I'm working on a build for a Fighter who fights with a bastard sword in one hand and a crossbow in his other. I want to make sure I understand how some of the different Two Weapon Fighting feats work with ranged weapons.

Double Slice
Prerequisite: Dex 15, Two-Weapon Fighting.

Benefit: Add your Strength bonus to damage rolls made with your off-hand weapon.

Normal: You normally add only half of your Strength modifier to damage rolls made with a weapon wielded in your off-hand.

Two Weapon Rend

Prerequisites: Dex 17, Double Slice, Improved Two-Weapon Fighting, Two-Weapon Fighting, base attack bonus +11.

Benefit: If you hit an opponent with both your primary hand and your off-hand weapon, you deal an additional 1d10 points of damage plus 1-1/2 times your Strength modifier. You can only deal this additional damage once each round.

Two Weapon Defense

Prerequisites: Dex 15, Two-Weapon Fighting.

Benefit: When wielding a double weapon or two weapons (not including natural weapons or unarmed strikes), you gain a +1 shield bonus to your AC.

When you are fighting defensively or using the total defense action, this shield bonus increases to +2.

Double Slice doesn't specify melee weapons, so a rules lawyer might be able to say that it adds Str damage to a ranged weapon. I'm pretty sure that's against the spirit, but I would like to know for sure just in case there's another weird case that acts in a similar way. Two Weapon Rend seems like it should work, but still feels a little off. I suppose it could be flavored that the ranged attack works as a distraction to get an extra hit off with the melee weapon. Two Weapon Defense also seems like it should work.

I realize that the crux of the issue is that all of these feats were written before the Sword and Pistol feat so they didn't have to clarify whether they only worked with melee weapons or not. Is there any general rule of thumb for situations like this beyond ask the DM? DM in question is fairly new.

Our story starts in a tavern.

No, wait. That's not right.

Our story actually starts at my place of work. My wife sent me a text saying a friend is looking to start playing D&D and would like to know if I want to DM. Always up for a game, I said, "Of course. Do you have a time in mind?"

"How about when you get home?" she said.

"Yeah, sure. I'll come up with something on my way home." We were getting ready to close at this point, so I immediately start going through what kind of adventure I could come up with off the top of my head and what stats would be easy to either look up or make up. Since we have a new player, I decide that we need to start at first level and I know most of the early bestiary low level threats by heart.

So I get home and assist in character generation. We decide on playing PF1, and I'm going to take it slow. Core Rulebook only at this point in time. My wife is a gnome druid named Bree. The friend is a halfling rogue named Sera. Both are chaotic neutral, and neither care about alignment in the slightest. I bring in an NPC Fighter and a Sorcerer from the NPC Codex to round out the party. At this point, I'm going to use the character names to talk about the players.

Now, the campaign proper starts in a tavern. Nice and simple, right? The characters are relative strangers from a small town. They know each other by name and reputation, but they aren't really more than acquaintances at this point. Bringing them all together is a new help wanted poster. A traveling merchant had his caravan suffer a kobold attack and many of his goods were taken. The most prized of the stolen wares is a group of large, black stones. He is willing to pay the party 100gp each in return for stones.

"Eggs," interrupts Sera. "You said eggs that time not stones. Does that mean the merchant slipped up in the conversation too? Was he really transporting some kind of large animal eggs?"

Apparently, my narration skills have gotten rusty from only playing on PBP for a few years and in a fit of crossed wires I had told the party what they were actually going to retrieve instead of what they were only supposed to retrieve, and now it's time to roll with the punches. The players have decided that their quest giver can't really be trusted, and they start grilling him for information on what kind of eggs he we was transporting, the prices of the eggs, how long until they hatch, typical questions. They learn that the eggs are black dragon eggs. They are very valuable and were going to be sold in a black market in the closest city. The players at first think that maybe they should just take the eggs to sell themselves, but quickly realize that they don't have the right contacts, and will take the gold offered. Well, Sera does. Bree has decided that she wants one as a pet and starts making a checklist of things she would potentially need to make a baby dragon not want to eat her upon seeing her, I'm not giving her any help with that, by the way, her list is all her own guesswork.
The conversation with the merchant ends with them getting assistance from his personal guard for the raid on the kobold den and some weak poisons.

Hey everyone. I’m very excited to play with you.

For future reference, what do your characters want to do for a living besides be a superhero? What are your civilian goals?

It has been a month since the fall of the heroes. Since the massive, coordinated attack, now called Doomsday by the media, superhuman activity has diminished. The heroes that weren’t killed or captured have been laying low. Even the super villains have kept out of sight in fear of being next. In the meantime, a kind of uneasy peace has settled on most of the world, and no one can shake the feeling that they are living in the eye of the storm.

