Male Male Human Init +1, AC 18,T 11, FF 17. HP 38/38. Saves F+6, R+2, W+8. (Spot +8, Listen +8, Survival +10)

Hello everyone, I would like to let you know that I will not continue playing this game with all of you.

It is with a lot of discomfort, and a sense of having bitten a lot more than I can chew that I realized I cannot keep up with all the games I am currently involved with - I think it was maybe a 'noob to the boards' attitude that got me applying to way more games than I can actually keep up with.

PbP, even more than other games requires commitment, and players that can keep the game going forward - unfortunately I cannot be that kind of player for such a massive amount of games, so I will step back and allow someone else to step in, someone that can be as proactive as this game deserves, as well as the others, with an actual rich and valid contribution - that is the stuff RPGs are made of.

I want to offer my apologies, and vow I will not fall into the same mistake again. I have learned my lesson, even though I am harming the games I am currently leaving... I hope there will be a chance to play again with all of you, in a fashion that actually allows me to 'play and participate' as I should, honoring the effort from the other players and GM.

All the best to you.

DM Greg, what limitations, if any, are you placing on the wildshapes Silvanius can take?

One other question - was it assumed we sold gear, purchased other stuff and whatnot, or are we simply plodding onwards?

Male Male Human Init +1, AC 18,T 11, FF 17. HP 38/38. Saves F+6, R+2, W+8. (Spot +8, Listen +8, Survival +10)

Knowledge (Nature): 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (17) + 11 = 28

Staring at the skeleton like image, Silvanius comments to his companions - "I would say this is probably a territorial marker of some sort, though I do not know who would have put it up"

Male Male Human Init +1, AC 18,T 11, FF 17. HP 38/38. Saves F+6, R+2, W+8. (Spot +8, Listen +8, Survival +10)

Agreed on my end - will post Silvanius updated crunch in a few.

Male Male Human Init +1, AC 18,T 11, FF 17. HP 38/38. Saves F+6, R+2, W+8. (Spot +8, Listen +8, Survival +10)

Well, at level 5 I hope I can start flying myself :D

Male Male Human Init +1, AC 18,T 11, FF 17. HP 38/38. Saves F+6, R+2, W+8. (Spot +8, Listen +8, Survival +10)

Woot! Level 5!

Now, let me go dig up my 3.5 books again :D

Not sure there is anything a druid can use from the loot though :/

Male Male Human Init +1, AC 18,T 11, FF 17. HP 38/38. Saves F+6, R+2, W+8. (Spot +8, Listen +8, Survival +10)

Silvanius follows the others upstairs, chasing the hobgoblin as Jives follows quickly after him, squeezing to move through such a tight spot.

Double move up the stairs for both Silvanius and Jives.

Male Male Human Init +1, AC 18,T 11, FF 17. HP 38/38. Saves F+6, R+2, W+8. (Spot +8, Listen +8, Survival +10)

I mean... Really..? That manticore.... Come on... 33 points of damage, Hippogriff down.

Male Male Human Init +1, AC 18,T 11, FF 17. HP 38/38. Saves F+6, R+2, W+8. (Spot +8, Listen +8, Survival +10)

DM Greg, Silvanius should be finishing his spell - as the Manticore has broken free from the webbing, he should be able to place the summoned creature next to it without being entangled, correct? (Like above the manticore for example)

Silvanius finishes his conjuring, summoning an ally to attack the Manticore, and hopefully give them much needed breathing room. The druid retreats inside the room and after Borrum, and beckons Jives to do the same.

Jives moving inside behind Borrum, as far as possible, and Silvanius following - lets leave the hippogriff to handle the Manticore for now :D

Hippogrif modified stats from Augment Summoning: STR+4 -> +2 to hit/damage || CON+4 -> Total HP: 31 - it attacks the Manticore immediately.

Hippogriff Claw attack on Manticore: 1d20 + 8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 8 + 1 = 16Damage: 1d4 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 6 + 1 = 11
Hippogriff Claw attack on Manticore: 1d20 + 8 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 8 + 1 = 28Damage: 1d4 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 6 + 1 = 10
Hippogriff Bite attack on Manticore: 1d20 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 3 + 1 = 7Damage: 1d8 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 4 + 1 = 12

Male Male Human Init +1, AC 18,T 11, FF 17. HP 38/38. Saves F+6, R+2, W+8. (Spot +8, Listen +8, Survival +10)

Ok, cool.

