There are dozens of us in Aotearoa, dozens!

Though very curious to see what might change
The odds of Secrets of Magic getting a reprint in its current state are low. Considering:
1. Several pages of lore regarding the old D&D schools of magic that are no longer valid.
2. Several of the options presented in the book have been reprinted in other books:
- Elementalist got reprinted in RoE
- Runelord is set to appear in Rival Academies
- Several spells got reprinted across Player Core and Player Core 2.
If they have to replace the reprinted/OGL content, we would be looking at a completely different book.
Then again, what do I know? I don't know, but something tells me because so much of the Secrets of Magic material has already been incorporated into the Core books, is it possible the upcoming "Impossible" book might not contain just the two new classes we are playtesting, but also might contain remastered versions of the Magus and Summoner? I mean if a remaster of SoM is redundant, it would make more sense to incorporate them in the new book, especially since we have no idea what the book is about except possibly Impossible Lands, which themselves are excellent areas where Magus and Summoner might hail from I think some people might get annoyed with a 'reprint' of an old class in a new book, even if it has been remastered. Especially something like Summoner which takes up a decent chunk of space!
Anything fun in the back matter?

I really like panache on failure, even if you are looking to hold on to panache. It will let you add bonuses to your panache skills, this increasing the chances of extending it's duration, and the way I read it, all your skill abilities which currently give panache will get the bravado trait when used by the swashbuckler.
But I could be misreading!

What about pantheons like in Last Wall book? Not only Pantheons but also Covenants which are a way to access divine power without worshipping a god, by the sounds of it.

Though, the opinions on the forums seem to be more broadly positive regarding the commander, so the guardian could use the extra positive fanfare and hints of improvements prior to release.
Since I wrote the guardian and have been paying attention to its criticism, I did think that it could use a little boost in positivity!
But I had a commander in each of the two playtests I mentioned, both of which performed admirably. Both players happened to make mounted commanders, though only one was interested in using the mount to joust! In the first combat with the lower-level commander (mounted on a big goat), he granted an extra attack to the fighter, who, along with a critical Reactive Strike, dealt somewhere between 40 and 60 damage with reactions! The higher-level commander focused on Piranha Formation to help the party ignore the resistance of an adamantine dragon and then dealt a pretty decisive blow with his lance!
So, yeah, commanders are able to effectively do their jobs! I am enjoying my Guardian so far - really looking forward to seeing where it goes next.

I admit... this one doesn't feel like it had the same impact as the last. Like... Erastil wasn't really on anyone's list
Thus far we've had...
N, LE, CG, NE, NG
My guess is that from here it's going to go CE, LG, CN, LN and then... probably back to N for the last? That's my guess, anyway.
At the halfway point we're up to one per row. it wouldn't surprise me if we hit two per row by the end.
What are these random pairs of letters?

I am seriously debating getting the book in both hardcover for quick, easy reference at my table and the PDF for updates that come. When they release a new physical version, the pdf will be updated to match. You will not have to purchase another copy to have access to the updated pdf.
Until they release a new physical edition, errata will continue to be separate from the pdf. Archives of Nethys *does* update with errata sooner though, so it undoubtedly the best reference. Hence it being the system reference document ;)
Foundry said they will have a list of changes, also, so I'm guessing Paizo must have one to hand to gift us...

Guntermench wrote: Counterspelling is kind of a pain in the butt anyway.
You, as far as I can tell, have to guess what the spell you're countering is and pray. Since Recognize a Spell is a reaction, Quick Recognition makes that a free action, but Counterspell is also a reaction. You can only use action action per trigger, so you can't do multiple of them at once.
since you need a spell equipped to counter it, it should be covered by the below rule and have no need for Recognise Spell.
"If you notice a spell being cast, and you have prepared that spell or have it in your repertoire, you automatically know what the spell is, including the level to which it is heightened."

My suspicion is we will see reprinted the 40 archetypes plus the eight multiclass archetypes. A few seem possible for name changes, but I don't think we'll see any new archetypes. Swashbuckler and Oracle didn't have multiclass archetypes? :p

Seems everyone missed the Ignition cantrip, which will work just great for Magi in place of Shocking Grasp?
I think that Warrior Muse will get Medium Armor proficiency from their bard, maybe with a little something something on the side like Shield Block. A nice little boost to their defence, allowing them to focus less on defence and make it so they can unlock Sentinel for Heavy Armour if their dream is to play a big man in a big suit who bangs on his shield to inspire his allies.

Thinking about what they could give the Warrior Bard instead of Martial Weapons now all bards are getting martial weapons... Medium Armor? Do they view that as sort of 'equivalent'. It would definitely open some builds.
This means Senti can get you heavy too if you wanna be a chonk bard standing behind your buddies with a long spear

Personally I like that they aren't just doing a find and replace of D&D names but actually trying something new.

"Each new armor is described in this section. Clothing isn’t armor, but if it has a Dex cap it can accept fundamental and property runes. The most common apparel of this sort is explorer’s clothing (Core Rulebook 275), but this book adds new options."
(Hope it is okay to add that as it will be on Nethys shortly anyway)

You are all KINGS / QUEENS / NON-BIANRY MONARCHS I love you!
Just a heads up the backmatter from Ghost King's Rage is now uploaded to Archives of Nethys.

keftiu wrote: Again, player Fleshwarps just got a lot of love (while mutants broadly got a sensitivity sidebar) in the newest Lost Omens book. You’re fear-mongering about something that has been proven to be a non-issue, and about a “vocal minority” who have completely failed to materialize. Why?
EDIT: For posterity’s sake:
Lost Omens: Impossible Lands, page 332 wrote: Aberrant, not Ableist!
The trope of the mutant is a common one in speculative fiction but often draws deeply on concepts that fear and mock anyone with an appearance that falls outside of a perceived norm. When creating a mutant, be careful to avoid any traits that might match real-world deformities or disabilities that people might have—a giant wolf mouth in the middle of a mutant’s stomach is okay, but having a simple withered limb or a swollen face might be inappropriate for a mutant character.
Indeed, and I see nothing there that would suggest tentacles or a Mr. Hyde mutagenist build for an Alchemist would be off limits. Seems they may have just not have got around to it, or there isn't as much interest in aberrations and tentacles as a vocal minority seem to believe.
Ravingdork wrote: FormerFiend wrote: I'm taking a look at alchemist for the first time and I'm sorely disappointed that they seem to have lost a lot of the more bizarre, mad science/body horror elements 1e alchemists had. Maybe I'm just not looking in the right places but I can't seem to find anything for tentacles, preserved organs, tumor familiars, vestigial limbs, all that good stuff. Can we get all that back? I would like to have all that back. As a fan of body horror, I would love to get it all back. Sadly, I doubt we will see it in this social-political atmosphere. It would be seen by a vocal minority as an affront to those with real world disabilities, birth defects, or mutations. Some of the spells in Blood Lords AP have been fairly squick if you're into that sort of thing.

Honestly, Helloknights are *really* not to my taste, but I'll consume just about any Lost Omens book they throw my way.
Looking forward to this one. Hope to see some building upon the Pirate archetype and a bunch of stuff for my beloved Swashbuckler.

Ooh, that reads like an Emergency Force Sphere spell ;D

Ah that makes sense - in that case my apologies for the misunderstanding.

I don't feel like I've ever heard about it), but at least the Daikyu has an identity now. It is +2 damage bonus if you have Point Blank Shot, which could be nice.
No it does not - the Order Explorer feat does not state that you get an extra focus point so you would only get one if the feat you picked said that it does.
Even the order spell feat only says that it gives you a focus point if you don't already have one.