On the morning of April 5th, 2031, in the rundown slums of Boston, Valerie Tepes is woken by the sounds of angry shouts from beneath her bedroom. Her bedroom is barely lit from the small window in her safehouse bedroom. The light outside is dull and gray, and she can hear the patter of rainfall on the glass. She can make out some of the conversation. It sounds like her father is arguing with someone over the phone about money. It was always about money, even more so since Doomsday. Her family was deep in super crime, but their usual strategy involved capturing superhumans so that Siphon could replicate their powers. Something that becomes much harder when all the superhumans go into hiding. As such, Valerie hadn’t had much work in the last month, and her parents income had slowed to a trickle.

In a neighborhood not so far away, Baxter Bellinger is woken by similar angry voices, though these are in a familiar Japanese tongue and accompanied by hard knocking at his bedroom door. The same gray daylight pours in through the small cracks of the blinds. He can feel the humidity from the dreary weather in the air of his room.

John Graves is looking over the last bits of a presentation in his small, studio apartment. About a week ago, John had been talking with one of his professors. The teacher was impressed with his work and wanted him to give a small lecture to a group of high school students in an extremely high-level science program. The kind of program that most doctors would struggle with. John, being fairly advanced himself, was the perfect choice to give a guest lecture, according to the professor. Despite the lecture taking place on a weekend, John was assured that these students were very hard working and dedicated to the program.

Samuel Adams is woken with a start as his mother starts banging on his door. ”You’re not going to sleep all day,” she says. ”Your dad needs help cleaning the garage. Lickety split.” She gives his door one last bump before heading to other parts of the house.

Gwen Jones is awoken by her unusually mundane alarm clock. In a house of mystical talismans to fulfill any number of chores and jobs, the electronic device could be considered a bit of an oddity. The first thing to greet her was her family picture. The last family picture before the disappearance of her mother. It depicted her, her mom, and her dad waving at the viewer. They seemed to be talking among themselves, but there was no sound.

Tyler Davidson is woken up by his fiancé’s alarm clock in the one bedroom apartment he shared with her near their university campus. She was dressing in a basic red polo and jeans for her shift at the university bookstore. “What do you want to do after my shift?” she asks. ”I was thinking we could order pizza from Mario’s and find a movie on Netflix.”

Sixty years ago, the first superhumans emerged. While some of them used their unnatural powers for selfish gain, others banded together to give a sense of normalcy back to the everyday people. Nearly every country in the world has their own group of heroes to protect their citizens. Some of these groups are backed by governments. Others are prone to defy authority. But all of them work to keep the planet safe. Or at least they did.

In an event known only as Doomsday, all of the superheroes were killed or captured in a single fell swoop. Those that survived went into hiding. Some believe that the remains heroes are simply regrouping to combat a new threat, but the prevailing theory is that something got the better of them. What worries everyone the most is that no villain, no organization, no one at all, has come forward to take credit for the attacks. Supervillain activity in general has quieted down as if they are waiting for the other show to drop. But they will not stay quiet for long. Evil will soon become restless and step forward once again.

I’m looking for a group of five or six people to run a superhero campaign in the vein of “Justice League Tower of Babel.” Characters are going to start at PL6 and 90 character points. In backgrounds, I’m mostly going to be looking for four things: how you discovered your powers, your motivation for becoming a hero, whether you have done any superhero work up to this point, and how you reacted to the loss of the known heroes.

I’m going to keep recruitment open for a couple of weeks to see how much interest this gets. I look forward to gaming with you.

Since this didn't get answered in the recruitment thread, I'll ask it here. How do you all like to handle maps in PBPs?

The sun is shining brightly upon the birthday celebration for Prince Zoran. All the past week, merchant vendors and noble guests have been filling up the docks of the Celestia's port for the party where the young prince finally comes of age. You start to get out of bed as the people in the city begin to file out of their homes and towards the castle.

Alcott-As you awaken within the barracks on the castle grounds, there is a knock at your chamber doors followed by a voice saying that a meeting of the guardsman who will be attending the prince during his celebration entrance will be meeting in the main hall in an hour.

Orran-You awaken aboard the ship your tribe's delegation came in on. The other warriors on board are all ready boasting about how they'll best any of the formal knights during the tournament at the celebration. They are getting their gear ready and will disembark shortly.

Vianna-You awaken alone in a cabin aboard a small boat hired by your mother. With her never remarrying, the two of you have fallen on hard times and the family's wealth has near reached the breaking point. She has sent you to Celestia to court a young nobleman to marry into his wealth and preserve the family line.

