If the enemy ship is further away that the speed rating of the missile (or torpedo), the missile will take more than 1 round to reach the target.

If the Science Officer takes a Target System action, if the missile scores a critical it will affect the targeted system.

Does the science officer need to make this check when the missile is launched?

Or does the science officer need to make this check in the round when the missile will hit?

Doting for interest, but a little too busy right now. I'll have a look more closely this evening.

What we have now is better than it was when the avatar system got badly messed up, but it still isn't as good as it originally was.

And while we're at it, I'd like some Starfinder avatars!

I had hoped to play my Solarian, Aazanar Kroi, but he is currently in a Scoured Stars Invasion game and I'm not sure if it will end before Oct 1st.

If necessary I can bring another character.

Will the date of this game change based on the website outages?

I think I'm going to make Brother Belchfast a dwarf. Background will be the same. I'll take a bit of a hit on my STR, but I can live with that. DEX will be comically low; his AC and HP at 1st level will be the same. :) Trait will be Rostlander.

Have redone the crunch, and will tidy up the gear and such soon.

This might be a good game for a cleric of Cayden Cailean, Brother Belchfast.

Brother Belchfast is a good soul who just can't help getting into trouble. He has been kicked out of too many taverns and beaten up in too many brawls. He has always been quick to jump to the defense of the underdog and the downtrodden, even when he doesn't know what the concern is. This often ends up with him wrecking the thing he was supposed to protect, or accusing the wrong man of misdeeds.

When he recently 'rescued' a damsel in distress, leaping with her into the muddy river to escape, only to find out that the man he was recuing her from was her noble husband and the two always had their public squabbles, it was suggested that Belchfast leave Restov. For good. He didn't see what the big deal was... after all, he was sure the stains on her dress would come out. Pretty sure, anyway.

I'll have to rejigger the crunch a bit (Stats will probably be STR 16 DEX 8 CON 14 INT 10 WIS 14 CHA 12) but he is mostly done. Originally Belchfast was done for another recruitment so the gear also needs redoing.

Belchfast is built to be decent with a rapier, but often he will stagger around drunkenly and distract enemies (which will work like an aid another attempt).

Considering submitting a Mystic.

Is this the kind of campaign where a Xenodruid would be useful? There would have to be a significant amount of wilderness exploration for that kind of character to be worth creating.

GM AVR: a couple questions about the campaign world.

1. Is the magic sort of a steampunky-technomagic? If I am playing a magcian of some kind, should he have weird "inventions" as components or foci for the spells?

2. Are there guilds of magic or magical organizations?

3. Do the ships sail by wind power? Or do they have engines.

Okay, dotting.

I am thinking perhaps a Sylph mught be good. Not sure what class yet. Working it out now.

Wandering GM Wastrel wrote:

Hey GM: You have listed Asloga Njalsdottir as complete but a lot of her backstory and stuff is in the form of point-form notes. I didn't get a chance to polish it as much as I'd like but I could tidy that up later tonight.

Also I never got around to miscellaneous gear but that is kind of tedious and I'd rather wait for that part until I find out if I am picked.

Okay, cool... dotting. I missed out in the other thread.

I love the idea of playing an ogre but I see there is already one ogre submission.

Maybe a warpriest? Bloodrager? Not sure.

Is there a deity that is a rough equivalent to Gorum in your universe?

Darn! Missed it. Oh well.

Airship pirates, indeed. Dotting for interest.

Any inspiration from The Aeronaut's Windlass and subsequent books?

OK guys, thanks for the clarification.

Okay, I'm getting there. The character will be Asloga Njalsdottir, Ifrit bard. She has the Mostly Human racial alternate trait so she looks human.

Backstory is not finished yet but is coming along nicely.

Primary role is as a buffer and knowledge character.

Kingdom roles? Not sure.
* Ruler would be fine. :)
* Consort would actually work depending on who the ruler was. Though this would need to be an "active" leadership role.
* Grand Diplomat or Councilor would also work well.

FYI I have played this scenario once with a different character.

Arc Riley wrote:
Not giving him a chronicle sheet at the conclusion of his first game was your mistake,

I am giving him a chronicle at the end of the game. The game just ended and I am making up the sheets now, but we are resolving which character # to put on the sheet, which is why I made this post.

The thing is the character he wanted to apply the sheet to joined another game part way through this game.

The games in question are PbP BTW, if that's causing the confusion. The games themselves can take a month or more by PbP. So after our game started he created a character and began playing in another game. That game is still ongoing.

