"Your master is dead, your fellow thralls defeated. It takes the stupid arrogance of a dragon to keep flailing about when you've so obviously lost." Vicious Mockery: dragon must make DC16 Wisdom save or take 2d4 ⇒ (2, 2) = 4 psychic damage and suffer disadvantage on his next attack before the end of its next turn. I'll also continue cooking the vampire, just in case he's thinking of making a comeback. Fourth round of concentration on heat metal: Heat Metal (bonus action): 6d8 ⇒ (4, 5, 7, 7, 7, 1) = 31
Male Human Bard (6) 18/45 HP |+2 Init|16AC|+9 Perc|+2Str +5Dex +1Con +1Int +3Wis +8Cha|
I'll follow the same strategy with Cutting Words. If the dragon hits me by 5 or less, I'll reduce its attack by 1d8. If it hits by more than that, I'll reduce the damage by 1d8. If I don't need to use it on the dragon's turn, I'll use it on any attack from Koriszegy.
Male Human Bard (6) 18/45 HP |+2 Init|16AC|+9 Perc|+2Str +5Dex +1Con +1Int +3Wis +8Cha|
Third round of concentarion on heat metal (4th level slot):
Mirrel continues burning the vampire, maneuvering as much as possible to get Koriszegy between him and the rest of the party before casting another spell. Dissonant Whispers with a third level slot: Vampire takes 5d6 ⇒ (4, 4, 4, 6, 5) = 23 psychic damage and must use its reaction to move as far away from me as its move allows. I'm hoping to ensure he runs in the general direction of the party and not out the door we came in. DC 16 Wis save for half damage and no move.
Male Human Bard (6) 18/45 HP |+2 Init|16AC|+9 Perc|+2Str +5Dex +1Con +1Int +3Wis +8Cha|
Cutting words: If the dragon hits me by 4 or less, I'll use my reaction to reduce his attack by 1d8. If he hits by 5 or more I'll reduce the damage by 1d8. If the skeletons that are hovering over Halsere attack me, I'll just take it (though I believe dodge applies to everyone). If I haven't used cutting words after the dragon's attack, I'll follow the same strategy on any attack from the vampire.
Male Human Bard (6) 18/45 HP |+2 Init|16AC|+9 Perc|+2Str +5Dex +1Con +1Int +3Wis +8Cha|
Mirrel looks back over his shoulder, slightly panicked as the dragon, skeletons and vampire surround him. "Hurry, Thyra!" he calls desperately as he tries to keep his attackers at bay. Dodge action - enemies have disadvantage on attacks against me until my next turn. Bonus action - vampire cooks in his armor. Second round of concentration on heat metal (4th level slot). Heat metal: 6d8 ⇒ (8, 3, 4, 4, 8, 5) = 32
Male Human Bard (6) 18/45 HP |+2 Init|16AC|+9 Perc|+2Str +5Dex +1Con +1Int +3Wis +8Cha|
Concentration: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5 Staggering under the savage attack, Mirrel loses focus on his magic and the blessing fades. Flanked by the vampire and dragon, he casts his most powerful spell. Heat metal at fourth level slot on Koriszegy's armor. First round of concentration. Heat Metal: 6d8 ⇒ (8, 6, 6, 1, 4, 4) = 29 damage and he must make a DC16 Constitution save or be forced to drop his armor if he can. If he doesn't drop it, he has disadvantage on his next attack before the start of my turn. I'll use cutting words if either of them hit me by five or less, reducing the attack roll by 1d8
Male Human Bard (6) 18/45 HP |+2 Init|16AC|+9 Perc|+2Str +5Dex +1Con +1Int +3Wis +8Cha|
Mirrel continues maintaining his bless spell whilst casting another. Second round of concentration on bless - all of us can add 1d4 to all attacks and saving throws. Cast see invisibility - can see invisible objects and into the ethereal plane for 1 hour (no concentration required). If I see the vampire about to do anything dramatic in a melee sense, I'll shout out any appropriate warning, but otherwise I won't yet draw attention to the fact I can see him.
Male Human Bard (6) 18/45 HP |+2 Init|16AC|+9 Perc|+2Str +5Dex +1Con +1Int +3Wis +8Cha|
Hi Jiggy - don't forget that bless grants everyone +1d4 on any saving throws. Not that it mattered here. Also, halsere - I don't think you need to stay within 30 feet of me. That's the range of the spell, so you have to be there when I cast it, but it isnt described as an aura (the way some other buff spells are) so I think that now we're all blessed, we stay blessed as long as I maintain concentration.
Male Human Bard (6) 18/45 HP |+2 Init|16AC|+9 Perc|+2Str +5Dex +1Con +1Int +3Wis +8Cha|
Mirrel blesses the party, before moving off to one side, remaining near the rear of the group. I'm presuming I can move in such a way that everyone is within 30 feet of me before casting bless - after that I'm trying to spread the party out a bit, whilst remaining near the back. If I can't catch everyone, I'll prioritise Thyra, Spidre, Pietro, Halsere. Third level bless - all of us can add 1d4 to any attack roll and 1d4 to any saving throw. First round of concentration.
Male Human Bard (6) 18/45 HP |+2 Init|16AC|+9 Perc|+2Str +5Dex +1Con +1Int +3Wis +8Cha|
Thyra Fireforge wrote: Yeah, I think we only get the +1d6 bonus once though right? Yep. Just the once, provided you spend at least one hit die. Hit Die: 1d8 + 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (2) + (1) + 1 = 4
Male Human Bard (6) 18/45 HP |+2 Init|16AC|+9 Perc|+2Str +5Dex +1Con +1Int +3Wis +8Cha|
"Steady, Thyra. Hold the line!” Mirrel backs back from the doorway to allow the fighters room to engage the armored corpse, blessing the party as he does so. Granting Thyra bardic inspiration die - 1d8 can be added to any attack or save in the next ten minutes. Can be used after seeing the roll. Cast bless - Thyra, Spidre and Halsere can add 1d4 to any attack roll or saving throw. 1st Round of Concentration
Male Human Bard (6) 18/45 HP |+2 Init|16AC|+9 Perc|+2Str +5Dex +1Con +1Int +3Wis +8Cha|
In order, let's try these three next: Dendrivus Teskovar, Kallifis Var, Lilac Thornbranch If we're quick and nothing jumps out at us we should be able to open all of those whilst Halsere keeps his detect magic up. If we see nothing in any of them, I guess we'll have to choose whether to open some caskets or try the third wing.
Male Human Bard (6) 18/45 HP |+2 Init|16AC|+9 Perc|+2Str +5Dex +1Con +1Int +3Wis +8Cha|
Mirrel spends ten minutes reading the nameplates and remembering what stories he can of the people buried here. History: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15
"I don't know Telia Sen or Kallifis Var but the rest are familiar to me. A philanthropist, famous fencer - rumored to have been having an affair with the princess. No doubt the reason they sought one another out in death....Ella Barston was a bard...Next a war hero, famous smith, a ranger and royal advisor...and finally a hero of the people." "Once Halsere has examined this chamber we should try Dendrivus Teskovar's tomb next. He was renowned for producing magical weapons - the spear we're looking for could have been buried with him if he was responsible for forging it." "Lilac Thornbranch was a ranger who fought against Koriszegy the first time he was a threat. Perhaps he was interred with relics used in the fight against him? I'd suggest trying there third."
Male Human Bard (6) 18/45 HP |+2 Init|16AC|+9 Perc|+2Str +5Dex +1Con +1Int +3Wis +8Cha|
History: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12
"I recognise the name of Burg Gallavan too. And San Tellik - he was a hero of the people - didn't even like the royal family much as I remember but he was interred here anyhow." Do we have any knowledge about who made the chalice or spear we're looking for? If so can we scan the rest of the doors and see if we see their names anywhere?

