Jasmine looks, startled, at the bouquet that had been shoved in her hands by the shy young man who approached. Kind of cute! What a lovely surprise. Memorizing his look so that she can show it to others later, she happily entwines the flowers in her hair. Surely Janira or someone would know who he is.
820-3
Jasmine takes a bite of the dip, and then gets up with one graceful movement. "I am sorry to eat and run, but if we need to gather with our gear to the main hall in Skyreach, I will need to find my bodyguard, Ryuko! Go get your gear! I will hopefully see you later!" She bows to everyone, kisses the blushing Xuan on the cheek, and then run off into the crowd.

@575: You can pick whatever you like, but Sense Motive would be thematic! @Corona: That chicken is awesome! ____ Samji the monkey comes down off Jasmine's shoulder, also fascinated by the chicken! It follows the chicken about half a foot away, bobbing its head when the chicken does, and imitating the chicken's awkward gait.

Jasmine raises an eyebrow at the haikus of 575, but smiles. "Time for Torchbearing
She pours cups for everyone, then sniffs the herbs that Skye hands her. "Oh, I know people who would like this. You might be right, Corona, that it would be good on Cornbread. Or other things." She wraps the herbs back up for later, then turns to the group. "What has been your favorite lesson so far from the Torch Bearing Festival?" Feel free to make up whatever training you would like. The Three Masters, along with other notable Pathfinders, taught a variety of classes, from Golarion's history to spellcasting techniques, and ran obstacle courses and a triathlon.

"1, 2, 3, 4, 5... and 6!" A pretty Tien girl wears a tabard that marks her as one of the Runners for society events. Overhead, hanging from a curtain, a monkey stares at you all inquisitively as she counts off the Pathfinders that make it to the Great Hall. "We have a full table!" She checks off your names with satisfaction, gesturing at you all to follow her. "Come, follow me and I'll show you to your seats. I'm Jasmine Wu! My family makes Wu Chai Tea, 'The Tea with the Monkey on the Box!'" At this cheery announcement, the little monkey drops to her shoulder and chatters at her. "Ah yes, Samji! You are right! We should give them all tea! I have found that tea and monkeys makes everyone happy, and happy people fight better!" She hands you all yellow boxes of tea, each embossed with a red monkey. Then she smiles and bows. "Please... I should not do all the talking! Introduce yourselves! Banquets are best if the company is at least as good as the food! Who are all of you? What have you done in Society? Tell us!"
820-3
I wound up picking up Disable Device, a Vest of Escape, scrolls of Aram Zey's focus and an adamantine wire saw that I keep tucked in my bra after being locked in not once but twice in PFS scenarios. My infiltration specialist will never be locked in or out of anywhere again. I do not care if it's not a class skill for Jasmine. Her personal experience meant that it became quite important to her to educate herself in these practical matters.
820-3
"1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6!" A pathfinder wearing the colors of a Grand Lodge runner comes by. She has a little monkey on her shoulder, and a flag on her spear bearing the logo of Wu Chai Tea. She's counting off groups. "1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6!" She counts all of you with a dazzling smile. "You're a team now! You heard the lady, go!"
820-3
"Oh, is storytime now?" Jasmine looks up, somehow not surprised to be teleported across time and space to arrive in this little gathering in Saringallow. "When I first join Society, I look for Lantern Lodge, but Amara Li already gone and doors closed." Jasmine sighs. "Me and my bodyguard, Ryukyo, were sad, and then Miss Zarta see us. She say, 'Come in! Have tea!' She very friendly and call me her 'Scrumptious Tea Cake!' She so nice, we join Dark Archive right away!" ____ Yep, Zarta hits on everyone. It's part of her charm... Her old faction missions are always a scream to read. They often read like this:
Tender Flesh Puppet, I hear that you will be investigating [REDACTED] soon. He has a renowned library, including a Vudran book, 1000 Dances of Clouds and Rain. It's reputed to be a veritable repository of erotic delights. Use charm or guile, but please get it for me. If you do, we can explore its secrets... together. Awaiting you in Agony,
___ Tasty Morsel, Someone has been indiscreet. [REDACTED] letters have been stolen, and they name a number of people who I'd rather not receive the wrong sort of attention. Someone will be whipped for this, and not in the enjoyable way we usually share together. Can you take care of this for me, darling? Anticipating the delights of our next meeting,
___
I should say that in addition to the steamy froth, they also often include some of the best intel. Zarta is clearly a well-informed faction head! Hmm
I'm a flagbearer bard (and a kitsune as well). Flagbearer allows me to provide +1 morale to attack and damage. I just turned level 7, and soon will be able to afford the banner of ancient kings so that I can really turn up my performance bonuses. The downside of the flag is that you cannot really let go of it. You have to carry the thing in a hand for it to work. It pretty much means that you are using a spear all the time as a bard. Other options: be adopted by halflings, pick up the "helpful halfling" aid another trait, and aid your party members with a whip. *Crack!* +4 to attack, or AC, or something else. One at a time, but it's a bigger bonus. Good luck with your firefox! Hmm
820-3
"Hello, everyone!" A tien bard steps in. She waves to everyone, then blows a kiss to Mr. Peppers. "Have you heard the rumor about these brand new missions? So exciting!" Three new evergreens, all interlinked, and they all can be played to level 3. If you do all three, you can use CAMPAIGN mode. Swoon!