Aelwulf, Jak, and Pikpok-In the slums docks of the shadow bridge, you wake up in one of the few taverns your meager supply of coin could provide. The rooms are swollen to capacity and all you could afford was a spot on the floor by the fireplace. The dining area is becoming flooded with patrons waking up for breakfast. They begin crowding the small breakfast spread.

Orion-You wake up in the room above your small tattoo shop in the West Town district, just outside the gates of the city proper. There are already crowds of people passing by the entrance to your shop.

It is the day of Prince Zoran's birthday, and many of the country's elite have gathered together in celebration in Celestia, capital city of Thethambia. Amid the food stalls and trinket vendors that have set up shop on the grounds outside the castle, the prince himself appears on a balcony overlooking the festivities. On his command, trumpets quiet the cacophony of noise beneath him. However, just as he is about to speak, the ground starts to shake. A bright, red light erupts from the ground beneath the castle as the earth crumbles underneath the structure. Shouts and screams fill the air as the whole of the royal household is swallowed up by a massive fissure, replaced only by a giant staircase that extends into the darkness of the earth. As the ground settles, so too does the crowd, and for a few precious moments, there is silence as everyone begins to make sense of the situation. Then, a sound like rolling thunder makes its way up the steps. It's as if hundreds of drums were all being beaten in perfect unison. Finally, men begin to take shape amidst the darkness. They are wearing armored uniforms of a strange design and colorful masks and helmets that reveal no skin. An seemingly endless number of them are all marching up the many storied staircase. That's when the panic sets in around you.

This is a homebrew campaign of my own creation. The premise is that the players are front and center when the "Sealed Evil in a Can" breaks free. Unable to fight an entire army emerging right beneath their feet, the players are tasked with getting as many people to safety as they possibly can and leading them to shelter to warn the other cities of the impending threat. From their, they will work to battle one of the greatest armies the world has ever known. Be prepared for court intrigue to unite the different lords who are feuding for power in the vacuum created by the loss of the royal family, guerilla style battles to wear down massive forces no one is prepared to confront directly, and finally build an army that legends will sing about for ten thousands years.

Recruitment guidelines
-Looking for 6 pcs
-Start at level 1
-All Paizo 1e Core with splatbooks and 3rd party by request
-Roll 4d6 or 20pt buy
-Maximum hp at level 1, average for every level after.
-Maximum wealth for level
-Three traits, but no drawbacks for a fourth
-I will be posting once a day
-Recruitment will end next Tuesday. Feb 11

In a home brew adventure I’m writing, the big bad is going to wake up right under to player’s feet, complete with construct army. Of course, the players won’t be able to fight the big bad, so the first adventure will be about the players getting the civilians out of the city while the npcs engage in a suicide mission of holding the main forces off.

What I’m looking for are ways to really capture the chaos and panic of such a situation and break it down into ways for the players to manage the panicked civilians and get them out of danger.

It looks like the two most recent threads in that forum are trying to sell forms of ID like driver's licenses and passports. Probably trying to collect personal information for fraud purposes.

I’ve started a new project of turning the original 151 pokemon into Monsters for use with The Pathfinder 1st edition. I’ve gotten Bulbasaur’s stats up and will start work on Ivysaur later today.

Here is a link to a word document if anyone is interested in looking at them for one of their home games. The Japanese names are in parentheses just in case you don’t want to use the not fantasy sounding at all Wnglish names.

It is the dead of winter in the cold lands ruled by the barbaric Linnorm Kings, and despite your bodies knowing that is morning, darkness retains its grip on the heavens. You won't see the sun for a few more hours, and it will only remain for a little while, as is common this time of year. Despite the lack of daylight, the village begins its daily routine. The village warriors begin their training routines, the blacksmiths of Torag light their forges, and the merchants begin opening up their shops.

Give me a little bit of how your day opens up, everyone.

It took me longer than I wanted to get the gameplay thread up today. Sorry about that. Somehow, I lost the forum headline. Go figure.

In the cold lands of the Linnorm Kings, a quaint little village lays isolated among the away from the warring, barbaric lords. The locals call it Northlight, The last settlement before the Crown of the World. Its small size and distant location has protected it from constant plunder. But no longer. Darkness stirs in the wilds of the eternally ice ridden landscape. A presence as cold and unforgiving as the dead of winter itself looms on the horizon. This is the Plight of Northlight.

I’m looking to start a home brew campaign for the first edition of Pathfinder. I hope to get 4-5 players. You will begin the game as 1st level characters who have lived most, if not all, of their lives in Northlight, an isolated village in the Northern areas of Golarion. The campaign will focus on a the awakening of a powerful, wintery menace from the Crown of the World. Gameplay will hopefully go up to 18 at least. There are no plans for mythic characters.