PbP makes things a little weird because of the length of time it takes.

Subject says it all. What do you think?

Hi guys.

Just finished my GMing my first SFS scenario, "The Commencement." Now I have to make some chronicle sheets, and a question came up.

One of my players didn't have a level 1 handy and played Navasi, the pre-gen envoy. He made up the character later, and the character he intended to apply it to ended up in another game.

* Is it legal for him to apply the sheet to this character if that character is still in another game?

* If not, is it legal for him to wait and apply the sheet to that character after the other game is finished?

What should I do here? Thanks in advance.

My Solarian, Aazanar Kroi, should be just shy of level 3, needing 1 more XP to level up, unless I am able to GM a game and have it finish before the deadline, and apply it to Aazanar (which I hope to do). He is my most advanced character.

But I don't mind playing my level 2 in a tier 3-4 if you guys want.

Dotting for interest.

This might be a good game for Qazag Qoroshúk, my half-orc cavalier, a former low-ranking cavalry officer who was sent on the mission to pacify the region. Qazag was made for another kingmaker-type game in a homebrew world, but that game died out.

Brainiac wrote:
@Peet, it looks like the initial post says we get average starting wealth.

Thanks, missed that one.

Dotting... I brake for Kingmaker. I apply for pretty much every KM recruitment I can.

Thinking of a bard from Taldor, whose father was a member of the Ulfen Guard and his mother was a Qadiran prisoner who became his father's wife. He ended up leaving because of racial discrimination agains his "half-breed" traits and also because he secretly worshiped Sarenrae, a religion frowned upon in Taldor as an "enemy" religion. Actually I'm not sure yet if I want the character to be a man or a woman.

Character will primarily be built around buffing and knowledge skills.

No avatar yet but I'll get working on the details.

GM Stuff:
The character will have trained in the Kitaharodian Academy in Oppara, which is one of the world's biggest bard colleges, but is also a training ground for the Lion Blades, Taldor's intelligence agency. The character will secretly be a Taldan spy.

The Kitharodian academy membership also opens up these feats from the Faction Guide:
Master Performer
Grand Master Performer

BTW, GM: How much Starting Gold?

Drat. Have fun guys!

Hi there!

I made up Yazan Ashwater as a PFS character who then ended up in a Second Darkness game. I then realized that her background would really have suited her being in a Reign of Winter game instead.

Yazan is an Oni-Spawn Tiefling born of an orcish mother and an ogre mage father in the Hold of Belkzen. She was cast out of her tribe but was befriended by a shaman of Feronia, goddess of the Flame. She moved in among the tribesmen of the realm of the Mammoth Lords and studied the ways of Feronia though she was never truly accepted there either.

Eventually she decided that she had to serve a divine purpose and decided that the ice queens of Irrisen were enemies of Feronia the Fire Goddess. So she set out to do something about it.

Crunch: She is curerenly statted out at level 7 for a different campaign, so I will have to re-work her. Class will be inquisitor, with perhaps a dip in Warpriest. She is meant to be a tanky melee fighter with lots of knowledge skills and intimidate ability.

Questions:
Time Zone: EST, but I tend to be awake late at night since I work nights.

Number of PbP games you are currently active in: about 20, including society games. I am currently running four.

preference for maps (roll20, google docs, etc): I prefer Google Draw or Google Slides. Roll 20 has some things going for it but it takes three clicks plus a 15-second countdown when you want to use it.

your familiarity with the Reign of Winter AP: I know the basic premise I think but I have netiher played it nor run it.

Character concept: See above. Will have to re-work the crunch.

Scores will probably be: STR 18, DEX 10, CON 14, INT 12, WIS 15, CHA 8.

Think we will be going with Argon-42, Android Technomancer 2.

Definitely would like to get a character in. Could be Aazanar Kroi, Lashunta Solarian 2, or Argon-42, Android Technomancer 2.

Which tier will this be? I currently only have level 1 and 2 characters but might have a level 3 by then.

Is this a repeatable scenario?

Obozaya only has ranks in Athletics, Intimidate, and Survival (she only has 3 skill ranks at level 1). Pretty sure I can't use any of those for a Day Job roll, and Day Job rolls are trained-only.

The character the chronicle will be applied to has a profession skill. Can I use that one?

If So:
Profession: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (1) + 12 = 13 :)

Obozaya does not get a day job roll (she has no profession skill). I think most of the pre-gens are like that.

