The Exchange

N Male Tiefling Wizard (Bloatmage) 11

With some GM credit Gaius hits level 7 now so if we do play again and it is tier 3-4 I will switch characters.

The Exchange

N Male Tiefling Wizard (Bloatmage) 11

Fine with me

The Exchange

N Male Tiefling Wizard (Bloatmage) 11

The ants lash out at the enemies they are flanking.

The Exchange

N Male Tiefling Wizard (Bloatmage) 11

Gaius once again casts his mind into the Great Beyond, calling out allies to aid them.

As he completes his spell 1d3 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4 giant ants burst from the ground to assault their enemies.

Fort save: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8

After which he begins to gulp lungfuls of air. Phew, this is a bit of work...

The Exchange

N Male Tiefling Wizard (Bloatmage) 11

Gaius shrugs and heads out with the rest. On the way out he may suggest to any other punters hanging around that now might be a great chance to make some money or gain some advancement by robbing Lura blind while she is unconscious. Thugs like her dont let things like this stop them but if she is too busy trying to recover her position she wont have time to threaten our alchemist friend and if one of her ex customers slits her throat so much the better. This is afterall Bloodcove.

The Exchange

N Male Tiefling Wizard (Bloatmage) 11

Well now, I think this is what we need. What do we want to do with Lura here?

The Exchange

N Male Tiefling Wizard (Bloatmage) 11

Gaius starts rifling through the various shelves, pocketing the occasional bottle.

Aha, what's this? A locked box. Maybe we dont need our sleeping friend over there.

However, he is not so incautious as to go grabbing someones hidden stash without checking it out first.

He casts a quick detect magic to check for dangerous auras and looks it over for traps forst.

Perception: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (12) + 11 = 23

If all looks clear he will break out his tools and try to pick the lock.

Disable: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (9) + 9 = 18

The Exchange

N Male Tiefling Wizard (Bloatmage) 11

Perception: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (13) + 11 = 24

Gaius takes a look around while wandering over the ceiling.

He shouts down to the customers, You lot should probably head home to your families he shouts as he directs his elementals to herd people outside.

Diplomacy: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (10) + 19 = 29

Someone might want to wakeup the wannabe summoner and ask her where this cure is. Best secure her first.

The Exchange

N Male Tiefling Wizard (Bloatmage) 11

And my elementals are doing nonlethal damage

The Exchange

N Male Tiefling Wizard (Bloatmage) 11

Gaius scuttles across the ceiling with his magically enhanced abilities and quicly casts a spell. As he does so another 1d3 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4 small earth elementals appear and surround the caster.

Terran:
Beat that woman unconscious!

Casting summon monster 3

Fort save: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21

The Exchange

N Male Tiefling Wizard (Bloatmage) 11

As Kahwen heads over there Gaius moves up the walls into the rafters of the roof, trying to keep out of the way of any trouble.

Stealth: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14

The Exchange

N Male Tiefling Wizard (Bloatmage) 11

Diplomacy: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (2) + 19 = 21

The Exchange

N Male Tiefling Wizard (Bloatmage) 11

As the battlee subsides Gaius leans heavily on the counter, panting. He waves at the small elemental in thanks as it sinks into the ground and vanishes.

Could someone use one of these scrolls on me please, I am feeling a wee bit tired.

Thorur could you activate a lesser restoration scroll for me please?

While the others look after the boy Gaius busiees himself dealing with the remaining thugs. He draws a wand of infernal healing and activates it on the dying one, making sure to have disarmed him fully and manacling him. He might provie a useful hostage and even if not there's no sense in pointless death...

Casting a quick detect magic spell he looks over the thugs gear to see if anything might be useful.

+12 on spellcraft to identify, taking 10 if possible (there is table variation on whether or not you can do so

At the mention of the antidote he asks, do you have any of the bottles remaining, even a small sample might reveal something

If he does he will examine the remains

Craft alchemy: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (10) + 10 = 20

On learning about the infection he says, Here, try one of those lesser restoration scrolls on the lad, it wont end the disease but it should keep him alive long enough for us to do what is needed. You might use one of these as well he says holding out an antiplague.

So, how far away is this Sanguine Pit and what sort of muscle does this woman have?

Before we enter the place Gaius will use his wands of mage armour, shield and heightened awareness and cast spider climb on himself.

The Exchange

N Male Tiefling Wizard (Bloatmage) 11

You dont gave to roll a separate grapple check to do nonlethal damage, your maintain roll serves as the CMB check for the round although if you want to do nonlethal damage you probably have to take -4 to that roll

Gaius calls out to the elemental in Terran.

Terran:
Get over there and beat that enemy unconscious.

The Exchange

N Male Tiefling Wizard (Bloatmage) 11

Gaius ducks around the counter and quickly casts another summoning spell, conjuring up a single earth elemental to occupy the lone thug.

