![]() I have a natural swim speed of 30', spells that grant underwater breathing and a swim speed (but only 6 castings total), and 3 Potions of Waterbreathing. So between spells and potions I can set up myself and 4 others with swimming and breathing, with one 1st level spell left over. ![]()

![]() It occurs to me that I should put it out there that Devon has been crazy busy packing house and moving for the last week. We should get the last of his stuff moved tomorrow, but it may be a couple more days before we have any forward motion here. Sorry for not posting something sooner. It's been an exhausting and hot several days. ![]()

![]() I would say that this one action, taken individually, is not evil in and of itself. However, the propensity to take that sort of action over the long term does trend in an evil direction. Of course—and were Hassan conscious he'd say as much—it would have been a pretty simple matter to tie up the survivors, elect a new captain, run 'em through a nice quick trial, and hang 'em for being the murderous sea dogs they were. Nice and legal-like. ;-) ![]()

![]() For any actions Hassan might take during the next 3 weeks, he would generally continue to play himself up to the crew at large as a simpering coward who would rather talk than fight, and try to make inroads with any of the officers who might bend a favorable ear towards him. Particularly if he thought it would get him lighter labor (and maybe put that Appraise skill to work). Let's see how I do for hit points. I'm adding 1 hp for favored class. 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5 ![]()

![]() From what I understand (and I hope I'm not overstepping my bounds here), there is this thing going around and around the town in which Devon and I live, which is some combination of head/chest cold and sinus infection which simply enters into your body and lingers for weeks. Which is to say that Devon (and his family, all of whom have been suffering this affliction) have been feeling some variety of s!~#ty for days on end, but it is unlikely to be anything more dire than what can reasonably be cured with some variety of pills, potions, and unguents as many be acquired from the local apophacary, coupled with copious amounts of bed rest. But I will inform him of your well wishes, if he has not at least checked the board himself, already. ![]()

![]() Man, that Rum is hell of nasty. 3 Con damage, Another -2 if I don't drink the Rum again tomorrow, and Hassan is addicted so the DC against addiction goes up by +2 every time he drinks it, as long as he is still suffering from the Con damage. On a purely mechanic basis, though, I'm confused about how the rum works. Because regardless of whether you make your save or not you still take the 1d3 Con damage... so if everyone is drinking this stuff each night, how is the crew not all dead of Con damage within a week or two? ![]()

Not since 5e came in and ruined them. From what I understand the new codex made them kinda awesome again, but my 40k days are mostly behind me. I sold some of the figures off, but I still have most of them. Anyhoo, I'm not really much for hero points. I like the occasional random hand of fate stepping in. I do like the idea of that permanent injuries thing... peg legs and eye patches and such. ![]()

![]() Okay, game stats worked out. I decided to go for the Seaborn Bloodline after all. It's just kind of useful as heck, and after looking it over there isn't that much overlap with an Aquatic Druid (except for a couple of spells that are generally useful to the whole party). ![]() Okay, here's my character bio. Game stats to come. Hassan Al-Quorri ibn Salaam ibn Fakar
Description and Bio (Long): Appearance: A young man, swarthy skinned, with sharp features, nut-brown eyes, and a tousled mop of black hair. His grin is wider than his face would seem to comfortably contain. He wears patched cotton trousers, sandals, and a sleeveless blue jerkin, embroidered with gold thread. He has a large golden hoop earring through his left ear, and a gold tooth. Detectable only under close examination is the suggestion of a goatee.
History: My father was a soldier, who rose high quickly, and was cast down even faster. The tale my mother told was that he died on his feet, surrounded by the bodies of a hundred attackers. He angered the wrong people, and sold his life dearly. The night my father died, my mother and I fled Katheer with two camels, whatever valuables we could carry, and our lives. My mother was a good wife, from a good family, but the life of an outlaw was not one she was suited for. Within two turns of the moon what little valuables we had were gone. Within six, so was she. I never knew if she was caught by soldiers, kidnapped and sold into slavery, or simply wandered away in search of a better life. So that was that. From the age of seven I was a street rat, a gutter rat, a wharf rat... basically any place that you find rats, there was I. But that was not my fate. No son of Fakar could spend all his life as a nobody. Destiny has a way of picking her favorite sons. At the age of twelve my magic began to manifest. For a while I was a thief, stealing trinkets from fat merchants. Later I worked in a circus. I’ve been a smuggler, a scribe, and even a tax-collector (we all have to take jobs we don’t like, from time to time—have faith, little of the gold I collected made its way into the pockets of the Satrap). Anywhere a tricky spell or a spelling trick could fetch a warm meal and a soft bed, there was I. I recently found myself in a bit of trouble with the city guards, and so I thought it expedient to take a job on a merchant vessel, ferrying this and that from here to there. A good, honest (mostly) life on the open sea. I’ve put in to every port from Kapatesh to Port Peril. But that was not my fate, either. Alas, the boat was sunk. Denied the precious cargo they so desired, the pirates who attacked us decided to take a few slaves instead. And thus I find myself before you. Destiny, it seems, is not yet finished with me. |