Characters can pick from all of the Paizo hardcovers with splatbooks and third party subject to approval.
Stats will be on 4d6 take the highest 3 or 20pt buy if you roll badly.
Two traits, possible drawback for third trait
Equipment will be average for class.

I look for to seeing who is interested

Not really sure to put this, so I'm putting it here.

What do you all think is the approximate reading level of the Pathfinder 1e Core Rulebook or any of the core books, actually. It came up in conversation with some friends.

I'm starting a new Rise of the Runelords game over on Roll20 as the GM, but as I only have three players, I figured they could use a DMPC. I asked them what I should bring to help them out, and they decided that I should make a cleric, bring a greatsword, and SMASH FACE! So here it goes:

Ancrym Ironmonger is a Shoanti that became a devout worshipper Gorum, god of battle. His goal is to become strong enough to lead his Shoanti brethren in a war to drive out the Chelish colonists. In his quest to grow strong, he takes work as a guard for a Varisian caravan that happens to be heading to Sandpoint for the Swallowtail Festival because big parties bring big money, and he figures he can find some more work in the town.

My main goal is to serve as the party's strongman. He can support them before the fight and after the fight, but once battle is joined, his goal is the letting of blood. The rest of the party are a half orc Dragonblood Chymist Alchemist, a human Gunsmoke Mystic from POW, and a standard half elf witch.

Ancrym Ironmonger
Male Human Cleric of Gorum
CN Medium Humanoid (human)
Init +2; Perception +2

Defenses
AC 18 (6 armor, 2 dex)
HP 11
Fort +4, Ref +2, Will +4

Offenses
Speed 30ft
Melee Greatsword +3 (2d6+4)
Spells CL 1 DC12
1 (2/day+1 Domain)
0 (3/day)

Statistics
Str 17, Dex 14, Con 14, Int 8, Wis 15, Cha 8
Base Attack 0; CMB +3; CMD 15
Feats Heavy Armor Proficiency, Combat Casting
Skills Knowledge (religion) +3, Spellcraft +3
Traits Strong Hearted (+1 Will vs Fear; +2 vs Intimidate), Latent Psion (+1 save vs mind effecting)
Languages Common

Special
Skilled +1 skill point vs level
Channel Energy-Standard Action; 2/day; heal all living creatures within 30ft for 1d6 health.
Aura of Chaos-Faint aura of chaos
Strength Surge-Standard Action; 5/day; give an ally a +1 to attacks, Strength skills, and Strength checks
Touch of Chaos-Standard Action 5/day; Touch Attack; Target must roll twice for all d20 rolls and take the worse result.

I'm going to be picking up a Wand of Cure Light Wounds as soon as possible to share healing duties with the witch. The alchemist is going to be a frontliner once his natural attacks come online, but I'll be the main frontliner for the first level. The gunsmoke mystic will be our ranged combatant.

Here's what I have so far for feat progression
3rd-Deific Obedience
5th Power Attack
7th Ironmaster
9th Furious Focus
These are subject to change if I think Power Attack will make me miss too much. If it looks like my first attack is the only one that reasonably connects, I can go for the Vital Strike line, but I'm not quite sure how this is going to play out. Any suggestions will be welcome.

Hey, Paizo players. I’ve run a few games here on the boards, and they’ve all died due to a lack of energy in the group. I think what gets me is when their is a section of erupts role Playing between the players and rather than squash their effort, I end up waiting to long to move the action. I’m trying to keep my current games flowing, but am finding myself getting stuck at points where I don’t want to cut interaction short, but still need to move the story along.

I was just informed by some players that I recently recruited for a pbp game that they can’t post in the actual gameplay thread. They said it was because they weren’t listed as a player. I’ve never had this happen before and am not sure how to fix it. I’ll try to get them to post here to give a better picture of what they encountered.

The village of Ram has always been a quiet, little town. Secluded as it is within the Southern mountains, the politics of the larger Sophian Kingdom have had little effect on the community. Even when the Druman hordes came down from the north to attack the border territories and the Sophian Royal Family put out a call for all able bodied men to join the fight, no one came to take the eligible boys in for training. The only contact Ram has with the outside world is the news brought by the occasional merchant caravans. They usually bring with them new gossip of the royal family and the knights that serve them, but when asked about the war, they only say that the fighting goes poorly. And you have begun to feel the effects. Refugees fleeing the fighting have come as far south as they can to build new lives. While many of them have simply set up new shops or farms in new homes, some have been unable to find work and have become forced to live lives as outlaws, forming roaming bandit gangs that prey on the caravansvthat your village needs for their supplies. Constant attacks have made merchant trip to your village even more rare, and as it is you haven’t had a visit in months.

