Advice for Converting PF to 5e
Dwarf | Barbarian 2 | Rage 2/2 | HD 2/2 | HP 6/25 | AC 15 | S6, D2, C5, I-1, W3, C1 | PP 15 | Status: Normal | Insp: Yes
I had a PC die in an AL game (pbp) I was running last winter. Pretty rare, but it happens. Sometimes the dice don't like you.
Although, this is the first pc death I've seen from excessive damage.
Dwarf | Barbarian 2 | Rage 2/2 | HD 2/2 | HP 6/25 | AC 15 | S6, D2, C5, I-1, W3, C1 | PP 15 | Status: Normal | Insp: Yes
All inspiration does is grant advantage, and I'd already have advantage from danger sense. It's ok. PCs die sometimes.
Just in case: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
See? He's destined to die. Lol
Dwarf | Barbarian 2 | Rage 2/2 | HD 2/2 | HP 6/25 | AC 15 | S6, D2, C5, I-1, W3, C1 | PP 15 | Status: Normal | Insp: Yes
Con Save: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17
4 damage.
May get advantage on the Dex saves for Danger Sense.
Dex Save: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 41d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
Dex Save: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 61d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13
Dex Save: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 111d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11
Dex Save: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 121d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19
If Danger Sense works, then that's 5d6 damage. Otherwise it's 6d6.
5d6 ⇒ (6, 6, 6, 3, 6) = 27
Extra d6?: 1d6 ⇒ 6
Even if Danger Sense works, that's enough damage to bring Odan to negative in his hit points, which is instant death.

Ok, whew. I thought I had it completely wrong for my own rogue in another game.
Dwarf | Barbarian 2 | Rage 2/2 | HD 2/2 | HP 6/25 | AC 15 | S6, D2, C5, I-1, W3, C1 | PP 15 | Status: Normal | Insp: Yes
Why does grapple prevent sneak attack? I'm still threatening it.
Dwarf | Barbarian 2 | Rage 2/2 | HD 2/2 | HP 6/25 | AC 15 | S6, D2, C5, I-1, W3, C1 | PP 15 | Status: Normal | Insp: Yes
Argh! Odan exclaims as he starts raging.
Bonus action to rage.
Escape!: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
Advantage: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22
Dwarf | Barbarian 2 | Rage 2/2 | HD 2/2 | HP 6/25 | AC 15 | S6, D2, C5, I-1, W3, C1 | PP 15 | Status: Normal | Insp: Yes
Trog, sorry. But pretty sure it's irrelevant with that roll.
Dwarf | Barbarian 2 | Rage 2/2 | HD 2/2 | HP 6/25 | AC 15 | S6, D2, C5, I-1, W3, C1 | PP 15 | Status: Normal | Insp: Yes
Odan launches a javelin, them charges with his axe.
Javelin: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 81d8 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
Dwarf | Barbarian 2 | Rage 2/2 | HD 2/2 | HP 6/25 | AC 15 | S6, D2, C5, I-1, W3, C1 | PP 15 | Status: Normal | Insp: Yes
Odan adjusts his grip on his axe handle. Yup. Let's go.
Dwarf | Barbarian 2 | Rage 2/2 | HD 2/2 | HP 6/25 | AC 15 | S6, D2, C5, I-1, W3, C1 | PP 15 | Status: Normal | Insp: Yes
Odan sheds a small tear for the little froggie, pulls up his britches a bit, and moves on.
Where there's a guard frog, there's a master. Let's be cautious.
Dwarf | Barbarian 2 | Rage 2/2 | HD 2/2 | HP 6/25 | AC 15 | S6, D2, C5, I-1, W3, C1 | PP 15 | Status: Normal | Insp: Yes
Well, damn, Odan says. As much as I like these critters, sometimes you gotta put them down.
Reckless Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 101d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24
Damage: 1d12 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
Dwarf | Barbarian 2 | Rage 2/2 | HD 2/2 | HP 6/25 | AC 15 | S6, D2, C5, I-1, W3, C1 | PP 15 | Status: Normal | Insp: Yes
Not wanting to harm the little beastie, Odan tries walking around it, while offering soothing words.
It's alright, little fellow.
Animal Handling: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17
Dwarf | Barbarian 2 | Rage 2/2 | HD 2/2 | HP 6/25 | AC 15 | S6, D2, C5, I-1, W3, C1 | PP 15 | Status: Normal | Insp: Yes
Seeing the collar, Odan looks around for the owner.

