Male Battle Dwarf 1/ Daredevil, Battle Skald Bard

I wouldn't mind a little pvp side brawl, you know, just while we're waiting. We Are playing evil characters after all! We could call it a dream sequence! Maybe to be fair we could say that we each find X amount of gold? Or all our original equipment before we do?

Male Battle Dwarf 1/ Daredevil, Battle Skald Bard

Thumbs up from the violent drunken dwarf!

PS is the module available online anywhere? Might help a willing DM who doesn't have the module

Male Battle Dwarf 1/ Daredevil, Battle Skald Bard

Cool. Good luck dude.

Anyone want to take on the task of finding a new DM? Xereth?? ; )

Male Battle Dwarf 1/ Daredevil, Battle Skald Bard

Looking forward to bashing some heads soon, Dogar slaps his cudgel into the palm of his meaty hand "If'n I don't find somethin' tae drink soon, I'm gonna kill somebody! Ha! Who am I kiddin', I'm gonna kill someone anyway!"

Continuing to follow the sneaky types at the front, the dwarf also continues to look for anything alcoholic to drink.

Ah, ok, and so no armor at all then?

Male Battle Dwarf 1/ Daredevil, Battle Skald Bard

Map could be bigger so we can tell what the icons are maybe. Other than that, looks good.

Still with an eye to find some alchohal, Dogar searches every room he enters, and any body he comes across or helps create.

So, just to be clear, is Dogar still just stuck with the dagger then? What was taken off the guards and who got it?

Male Battle Dwarf 1/ Daredevil, Battle Skald Bard

Huh, "Six Degrees Of Texas"? Lived in Dallas for 6 months. Was alright. BIG city, almost impossible to get around without a vehicle.

Male Battle Dwarf 1/ Daredevil, Battle Skald Bard

yup here

Male Battle Dwarf 1/ Daredevil, Battle Skald Bard

"Wuh?" Dogar shakes his head, coming out of one of his occasional stupors "Damn it! What'd I miss!"

Seeing the now two dead guards and the large Orge in their midst, keeping an eye on the giant humanoid Dogar makes his way to the guards, searching them througholy for anything of value, particularly armor, weapons, gold and keys. And booze! Perception take 20=26

Once satisfied that neither body retains anything of value, Dogar moves along after the rest, moving as quietly as he can. However being distracted once again by the Ogre, he accidentally knocks over a chair.
Stealth: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3

"Hey! Watch where ye place them oversized feet o'yers! Ye big lump o' dog meat!" as he tries to fully put the blame on the Orge.
Bluff: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 13

When the woman mentions the rendezvous with their benefactor once they've escaped he answers angrily "I don't follow no Lord, 'Dark' nor otherwise. But I'll come to yer little meeting, as I always been one tae pay my debts." the glare in his eye clearly indicating that he is referring to more than one kind of debt.

Male Battle Dwarf 1/ Daredevil, Battle Skald Bard

As a suggestion to perhaps aid in the recently stated problem of running combats in a manner which leads to minimum confusion and delay and such, I recommend the format laid out in this post HERE

This format or something very similar is used in several games that I am in and through many battles over a considerable period of time and it has proven to be quite effective and the best I have personally come across thus far in several years of PbP gaming.

Male Battle Dwarf 1/ Daredevil, Battle Skald Bard

If the guard was dead or near to before Dogar acted, I'll just save his spell.

Curious as to what the interferrin' female was up, Dogar follows, not bothering to be particulaily stealthy at all.

Male Battle Dwarf 1/ Daredevil, Battle Skald Bard

Growling at his displeasure at not being more involved in the fight, nevertheless his desire to escape is even stronger and so Dogar calls on his limited magic ability. Singing out a certain phrase and gesture with his hands, he causes a thick grease to form on the guard's horn. When finished, he then dashes out into the hallway, to stand and keep watch that the struggle does not summon more guards.

DC14 Ref to not drop the horn

And what happened to the map??

Male Battle Dwarf 1/ Daredevil, Battle Skald Bard

Initiative: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 1 = 14
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14
Attack w/dagger: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
Damage: 1d4 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7

Dogar grabs the blade under his thigh and leaps up to slice the guard's throat but at that moment the damn female leaps up and gets all snapity and kickity in his face, causing his dagger strike to miss wildly.

Swearing epithets at her, he briefly considers using his dagger on her, for ruining his fight. But then he recalls that she seems to have some powerful connections, so killing, now anyway, might not be wise.

Growling, the wild-eyed dwarf turns back to the fight.

