Haha, then I guess Rin must be from Varrok's Deep too then. Makes sense if that's the place that got hit first, being closest to the underground labyrinth's of the Drow and all. Still, Dwarven Kingdoms are huge, so you may not have even heard of Rin, or come across his wares/shop. He left pretty soon after the attack though, and is somewhere up on the surface right now (present time) with his trusty large bastard sword (his one, not the gift to Hraggir), along with his few remaining belongings. I've been counting the funeral as happening before the earthquake's and Drow invasion, so his back story actually takes place in the future from where we are now. ;)
Well, if we both make it to the full game and you put a rank in linguistics to understand him, I'll translate everything for you. :) @Angrin - Are you from below the surface then? I haven't read your profile in case of spoilers etc. The same goes for everyone else, but Rin is from very far down in the Five Kings Mountains. When the Drow broke up, he was where the first attack hit after the earthquake. Got out though!

Turning to Dunderbran for a moment, Rin glances at his blade and shrugs. This blade? A hindrance? By Trudd's beard, it's a work of art! The finest craftmanship around I'd bet. Sure some can craft their own armour, but most work better with stone. Metal's my thing and has been for years! As Issolda vents her frustrations, the blonde haired Dwarf turns towards her also, raising an eyebrow momentarily before shaking his head. It wouldn't be appropriate but if I whipped it out right now, they'd certainly have a shock! I reserve that for lovers anyhow, and my sword is just a better representation of what I have below. It's effective in combat. My swinging serpent is not....or at least I don't think it is.... Rin laughs loudly, questioning the thoughts of the woman. Ha! Hahaha! HAHAHA!!!! 'At b'wair yr'ong laahs. 's ah fyn re'pr'zent'asian 'f mi'tahl. Wai tha'trayn 'f fawt? Ya int'rsted ah sum'ng? he says, before placing his sword on the ground, horizontally in front of Hraggir's tomb. As he climbs to his feet, he heads over to the table of Harrowers, bowing at Angrin's statement, before leaning over the card table to pour himself another drink, joining in with the toast and shouting AYE!, as he raises a full tankard high into the air.

With his respects paid and with little more for Rin to do, the young Dwarven man finishes up his performance to the late Hraggir Skuldafn the only way he can....by lowering his large sword into a stylish finisher. As Rin's weight shifts backward, the sword above his head begins to plummet forwards, when suddenly the blonde Dwarf begins to turn, spinning faster and faster with every rotation, using the weight of his momentum to carry him around before his blade has a chance to hit the ground. With a 7ft sword and a huge gust of wind thanks to his whirlwind manoeuvre, the Harrow cards and other loose bits of paper around the room begin to fly everywhere, before Rin slows himself down, bringing his blade softly to the ground. 'at'll eh'bowt d'wit!
Well...Rin has no issue with anyone other than a slight dislike for the Empress due to stealing the show from the dead and expecting people to approach her, when the only respects being paid should be those to Hraggir in his mind. :) Also, heads up. Just about to go to bed but a post will no doubt cause a stir for every Dwarf in the room with what Rin's about to do.
Yea, I think with so much going on, the only option is to do things that might create curiosity or interest with the other players, so that's how I've been doing it, as well as posting in here that there's something else to react too. :p @Daelric - Well. Bonds have been formed. Not sure about friendship just yet. That'll take a while, but still, we've all had I think at least one interaction. :)
Male Dwarf Barbarian 2
I think it's about time I paid my respects. Sure beats sitting around watching others talk, that's for sure. Giving Magnus a glance, Rin stands up swiftly, tall and proud as he takes a deep breath and watches all those around him converse. Lifting his oversized sword with both hands, he drags it around the table, making the deafeningly loud and gut wrenching high pitched tone once more. Ignoring the reactions of those around him, he stands as close to Hraggir's stone coffin as possible, and mutters a few words, kneeling down for a few moments before flicking his wrists and swinging his 7ft Bastard Sword high into the air....positioning himself under it, keeping the weapon balanced directly above his head. As he holds position, he stands then looks up, following the bladed edge of his weapon to its very tip, at which point he smiles, staring upward towards the ceiling. The sky I'm imagining is much greater than that of this finely crafted ceiling. I bet you're in a finer place lad, and I wish you all the best. Mah r'spcs t'y br'va.