Odan heads for the door, ready to open it.
Dwarf | Barbarian 2 | Rage 2/2 | HD 2/2 | HP 6/25 | AC 15 | S6, D2, C5, I-1, W3, C1 | PP 15 | Status: Normal | Insp: Yes
We have not. Are you experienced in war? If not, I'd like you to stay in the back and out of danger, until we can get you back home. Grab any weapon you find here, that may serve better than a brick. Or take one if mine, any one.
Dwarf | Barbarian 2 | Rage 2/2 | HD 2/2 | HP 6/25 | AC 15 | S6, D2, C5, I-1, W3, C1 | PP 15 | Status: Normal | Insp: Yes
A prisoner? I was not expecting that. Who are you?
Dwarf | Barbarian 2 | Rage 2/2 | HD 2/2 | HP 6/25 | AC 15 | S6, D2, C5, I-1, W3, C1 | PP 15 | Status: Normal | Insp: Yes
Let's quickly and quietly open the door, sneak up on him. Odan whispers.
Dwarf | Barbarian 2 | Rage 2/2 | HD 2/2 | HP 6/25 | AC 15 | S6, D2, C5, I-1, W3, C1 | PP 15 | Status: Normal | Insp: Yes
Oh good, more things to test my mettle.
Odan runs up with his Battleaxe, attacking recklessly.
Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13
Adv: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24
Damage: 1d12 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15

Yup. Odan says confidently.
Then he heads into the room with the intention of killing them in their sleep.

I saw this: "All the furnishings have been piled up near the trapped door in a barricade." And thought you mean trapdoor - as in a little square door that leads downwards. Reading it again, and it's supposed to reference the door which was trapped. Seeing how there's nothing in the room, it's really confusing why that door was trapped at all.
Dwarf | Barbarian 2 | Rage 2/2 | HD 2/2 | HP 6/25 | AC 15 | S6, D2, C5, I-1, W3, C1 | PP 15 | Status: Normal | Insp: Yes
I bet there's something vicious down there. Who wants to find out?
Dwarf | Barbarian 2 | Rage 2/2 | HD 2/2 | HP 6/25 | AC 15 | S6, D2, C5, I-1, W3, C1 | PP 15 | Status: Normal | Insp: Yes
Sounds good to me, Odan says, and he heads downstairs to start dismantling the trap.
Dwarf | Barbarian 2 | Rage 2/2 | HD 2/2 | HP 6/25 | AC 15 | S6, D2, C5, I-1, W3, C1 | PP 15 | Status: Normal | Insp: Yes
Fine, fine. Have it your way. Let's go check the room with the trap.
Man, I'm torn between that and going with dwarven stubbornness; "I'll just have to look for myself, then!"
Dwarf | Barbarian 2 | Rage 2/2 | HD 2/2 | HP 6/25 | AC 15 | S6, D2, C5, I-1, W3, C1 | PP 15 | Status: Normal | Insp: Yes
Are there any valuables in there? Odan enquires.
Dwarf | Barbarian 2 | Rage 2/2 | HD 2/2 | HP 6/25 | AC 15 | S6, D2, C5, I-1, W3, C1 | PP 15 | Status: Normal | Insp: Yes
If it's medium size or smaller, yes.
You can always just increase the size.
Also, I'm really tempted to yell in game, "SEE ANYTHING IN THERE?" :)
Dwarf | Barbarian 2 | Rage 2/2 | HD 2/2 | HP 6/25 | AC 15 | S6, D2, C5, I-1, W3, C1 | PP 15 | Status: Normal | Insp: Yes
Hrmph, grumbles Odan.
Let's see what's around.
Odan takes a look at what can be looted.
Dwarf | Barbarian 2 | Rage 2/2 | HD 2/2 | HP 6/25 | AC 15 | S6, D2, C5, I-1, W3, C1 | PP 15 | Status: Normal | Insp: Yes
What's your policy on leveling while low on HP?
Dwarf | Barbarian 2 | Rage 2/2 | HD 2/2 | HP 6/25 | AC 15 | S6, D2, C5, I-1, W3, C1 | PP 15 | Status: Normal | Insp: Yes
Hack n slash doesn't bother me, I was just expecting it to be more than three fights. :)
Moving forward, I'm good with any of the options above.
Level 2 stuff:
Gain reckless attack
Gain danger sense
Gain 10 HP
Dwarf | Barbarian 2 | Rage 2/2 | HD 2/2 | HP 6/25 | AC 15 | S6, D2, C5, I-1, W3, C1 | PP 15 | Status: Normal | Insp: Yes
Odan attacks again!
Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18
damage: 1d12 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5

Ouch!
Odan strikes back at the flaming skeleton.
1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14
1d12 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
If the attack just enough to destroy it, then he'll stay to fight the second. If not, he'll move back into the stairwell.

Dwarf | Barbarian 2 | Rage 2/2 | HD 2/2 | HP 6/25 | AC 15 | S6, D2, C5, I-1, W3, C1 | PP 15 | Status: Normal | Insp: Yes
Odan kicks around the junk on the floor. This stuff ought to be good for a few pennies back in Absalom.
Well, which way?
Dwarf | Barbarian 2 | Rage 2/2 | HD 2/2 | HP 6/25 | AC 15 | S6, D2, C5, I-1, W3, C1 | PP 15 | Status: Normal | Insp: Yes
Odan bursts out laughing.
Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
Damage: 1d12 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
I'm not sure I can kill something that pathetic! he says, still laughing. Dear god, my sides are hurting!

