He contemplates just making a break for it - wouldn't that provide a good distraction for everyone else? But Fran had told him not to draw any negative attention to himself if he could help it. There were too many feet here, he couldn't hide. What to do?
What cats and kittens do best, that's what!
Deciding to forgo hiding, Mr. Sunshine instead begins to try and charm his way across the room by being a model citizen - flashing big kitten eyes and breaking out the squeaky meows and absolutely not jumping on any of the furniture or trying to steal any of the delicious-smelling food.

Her scent is strange to me, Fran. Not the perfume but underneath that...it's like 'people' scent with something else mixed in. But she seems nice enough.

He'd seen the annoyance some of the priests had expressed at his presence and so he had no desire to tempt trouble by being underfoot or exploring his surroundings any more than necessary - especially in light of what Fran had learned from the birds a few days ago.
This feels like a prison, Fran. Please tell me we can leave soon?