Male Male Human Init +1, AC 18,T 11, FF 17. HP 38/38. Saves F+6, R+2, W+8. (Spot +8, Listen +8, Survival +10)

Silvanius moves into the cloud, and begins chanting a spell.

Moving to K:15 (I should see the manticore but be hidden by the cloud, corrrect?). Starting SNA II - converted Creeping Cold

Jives moves in on the goblin, trying to get rid of a threat to his companions.

DM Greg, how come Jives does not have reach? Attacking the one in I:18

1d20 + 9 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 9 + 1 = 21
Damage: 1d8 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 4 + 1 = 11

Silvanius current available spells:

2 (DC 16, 3/day) - Creeping Cold
1 (DC 15, 4/day) - Entangle, Produce Flame
0 (DC 14, 5/day) - Create Water, Cure Minor Wounds, Detect Magic, Guidance, Light

Male Male Human Init +1, AC 18,T 11, FF 17. HP 38/38. Saves F+6, R+2, W+8. (Spot +8, Listen +8, Survival +10)

Ok, I gotta go for the Bear's Endurance on Borrum - I could be more useful perhaps with a more offensive spell, but Borrum needs to be standing! ;)

Stepping closer to the massively enlarged dwarf, Silvanius calls on Mother Nature's blessing to be shared with his companion, offering him the increased endurance and resilience of the Bear.

So... Moving to I:11, and casting Bear's Endurance on Borrum -> +4 enhancement bonus to Constitution, which adds the usual benefits to hit points (8 I believe :/), Fortitude saves, Constitution checks, and so forth.

------
Jivs moves out from the cloud, and attacks the goblin next to him.

5' step to L:16/L:17|M:16/M:17 if it means he is still in the cloud, if not he moves one step further (K:17/K:18|L:17/L:18), and attacking with reach.

Bite: 1d8 + 9 ⇒ (3) + 9 = 12Damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8

Male Male Human Init +1, AC 18,T 11, FF 17. HP 38/38. Saves F+6, R+2, W+8. (Spot +8, Listen +8, Survival +10)

Will delay my action and see what Reil does. Guys, I can either cast Bear's Endurance on Galdamor and get him back up immediately, or on Borrum, and have him gain 8hp. On the other hand, Reil can zap Borrum, and I can get Galdamor on his feet asap? Or I can start summoning something to drop on the caster right away. Thoughts?

Silvanius current available spells:

2 (DC 16, 3/day) - Bear's Endurance, Creeping Cold
1 (DC 15, 4/day) - Entangle, Produce Flame
0 (DC 14, 5/day) - Create Water, Cure Minor Wounds, Detect Magic, Guidance, Light

Galdamor remember you are recovering 1hp/round for 14 rounds.

Male Male Human Init +1, AC 18,T 11, FF 17. HP 38/38. Saves F+6, R+2, W+8. (Spot +8, Listen +8, Survival +10)

Reaching out with his hand, and touching Galdamor, Silvanius invokes the healing powers of nature - "This will help you recover" - he adds to his companion.

Casting Lesser Vigor - Galdamor, you will heal 1 hit point per round of such damage until the spell ends (14 rounds = 14hp)

Jives moves forward to meet up with his druid companion.

BAt moving to M14/15:N14/15

Male Male Human Init +1, AC 18,T 11, FF 17. HP 38/38. Saves F+6, R+2, W+8. (Spot +8, Listen +8, Survival +10)

Silvanius moves close to Borrum, and offers healing powers to the one he knows stands as their best defense against the onslaught of foes.

Casting CLW on Borrum: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5

Jives stays put, licking his wounds.

Silvanius current available spells:

2 (DC 16, 3/day) - Bear's Endurance, Creeping Cold
1 (DC 15, 4/day) - Entangle, Produce Flame, Vigor, Lesser

Male Male Human Init +1, AC 18,T 11, FF 17. HP 38/38. Saves F+6, R+2, W+8. (Spot +8, Listen +8, Survival +10)

As the Manticore moves away, Silvanius shouts to Jives for him to retreat again to the cover of the obscuring mist, as even both of them are clearly not a match for the formidable creature.

Silvanius moves to Q:14 and attacks the worg with his sling, Jives moves to R15/S15/R16/S16.

Sling attack on Worg at J14: 1d20 + 4 - 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 - 4 = 18Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 1

Sensing the pain from Jives, Silvanius moves out of the conjured fog, aiming a spell at the manticore.

Moving to S:19 - I am expecting it to allow Silvanius line of sight to the Manticore. Then casting Kelpstrand at the Manticore.