Speaking of Easter Eggs, Here's Mine! Jasmine, the tien runner you met before, mills around the crowd, spinning and singing, just excited to be alive. [Intro]
Going to Sesshigoss made me shiver
I can’t remember if I cried
[Chorus]
Did you write the book of fate
Well, I know you reset fate on a whim
But now I really can’t complain
[Chorus]
Now for two hours we’ve been on our own
Gad Gemple thinks he’s a god newborn
And then Romnus stole his golden hoard
[Chorus]
Helter skelter there’s nowhere to shelter
Now the vault is open is there room
'Cause simulcra tried to take the field
[Chorus]
Oh, and there we were all in one place
Oh, and as we came upon them in the vault
And as we stacked anchors high that night
[Chorus]
[Outro]
And in the streets, Azlanti screamed
And the three men I admire most
[Chorus]
They were singing bye, bye, let’s let Aroden lie

A small tien woman that you recognize as one of the society's runners pauses a moment between fights to catch her breath. Then seeing you engage in battle once more, she bursts into song to encourage you. [Intro]

Song finished, she grins and says, "Good luck!" before disappearing back into the crowd.

A small tien girl, who you recognize as one of the runners for this event, comes up to you all out of breath. “I have something for you!” She pulls out a silver raven. The words Official Aid Token are engraved upon it. “Use this when you need help, and help will come!” Official Aid Token Details:
An Aid Token's benefits vary based on the table's subtier, and these benefits can take one of the following five forms. Aid Another: A Pathfinder agent helps the PCs solve a puzzle, disable a trap, or accomplish some other task as if performing the aid another action for a PC. In Subtiers 5–6 and 7–8, the total bonus is +3. Allied Offensive: A Pathfinder agent strikes a creature at the same time as the PC, increasing the damage dealt by one attack by 2d8 points. In addition, after the attack, anyone attacking the target is considered to be flanking it until the beginning of the attacker's next turn. Burst of Healing: A Pathfinder agent heals all of the PCs of 3d6 points of damage. In Subtiers 5–6 and 7–8, the amount healed increases to 3d6 points. Alternatively, in any subtier the agent can instead cast neutralize poison, remove curse, or remove disease with a caster level equal to the table's APL (minimum 5). Spellcasting Synergy: A Pathfinder agent casts a spell at the same time as the PC, increasing the save DC and caster level of the PC's spell by 2. Timely Inspiration: A Pathfinder agent provides the effects of a bard's inspire courage bardic performance for 3 rounds. In Subtiers 5-6 and 7-8, the competence bonus is +2. Try to use it early, so we can pass it around to other tables. The more these things move, the more effective they are.
"This comes with good wishes from Team 17! Good luck with your fight!"

“Too bad. Party with three gnomes sound fun!" She shakes her head. "He bleach-bait for sure.” She shrugs, then puts her hand over her eyes as she looks over the field. “Hmmm... Need a sixth.” She looks around, sees the scowling Daeris Moonrunner. “Perfect! Six!” She ushers the woman with the cat towards the rest of the team. “Come, come! This your team! All happy people! New friends! Okay?” Before you can respond or ask any questions of her, she’s whirling off in the crowd again, dealing with the next team. “Maybe you see me later!”
820-3
“One, Two, Three, Four, Five, Six!” A pretty Tien girl, carrying a flag, counts off groups of people for each team and writes down their names. “Hello! I’m Jasmine! Pleased to meet you! I assemble teams for big event.” She approaches you with a smile and starts counting you off as she learns each of your names. “One. Ca-cu-mat-tus, you say?” Her common has a thick tien accent, but she’s very enthusiastic. A little macaque monkey hangs on her shoulder, staring wide-eyed at everyone. She sounds the syllables out as she writes the name down. “Hmm... Interesting name. Familiar. Maybe I see it written down some place?” She ponders a moment, considering, forehead crinkling, then she shrugs and continues. “Two. Sparkleweave... Pretty name! Three. Balon! Simple name, easy to remember! Four. Reesa! Another easy name! Five. Ely Thorn Kett!” “You there!” She turns to the gnome carrying the barrelful of wands. “What your name?” ___
I could also easily do Jasmine Wu. Kimono, fox ears, stuffed monkey -- I have all this! However that would mean Bret would have to come as his Nagaji... Eh, maybe that won't happen! Jared, I like how you're thinking here. At Convergence, I had some fantastic costumes at my game table, and the group did draw a crowd. Hmm

