I used the Ki as an extra attack as I have no idea it has SR or DR.

This is the first monk I've played since 1E so I'm right there with you on my lack of monk knowledge.

I have the rules forum hidden as I find it about as appealing as a dumpster fire.

If it makes it easier, I could just move forward 5' and see if it advances within attack range.