The sun rises above the mountain tops on a clear, spring day. The villagers go about their daily routine.

I would like everyone to give me a bit of your morning routine, whether it be training, exploring, or chores.

Hey all, I’m looking to recruit a group of five players for a war story pathfinder game. The players will start in a small village, but quickly be recruited by a group of revolutionary soldiers who are looking to free the kingdom from the rule of a foreign tyrant. The game will look to explore themes of the greater good vs individual good, violence for the right means, and other shades of grey.

The game will be a medium magic campaign. Spellcasters are considered odd, but not unheard of. Even small villages usually have a gifted individual or two in their midsts. The gods are divided into two pantheons. The first pantheon comprises the gods of peace and knowledge. They govern the southern lands where large cities and mild weather has allowed the people to become enlightened and pacifistic. The second panthers is formed by the northern war gods. The people of the north are a harsh breed where the rule of law is rule by strength. They have recently taken advantage of the southern niceties and launched in invasion into the heart of the Southern Kingdom.

To emphasize the difference in culture, the cleric class is going to be split into two classes that each worship one of the pantheons rather than individual gods. The white priests of the South get two domains, ninth level spellcasting, simple weapon proficiency, no armor proficiency, d6 HD, 1/2 BAB, and always channel positive energy regardless of alignment. The red zealots of the North get one domain, ninth level spellcasting, martial weapon proficiency, medium armor proficiency, d8HD, 3/4 BAB, and always channel negative energy regardless of alignment. Paladins are not disallowed, but if someone wants to play one, I would want to work with the player to create a more appropriate code of conduct. Druids, Shamans, and other nature based casters fall outside the normal worshiping system as they draw power from local spirits. As such, they are mistrusted among most common folk.

Rules for character creation.
-Starting Level 1
-Roll 4d6 drop lowest for stats. If you don’t like your scores, you may have a 20 point buy.
-All Core Line plus Dreamscarred’s Path of War is allowed. Approval required for splat books or other 3rd party. I’m saying no to psionics in advance.
-I’m going to use the Background skills system.
-2 traits with drawback allowed for a third trait.

Now that my homebrew pbp is back on track (kind of), I can go back to using my notes for that campaign.

So, while I wait for them to go off the rails again, I'm going to start work on my next project, an extensive conversion of the Strange Aeons AP to the Starfinder universe.

This thread is going to be my progress journal/feedback area because I am more likely to continue working on something if I can share it as it's being worked on. As I post things here, feel free to comment on it and provide your own input.

First things first, I want to have the game start on a mysterious spaceship instead of an asylum. Is there a place where I can get a starship map? I'm terrible at map making.

Second, while traits have always been a big part of pathfinder APs, starfinder doesn't have them. Instead, I'm going to provide a couple of new themes for the players to choose from.

Third, I can't wait for Alien Archive to come out. Does first contact have monster creation rules?

I don't expect to play this campaign until either my Iron Gods game or my homebrew game have wrapped up, so it'll be a while.

You are awoken on Monday, December 11 of 4717, shivering in the morning that has crept into your sleeping chambers. The sun has not yet crept above the horizon, but it's light has brought the sky to a deep, starless blue. There appear to be no clouds or storms in sight.

Jasper is woken by his adopted family's morning stirrings. His mother begins to prepare breakfast for the inn guests while his brother gets readybfor a day in the mines.

Kurt Iron wakes up in an outhouse attatched to the inn. He works as the inn's stablehand and gets ready with the rest of the inn.

Keve Shadler wakes up among the gears and tools of his father's workshop, realizing he had fallen asleep while working again. He dutifully gets back to repairing miner's axes and fixing cart wheels.

Agrimar and Cyrene wake chained tobeach other. There clothes are torn and muscles sore from days of traveling with little rest. What rest they have gotten was on rocky ground or the rough splintery floor of the covered slaver's wagon. They hear a shout from the feont of the wagon. "Wake up, filth. We'll be in Mulberry by Sunrise." Wanting to avoid the slaver's whips and clubs, they oblige.

According to legend, the multiverse was brought into being from the ever-shifting mass of form that is Limbo. It is still connected to everything. Land, people, magic, even the material of souls is comprised of intricately woven tendrils of the Great Material. That same legend also states that at the end of everything, Limbo will absorb all of its material back into itself so that the multiverse can be created anew.

However, there is a group of people who have come to believe that this version of the multiverse is a failed symphony of concepts that should be aborted. They seek to unravel the Great Material that holds the everything together, and in the process, create a new and perfect everything. They call themselves the Cult of Unwinding.

Become part of a group of heroes that battles all manner of threats across the multiverse to uncover and stop the Cult of Winding from carrying out the premature death of everything.