Move to get away, standard to cast summon monster 2

Fort save: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7

after which he starts breathing heavily.

Now exhausted

The Exchange

N Male Tiefling Wizard (Bloatmage) 11

Gaius continues his ruse of being a simple merchant as they travel.

Dilomacy: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (5) + 19 = 24

Before they enter the shop, given they are in Bloodcover, he activates his wand of heightened awareness.

Heading to the shopkeep he smiles and says, Hello, we are here to collect a rather large order, do you have the time to sort us out right now?

The Exchange

N Male Tiefling Wizard (Bloatmage) 11

Gaius sighs slightly at the willingness of his allies to give away the society's hard earned coin. Yes, of course, we would be happy to forgo the discount provided the shipment is complete and ready to go and that we are able to trade with you in the future on favourable terms...

Diplomacy: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (13) + 19 = 32

The Exchange

N Male Tiefling Wizard (Bloatmage) 11

Gaius cautiously heads into the room, taking quite a bit of a detour around the doctor. Ugh, necromancy, and people call me a monster...

He heads over and has a look at the tunnel. I suspect this is how our ant friends have been getting in. We should probably fill it in.

With that he taps himself with a wand (heightened awareness) and peers into the hole while consulting some journals from his pack.

Engineering if relevant, HA, chronicle: 1d20 + 10 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 10 + 2 + 2 = 22

Turning to the elementals he grumbles at them in Terran.

Terran:
Ok, time to earn your pay, get to filling in this hole as best you can.

The elementals will be around for another 5 rounds or so

The Exchange

N Male Tiefling Wizard (Bloatmage) 11

Gaius pokes his head around the door and shouts out to the elementals in Terran.

Terran:
Go get the any at the end of the room

The Exchange

N Male Tiefling Wizard (Bloatmage) 11

Gaius begins to chant quickly, weaving arcane sigils around himself as he casts his mind out into the inner planes. Where are you, come to me now, serve me

As he completes his incantation 1d3 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2 earth elementals appear around the nearest ant and strike out at it.

Acadamae Graduatte Fortitude save: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16

After which he steps back panting heavily.

Casting smmon monster 3 as a standard action, I fail the fort save on acadamae graduate and am therefore fatigued

The Exchange

N Male Tiefling Wizard (Bloatmage) 11

Looks like these ants have carried off a bunch of barrels. Seems a bit odd. says Gaius as he looks around for signs of living ants.

The Exchange

N Male Tiefling Wizard (Bloatmage) 11

Gaius peers into the darkness with his fiendishly granted sigt.

Perception: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (7) + 11 = 18

The Exchange

N Male Tiefling Wizard (Bloatmage) 11

If we are going into the warehouse to clear out these ants Gaius will make some defensive prepartions. He will activate wands of mage armour, shield and heightened awareness and activate a scroll of mirror image for 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5 images. He always expends heightened awareness and spends a temporal pool point to boost his initiative.

The Exchange

N Male Tiefling Wizard (Bloatmage) 11

Perhaps we can help directly, we each possess a range of useful skills and we do have our trusty bodyguard here.

The Exchange

N Male Tiefling Wizard (Bloatmage) 11

Let us make haste friends before our goods begin to spoil in this heat...

Diplomacy: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (16) + 19 = 35

The Exchange

N Male Tiefling Wizard (Bloatmage) 11

Gaius perks up from the other side of the room, Well, the man made a prior committment to us, why dont you leave him be, no point ruining a man you might do business with in the fuure now is there. That way theres no future profit possible.

Diplomacy: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (19) + 19 = 38

The Exchange

N Male Tiefling Wizard (Bloatmage) 11

Gaius slips into the room and unobtrusively takes a seat at one of the tables to watch what is happening.

I am on the map

The Exchange

N Male Tiefling Wizard (Bloatmage) 11

Does that mean we are 7?

The Exchange

N Male Tiefling Wizard (Bloatmage) 11

Gaius adjustts his hat and suddently his clothes change as he assumes the appearance of a well dressed merchant.

Using hat of disguise.

The Exchange

N Male Tiefling Wizard (Bloatmage) 11

You can retrain hp using the rules in ultimate campaign

The Exchange

N Male Tiefling Wizard (Bloatmage) 11

Gaius leans against a tree and luxuriates in the warmth. He is a tall, thin, deep red skinned tiefling dressed in a loose fitting explorers outfit. An obviously magical haversack hangs over his shoulder. Aah, this is more like it. I hate it when they send us to cold places.

As Ridely starts quaffing potions he digs into his pack and hands him a variety of tomes.

Here, these might help as well

Gaius has a pathfinder chronicle for each knowledge skill, they give +2 if you have time to consult them

As a member of the Exchange I can probably masquerade as a merchant as well. I do have a way with words when I need to.

