M Halfling Druid 1 | AC: 16 | HP: 15/15 | Fort +4 T, Ref +6 T, Will +8 E | Speed: 25 ft | Perception +6 | Focus: 1/1

Prillett eagerly and attentively watches Lindevaile dance, hoping his wife isn't around during the performance.

Lore (farming): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10

I might have to put my 2E playing on hold-- I think I'd rather get more familiar with it in a F2F setting before doing PbP. But thanks for the game!

Ah so no surviving sections or anything? Gotcha.

This place must have been magnificent, Prillett marvels as he looks around the manor. Once. "We should check those doors on the other side before going upstairs. Or go home, that would also be a strong option."

Nope you are correct, that's how it works in 2E. Further evidence is the Trap Finder rogue feat, which says (among other things):

Trap Finder wrote:
"Even if you aren’t Searching, you get a check to find traps that normally require you to be Searching. You still need to meet any other requirements to find the trap."

So rogues with this feat can Stealth and Search at the same time, but the rest of us can't.

Am not trained in Religion.

Prillett jumps at the sound, and skirts wide around that spot of floor. "Oh, look at that. It's haunted. Can we go now?"

Verdant Wheel

Prillett keeps his eyes peeled. "What was that?" he asks at least three times.

I'm good to continue, but I know it's not fun to feel like you can't contribute, so we can rest.

Can I swing from around the building?

Strike: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13
Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9

Strike: 1d20 + 5 - 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 - 5 = 11

Cursing the creature's greater mobility, Prillett takes off after it.

Prillett moves up and swings his staff with both hands.

Stride, Strike, Strike
Staff 1: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16
Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8

Prillett laughs. "I'm not some fancy schoolyard philosophiser, miss. I'm a farmer. I can tell you to plant bittercorn in the morning, and sweetroot in the afternoon. How the air tastes at night when a storm's coming at dawn. I'm telling you, these people deserve better than to stay frozen like this."

"They aren't decorations," Prillett agrees with Sylvia. "They're people, and they're sick. I would think you would have a duty to help them if you can. It just so happens that we have a remedy. Only one-- I'm sure you know this kind of thing isn't easy to come by. But we help where we are able."

"Seems to me this whole business can be avoided if we just march up to old what's-his-name and restore him to squishiness. Then the people will see that he doesn't belong to anyone, as a statue or otherwise."

"I agree," Prillett says the next morning, pointing a fat sausage at Lindevaile before taking a bite of it. "We should help... what was her name? Fola?" And leave the haunted house well alone, he thinks privately. "It may not matter to the statue, but it would mean a great deal to her."

Shillelagh vs black, two-handed: 1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 5 + 1 = 12

I don't know about the magicky ritual, Prillett thinks as he chants over his staff in a low voice. But this thing, I can help with. His weapon grows and shimmers with primal power.

Casting shillelagh to make it a +1 striking staff. If the wisp is in Kramac's square, I'll need to step forward.

"It certainly looks like the ritual has gone wrong," Prillett agrees. He's not so sure, though, that these spirits are planning an attack.

I'll be watching the shadows, Sense Motive +3.

Don't know why they insist on taking me to such highfalutin places, the halfling thinks as they wander through Miskatonic University the College of Mysteries. I was told there'd be lots of exploring the wilderness. Having some experience with libraries, though, thanks to his Society induction training, he heads there in search of help. "Hullo there," he says brightly to the person behind the desk.

I have Library Lore, would that help me?

Yes, I'd like to spend some time to Refocus. I can take one of the talismans, since I'm likely to be making First Aid checks.

Clearly, someone has been here recently. Prillett the cat paws at the (relatively) clean floor, trying to point out to the others the lack of algae here.

Is Perception always a secret roll? Also, my Wild Shape lasts for 10 minutes so youll have to let me know when that time is up.

Do the vegetation and barnacles count as "foliage" or "undergrowth"? If so, as a wildwood halfling I can ignore the difficult terrain in here (and I don't see anything in pest form or the polymorph rules that overrides such abilities).

Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24

Prillett notices a few interesting things about the creature, but is unable to communicate any of it to his allies.

"I agree. And I may be uniquely able to help here. This is a trick I've found useful for tending chickens." Prillett's form twists and shrinks rapidly, sprouting fur and a tail. His gear melts into his shrinking form like wax. In a few seconds, the halfling has turned into an alley cat. He pads quietly down the steps into the cargo hold, sniffing the air.

Spending 1 Focus point on Wild Shape (pest form). I now have a Stealth modifier of +10. Is that a secret roll? I also have imprecise scent 30 ft.

I'll inspect the vegetation. Anything unusual about it?

Prillett wakes and stretches. The soft inn bed felt good but left his back sore. Reminder to self: perhaps the floor next time. He dressed, cast a few prestidigitation spells on his clothes and hair to make himself more presentable, took up his pack and staff, and joined his new allies.

No Diplomacy here either.

M Halfling Druid 1 | AC: 16 | HP: 15/15 | Fort +4 T, Ref +6 T, Will +8 E | Speed: 25 ft | Perception +6 | Focus: 1/1

Prillett shudders. "Sounds sufficiently spooky. Traipsing about in a house better left to the dead, no thank you."

"And my name is Prillett, a simple halfling who," he looks around at all the important Pathfinders gathered about, "has never felt quite so small. But I do know a thing or two about bringing aid, magical and otherwise, to the suffering."

Can't beat that! (Literally, I can't.)

"Many goals," Prillett assures Urwal, hoping to warm him to Lleylo regardless. "We have no shortage of documenters, I'm sure. What we need more of are people who know what to experience. How to tell a springvine from a gnarlsbane, or a moon lily from a poison pill flower."

All too eager to find more familiar territory, Prillett seeks out Urwal, his faction leader. "Well met, sir. Not sure if you remember me, but I'm a recent addition to your faction. I'm eager to give a voice to the wilder places of the world, keeping the more-- destructive-- tendencies of the Society in check."

Verdant Wheel

M Halfling Druid 1 | AC: 16 | HP: 15/15 | Fort +4 T, Ref +6 T, Will +8 E | Speed: 25 ft | Perception +6 | Focus: 1/1

I don't know any of this stuff, Prillett thinks, looking at the others. Perhaps I was a fool to get mixed up in all this. What does the Society want with a simple farmer, anyway?

I'll keep my mouth shut for now.

"I'd be happy to help you, dear," the halfling offers, "but I don't want to give you the wrong idea. I know a bit of magic, but not nearly enough to turn someone from stone to flesh. Mostly just enough to make life a little easier."

Kramac's bringing a 9th-level 1e character! We're saved!

Lindevaile Tindome wrote:

"Are these celebrations always so noisy and crowded?"

"Wouldn't know, miss," Prillet says. The halfling's garb is simple but clean, his tools plain and functional-- giving a distinct impression of someone with little means who wants to make a good impression. "The fancy life was never mine."

(peeks at her field training)
"Don't believe we have, but it's a pleasure anyway. My name's Prillett, and I'm a farmer by trade. Now, who might I talk to about..."

I will look for Verdant Wheel representatives, if there are any.

Now I kinda want to make a character who does that anyway, whenever he succeeds at a Knowledge check-- makes something up so that it looks like he knows more than he does.

I have a 1e character who dumped Int and makes up information he doesn't know. It's fun!

SodiumTelluride here, with my brand-new halfling druid. GM, your suggestions look good to me; I'll admit I don't know enough about 2e, and certainly not enough about how it works in PbP, to really have an opinion on how it should be run. So I'll trust your best judgment!