"Let's press on if we can. The duke doesn't have long." Mirrel returns to the hallway and begins brushing off the dust and cobwebs from the plaques above each doorway, looking for any clue which might jump out. Ill also be looking for traps in front of each door as I go ,which I can do at full speed via the dungeon delver feat.

Mirrel casts healing word on Thyra, before continuing to taunt the skeleton. Thyra gains Healing Word: 3d4 + 5 ⇒ (4, 4, 3) + 5 = 16 hit points. Skeleton must make DC16 Wis save or take Vicious Mockery: 2d4 ⇒ (3, 1) = 4 psychic damage and suffer disadvantage on its next attack.

It he target must be able to hear me (but doesn't need to understand me). I'll add that in in a tick. My first thought was that things like this are covered via immunities in 5E. However, looking over the MM, very few things have immunity to psychic damage (even oozes and such aren't immune or resistant). As written, it seems like being deaf is the only real defence to it (or silencing me). I'll look around for any general comments outside of the specific spell..

"Hold the line, Thyra! This collection of bones will be no match for your dwarven steel. Casting vicious mockery and granting bardic inspiration as a bonus action. Corpse in armor must make a DC16 wisdom save or take 2d4 ⇒ (2, 1) = 3 psychic damage and suffer disadvantage on its next attack Thyra has a d8 bardic inspiration die to use in the next ten minutes. "Let's stay focussed on the goal - that ornate door at the end has to be the place to start." Let's distribute the spears amongst those of us who might potentially use them (ie one each to everyone but Halsere), just in case...

Just going into twenty six hours of transit followed by a couple of days of manic work catching up after a vaction. Probably won't be able to post much until the weekend. Would you mind botting me, Jiggy? This will be my last period of intermittent posting on the messageboards for the next several months.
Male Human Bard (6) 18/45 HP |+2 Init|16AC|+9 Perc|+2Str +5Dex +1Con +1Int +3Wis +8Cha|
Mirrel steps back hoping to make space for Spidre to reenter the fray, casting a healing spell as he does so. Withdraw as an action. Cast healing word on Spidre as a bonus action (2nd level slot) Healing Word: 2d4 + 5 ⇒ (1, 3) + 5 = 9

Mirrel swings his sword with both hands, striking the one Thyra hit if possible. Magic Longsword (2H): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7,Damage: 1d10 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5

Thanks for botting me, Jiggy. I'm getting the odd moment on the cell phone but I'm not great at typing on it and I don't get lots of time for creative thought. That might persist for another week or so, I'm afraid. Please feel free to move me along as necessary.

Mirrel steps up beside Thyra and Spidre, casting heroism on all three of them to annul the magical fear. Heroism (3rd slot) - willing touched creature gains 4 temp hp at the start of each round and is immune to being frightened. Spidre, Thyra and Mirrel all gain 4 temp hp at the start of each round are are immune to being frightened. First round of concentration

Leaving for Paizocon tomorrow. That means a mad final twelve hours of work and about twenty six hours in transit. :/ We're in the US for a few weeks and it should be easy enough to post while there, but I might be quiet for the next couple of days. Luckily you guys seem to be able to kill things just fine without me. :)

Not a lot, I'm afraid. I make it 234 gp, so that's 46 gold and 8 silver each. We do have a +1 rapier and +1 full plate, plus whatever Halsere didnt need of the spellbook. Can we trade those for other items? Alternatively we can sell them (for 2100gp + whateverthespellbookisworth).