This is a homebrew game that I’ve been working on for a while. I hope the blurb gets at least some people interested. I’m looking for a group of four or five to run through this high fantasy adventure. You will be challenged by an assortment of threats though most will be of the Chaotic, and or Evil, variety. The adventure will start at level one, and if it reaches its grand finale, will end at 20/10.

Here are the character creation rules.
-Roll 5d6 and drop the 2 lowest for your stats. If on the off chance that you don’t roll well or otherwise don’t like your stats, you can default to a 25pt buy.
-All of Paizo races are available as are all of Paizo’s classes.
-All alignments are allowed, but any evil character must be of the “play nice” variety. You’re trying to have your life erased from existence after all.
-2 traits; No campaign traits.
-I’m going to use the background skills system
-Max starting wealth for your class

I hope for a good number of applicants who are excited and ready to play.

I like to play tabletop miniature games, specifically Warmachine and Warhammer (not so much 40k), but I also like to just paint the miniatures and every so often I get the urge to paint a miniature for a character concept I've come up with.

In this case, I've been working on a character sheet for an Air Sorcerer from a tropical island. I don't have a game for this character, but there is a short story attached. Problem is, I can't find a model to portray him and I really want to give him a look beyond paper. I'm thinking some kind of tribal shaman or warchief from a jungle. Humanish.

I know there are people here who are more knowledgeable about the minis market than I am. Could any of you give me a hand?

The five of you meet together at the southern entrance to the town of Torch. Originally, you volunteered to search for the answer to the disappearance of the town's signature violet flame that once burned atop Black Hill. However, you are not the first to do so. In fact, none of the teams who went searching ever returned. Among the lost was a man by the name of Khonnir Baine, town councilman, wizard, and scholar in the mysterious artifacts scattered across Numeria. So worry some is his loss that the town council has pulled together a cash reward for anyone who can bring him back safely.

It is said that he made some discoveries about Black Hill prior to his disappearance and that the town council knows about of the things he encountered.

He also has a young daughter who helps him run his tavern. It's closed now, but she keeps an open offer out that anyone searching for her father can use it as a resting place.

And then, there is Black Hill, itself. Named for the charred landscape that covers the hilltop, Black Hill is where Torch's magnificent violet flame once stood. It was hot enough to smelt even the mysterious Starmetal, yet the heat was strangely concentrated so that a person standing next to it wouldn't be incinerated by the heat, save for the fires mysterious flare ups. However, these flare ups were always preceded by a kind of pulsing light on the fire's part and served as a notice for anyone using the flame to clear out, so there was little loss of life from the flames.

Without Torch's torch, the town is in trouble. It was the center of the town's economic structure. No longer will they be able to lure smiths from far away lands. Without the tourism, they won't be able to pay the Technic League's outrageous taxes. Even waste disposal was run through the flames to be completely incinerated, and now the bags of garbage cover the streets.

I think that this pbp is the last refuge of my sanity. Wrapped my car around around a telephone pole Monday night. No one was hurt, but my car was totaled. The only way for me to buy a new one is for my fiance and I to cancel our wedding and get some of that money back.

Also, finals in college coming up.

So yeah, I'm here to stay.

Trouble has befallen the Numerian community of Torch, a small town that has long been a hotspot for wandering smiths and experimenters. Named for the large bonfire of purple flame that sits atop a heat-blackened hill, the town opened it's fires up to anyone who wanted to use it, an attractive prospect considering it is one of the few things hot enough to forge the skymetal strewn across Numeria. However, the fire has recently gone out.

A man by the name of Khonnin Baine went below ground, thinking the fire was coming from caves beneath the town and that he could restore the flame. However, he has not returned. Torch called for outside adventurers to find him and restore their fire. Four groups have answered. None have returned. You are the latest group to respond, determined to prevail where all others have failed.

I tried running this game about a year ago and it got off to a strong start, but fizzled out after we took a month hiatus. I want to start it up again with a lot of the same rules applying.
-I want 4 or 5 players and considering the quality of the submissions last time, it'll probably be 5.

Hey all, I'm looking to replace a member of my pbp Iron Gods campaign. We're still in the first book, having just beaten Jezvit and his greedy gang of gremlins. The rest of the group seems pretty dedicated to getting through the game. We've even survived a month long hiatus.

Just looking for one character at the moment, so why don't you give recruitment your best shot.

