Lumi looks at the now wide clearing and the surrounding flames- and leaps through the small hole. Sniffing, she tries to separate smoke from scent and seeks after the creature within.

Lumi growls, and releases her target- allowing the creature to stand up unimpeded. She stays in a low position, teeth bared- but clearly takes half a step away from the creature.

This post might be a stretch, based on game mechanics. If you rule that Lumi's command was to attack and that Paemil cannot influence her action again until his next turn then the following would be the AoO:

Despite being at Paemil's side, Lumi barely tolerates the teleportation. The new location- change in soil, the smell of smoke, the sudden change of temperature all compounded by the keen senses of the beast. Still, trained as she is, Lumi manages to keep her focus about her. Three large figures in the distance appear before Paemil's steady voice spurs her into action.

Take down the closest one!

Lumi leaps off the trail and through the brush, springing onward even as the weeds about the centaur grip and wrap about its legs. She snarls at the creature and attempts to rip at its legs.

Can JUST get there in 50 feet. Attacks should be against flat and potentially entangled.

Having eaten the remaining jerky, Lumi flops down on her side and stretches- her weight half on Paemil's feet. She arches her back and lets out a big yawn before flexing over to groom herself.

Words are exchanged, but it isn't until Paemil grabs his shield that her demeanor changes. She rolls over onto her paws, fur bristling as her muscles tense. Before Paemil can even give her a command, she slips through the door frame and out into the evening.

Meat...

Lumi looks back at Paemil one last time before taking another two steps towards Petro. In a flash, she snaps at the jerky and scampers a few feet off. Dropping it from her mouth, and lays down next to the prize- and licks it, still unsure. Finally, she places a paw on the jerky and begins to pull it with her teeth, shredding the meat and struggling to eat the strings with an awkward smacking motion.

Sharp sounds and strange words echo about the space, Lumi unable to follow the course of the conversation. Instead, she focuses on the posture of her hooman- relaxing slightly has he attempts to welcome the other two legs in the room.

Her attention breaks from the man, and she quickly looks to the bag held by the armored man. She twists her head back to Paemil just as he gestures to the pouch at the half-elf's side.

The white cat is covered in what appears to be a leather smock, drapped about her torso and fastened. She hated being constrained, but the contraption had protected her before, and made her hooman happy.

Tall ones cities smell bad. Too many people.

She slips through the doorway at the same time as the human, darting in and amongst his feet, without missing a beat or tripping him up. Taking quick stock of the room, she relaxes only when he slings his shield aside.

The man says a few words she doesn't understand, but slips into a more native tongue.

Yes. Woods. Dirt in our paws and tree back in our claws. Much better than with two legs. Even my two legs.

She paces back in forth directly in front of the man, waiting...

Hate wet. Wet everywhere

The leopard's tail waves back and forth while she stays pressed up against Paemil's leg. She playfully paws at his feet, eventually laying down to chew on toe of his boot. As the boat glides to a stop, she feels the waves take over and her fur stands on end.

A few moments pass, and then she catches the flicker of signs from Paemils hands.
Is time to hunt.

Her hair stands on her back, though it is firmly held down by her barding, and her eyes go focused. She pads off the plank and into the chest deep water, which this time she is able to ignore.

She takes a deep breath in through her nose, and glances around the atoll.

A whistle pierces her ear, and Lumi turns to run down the assassin she had been attacking before. Her strides are long, and she closes ground quickly. Arriving, she leaps at the threat, teeth first, attempting to wrestle him into the ground.

Rules questions:

I have a couple of questions related to Lumi's turn

#1: Lumi is a 2 HD animal. Sleep effects the first 4 HD of creatures. Paemil, Guard, and Razisus are all effected, leaving only 1 HD left to affect Lumi. If I understand the rules appropriately, she shouldn't need a Will save, correct?

#2a: Scent + Invisibility (yikes!). Scent allows Lumi to detect the presence of a creature within 30 ft. She can spend a move action to determine the location of the smell, or she can 'auto-dectect' if within 5 feet of the source. My understanding is that Lumi can sense the Red guard is within 30 feet, but either needs to spend a move action or be within 5ft to know its exact location. Is that correct?

#2b: Even if Lumi can sense the baddie, she still suffers a 50% miss chance. But, based on the trip being contingent on her bite hitting, I don't think I need to roll a second concealment for the trip attack.

