About Asloga Njalsdottir

Background:

Ulfen Ancestors

Long ago, before the creation of Irrisen and the opening of the Worldwound, Ulfen explorers and settlers used to travel east, skirting the crown of the world. They came to the Lake of Mists and Veils, and many settled on the east shore in Iobaria. Others settled on the south shore, and intermingled with the local Kellid population, gradually forming the hybrid culture known as Issia.

Though the Ulfen and Kellid blood became intermixed, in many cases the Ulfen families became the aristocracy, and were proud of their Ulfen heritage, even if that ancestry had become distant. One such family was the Rijnavak Clan, which would later be called House Rynavaka. A minor house aligned with House Lodovka, the Rynavakas controlled a parcel of land along the shores of Winterbreak Bay, and their clan subsisted mainly through fishing and sealing. The Rynavakas were proud of their Ulfen heritage and went to lengths to try to keep their bloodline "pure," though this often merely meant that they would marry with families with a few known Ulfen ancestors or visible Ulfen traits like tallness, fair hair and pale skin.

Asloga's Father

Njal Rynavaka was born some sixty years ago and was the third son of the head of the Rynavaka clan, Yarvak. A charming and capable warrior, but as the third some unlikely to inherit, when he came of age Njal decided to travel abroad and see the world. He traveled south and adventured for a time in the Inner Sea region, until he managed to land himself a position within the Ulfen Guard, the elite bodyguard of the King of Taldor.

Njal did well among the Ulfen Guard, and was popular with the other soldiers and the commanders of the formation, enough that he received a captured Qadiran slave woman as a "gift" from his commanders. Her name was Kalila, and Njal quickly fell in love with her. Though at first Njal considered Kalila to be his property, he soon realized that she was much more to him than that. He declared her free and asked to marry her. Kalila might have left were it not for the fact that she was already with child.

Childhood

Six months later, Asloga Rynavaka was born.

* Had the looks of her father but personality of her mother, and followed Sarenrae
* Trained in the Kitharodian Academy
* Left with father to return to Brevoy after the Vanishing
* Father's clan destroyed and father became an exile
* Moved out to the frontier east of Restov
* Recently acted as a herald, a go-between between nobles.

Appearance:

* Tall slender, pale, green eyes and bright red hair
* Hair seems to become brighter when she is angry or excited
* Wears colourful clothes where blue and gold feature prominently
* Carries a longspear on which is mounted a banner of her family, a blue and white quartered flag with the head of a firepelt cougar as its charge

Personality:

* Raised in Oppara and friends with the members of the Ulfen Guard, Asloga considers herself more Taldan and Ulfen than Brevic. Has little respect for Brevoy.
* Passionate and not afraid to speak her mind
* Does not consider herself to be a warrior but rather a diplomat and negotiator
* Admires things of civilization but appreciated rough and wild people

GM stuff:

* The stuff about the Kitharodian Academy in Oppara is mostly from the Faction Guide
* The Academy is a training ground for the Lion Blades, Taldor's intelligence agency, and Asloga is a member
* For the past few years she has been collecting 'dirt' on various Brevic nobles and sending reports to Oppara.
* This divided loyalty may make things interesting, though for the sake of the game Asloga needs to reconcile these loyalties somehow.
* I was inspired by the Feats Master Performer and Grand Master Performer Which both require membership in the Kitharodian academy and a certain amount of prestige points (which I'm not sure how that would work in this game).

Build Concept:
Asloga is intended primarily as a combat buffer. Her Flagbearer feat coupled with bardic performance makes a powerful boost, and with her longspear she could also make aid another attempts at a 10' range. She can also use thrown weapons though she won't do a lot of damage with them. There aren't many good 1st level buff spells but they get better as you improve in levels, and at higher levels that becomes her main strategy.

Her other focus will be knowledge skills which combined with good skill ranks and bardic knowledge will make her pretty good at identifying enemies.
