It's kind of sad when the wizard is the front line... Varian takes a swing at the injured man in front of him... Quarterstaff: 1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 5 + 1 = 22, for 1d6 + 8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 8 + 1 = 12 damage. ...and then retreats back down the stairs.