Despite getting teeth into her enemy, Lumi is unable to wrestle her to the ground. A sleepiness washes over the leopard- forcing little more than a yawn from the cat. It is enough though, for the priest to step away from Lumi and out of her reach.

In a moment, her target is gone.

She steps forward cautiously, seeking to locate her prey. Once located, she unleashes all of her furry on the human.

Yep. And when your player puts things in their rolls without explanation, it makes it even harder. I am slowly learning to include more/too much detail in the posts to help the GM keep everything straight. Sorry I didn’t do that this time!

Sorry about the duplicate post- I didn’t even notice. Lumi gets a free trip attack if her bite lands. Based on her AoO roll, it looks like she would have missed blue standing up anyways- but just in case it comes up again.

Crouched in the underbrush, all of a sudden a bright light draws the cats attention Humans and bad sight. Ruin hiding.

Springing forward, the cat goes to investigate the source of the light- and sees her companion wading into the fast flowing water. He calls out to her and points to the other side of the river.

With that, the cat steps into the cold water, sticking her fur to her sides and matting down her ears and tail. Bounding quickly, she reaches the other bank. As she emerges from the water- the leopard give a strong shake and disappears into the underbrush.

The snowy leopard stalks back into the clearing, just in time to witness Paemil's and others strange behavior.

Seeing her friend unwell, she moves up to his side- nuzzling up to his leg. As he steadies, the cat reluctantly moves forward back out into the woods after a brief series of hand signals, intended to reassure his companion.

Loping along ahead of the party, Lumi's feet fall quietly in the underbrush. She can just hear the noise of the group behind her.

"Loud humans." she thinks, looking back over her shoulder before turning back to the front. She ranges out to 100' from the party before circling back to see her friend. "Human needs my protection. Look out for his safety." A quick glance or hand signal moves her back out into the woods again.

*Yawn* Why walk on path? Rather run through woods.

During the journey, Lumi ranges ahead of the party- prowling through the underbrush or sneaking through the shadows. She comes back every 15 mins, almost like clockwork, appearing just in line of sight- before returning to her scouting.

When she first notices the bear's head, she stops dead in her tracks. Back arching, she enters a defensive stance- looking not for the bear but for those who would have killed it.

*It is ok, friend. I will not allow you to end up like this bear. You have my word.* comes from her human, and the tension leaves.

She hesitates before entering the Inn. "Most humans do not like me in their den" before finally being gulled into entering the building by Paemil.

Her demeanor lifts immediately- actively ignoring Rhiannon. She sidles up next to Paemil, absentmindedly licking her paws and rubbing up against his legs.

Nothing about the language used sounds familiar to Lumi, especially after the switch from Sylvan to Common. However, she senses Paemil's tension, and her eyes keep darting back and forth between the lady on the horse and Paemil.

His hands flash several signals, and instinctively Lumi follows him step by step- aware of the threat posed by both the rider and the horse.

Large animal. Smells of calm but Human is nervous.

She gets up quickly, moving about the area searching for a familiar, or out of place, scent. She stays low, stalking her future prey.

Scent Rules, emphasis mine:

Scent (Ex)
This special quality allows a creature to detect approaching enemies, sniff out hidden foes, and track by sense of smell. Creatures with the scent ability can identify familiar odors just as humans do familiar sights.

The creature can detect opponents within 30 feet by sense of smell. If the opponent is upwind, the range increases to 60 feet; if downwind, it drops to 15 feet. Strong scents, such as smoke or rotting garbage, can be detected at twice the ranges noted above. Overpowering scents, such as skunk musk or troglodyte stench, can be detected at triple normal range.

When a creature detects a scent, the exact location of the source is not revealed—only its presence somewhere within range. The creature can take a move action to note the direction of the scent. When the creature is within 5 feet of the source, it pinpoints the source’s location.

A creature with the scent ability can follow tracks by smell, making a Wisdom (or Survival) check to find or follow a track. The typical DC for a fresh trail is 10 (no matter what kind of surface holds the scent). This DC increases or decreases depending on how strong the quarry’s odor is, the number of creatures, and the age of the trail. For each hour that the trail is cold, the DC increases by 2. The ability otherwise follows the rules for the Survival skill. Creatures tracking by scent ignore the effects of surface conditions and poor visibility.