As his swords teeter's above him, Rin just stands there, holding his posture.
Magnus Bjornsson wrote: You know just looking at who is currently posting ie has posted in the last 48 there are only 12 of us maybe rob could take us all lol. Wishful thinking I reckon! :p I've created all I can this week and am just hoping now. Created a rough copy of my back story, and when the weekend hits (no doubt after the selection process), it'll all make sense and probably consist of three Microsoft Word pages. I'll post something tomorrow to cause a scene once more, hopefully sparking more convo.
Gotta head to bed now as I have work in 8 hours, but before I go, as an example of how Rin speaks, maybe this'll help you: Aye, 'lse shid'av a'narmy 'f Dw'ves aft'r'er, prohb ber'ing'er 'n tha'wlls 's wi'speek. Translates into: Yea, else she'd have an army of Dwarves after her, probably burying her in the walls as we speak.
Lol, I find that much harder to read tbh Darius. It feels like a different language to Stubs'. :p I always try to make it so you can understand what parts of the word are missing, usually using apostrophe's to mark that, so once you crack it, I'm sure you'll read it just fine. I'm actually somewhat used to writing it now. @Magnus - How do you read it? Following the guidelines I posted before? Or do you just simply get it? :) @PH.Dwarf - Aww. The image was still a good one!
Or nauseated? :p And yea, that's the way he talks unfortunately. I can sympathise. I have to re-read it multiple times to make sure it's at least readable by Magnus. He seems to get it well though! Gotta be original, and Rin lives where everyone is now. Just gotta get a story up tomorrow explaining how he came to a pub that allowed an Ogre to enter. Pretty easy really, as is linking it in with Rob's info on the Five Kings Mountains. :D I actually like this Dwarf when I turned my nose up at playing Dwarves previously. He's a bit mental, but hey ho. :p
Alright, so I just need to find time to create a backstory now. Posting regularly isn't the problem. It's finding time to create a decent back story that is! Hopefully tomorrow after work will be the time I get it done. Anyway, Rin's profile is complete. If I'm not fortunate enough to be selected, it'll probably be because so far Magnus is the only character to engage with him properly, but I've updated his equipment list fully now, even giving him smoked goggles to not blind himself when crafting, and just so you all know....his Anvil is not kept on him. It's stationed at his Mighty Weapons Smithery in the Five Kings Mountains (his home). :p

I think he's just really hard to understand even for a Dwarf. He just as q very thick Dwarven accent and yea I kinda figured you were all speaking in common to make things easier as then everyone understands each other. :-P Typical of my luck haha! Creating an accent that isn't needed. @Magnus - I swear I posted to you. Must have been eaten, but regardless, I now have something to reply to. Will try to get a response up asap but away all day. Only got a few things to finish up. :-)
Well, I'd be up for that Faelar, but I would really like to join in with this one in particular. I see things as going two ways with Rin: 1. He won't get accepted because nobody understands him, regardless of the fact he actually sounds Dwarven and every other Dwarf sounds human now. :p 2. He'll be forutnate enough to be chosen on roleplaying grounds and we'll all become accustomed to one anothers characters. We shall see! He's not an argumentative guy, and using Lord of the Rings as reference, he recited his family heritage, because well....most Dwarves seemingly do at the drop of a hat! ;) I've still got my back story to do, but that is pretty much everything. All that's left of my build is to present my carrying capacity and sort out how much money I have after my gear. I'm in London all weekend so can't do too much between now and Monday, but I hope that won't go against me as I like this the funeral at the minute, even though I'm pretty certain most people are ignoring him as they can't properly understand him....which is why he'll be so happy to talk to Magnus. @Magnus - If you go up a bit, I think I spoke to you in a paragraph or so. :)

Rin nods. Aye, tha b' aboot r'ght! This lad just needs to listen harder I'd say. The other guy can understand me, so it can't be that hard to hear! In time, in time. Yea, because to him, he thinks he speaks as he thinks. His accent isn't present within his mind, or...he's not aware of it being any different to the well spoken voice he has in his head.