Male Battle Dwarf 1/ Daredevil, Battle Skald Bard

Didn't Xrezth ask Rengar to give the veil back? Is Rengar refusing to do so?

Male Battle Dwarf 1/ Daredevil, Battle Skald Bard

Unable to contain his laughter, Dogar guffaws loudly, and adds "O' course yer sister though, now there was one peach of a ride, if ya know what I mean. Ha! And ye probably do!" and his grin remains large on his face as he readies himself for the guard to enter.

If I can make a readied action now, Dogor readies himself to grab the dagger under his leg and jam it into the guard's throat as soon as the man come near enough. Of course if something else happens or more than one guard comes in, I may have to revise that action

Male Battle Dwarf 1/ Daredevil, Battle Skald Bard

"Good enough for me." Dogar grunts. He then takes one of the daggers and hides it under his leg as he sits, pretending like the others to still be shackled.

As thinks on and plots his revenge he occasionally chuckles quietly to himself

Male Battle Dwarf 1/ Daredevil, Battle Skald Bard

Shaking his limbs to get circulation back into them Dogar grins wickedly in eager anticipation of the bloodshed to soon ensue. Briefly glancing at the big barbarian he agrees "I'll take one o' them weapons. But yes, it may be better tae git them in here n' open tha cell door for us. Tha bottom line is, we want tae take 'em out without sounding tha alarm. Any o' you have a way we kin do that?"

Salsa, can you give us an idea on the map of where the guards are?

Male Battle Dwarf 1/ Daredevil, Battle Skald Bard

Dogar's eyes light up as the lockpicks manifest and the prospect of his getting revenge on those who had betrayed him, and even those who hadn't yet, suddenly seems a very real possibility. Urging his fellow captives on he whispers "Yes! What'er yer gonna do, do it quickly now! Get me outta these damn cuffs and i'll help ye git free o' this damn prison!"

Male Battle Dwarf 1/ Daredevil, Battle Skald Bard

"Why dinnae ye tell us what that thing be n' wat ye see then lass"

Perception DC15:

"Ye daft broad..."

He finishes, mumbling more to himself

Male Battle Dwarf 1/ Daredevil, Battle Skald Bard

Sensing something significant is up, Dogar nods barely perceptiably. But his eyes are glued on the female human, as her stares at her intensely, watcing her every move.

Male Battle Dwarf 1/ Daredevil, Battle Skald Bard

Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20

Dogar sneers at the guards as they make their threats but stays silent for now. He may not be the smartest of the bunch, but he is wise enough to know not to waste his strength when it will do him no good.

Chuckling slightly to himself as the big barbarian gets beat, he times horking a big lugie to just miss one of the guards as they are leaving.

And, also, as everyone knows, Dwarves Kick Ass, Frequently. So just you wait till I get me out of these handcuffs!

Male Battle Dwarf 1/ Daredevil, Battle Skald Bard

Ok, picked his other feat-Eschew Materials = D

He's really not the type to be using little bits of fluff and such to cast a spell, so it actually really fits (as well as coming in handy ; )

1 person marked this as a favorite.
Male Battle Dwarf 1/ Daredevil, Battle Skald Bard

A What now??

Male Battle Dwarf 1/ Daredevil, Battle Skald Bard

Well, we still gets to have our normal 1st level feat, right?

Male Battle Dwarf 1/ Daredevil, Battle Skald Bard

Ok cool thanks. And what's up with the two extra skill points per level or whatever?

And thanks for the breakdown Dashuuuun (and ACCIDENTALLY forgetitng, then remembering, Dogar ; )

Male Battle Dwarf 1/ Daredevil, Battle Skald Bard

Ok, so it looks/ssems to me that those of us who were not gagged for spellcasting might still be able to cast spells, as long as they do not have a Somatic or Material component (ie Just Verbal). Dogar is much more of a fighter than a caster, so he wouldn't have tried casting spells while they captured him, but Dogar doesn't have any spells that fit into that catagory, so...

Chuckling to himself and occasionally spitting blood, Dogar first sees if he can break the manacles or chains binding him, and if that fails, tries escaping out of them by other means.
Strength check: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
Escape Artist: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12

How close are we to each other? Any chance of Aid Another attempts or the like?

Male Battle Dwarf 1/ Daredevil, Battle Skald Bard

So, hey, is Dogar missing any feats or traits? It's just one feat, one trait and the crime trait (for non-humans anyway) right?

Looking at some of the other sheets though I feel like I'm missing something.