You can apply the chronicle to my 701 character. So that's PFS# 68401 - 701.

Always gotta see what I get for rolled stats.

Let's roll:

4d6 - 1 ⇒ (5, 1, 5, 5) - 1 = 15
4d6 - 2 ⇒ (2, 4, 5, 6) - 2 = 15
4d6 - 3 ⇒ (3, 4, 6, 3) - 3 = 13
4d6 - 3 ⇒ (5, 6, 6, 3) - 3 = 17
4d6 - 1 ⇒ (2, 1, 1, 6) - 1 = 9
4d6 - 3 ⇒ (3, 3, 5, 5) - 3 = 13

Not bad.... but I feel lucky. Let's see if we can do better:

4d6 - 4 ⇒ (6, 4, 5, 6) - 4 = 17
4d6 - 1 ⇒ (3, 3, 3, 1) - 1 = 9
4d6 - 4 ⇒ (4, 5, 5, 6) - 4 = 16
4d6 - 1 ⇒ (1, 6, 6, 2) - 1 = 14
4d6 - 2 ⇒ (2, 6, 6, 6) - 2 = 18
4d6 - 2 ⇒ (5, 2, 4, 6) - 2 = 15

Nice! Definitely workable. Let's see what I can do with that.

GM Valen wrote:

GM Valen wrote:

Here you are rolling again for an image, even though all the images should already be gone.

So even if you don't reroll for all the times you rolled for images, Talbot should have an extra 2 damage from this last attack.

If you do make rerolls then the first time Talbot takes a hit instead of an image, the rest of the rolls would not need to be rerolled.

This is why if you are not moving it is better to full attack than trick attack at level 1.

Obozaya's bleeding seems to stop.

Spending 1 RP to stabilize.

GM Hall: A couple of build questions.

1. I notice you are using the Feat Tax variant. That variant is nice but does very little for casters. Spell focus is a really common feat that acts as a tax for magic feats in much the same way that Combat Reflexes acts as a tax for maneuvers. How do you feel about getting rid of the requirement for Spell Focus as a prerequisite for feats like Spell Specialization and Augment Summoning?

2. How do you feel about a character starting off at middle age (with relevant age modifiers)?

@Peet: Not trying to convince you, but... have you considered Abadar?...

I hadn't considered Abadar, because the religion isn't "spooky" at all, and it seemed weird to play a necromancer cleric of a deity that doesn't have death or darkness or any domains like that. The most recent iteration of the character was going to have the Darkness/Void domains.

But I could see a cleric with the Separatist archetype who belonged to a sect that reveres the Ghost of Malthus as a kind of patron saint. I'll start working on that.

Obozaya has enough movement to just get into melee range, but will delay until everyone else has gone, so she doesn't get in the way of ranged attacks and provide cover for Talbot.

Delayed Action:

Obozaya rushes around the corner towards Talbot.

Moving up to the yellow "X".

"Where you think you're going?" she shouts. As she comes around the corner, she swings her doshko backwards, so the spiked points trail behind, meaning to take Talbot with the blunt haft of the weapon.

Doshko -4 nonlethal: 1d20 + 4 - 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 - 4 = 14

She jumps out of the cart and swings her doshko at the remaining miner.

I'd suggest N rather than CN; The Hall was keen on no anarchists, and Groetus would already be straddling that line.

I thought you were interested in coming from Geb?...

Either Geb or the new "hybrid kingdom" on the west coast that Geb Necromancy is a part of.

My first necromancer concept was LN and built around Anubis, but most interpretations of Anubis don't allow for the creation of undead. The inevitable domain is the only domain that grants clerics the command undead spell. Sadly, there aren't that many deities on the LN list, and few of them fit the theme. But if I wanted to go with Lawful, maybe Thoth?

If there was a deity that considered unintelligent undead to be "magical machines" and had a mechanical outlook on things that would work and also fit with the inevitable concept.

* I love games with a kingdom building element. To me that is at the heart of an old-school character's goals. In 1e D&D it was just assumed that this was something you wanted to do, and was built into the various classes.

I would probably be re-theming this character: Pallan Dromus

He was made for a homebrew world and then ended up in a different game based on Diablo II. He is a cleric and for Golarion he would probably be a cleric of Groetus or something like that. CN or N alignment.

He believes that great catastrophes are soon going to overwhelm the civilized nations of the world and sees the new colony as a way to hide and ride it out.