-Maximum starting gold for your class to make up for the fact that you haven't grabbed any of the gear the rest of the party has.
-Not sure how long I'm going to keep recruitment open for yet. Probably not more than a week.
-I am available to post most days between 9am-1pm Eastern Standard Time, and will try to post at least once a day, not including weekends.
-The rest of the party is consists of a Human Techslinger whose deeds are themed as coming from a mechanical arm, a Half Elf Unchained Summoner with a mechanical themed Inevitable Eidolon, and a Human looking Mesmerist whose true identity has yet to be revealed.

Looking forward to seeing the suggestions.

EDIT: If you want to check out how the game has progressed, you can find it here

I'm building a fire themed paladin and I'm wondering if this archetype is any good.

Righteous Flame Acolyte

Also, I have some questions. If I just use the basic version of the Righteous Flame ability at a high level, could I spend two uses to get the fire damage on all my attacks in a full round or does it only work with one? Can I spend 3 uses to get the fire damage on my weapon in addition to the touch attack? Can I make iteratives with the touch attack?

Hey all, I've been working on a campaign idea that I've had for a little bit. Don't have a group for it, but that's okay. Gives me time to work. Maybe I'll put it up as a play by post if I get it far enough along and still don't have a group.

The premise is a "You were framed" kind of adventure where several good and neutral characters are framed for diffetent crimes and must work together to clear their names. Not sure what level range, but fairly high, high enough for the mystery to go several layers deep.

Anyway, my question to you all is this: What kind of crimes could you frame a good party for? They would need to be serious enough for high or even lethal consequences and get most of their friends to disown them. Really, it's the divine classes giving me trouble. For example, what can you frame a paladin for without them falling, and since they didn't fall, the order realizes that they didn't do it. Same applies for the other divine classes too. And just suggestions in general.

Any ideas?

An iron gods play by post just lost our cleric and we need a replacement. The party comp so far is a Foehammer Fighter, an Aasimar Techslinger, a Tiefling Rogue with the Alchemist VMC, and a Kitsune Mesmerist. Preferably we could use someone with low level healing magic as the dice have been particularly ruthless against the party.
Guidelines

-All core books allowed plus People of the River, People of the Stars, the Technology Guide.
-Average Starting Wealth
-Two traits, one must be a campaign trait.

I might be taking more than one replacement. Not sure yet.

I've been looking around at some options for a cavalier character I'm building for funsies. Something that struck me as rather interesting is the Order of the Green. At first glance, I think the order is rather weak. The skills are okay. Survival works for the hunter of the unnatural that the Order is supposed to specialize in, but Knowledge (nature) does nothing to help you out in finding their weaknesses. But still, and knowledge is nice.

The challenge is a nice boost to accuracy. I could see it working well with a Vital Strike or Overrun/Charge Every Round type of build.

The order abilities seem bad though. Favored terrain, situational. Though it could be good if most of the campaign takes place in one spot. Cut the corruption is good against the right enemies. End of the cycle looks bad....just bad.

Has anyone else looked into this order or had any experience with playing it? It's hasn't even been mentioned in the guides I've seen.

A place for out of character chat and perhaps putting out some ideas that you don't think your character would come up with.

After several days of travel, the town of Torch finally comes into view. The stone and steel buildings come into view as you come over the top of a rocky outcropping that overlooks the valley settlement. You look about your adventuring group, a collection of strangers that you barely know brought together by parallel interests. Having spoken little of importance to each other, you don't know what drew the others to that poster in Hajoth Hakardos. You have only your own reasons.

"The town of torch is in trouble", the poster said. "The main source of income for the town has vanished as has the chief counsellor. A group of adventurers are needed to find out the cause and bring the counsellor home, if possible. Reward: 5,000gp for the discovery of the counsellor's whereabouts and a scroll of resurrection for his safe return." The poster also listed the remaining members of the town council and where their town hall is located.

Now, in the valley below, your first real adventure begins.

Torch, a small community within the country of Numeria, has long been a hotspot for wandering smiths and experimenters. Named for the large bonfire of purple flame that sits atop a heat blackened hill, the town opened it's fire up to anyone who wanted to use it, an attractive prospect considering it is one of the few things hot enough to forge the skymetal strewn across Numeria.

I'm going to be picking 4 characters to run through the Iron Gods AP.

I'm working on a sorcerer build for sometime when I get the chance to play it. The premise is a sorcerer who draws power from the earth itself. I've settled on the Stone Bloodline from Rogue Genius Games. It looks like the bloodline could make for a decent tank, but I'm not sure about how to go about it. So I've come to you guys for a starting point.

Here's the bloodline in question.
Stone Bloodline

The only thing I've settled on for sure is race and theme. She's going to be a half elf that draws her power from the hard earth.

