Day Sixty-four through the morning of Day Sixty-seven The party spends the next several days cleaning and restoring Nargrym’s tomb. On the morning of the six-seventh day, the party leaves Nargrym’s tomb behind, heading the way they came. Ingrahild's Survival check: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (10) + 10 = 20 Ingrahild will notice what looks like the remains of an old road, "This thar be escaped me befir. It be an old road, very old, heading west. Janderhoff is towards the west. Should we be give it a whirl." Who gets the stuff? Who cuts off their hand?

Ingrihild comes up, "Take everything else. Umlo and I only want the beard clasp. But we need to restore the Tomb. And then seal it up again. Without any valuables, no one should need to disturb Nargrym again." Umlo, Ingrahild, and Leira will reveal the following concerning the items found: Nargrym Steelhand replaced the hand he lost to a frost giant’s greataxe with this magic prosthesis. NARGRYM’S STEEL HAND MINOR Artifact SLOT none CL 20th WEIGHT 3 lbs. AURA strong transmutation Forged from solid steel, this magically animated prosthetic hand is elaborately sculpted down to the finest detail. Nargrym’s steel hand can be used to replace the normal hand of a humanoid creature—it can’t be worn in addition to an already existing hand. When attached to the wrist stump of a living humanoid creature, Nargrym’s steel hand magically forms a permanent bond to the wearer’s flesh and nerves. Once the hand has bonded to the wearer’s wrist, the wearer gains full control over the hand as if it were part of his own body. The hand has a full range of motion and functions as a normal hand. While worn, Nargrym’s steel hand grants its wearer a +2 enhancement bonus to Strength (treat this as a temporary ability bonus for the first 24 hours the hand is worn) and a +5 bonus to CMD against disarm attempts. In addition, the wearer can wield weapons of one size category larger than the wearer’s size without penalty and without altering the weapon’s designation as a light, one-handed, or two-handed weapon. For example, a Medium creature wearing Nargrym’s steel hand could wield a Large longspear as a two-handed weapon without penalty. However, whenever the wearer of the hand is within line of sight of a creature with the giant subtype, he must succeed at DC 15 Will save or be compelled to attack the giant, as suggestion. Once bonded to a wearer, Nargrym’s steel hand cannot be removed except by the wearer or after the wearer’s death. DESTRUCTION: Nargrym’s steel hand is destroyed if it is smashed by a giant wielding a hammer of thunderbolts. Nargrym Steelhand took this spear from the dead hands of the taiga giant warlord Neveraka, and used the weapon for the rest of his giantslaying career. Heartspit PRICE 10,310 GPS SLOT none CL 8th WEIGHT 18 lbs. AURA moderate evocation Fitted with a menacingly cruel 2-foot-long barbed iron head, this Large +1 giant-bane longspear can skewer an opponent, lodging beneath the flesh and holding fast. On a confirmed critical hit with the spear, Heartspit’s wielder can attempt a combat maneuver check to grapple the target as a free action. This grapple attempt does not provoke an attack of opportunity from the target if that creature is not threatening the wielder. While grappling a creature with Heartspit, the wielder can move or damage the target with the spear only on the wielder’s turn. The wielder is still considered grappled, though he does not have to be adjacent to the target to continue the grapple. If the wielder ends the grapple or the target successfully breaks the grapple, the target takes 4d6 points of slashing damage as the spear’s barbed head is ripped free. Umlo looks up at the party, "Aye bears. Every night I have been fighting these bears. Two, sometimes three at a time. They always win. If I begin to win they send in another bear, usually one of the dire beasties." He sighs, "Droja here, then comes in and heals me for the next night's fight. If it wasn't for Droja, me would be a goner. All I have is me iron skillet as a weapon." He reaches for and holds up a bloody skillet. Mats of bear fur can be seen along its edges. Ingrahild embraces her brother, "They all deserve to die. Let's find a place to rest and then finish off this vermin."

Ingrahild exclaimed. She begins to cry and goes to embrace her brother. The party hears the growls of many bears. I will pause for the party to come into the conversation.

Still overcome with melancholy, Ingrahild manages a smile when an Orc engages, "Tis be fer me brutha, you miserable arse of a swine." At present, Kaos sees no other creatures in the moat. "With all due respect Miss, if it be me brutha, then he be likely in the moat," Ingrahild responds to Leira's suggestion. Ingrahild follows Kaos down into the moat. Ingrahild is much better in melee than range. Her strength is two weapon fighting. So far we have Anga and Leira up. Haskyll, Ingrahild and Kaos low. I do suggest that Ragnir go up, so that the upper group has healing. Ulfgard should go low. Please confirm. But, if no one responds by tomorrow, we are going with that.

When Kaos cast detect magic, the breastplate and warhammer radiate magic. When Ingrahild sees the items, "No! No! These be me brutha Umlo's gear. I recognize them. Earlier in the Surprise Round Anga hits the big headed humanoid with a Force Missile. Round Two Leira acted first in the Round. Ingrahild fires two arrows through the crowd at the big headed humanoid. With the thin ugly down, Ragnir hefts his axe, steps in, and hacks into Pumkinhead. Kaos takes a step to the right. Haskyll stabs at the creature. But, Ulfgard steps in with Agrimmosh and drops Mr. Pumkinhead. Both Humanoids lie unconscious on the floor. Leira 23 (AC19/24 34/39)
I went ahead and completed this encounter since Ulfgard's strike dropped the creature. Leira would only have used one of her Force Missiles.