Male Battle Dwarf 1/ Daredevil, Battle Skald Bard

Dogar's thoughts and feelings are expressed much more vocally than most of the others, as he utters a constant stream of vile curses and threats at his jailers, taunting them and tormenting them, even through the beatings. Eventually, they quit simply out of exhaustion, leaving a battered and bruised, but still conscious, smiling and victorious dwarf laughing at thier backs as they leave.
Non-Leathal Damage: 3d6 ⇒ (5, 2, 1) = 8

So before I attempt any breakout, just to be clear, can we cast any spells or not?

Um, I'm not sure if this is really the format for you to discuss your and Dashuun's dating misadventures Xrezth...just sayin'

Male Battle Dwarf 1/ Daredevil, Battle Skald Bard

Ditto.

And @Dashuun: You did know that I was completely funnin' with Dogar's response to your wee dig at him, right??

What would you guys think if I went human, but took the alternate trait where I lose the extra feat and skilled, but get two stats at +2. Which would be better as a monk:

Str 20 and Wis 19 and no feat or extra skill point
or
Str 18 and Wis 19 with an extra feat and extra skill point per level.

+1/+1 attack/damage is a nice bonus, but is it worth the feat + skills. Most likely level 1 skill would be Improved Init (mine is currently +5).

Personally I like fetchling or dhampir, but with -2 Wis on fetchling and -2 Con on dhampir, it just is really bad as a monk.

I would think that you think about this stuff waaaaaaaay too much.

Just sayin' ; ]

Sorry, I feel like I may have started the rerolling fiasco.

I can handle a 25-point buy or a GM roll.

DM Salsa specifically said I could re-roll.

I'm quite happy with the last roll, but if everyone will be happier with 25 point buy that will be ok too.

I guess the pertinent question is, is anyone particularly Unhappy with their dice rolls?

Male Battle Dwarf 1/ Daredevil, Battle Skald Bard

I'll try rolling once more...

1d10 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16
1d10 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12
1d10 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17
1d10 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15

I can live with that! : )

17
15
18 (16+2 race)
8
14 (12+2 race)
16 (18-2 race)

Character finished! Ready and Raring to go!

EDIT: Oh, I saw this in the other recruitment thread:
Skills: Each character will receive two additional Skill Points at each level.

Feats: Each character will receive an additional non-combat feat at first level. Approval of such feats are subject to GM approval.

Is that part of the AP and are we going with that, or was that the DM's personal addition?

Also, anything else missing or wrong with Dogar?

Would you allow me to make this a weapon for my character?

Hidden Blade (assassin's creed!)
A retractable blade hidden within an ornate gauntlet that can be deployed with a tug on a string attached to a ring on the wearer's finger.
Damage 1d6/1d4
Critical 18-20 x2
Unless seen before, the blade is always considered concealed and may be extended as a swift action. Also, the blade only does 1d6 if used in a sneak attack, otherwise it uses 1d4.
Thoughts? I wouldn't mind having a gauntlet on my left arm too that has a retractable hook to give me a bonus to climb =D I'ma be a high charisma ninja.

Ahh, aren't we starting in a prison with Nada?

Or are you talking something you want to craft later on?

Dashuun: Second set is a go.

Dogar: Use the first set. Dashuun got a reroll because his first set of rolls was a 15-point buy, this method is supposed to Average out to a 25-point buy, so your first set is well with in the power curve.

Sorry, you feel 2 8's, three in total, is well within the power curve?

That works out to a 23 point buy...

With Racial
STR 15
DEX 14
CON 10
INT 8
WIS 10
CHR 16

Certainly one of the worst ability stats I've played with, but Meh. Whatever. Do I still have a choice to choose a 25 point buy?

Male Battle Dwarf 1/ Daredevil, Battle Skald Bard

Sorry, haven't paid too much attention to this thread past few days.

I mean to just take Dogar through the new AP

Makes sense he'll just go with pretty much the same background, so this works:

Attempted Murder
You tried to kill someone and botched the job. To be
sent to Branderscar Prison, you did not try to kill just
anyone. You likely assaulted someone of great
importance and prominence.
Punishment: Death by beheading
Benefit: You gain a +2 trait bonus to Intimidate
checks, and Intimidate is always a class
skill for you.

And here's the rolls:

1d10 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8
1d10 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15
1d10 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14
1d10 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8

Wow, that's really terrible! TWO 1's out of four rolls? Seems like deserves a reroll, no?

1d10 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16
1d10 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14
1d10 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15
1d10 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13

That's much better, if acceptable I'll go with those.

So with Foible, should look like this, after Racial adjustments:

STR 16
DEX 14
CON 17
INT 8
WIS 15
CHR 16

Which seems almost exactly dead on, based on how I picture him ; ^ P

And so what else? Can the Background trait be from anywhere? Anything else I'm missing, need to change?