September 21st. First Day of Autumn. At dawn, the bells of the new town church ring loud and clear through the town of Sandpoint, in honor of their own consecration. Citizens spring eagerly out of bed and into their finest outing attire. The sun is still low in the sky, shining clear and alone in the uniform blue. Yet, the morning is not hot. Rather, it's comfortably cool for a day of merry making outdoors. That's right. Today is the Swallowtail Festival, the day when the Sandpoint Cathedral becomes an official place of worship in the eyes of the goddess, Desna.

And whether you have arrived previously for this occasion or on other business or even just stumbled into town today, you have come in time to join the festivities. You see the crowds leaving their homes and heading up the large hill to the chapel looking over the town.

My real life group is unable to meet any longer and just one pbp isn't enough to scratch my pathfinder itch. So, let's start a classic together. I'll begin this game rather by the book, but things may go off script if the players are creative. Instead of tracking experience, I'll just let you know when you've earned a level up. Of course, the level up may not be when you expect it to be. Now with that said, on to the creation rules

-All Paizo material is allowed. No 3rd party this time around. Sorry guys.
-20 point buy. Max 20, Min 7 after racials.
-2 traits. One must be a campaign trait. In addition to the RotR campaign traits from the APG, you may allow use one of the bonus feats from the original player's guide as a campaign trait.
-Average starting gold
-Max hp at 1st level. Average hp rounded up at every level afterwards.
-Start at 1st level.
-I'm looking for 6 players.

No date yet on when recruitment will close. Probably won't keep it open longer than a week or so. I look forward to seeing the submissions.

Discuss! I want to hear any input you guys have for me. Character imbalances, encounter difficulty, plots threads that work, or don't. Anything at all that comes to mind.

The day is bright and clear in your forest home. Among the eclectic creatures you call family, everyone has a place and everyone has a job to do. After all, even in this peaceful glade winter could still be a terrible enemy and the cold weather was approaching fast this year. Dion the satyr, unofficial patriarch of the clan has asked each of you to perform a special task for him in place of your normal daily duties.

At the Southern edge of the forest, there is a blight. Not large, but occasionally dangerous. A place of rotted ground and blankets of fungi, it is home to unnatural creatures. A group of the forest's fey had developed a kind of antidote that reduced the blight but one of them had been captured in the night. Apparently, the blight had a sense of self preservation and spawned foul, tendriled monsters to protect itself.

Deep in Pan's Woods, there is a gathering of creatures sheltered from the world of men. Taught but not shown the world around them, these people have spent their lives under the tutelage of Dion, the Satyr. But forces from outside their comfortable, timeless home will force these beings to confront a world that calls them monsters.

-I'm looking for 6 players to partake in a "good" monster adventure.
-Race: Any paizo race or monster of CR 2 or less. 1/2 CR monsters get 2 class levels, 1 CR monsters get a class level, and 2 CR monsters get no levels to start.
-Class: Any Paizo. Will look at 3rd party stuff.
-No alignments. However, if you want to play something that relies on alignment, like a paladin, I'll talk with you about a conversion.
-20pt buy Only one stat above a 16 before racials. No stat above an 18 or below a 6.
-No traits.
-All characters will start with Sylvan as a language. Common is not automatically known.
-I realize that backstories will be pretty constrained since everyone is still in the forest, however I would like a short personality write up for role play guidance.

Hopefully, this game will last a little while.

My awesome girlfriend got me a Sega Genesis for Christmas as well as Sonic the Hedgehog, Comix Zone, and Dungeons and Dragons: Warriors of the Eternal Sun. Three of my favorite games from childhood.

Now I'm out on a mission to collect a bunch of classics from the 16bit era of gaming. You guys got any ideas on some good Genesis games? Got a favorite childhood game? I'd love to hear suggestions.

Here is the ooc discussion thread that I forgot to make last night.

Anyone worried about a rat and cat in the same party? :P

After being ushered into the sheriff's office by a rather surly looking half orc, you are greeted by a muscular and armored man of Shoanti descent. He is bald with dark skin and even darker eyes. The man introduces himself as Belor Hemlock, Sheriff of Sandpoint. The sheriff sits behind a small wooden desk. "You must be the adventurers that answered my notice," he says standing up and offering out his hand. "I hope your travels were well?"

"Now, before I endorse your hunt for the wanted criminal, Jubrayl Vhiski, I need to let you know about a few things. I want you disturbing the locals as little as possible. They've had a tough time last few years. I don't want any more danger to come upon them. Also, Vhiski is operating as local head of the local Sczarni gang. He has a large amount of resources at his disposal to avoid detection. Expect every trick in the book. Third, and I can't stress this enough, Vhiski is a dangerous criminal and I do not guarantee your safety. Your reward for capturing or killing the wanted criminal is 300gp each plus a portion of assets seized during the arrest. Are these terms agreeable?"