Kelpstrand Touch Attack: 1d20 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 3 + 1 = 22

Grapple Check if it hits: 1d20 + 4 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 + 4 = 19

Jives, seriously wounded, reacts by attacking the Manticore.

Male Male Human Init +1, AC 18,T 11, FF 17. HP 38/38. Saves F+6, R+2, W+8. (Spot +8, Listen +8, Survival +10)

Silvanius delays his action until he gets any information or impressions from Jives, as he scouts from above. Or from his companion's actions.

Jives will fly up, and above the light grey towers - not sure how far he can move, since he needs to go up, and then over the tower to peer into the courtyard to try and scout ahead undetected. Question: What do I need to ride Jives - a particular saddle? Will he allow it?

Male Male Human Init +1, AC 18,T 11, FF 17. HP 38/38. Saves F+6, R+2, W+8. (Spot +8, Listen +8, Survival +10)

Silvanius sends Jives ahead, requesting his companion to scan the area from above, as discreetly as possible.

Move Silently: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (10) + 9 = 19
Hide: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19

Spot: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10
Listen: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 24

Not sure if we are supposed to roll all of these :D

Sneaky, I tells ya...

Male Male Human Init +1, AC 18,T 11, FF 17. HP 38/38. Saves F+6, R+2, W+8. (Spot +8, Listen +8, Survival +10)

Oxes are like that - sneaky creatures :D

Silvanius spends the next day in quiet meditation, bith mourning his deceased, long time friend Grook'O, and also asking for guidance and support from Mother Nature to face what lies ahead of them.

It is not a time of beseeching, nor asking for favours or blessings - he simply sits outside, legs crossed, letting the peaceful environment envelop him and drag him in - every once in a while, birds come and sit on his shoulders, to be scaried off by the presence of a squirrel - they treat Silvanius as if he was no more a threat than a leaf in the wind, or a ray of sunshine, and the man smiles at the comforting feeling.

By the end of the day, as dusk settles in, so does the silence fall all around the area, most animal sounds fading into nothingness, as if holding their breath - moments later, the sound of wings can be heard from the distance, closing in fast - from the copse of trees a massive creature, with a large torso almost the size of an Ox, wings spanning as much as 15 feet, glides silently to set itself down on a branch above the druid, standing upside down, motionless and soundless staring at the man for a long time - Silvanius nodded in silent understanding - his voice had been heard.

Jives is here :D

Male Male Human Init +1, AC 18,T 11, FF 17. HP 38/38. Saves F+6, R+2, W+8. (Spot +8, Listen +8, Survival +10)

Ok guys, just trying to get to a decision here - We need an animal companion more for combat than utility, still the Dire Bat is surprisingly capable, to be honest... And may be the best pick, even though he only has ONE attack per round...

Male Male Human Init +1, AC 18,T 11, FF 17. HP 38/38. Saves F+6, R+2, W+8. (Spot +8, Listen +8, Survival +10)

I like the owl idea actually, but we need an addition that will contribute in terms of combat - bear seems like a solid choice, since the horse will not be useful in close quarters I think.

Male Male Human Init +1, AC 18,T 11, FF 17. HP 38/38. Saves F+6, R+2, W+8. (Spot +8, Listen +8, Survival +10)

Not really sure what to go for then - any suggestions people?

Male Male Human Init +1, AC 18,T 11, FF 17. HP 38/38. Saves F+6, R+2, W+8. (Spot +8, Listen +8, Survival +10)

Thanks Borrum - Grook'O was the chosen one. Not sure what I will be looking for next. I have to mull it over some - think I may go for some Leopard type.

Silvanius seems to ponder for a few moments, as Jorr speaks - "The problem here Jorr, is that only Borrum can actually stand toe to toe in melee with them - that minotaur killed my friend Grook in a heartbeat - if it was me, it would take him only half a swing" - his voice trails off, but then he adds - "And we honestly do not possess sufficient ranged damage to take down that manticore quickly. So I have to agree with Borrum, either we manage to take them separately, or we do not stand a chance"

Looking around at the group, he finishes - "But that takes stealth"

Male Male Human Init +1, AC 18,T 11, FF 17. HP 38/38. Saves F+6, R+2, W+8. (Spot +8, Listen +8, Survival +10)

Silvanius will need 24 hours of uninterrupted prayer to get another animal companion. Just sayin' :D

Male Male Human Init +1, AC 18,T 11, FF 17. HP 38/38. Saves F+6, R+2, W+8. (Spot +8, Listen +8, Survival +10)

We are all bailing out, right?