DM-Salsa wrote:

Okay, Well that settles that.

The priestess starts to pull herself off the blade and make a quick retreat. One hand holds her chain while the other reaches for a potion on her belt. Before she can get off the blade though, Lauran moves up and finds the hole in one of the rings of her chainmail. A small squeak of a cough brings up a little blood, another brings up even more. Her knees buckle and she slides off the two blades to the ground.

** spoiler omitted **

The priest looks shocked, and maybe a little weak at the knees as he sees the woman who had held him captive goes down in two hits. His eyes stay riveted to her as she lies on the floor of the chamber with her blood pooling about her slowly.

Okay we're out of combat. What will our villains do now?

Did you not see This post DM S?

Dogar watches impassively as the two females of their group make short work of the strange priestess. Normally, he'd be more than little furious of someone who'd got in the way of a fight of his, but this was a rare exception.

He'd never really had much gumption for killing women, mainly because it wouldn't normally be much of a challenge, but seeing these two work, especially the sadistic Asimar, he makes mental note not to give them any advantage for being female should the time to kill them happen to arise.

'Hmph, these two broads are as crazy as the dead one was. Maybe I'll get lucky and they'll start some trouble with me. Still just doesn't seem quite right to kill a dame what ain't caused me no grief yet after all.'

As he muses to himself the shaggy haired dwarf stomps over to the hanging man, completely oblivious and uncaring of the blood he steps through on the way. Coming right up to the man he asks gruffly "So, I suppose we're supposed to free ya, eh? Well, what I want to know is, what's in it for me?"

Male Battle Dwarf 1/ Daredevil, Battle Skald Bard

I'll be away for the weekend, don't know if I'll have net access, so if there's the need to DMPC my PC, please do. See ya!

Male Battle Dwarf 1/ Daredevil, Battle Skald Bard

I think I came up with something that fits Dogar ; )

And no worries mate! Everyone was new at some point and we all make mistakes. Doing a good job so far and I have no doubt you'll just get better and better. And as for fun, being able to RP a Non Goody type is Great fun! Loving it! : D

Male Battle Dwarf 1/ Daredevil, Battle Skald Bard

Sense Motive: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (20) + 0 = 20

Growling, his temper quickly starting to rise, Dogar glares at the chain spinning female "Look ye daft cow, I don't give a rat's ass for that piece o' meat ye got hanging back there. But I'll tell ye this fer free, if ye was a man, I'd already stuffed my fist in yer face just fer annoyin' me with all yer nonsense about yer stupid 'Midnight Fairy Lord'. But, since yer a broad, I'll give ya a chance. So, why don't we play all nice like n' ye let that sack o' pathetic down so's I kin get this annoying voice outta my head, right? Otherwise, if yer the kind what likes tae play rough, as it seems ye might be, well, that kin be arranged as well." as he slaps his axe into his palm, a certain eager grin beginning to form over his face. `

Although not the brightest or wisest of sorts, one thing Dogar does know is fighting. Seeing a chain spinning woman who's he's just insulted means he's ready for a fight, a prospect which always manages to brighten his day, even if it is only a fight with a woman.

Readied action to attack the woman if she makes any hostile action towards him.

Male Battle Dwarf 1/ Daredevil, Battle Skald Bard

I'm finding myself in a difficult position of how to play Dogar when character info is given to me as a player that Dogar doesn't know. I had Dogar ask that question to the 'air' (as in wherever that voice came from before) because, on his own, he would never think rescue the man being tortured. He simply doesn't care and it's none of his business. What's the point in expending effort and engaging possible risk if there's nothing in it for him?

So I kind of feel like I would have preferred if you hadn't given us OOC Player info like "You don't have to save the man to get out of the dungeon alive, though doing so would make things easier. (He did say he was a priest)"

If that info had been given to Dogar, then he could have made a choice based on that info whether to help the man or not. But for me to make Dogar do that, would seem to be...unrealistic and against his nature based on what he knows at present.

Does this make sense at all?

Course, at this point, he may just decide to kill the crazy chick anyway cuz she's starting to get on his nerves ;-)

Male Battle Dwarf 1/ Daredevil, Battle Skald Bard

Dogar shakes his head and turns to go, not caring one whit about the man, or the insane half-elf. Before he can reach the door the, he hears a buzzing in his ears. Smacking himself in the head, he asks "Did anyone else hear that?"

Then, suddenly thinking of something, he asks aloud, looking somewhere near the ceiling "Wait, you saying we need to kill this b$&&&, or save this looser, to get out of here alive?"
