw through our ruse. I was hit from behind. When I awoke, I was alone, on a raft, far from my home. I found a note in my pocket, in Master Splintr's hand writing. "Stay away" was all it said.
So now, I'm alone, lost in a strange place. I guess I'll have to make due. Perhaps if I find others of my kind...

Raph is not a normal goblin. The chemicals he was exposed to greatly affected his memory. He remembers nothing of his early goblin life, and has no experience interacting with regular goblins. His culture more closely resembles that of marginal human populations. In fact, he has very little idea what goblins and their society are really like. He may be in for a rude awakening.

What would be the benefit of moving it from Background?

Also is it pointless or a waste of skill points to have more than one perform skill? I'm thinking of going with a Dervish Dancer archtype, and need perform dance. I like the idea of her being an actor so I was going to take perform act as well. It fits her background and Campaign trait.

There isn't a benefit for switching it to a normal skill, but since perform is a vital skill for bards, it seems like having it be a background skill is kind of a gimme.

As for the second question, it is not pointless to have multiple perform skills for a bard, particularly if you have the versatile performance ability. For non-bards, it's more of a flavor thing, but not necessarily pointless. There are after all a few interesting feats that require a particular perform skill that you might otherwise not get.

Silver Crusade

Quick question: Since it's an all bard thing, does Perform still count as a background skill, or are you counting it as a regular skill?

Aw man, I have like 15 different ideas for this

This has been an interesting discussion to read and think about. I was going to suggest the smart-ass idea (like using it as a coat rack) but Bob Bob Bob beat me to it. I would point out to the Cabbage-Basilisk thread that one of the ideas we have to work with is modern definitions of art that simply are not the same as historic/ prehistoric views. The whole concept of "art for art's sake" is probably a recent creation (keep in mind "recent" is subjective). For most of human history, art most likely had functional attributes, whether magical (like painting a scene of killing a bison to influence your bison hunt), or ceremonial (there's reason to believe that certain cave paintings for example were used in either religious or secular rituals), or whatever. Coming from different traditions of art and viewing excellent craftsmanship, we come to think of them as artistic, and they are, but they aren't at the same time. For example, the mention of the British Museum. When the Brits (and other colonial powers) came into new areas, they often stole objects claiming that the natives wouldn't know how to protect their own art (even though some of these works were hundreds or thousands of years old). The Euros viewed these works as art; the natives may have viewed them as having historical value, religious value, or other values (even something simple like a pot can have artistic value though the potter just used it to cook soup).
Anyway, I'm just thinking out loud. Cool discussion. I hope we find out what PookaWitch decided to do with her statue.