Male Male Human Init +1, AC 18,T 11, FF 17. HP 38/38. Saves F+6, R+2, W+8. (Spot +8, Listen +8, Survival +10)

"Let us get out of here Galdamor!" - Silvanius urges his companion.

Delaying my action - when Galdamor moves, Silvanius follows.

DM Greg wrote:

Sure thing Silvanus. I won't go in a tactics debate or anything or even debating character value. its just not my place. My job is to tell the story as best as i can from the official module :) And the module does sometimes gives specific instruction or insight into the bad guys tactics of frame of mind. My character when i played was different and was an official Living greyhawk character, with all the restriction that it implied in term of feat and Prc selection. your party has a bunch of strong points... :)

Also entangle won't work inside the courtyard Silvanus there aren't enough plants / grass to do so.

In that case:

"Let us move out Galdamor - I'll try to slow them down once outside, though there isn't much I can do against that flying monstrosity"

:D

Male Male Human Init +1, AC 18,T 11, FF 17. HP 38/38. Saves F+6, R+2, W+8. (Spot +8, Listen +8, Survival +10)

I still think we are going to be decimated, unless for some obscure reason the bad guys decide to let us leave, but lets give it our best nonetheless then :D

Shaking his head, and the guilt of having sent Grook'O to his death, Silvanius grits his teeth, and follows Galdamor - "I'll stay while you stay my friend, but with our practical dwarven friend out of the picture, we are in even more dire troubles here..."

Moving to L:13 and casting Entangle in the area where Grook's corpse now lies.

DM Greg, it is not a matter of changing characters, though that may help - thing is, unfortunately, we really have no hardcore damage dealers, neither hardcore healers - most of us are in between [and level 4 for a druid is short - level 5 would be different - my bad there :D] so we are not able to take the enemies down fast enough, nor whitstand their punishment :/ Thanks for letting me retcon Silvanius's actions.

Male Male Human Init +1, AC 18,T 11, FF 17. HP 38/38. Saves F+6, R+2, W+8. (Spot +8, Listen +8, Survival +10)

I understand that, but this is a complicated moment for Silvanius... I really cannot picture him acting in any other way amidst such desperation... I know the character risks death but... This is really in character for him - Grook is like a brother.

Also, and apologies if this is being blunt, but I think we are going to be decimated, so it really doesn't make that much of a difference :D

Male Male Human Init +1, AC 18,T 11, FF 17. HP 38/38. Saves F+6, R+2, W+8. (Spot +8, Listen +8, Survival +10)

Haha Borrum, nice call - I also think we don't have a chance, though Silvanius would never leave Grook'O ;)

Grook'O is hit tremendously by a barrage of attacks coming from all directions, and falls back, stone cold dead.

Grook Reflex save: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9

Damage on Grook = 25 (Manticore spikes) + 28 (Lightning Bolt) + 26 (Minotaur Attack) = 79 points of Damage. Grook'O is dead at -50/29 hit points.

Silvanius screams as if a part of him has just died, and dashes forward - "Noooo!" - dropping his staff and kneeling next to Grook'O, holding the huge ape head in his hands dearly, his eyes filled with tears.

Male Male Human Init +1, AC 18,T 11, FF 17. HP 38/38. Saves F+6, R+2, W+8. (Spot +8, Listen +8, Survival +10)

Round 21

"Go my friend! We need your speed and strength!" - Silvanius urges the impatient Grook'O forward - "Move there! And grab the one attacking our dwarven friend!" - he points towards the main tower.

The ape immediately dashes out the door, howling and screeching, moving towards the main tower, and where apparently their caster foe is located.

As the caster attacked Borrum with a spell, I am going to assume the door of the main tower where he is located is open? If so, Grook'O goes to stand right in his face with a double move:
- If he can squeeze through G:16 and if the hobgoblin is alone, he will move inside to E:19/F:19/E:20/F:20 and cut him off;
- If not, he stays in G:15/H:15/G:14/H:14, since I don't think he can move and attack him during this round;
- If the door is closed, Grook'O will try to climb up the tower with what remains of his move, if it can be entered from above;
- If not, he is intent on breaking the door down.

Hope that was clear :D

"Hold on for a moment longer friend..." - Silvanius places his hand on the shoulder of his impatient ape companion, and waits for Borrum's feedback from outside, still pondering the strange ways in which fey magic works in the world.

Thanks for the boost there DM Greg :D