Kaos opens the door. Surprise Round Leira fires an arrow at the first humanoid she sees. The arrow embeds into the being. "Diplomacy is fer diplomats," Ingrahild fights through the despair, takes a step and fires an arrow at the skinny extremely ugly deformed humanoid, that has yet to be engaged. But the arrow bounced off the stone wall behind the creature. Ingrahild Shortbow: 1d20 + 9 - 2 ⇒ (7) + 9 - 2 = 141d6 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (6) + 1 - 2 = 5 Ragnir brings up a Protection from Evil for everyone. Kaos moves in and engages the big headed ugly humanoid. Haskyll follows with spear in hand. Anga looks on. Ulfgard guards the door. Round One Moving in and spider climbing up the wall, Leira hits Mr. Skinny with a second arrow. Ingrahild attempts two more arrow shots. The first arrow strikes deep into the skinny one's chest. The ugly falls unconscious as Ingrihild's second arrow misses high. Ingrahild Shortbow 1st attack: 1d20 + 9 - 4 - 2 ⇒ (20) + 9 - 4 - 2 = 233d6 + 3 - 2 ⇒ (3, 3, 4) + 3 - 2 = 11
Ragnir, seeing Mr. Skinny fall, shifts his attack to the big head humanoid, but misses the surprisingly nimble humanoid. Startled, the remaining humanoid pulls out a wicked hooked weapon and slashes at the big human. The one nearly as tall as himself. The hook cuts into Kaos. Big headed humanoid with hook weapon versus Kaos: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (12) + 11 = 231d10 + 11 ⇒ (2) + 11 = 13 Kaos takes thirteen points of damage. Kaos misses with his counter strikes. Haskyll sticks the big headed humanoid with his spear. Anga watches. Ulfgard guards. Leira 23 (AC19/24 34/39)

Ingrihild listens to Anga. Then fights through the despair, "Aye! We can take a horde of Orc pigs. And if we can't, then the great forge in the sky will honor our attempt. But, I agree. We need to scout out ahead first." For now, does the party go back to the Nortwest tower?

"Thar be Orcsas in this har place thatsas needs ta be dealt with," Ingrihild says fighting through the despair. When she hears the discussion about a place of rest, "We be the only ones that knowsas about that ugly Giant lass being dead. We barricade ourselves up in her big room. And if anything be coming a knockin', we tell'm to go away." Ingrihild pauses, then tries her deepest voice imitation, "In a big deep ugly sounding Giant scum voice that is." But the Extended Rope Trick spell would work just fine. You pull the rope back into the extra-dimensional space.

@ Ragnir - From the spell rule, "and has the same threat range and critical multipliers as a real weapon of its form." So yes, a spiritual weapon can crit. Ingrihild negotiates the difficult terrain of dead bodies, and moves up next to Ragnir. She too becomes ready for the Ogre's advance. I moved Ragnir's token. Anga, Haskyll, and Ulfgard have actions. The Ogres will go first in the Rounds. They have already taken their actions in the current Round.

So, yes, this is against Magic, so the +2 Dwarf Bonus will apply. Waves of despair overwhelm Ingrihild, but she pushes on with her Dwarven Waraxe in her main hand and Handaxe in the offhand. She misses with her primary weapon and nicked the Giant Orc with her offhand weapon. Ingrahild Dwarven Waraxe Two Weapon 1st attack: 1d20 + 9 - 2 ⇒ (2) + 9 - 2 = 91d10 + 4 - 2 ⇒ (9) + 4 - 2 = 11

Ingrahild will be somewhat stunned by the turn of events, not the least, seeing two Manticores jump out from under the cage and begin devouring the two dead Hill Giants. Inside the cage room, Ingrahild looks to find something to secure the door, "Help me block up t'is here door. Lika Ragnir says, me donna wanna be dessert." Kaos does not notice anything magical in the room, but he, Leira and everyone else do notice there is a horde of items in the room. The most stunning of which is a wedding dress, a giantsized, gem-encrusted silk gown, draped like a tablecloth over a large oaken desk inside the cage. Scattered among the chests, crates, and loose piles of coins outside the cage, there is a book, a marble bust.... DC 20 Knowledge religion check:
Bust of the stone giant (actually the giant god Minderhal) ... a woven 25-footsquare carpet depicting two giants making love, a polished, giant-sized drinking horn made from a mammoth’s tusk, a macabre necklace made from petrified human and elf ears, a series of 12 framed drawings or proportion studies of different giants (cave giant, ogre, hill giant, marsh giant, stone giant, ettin, frost giant, tomb giant, fire giant, ash giant, cloud giant, and storm giant), a gem-encrusted scabbard for a Huge falcata, and a bronze statue of a fierce storm giant riding a dragon.
