Given this is repeatable, who has done it before? It changes quite a bit each time, so I'm not too worried, just if there are any totally new folks, let them take the reigns a bit. I'll give our last two players some time to check in, and we can get properly started soon. ![]()

Loud and raucous conversation filters through the door from the common room of the Uscalin Lodge, which doubles as the Ace of Dreams gambling house. “I know it’s here. I had it just a moment ago.” Venture-Captain Shevar Besnik lifts piles of papers and numerous boxes off of his desk, stacking them on various side tables and chairs in his clean but overly cluttered office. The tall, Varisian man’s face parts in a toothy grin as he lifts up a solid oak box. “Found it!” As if to punctuate his discovery, a crowd of players in the gambling hall erupts in cheers. Distracted for a moment, Besnik stares at the closed office door that leads to the common room. “Desna laughs. Well, she laughs at me, but she smiles on them.” The venture captain shrugs. “All they have is gold; what I have in here is far more valuable.” Besnik opens the box’s lid painstakingly slowly, careful to keep the contents out of sight. With reverence, he lifts a large tome from the box and gently sets it on the table. “Careful, the binding hasn’t held up well. This is one of the few Tomes of Righteous Repose left in the world. I’m pretty sure there’s one in the library of the Sancta Iomedaea in Vigil, but I’m—well, let’s just say I’m no longer welcome there. That’s a story for another time. Up until today, I’ve only skimmed the pages. I didn’t want to damage it, but now that you’re here, I can’t wait any longer. Care to plumb the depths of this most ancient and wonderful storybook? Oh, the marvelous adventures we will soon read! This tome is a collection of tales describing how various crusaders died gloriously and honorably. I’m hoping to find some clues in the text that will lead us to an as-of-yet undiscovered site or relic. Maybe we can trade a bit of what we find with the Knights of Ozem and earn ourselves some goodwill. After what happened last time, we need it. Care to peruse the pages with me?” ![]()

Even playing a 7, you would still only bring the APL to 4. Given it's a core, 4-player, party, it might be good to have the 7 along. ![]()
Here is my application. I hope I've understood everything right. If you have any questions or comments, please let me know. Matada was born to a poor family in the forests of Varisia. His parents’ first child, his birth was awaited anxiously. But, on delivery, things took a terrible turn. Seeing the feathered baby, with a beak for a mouth, the uneducated woodsman incorrectly assumed his wife had cheated on him. Flying into a rage, he attacked her. Only a lucky Hold Person by the attending Cleric saved her. The cleric was then able to explain the child’s strange nature. For his father, however, it was too late. He had attacked his wife, and Erastil demanded justice. The woodcutter was sentenced to 15 years in a Magnimar prison, where he remains to this day. Left destitute, his mother sold their meager property and took her infant son to a place she figured he would be accepted, Kaer Maga. There she apprenticed to a fletcher and was able to eke out enough to keep them both alive. Matada was left to grow up in the City of Strangers. His mother never blamed her husband for what happened. Instead, she raised her son to revere his lost father, telling him the truth, but making it seem justified. Matada chose to follow in the footsteps of his father, becoming an archer. Most assumed he would take Erastil as a patron; but he blamed Erastil for his father’s fate. Headstrong and chaotic, he also didn’t suit the religion’s Tennent’s particularly well. All through his youth, wanderlust gripped him and, in the end, he turned to the Goddess of Travel to guide him. He learned the ways of the forest, to serve Desna and to channel the spirits of nature itself. In Kaer Maga, there are plenty of unusual folk. When Matada did finally bid his mother good-bye and headed out beyond the only city he knew, he became more and more of an oddity. Many still assumed he was a Tengu of some sort. The few Tengu he met treated him with derision. He no longer calls anywhere home. For now, he wanders the land, waiting for something interesting to happen. Welcome all. It's been a really long time since I have run a PbP game on this server. So I hope I'll do ok. I'll need the standard stuff in the recruitment thread. Player:

A Pathfinder Society Scenario designed for levels 3–7. When the necromancer-king Tar-Baphon rose as a lich and threatened to conquer all of Avistan, Taldor rallied its neighbors and led the Shining Crusade, a glorious campaign that defeated the Whispering Tyrant’s armies and sealed him away. For the better part of a millennium, Lastwall has guarded Tar-Baphon’s prison and fended off the orc tribes to the north, rarely sparing a second thought to the rich archaeological secrets that lie just below the soil. A local venture-captain has found a lost chapter to the Tome of Righteous Repose, which chronicles the demise of countless heroes of the Shining Crusade. At long last, this has earned the Society Lastwall’s blessing to uncover these lost sites, lay to rest the fallen crusaders, and repatriate the family heirlooms they carried to battle. "From the Tome of Righteous Repose" is an evergreen, replayable scenario designed to provide a flexible adventure that confronts the PCs with a variety of threats more common to higher-level characters—all while uncovering the history of one of Avistan’s greatest conflicts. Depending on which lead the PCs take, they might explore the proud crusader nation of Lastwall, travel into the gloom-shrouded mountains of Ustalav, or risk an expedition into the orc-ruled wastes of Belkzen in pursuit of lost history. Pretty basic stuff, this is a REPEATABLE scenario that will be run in CORE. First come first taken. PFS characters only. 6 players maximum. Players should be prepared to post at least once a day. Pre-gens allowed, level appropriate to sub-tier. ![]()

24 more damage, 35 total, total HP reduced by 11 to 91, which leaves me at 56 hp. Jackson mutters an oath in a language most would not understand Undercommon and activates his Boots of Vaulting to leap 30 feet forward and end underneath Mother Bloodleaf. Acrobatics 30: 1d20 + 28 ⇒ (3) + 28 = 31 That would provoke from her, if she's armed. Acrobatics to avoid AoO: 1d20 + 28 ⇒ (11) + 28 = 39 "You're not getting away from me that easily." Jackson says, through gritted teeth, to the flier above him. ![]()

I don't want to get pissy, and I recognize time is an issue on the special; but I feel we were rushed past buffing and strategics completely. We knew we were going into a fight. We, as players, should have had some time to prepare. As is, we're not even sure what buffs are up and when they were cast. Alchemical Grease, if I had time to put it on, might have made a difference to those grabs. I'm feeling confused and unprepared right now, when as characters we really shouldn't be. Maybe we can confirm, in this thread and not the main one, what we were planning to have on before the fight started? ![]()

Jackson takes both hits. My CMD vs grapple is nowhere near as boosted as my CMB for grapple. However, the instant he grappled me my Shirt of Immolation would have fired. Fire damage: 1d6 + 10 ⇒ (3) + 10 = 13 "Lesson number SHUT UP!" Feeling crazy, Jackson rolls over slightly and tries to wrap himself around the mighty beast's leg. There was mention of Haste being cast earlier, but I'm not sure if it actually was so I won't add a +1 for it. Modifiers: -4 Prone, +2 Heroism, I think I have a flank +2. If Adsal D-doored away then it's no longer grappled. Grapple: 1d20 + 32 ⇒ (6) + 32 = 38 I don't like that roll and I don't think I've used my folio reroll yet. So, I reroll at +5 for stars. Grapple: 1d20 + 37 ⇒ (5) + 37 = 42 Damage:
Armor Spikes: 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11 Shirt of Immolation 2/10: 1d6 + 10 ⇒ (3) + 10 = 13 Move action:
Maintain grapple (if successful), to damage Grapple: 1d20 + 37 ⇒ (3) + 37 = 40 Base damage
Free action, study the target after dealing sneak attack, to immediately add +2 damage Swift action, activate Strangler Feat sneak attack: 6d6 ⇒ (2, 6, 6, 5, 3, 6) = 28 if grapple fails: Swift action, study the creature. Move action, use Martial Flexibility to gain the Deadly Grappler feat. ![]()

I would have used a boon to cast Heroism at character level (11) before the test started. Also, no one ever answered me about charging my armor spikes... Since it appears no one can cast Frigid Touch, I would have had one of the psychic casters use Touch of Idiocy instead. Jackson charges the beast, empty-handed. If it has Combat Reflexes it can AoO me, so I'm going to try acrobatics, however, I am moving at full speed and take the associated penalty. Acrobatics: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (7) + 20 = 27 Assuming I survive to reach it, I ram into it with my Armor Spikes. I'm going to assume it is flat-footed, if not there will be no sneak attack damage. Armor Spike attack, charging: 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (8) + 22 = 30 Base Damage: 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8Magic, Silver, Piercing Sneak Attack: 6d6 ⇒ (1, 5, 2, 2, 2, 5) = 17 Assuming I deal damage I fire off the Touch of Idiocy in the armor spikes. I will roll spell resistance just in case. SR: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23 INT/WIS/CHA penalty: 1d6 ⇒ 1 Sigh... ![]()