I am now trying to decide if I can afford both this and the banner of the linnorm kings... That is a LOT of cash, but I cannot think of anything that the Wu Chai Tea empire needs more than that tea set! Hmm
"I finally got to have another kitsune on my team after many important errands for Mistress Zarta." [Level 5] "He was a gunslinger! It was so nice to travel with someone else with more than one face!" Then she pauses, and blushes. "And, um, tail." There is no one true Kitsune build locally. I've seen Swashbucklers, Gunslingers, Bards, Witches, and a Bloodrager. The great thing about kitsunes is that you can do so many interesting things with them... Jasmine is an infiltration specialist duettist bard who also likes buffing her group. And promoting Wu Chai Tea, the tea with the monkey on the box! They have interesting racials and options and are just plain fun. Such great RP and folkloric hooks, too! It's rare here to have more than one kitsune on a team.

"My name is Jasmine Wu. My family make Wu Chai Tea, the Tea with the Monkey on the Box! I carry the Wu Chai Flag because Tea and Monkeys make everyone happy!" Before the game starts, Jasmine passes out boxes of Wu Chai Tea, because "Happy people fight better!" Jasmine is a flagbearer bard. She contributes somewhat in combat but really what she does is spells and buffing. At fifth level, her monkey can inspire courage while Jasmine casts spells like glitterdust. This means she has great action economy. She covers skills, does great infiltration, provides some spells and offers +3 to attack and damage. I've carried teams to victory. Yes, my melee skills with my spear aren't great, but they don't have to be. I am a very competent support bard. Every team I've been on has ended with the melee characters shaking my hand and saying, "Thank you." Hmm

I love Triple Time. However, with Jasmine, in this morass of rules uncertainty, I decided to invest in the Mass Feather Step spell, which I know can be done alongside a bardic performance rather than the bardic masterpiece Symphony of the Elysian Heart. If I'm going to have to expend a spell known for freedom of movement, I might as well do it with the spell and be able to inspire courage at the same time. Hmm
A petiite tien woman comes around to you, handing out samples of tea. She carries a flag with the Wu Chai Tea logo on it, and has a monkey on her shoulder. "My family make Wu Chai Tea, the tea with the monkey on the box. I'm Jasmine, and this is my body guard, Ryukyo! We wanted to join Lantern Lodge, but the doors were closed. So Miss Zarta, she say, 'Come in, come in!' She call me her 'Scrumptious Tea Cake' and she so nice, we join 'Dark Archive!'" At this point, the melee guys to whom I'm handing the tea usually look at it dubiously, and ask me if I have any beer. However, by the END of the adventure, they are all happily drinking my tea and proclaiming it the best tea EVER since Jasmine and her monkey give +3 to attack and damage. From then on, when I see them, they shout, "I love your monkey tea!"
We played this high-tier with the four player adjustment. We had 6 players of which only two were sixth. Everyone was lower. I also enjoyed this one with Mr. Slanky GMing, but it was a tough scenario. We had no characters that were really built for dealing with incorporeal undead, but the party we brought to the table was versatile and had high system mastery. Despite this, we had a rough time even with me providing countersong to the sonic effects, and with my spellwarrior skald counterpart making all our weapons ghost touch. Today, I watched a group play through it that had an even rougher time, avoiding the TPK by the skin of their teeth. The only thing that saved them was a Magic Circle v. Evil spell and sure grit and determination. Without really good prep, or the right kind of divine caster / necromancer, this could be a deadly scenario. I did love the boon, though! As a Calisro Benarry fan, I squee'ed when I saw what we could get with 1PP on that chronicle sheet. Jasmine is totally buying that item. Thank you for including it. Hmm
"Hello, my name is Jasmine. My family make Wu Chai Tea, the tea with the monkey on the box!" Jasmine's monkey, Samji, reaches into her haversack and offers boxes of tea to all the Pathfinders at the briefing. "I carry a Wu Chai Tea flag," Jasmine points to her flag, with a picture of a monkey drinking tea, and the Wu Chai logo, "because tea and monkeys make everybody happy!" ___
The statement above about fighters and rogues is both unfair and untrue. I've played alongside excellent characters made out of both classes in PFS who have saved the party with what they could do. ___ This thread made my Kitsune duettist bard, Jasmine, really anxious. She's absolute rubbish at melee. I usually as a bard try to be a bit more competent at melee / archery, but in Jasmine's case there were other things I wanted to do with her. (Like infiltrating enemies by becoming them with Realistic Likeness.) Yes, she uses weapons. She just sucks at them! So in the last adventure that I was in I paid attention to all the stuff that I did in combat. And here's what I did at level 4 in one round:
Throughout the adventure, I served as a face, skill monkey, and problem solver. I'm an acrobat and can UMD scrolls and wands. I took out one hard-hitting combatant by myself by approaching him with a pair of manacles and the spell Beguiling Gift, asking him, "Hey, Baby, want to play with me? You wear the manacles, and we can have fun." But no one in the last scenario that I was in had cause to complain about my contributions to the party. Hmm |