Gotta say, Rin's accent is mega hard even for me to understand, but as I know what he's saying, I think the misinterpretations that can come about are going to be pretty amusing over the course of this campaign if picked, and who knows, maybe with enough time spent in the company of normal non-accentee's, his accent might clear up a little and become a little more understandable. Re-reading what I type just seems to get worse and worse as things go on, but he speaks how things sound mostly, just with some beginning and ends of words cut out, almost as if he strings them together with no breaks between. Needless to say, I haven't ever once played a character like this. The same as I've never played a Dwarf before, and as for his accent? I think it's a mixture of Irish, Scottish and Welsh. Hmm. He'll be fun to play/fight with though, and his Story Feat is about as ridiculous as his looks and speech. He doesn't tend to waffle on too much though, so his conversations have been short and to the point, but I think he's finding it hard to get a word in as so many conversations are going on at once. So, I'm roleplaying exactly as him and that's why my posts are shorter than a lot of the others, but then again with the length of time it takes to translate his speech, I think it more than makes up for it! :p

I like how we all seem to more or less get on straight away, but Dwarves have always been social and compassionate with regards to their own race, so it makes sense. :p This accent takes longer to type than it would normally, but I like it. I'm thinking about creating an accent dictionary for every word I use, but so far have just been winging it and it seems to match/go well!

Thinking back a few moments ago, Rin slightly chuckles to himself, more than likely coming across as a little odd, having only just sat down yet is already laughing at his own thoughts. Lass, this is a fine piece of art. One of my best in fact! It would have been better if I didn't have to drag it around everywhere, but the only time it can leave the ground is when the momentum of my swing makes it so. Besides, I've folded the steel in this blade seven hundred and seventy four times, and if anything, dragging it along this stone floor will only sharpen it. Hahaha!
Haha! Yea, I had to re-read it myself to make sure it was readable! I was trying to do something like a northern Scottish-ish accent, but I think it came out as a new language! If anyone wants to put a rank in linguistics to understand his language of "Bullsh*t", feel free! Though, I've not used that yet. I'll save that for his moaning, grumpy rambles.

Late as always, Rindovaan enters the hallway with what looks to be a shiny new sword, larger than most wielded by dwarves and seemingly better suited to an Ogre or something of similar size. As the blonde but red tipped haired Dwarven man walks through, he immediately holds his breath and winces at the smell of one man's unclean beard. Those watching the odd haired Dwarf might notice something engraved in his sword. DC15 Perception Check:

Those in the room can clearly hear the sickening and high pitched sound of scraping metal - a sound grating enough to make anyone with hearing cringe, as the man drags his shiny oversized weapon across the ground and towards the table where the Stone-Lord and other Dwarves seem to be gathering. Saying nothing in passing, Rindovaan shifts a chair over and plonks himself down next to Daelric. Tee's ar traabling dai fer'us. 'nuva sol larst, bart'i gaas wee'v'all garts ta goh sum dai. Story Feat – Nemesis:
On one drunken night, an Ogre smashed his way into a pub and threw Rindovaan Curly Stubs through a wall, claiming the Dwarf’s Aunties, Uncle’s, Nephew’s, Son’s best friend was caught sneaking into his household, placing tiny “pokey prods” (caltrops) on every chair in the Ogres (Ballac HasselHeart’s) household. When the boy (Turpin Reynold’s) was caught…..and before his skull was brutally ripped out through the front of his face, the boy, out of fear, told the Ogre that it was Curly Stubs idea and that Mr. Curly Stubs hates all Ogre’s, gaining excitement from making a fool out of every one. This wasn’t the case however, as Rindovaan hadn’t met an Ogre or even heard of Ballac before this point, and due to the lies of one foolish and mischievous boy not even related to Rindovaan, the Ogre’s family (the HasselHeart clan) now relentlessly hunts down the Dwarf, spawning undead and ambushing him seemingly whenever he lets his guard down. As such, Mr.Curly Stubs wants his revenge and plans to humiliate the three of them by tying them together with a few of his ridiculously strong Dreadlocks (which won’t take him long to regrow), and leaving them hanging over a cliff until they learn their lesson.