Gaiuse has substantial bluff and diplomacy skills

The Exchange

N Male Tiefling Wizard (Bloatmage) 11

OK, I have made a few purchases, should be up to date.

I would be interested but I only have this level 5 available.

The Exchange

N Male Tiefling Wizard (Bloatmage) 11

Thanks very much for running. I think chronicles where you scribe spells are supposed to note those spells on the chronicle with a GM signature. I am fine with not here as I can always point to this thread in the unlikely event of an audit.

The Exchange

Boon: 1d20 ⇒ 10

Gaius will happily chat with them about their time in Nidal, he is always interested to learn about strange new places he hasnt visited yet and the potential for trade with them or perhaps the opportunity to supply these newcomers to Kaer Maga.

Taking 10 to identfiy new potential business prospect with Local for season 8 faction card. DC is 20, taking 10 gets him 22.

The Exchange

N Male Tiefling Wizard (Bloatmage) 11

Gaius also peers into the new room, activating detect magic as he does so.

Spellcraft, good hope: 1d20 + 10 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 10 + 2 = 14

He also looks out for more mundane enemies or threats.

Perception, good hope: 1d20 + 11 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 11 + 2 = 16

Before we move into the room Gaius maneuvers himself onto the ceiling with his spider climbing ability and reactivates his wands of shield and heightened awareness.

The Exchange

N Male Tiefling Wizard (Bloatmage) 11

Elemental save: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (7) - 1 = 6
Gaius hit?: 1d20 ⇒ 2

If Ambrus has grabbed the kobold Gaius will order the elemental to leave it alone.

The Exchange

N Male Tiefling Wizard (Bloatmage) 11

Gaius simply observes from his position on the wall.

This encounter seems to be largely over so not using any more resources on it

The Exchange

N Male Tiefling Wizard (Bloatmage) 11

From his position on the wall Gaius snaps his fingers at the Kobold fighting Agalych and it is briefly obscured by shadows which try to invade its tiny mind.

Casting Daze at Black, DC16 will save to negate

The Exchange

N Male Tiefling Wizard (Bloatmage) 11

I only need the one thanks, the second will have to wait until after this fight.

Agalych wrote:
Gaius was already fatigued (from the deathtrap summons)... does this move you to exhausted?

Good catch, yes it does. Could anyone have activated a lesser resto scroll before we moved on?

The Exchange

N Male Tiefling Wizard (Bloatmage) 11

I suggest Abram takes the haste potion. If no-one objects I will take and use the spider climb potion. I have a spider climb prepped as well if anyone wants one.

Spellcraft: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (14) + 10 = 24

Hmm, sytrange, I wonder what this means...a mystery for another time perhaps

Gaius will have renewed his shield wand again as it has probably run out

Knowledge: 1d20 ⇒ 11
Planes +16, all others +12

Seeing an enemy spell caster Gaius quickly weaves a spell of summoning to distract them.

Summon Monster 2 summoning a small earth elemental to threaten the caster (I assume the one towards the back)

Fort save DC17: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14

Following which Gaius scurries up the side of the wall, moving slowly as his magic has taxed him.

Gaius is now fatigued, can anyone activate a scroll of lesser restoration?

The Exchange

N Male Tiefling Wizard (Bloatmage) 11

Take 10 on perception for 21

Hm, I wonder what these do..

Spellcraft on scroll: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (15) + 10 = 25
Perception, potion 1: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (10) + 11 = 21
Perception, potion 2: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (17) + 11 = 28

Assuming people are ready to move on

Gaius heads up to the northern exit and back into the main chamber. He peers into the northern passageway.

Perception: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (1) + 11 = 12

The Exchange

N Male Tiefling Wizard (Bloatmage) 11

I suggest we stay away from the cliff, there seems to be something up there.

Gaius mutters a quick spell and his eyes begin to glow as he searches the area for magic and tries to work out what this "gravity trap" might be.

Knowledge: 1d20 ⇒ 10
Planes is +16, all others +12

He also peers into the opening next to him and listens caefully.

Perception: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (20) + 11 = 31

If it seems clear he will start heading down it. This opening seems clear, lets explore, these people need finding.

The Exchange

N Male Tiefling Wizard (Bloatmage) 11

As the lowbie of the group I think I have had more than a good enough chance to contribute.

:)

The Exchange

N Male Tiefling Wizard (Bloatmage) 11

Gaius bids his elemental servants a good trip home and gives them a simple bow. Well, that turned out to be quite effective.

As Agalych leaps back he raises an eyebrow, Is there a problem? he asks.

Looking ahead he suggests, I think perhaps we should explore the rest of this cavern, it seems to go on for quite some distance.

Before they set off he reactivates his wands of shield and heightened awareness.

The Exchange

N Male Tiefling Wizard (Bloatmage) 11

Round 1 I summoned, round 2 I just moved away. I don't want to waste any more spell slots on this, the elementals seem to be doing well enough.