There's no real knowledge checks in 5e like there are in PF. So it's up to the DM to determine who, if anyone, knows what about any given creature, or to pick a skill to use for information.
Int: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (1) - 1 = 0
Odan has absolutely no idea what these foul things are. He rushes headlong into them, axe held high.
Attack!: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16
Damage: 1d12 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
Dwarf | Barbarian 2 | Rage 2/2 | HD 2/2 | HP 6/25 | AC 15 | S6, D2, C5, I-1, W3, C1 | PP 15 | Status: Normal | Insp: Yes
With a grunt to himself, Odan tries to kick the door in.
Note: If anyone tries to stop him, he'll back down. Only use this roll if everyone is ok with it.
Strength (Athletics?): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19
Dwarf | Barbarian 2 | Rage 2/2 | HD 2/2 | HP 6/25 | AC 15 | S6, D2, C5, I-1, W3, C1 | PP 15 | Status: Normal | Insp: Yes
And give away our tactical advantage? Are you mad? Odan inquires in a rough whisper.
From there, he tries to open the door as quietly as he can.
Stealth: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20
Dwarf | Barbarian 2 | Rage 2/2 | HD 2/2 | HP 6/25 | AC 15 | S6, D2, C5, I-1, W3, C1 | PP 15 | Status: Normal | Insp: Yes
Odan waves the rest of the party over, and puts one finger over his mouth in the sign of Be Quiet.
Dwarf | Barbarian 2 | Rage 2/2 | HD 2/2 | HP 6/25 | AC 15 | S6, D2, C5, I-1, W3, C1 | PP 15 | Status: Normal | Insp: Yes
Odan, having the constitution of a ... erm ... Dwarf, moves in to find the source of the foul scent.
Dwarf | Barbarian 2 | Rage 2/2 | HD 2/2 | HP 6/25 | AC 15 | S6, D2, C5, I-1, W3, C1 | PP 15 | Status: Normal | Insp: Yes
Be free, my friend, Odan says as the critter runs away.
Dwarf | Barbarian 2 | Rage 2/2 | HD 2/2 | HP 6/25 | AC 15 | S6, D2, C5, I-1, W3, C1 | PP 15 | Status: Normal | Insp: Yes
Can Odan try?
I thank you, friend, for giving it a chance.
Odan takes out some dried meats, as well, and tosses it to the lizard.
Hey there, little beastie. Is all right. It was just a misunderstanding, that's all.
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24
Dwarf | Barbarian 2 | Rage 2/2 | HD 2/2 | HP 6/25 | AC 15 | S6, D2, C5, I-1, W3, C1 | PP 15 | Status: Normal | Insp: Yes
A bit more anger enters his voice than he'd like. Oadan can't help but wear his heart on his sleeve. Well! Be quick about it. We've already hurt the little guy; put him out of his misery.
Dwarf | Barbarian 2 | Rage 2/2 | HD 2/2 | HP 6/25 | AC 15 | S6, D2, C5, I-1, W3, C1 | PP 15 | Status: Normal | Insp: Yes
Now I feel guilty for skipping the attack. :(
Dwarf | Barbarian 2 | Rage 2/2 | HD 2/2 | HP 6/25 | AC 15 | S6, D2, C5, I-1, W3, C1 | PP 15 | Status: Normal | Insp: Yes
There's no penalty for firing into melee in 5e. However, if an ally is in the way and you don't have the sharpshooter feat, the enemy may have 1/2 or 3/4 cover.
Aw, it's just a little beastie, Odan says, visibly relaxing, while dropping his javelin arm. But as soon as his companions start shooting at it, his heart breaks. No! He shouts in his own mind.
As the "dust in the air" causes his eye to water, he asks, quietly, Why? He just wanted a little attention. Maybe a scratch behind the ears...
I've decided to make the dwarven "tough on the outside" barbarian have a soft spot for animals. Seemed like a fun juxtaposition.
Skipping Odans turn. I figure Seth will kill it before it has a turn. I'm trying to make Odan be very reluctant to attack animals - even magical ones.

Background: Folk Hero
Gloriana was raised in a small town, a tom boy, who loved to climb trees, throw rocks, wrestle, and fight. Father taught her how to hold a sword and shoot a bow. When she was 12, she fought off a wolf that attacked her and her sisters; at 14, she killed an Orc at 200 yards with one shot from her bow; at 17 she stood her ground when bandits rode in to raze the town, cutting down the lead rider with her sword. She is well loved by her neighbors and those who have known her since she was born.
When she sets her mind to something, she follows through.
She is honest to a fault; it does no good pretending to be something she's not.
One day, her town will be a prosperous city and a statue of her will be erected in the city square.
She is convinced her destiny is significant, and blind to her shortcomings and the risk of failure.
