I will do my best; work has been extremely busy, and I've been using what spare time I do have working on the 2.1 version of the keyword guide.

Same problem here.

Something to do with the update?

If you want to nerf something else, please nerf energetic field, it is broken, extremely broken.

I think an 18 second cool down would do it, since it only lasts 2 rounds.

Also, getting the arcane penalty tech in for heavy armor would help tremendously.

And then there are charges....

I understand you want to avoid spamming this as well. But what is the wizard equivalent of the cleric orison "agile feet"? You can spam that as well without penalty. Should it also get a longer cool down? Is the real goal that no buffing/healing cantrips/orisons/spells should be able to be spammed in a combat?

Agile Feet is Quickened (+10% Speed and +5 Base Attack/Reflex) 2 rounds, while Energetic Field is Hasted (+30% Speed and +15 Base Attack/Reflex) AND Dodging (+20 Reflex or +40 with Opportunity) to self 2 rounds.

Very different.

Emphasis mine.

Is something bugged with the Thornguards? I thought they were supposed to respond to this sort of thing. I know some Thornguards were moved closer to crafting facilities today, but I thought the bank was already pretty well covered by Thornguards.

The Guards only act when a player's Rep is below -2500.

What happened with this, anyway?

I remember logging in for my first time in Alpha 6 or 7 and hitting someone twice while I was testing out my keybinds. I was then mercilessly beaten to death by the Thornguards. And again when I rezzed at the shrine. And then again when I rezzed at the shrine. And then again.... ad nauseam...

Why did GW change that?

EDIT: Not the spawn camp ganking by the TGs bit.. the Attacker flag TG aggro, I mean.

Bunibuni was not in the hex at the time. The Holdings tab showed an Alderwag company in possession of a tower we had previously controlled and a time remaining apparently (3 min). The question would be, was that the time remaining in PvP window which would not matter because tower points already captured, or time remaining before capture completed. Obviously if it is the latter, then the Holding tab would be a useful tool for monitoring during your pvp window. Unfortunately I suspect it was the former.

Might be worthwhile to test this out. Happy to arrange a time and place where someone from another company arranged to stay in one of our towers to get up to 100 points.

I could watch both from the hex and from the holding window. My assumption is you don't see anything in the holding window - but maybe I'm wrong.

I would also be very interested in the outcome of this test. I will organise a test on my end, and we can compare notes.

If you are talking about looking on the holdings tab, I believe this only shows when a tower has already been captured. Unless I'm missing something...

I'm pretty sure the tower holdings don't update until server reset, which is much too late to be useful.

The list updates if a tower you owned at the start of UpTime in a day is subsequently captured by another company.

Then, at downtime the next day, that tower is removed from your list and added to the list of the capturing company.

Temporary, yes, but six+ months is a long temporary if needs to keep people engaged. At the moment, the tower wars is not keeping people engaged. Some reason to pay attention is necessary. I continue to push for Random mobs that threaten AFK tower captures. They only need to be high enough to be a low level threat to a character that is not asleep, and turn up once or twice per hour.

That is a really cool idea. It also would make tower PVP VERY interesting, as random mobs suddenly join the fray!

+15 for this!

If you are responsible for only one hex then it is likely your numbers are so small that not all companies are online every day.

So we might be back where we started if others in the settlement don't get notification.

In my view some form of notification is necessary unless there are reasons to stay always in the hex you have claimed.

Right now people spend time in settlement (training, bank meeting and exchange), various hexes (monster slaying and gathering) and moving around (getting from a to b).

Of all of these the last is the best to spot attackers which makes traders your best defence which just seems wrong.

Exactly what I mean.

Settlement Leader: "Oh crap, our POI in X.X hex is under attack, but Company X.X usually isn't on until X O'clock.. Well, since any member of the alliance can defend a POI held by a company of the settlement, I'll send XYZ group out there to help out."

Remember that the eventual system is intended to have a single company controlling a single hex's infrastructure. Also, it's supposed to be impossible to meaningfully attack a Point of Interest without siege equipment. Attacking an Outpost can be done without siege but only causes economic damage rather than threatening sovereignty.

So with those points in mind, what lessons are we learning from WoT that we think need to carry forward into the OE siege system? A company shouldn't need attack notification systems if they're just responsible for one hex.

Each player will eventually be able to be in 3 companies, though. So that does make it a little more viable.

Also, more often than not, it will fall upon the Settlement Leadership to be coordinating the PoIs, PVP windows, etc.

Lastly, we have been told (can't find quote ATM) that POIs will be subject to attack by players alone, albeit slowly.

Are you in Western Canada? 7pm EST is pretty typical for an event including all timezones. Perhaps 8 or 9PM would be better?

Yes. Well, MST, to be precise. I have two kids though, and usually can't get on until after they are in bed, which would be more like 10 or 11 EST.

Maybe I will just show up when I can and see if I can organize some PUG matches?

I think one solution is to have towers your company/settlement controls change colour on the map when they are in the process of being contested.

RP wise, you would have to think that we have scouts/attendants (non-combative) whom we position at the tower who would have magical means of communicating with the leadership when enemies have been sighted.

Game wise, it eliminates some of the man-hours, and also lets the people who WANT pvp to know exactly where to go.

Also, it creates much more room for strategic warfare.

"Two of our towers are being accosted. Is one just a decoy? Do we divide our troops and hope we have enough to beat the attackers down, or do we guess on which tower is the real stage and take the risk of being in the wrong place at the wrong time." - Leaders everywhere.

My apologies then, I thought by your reply that you were offering support for the comparison.

So if Slammy is an experienced player, he should have noticed the lack of this icon in many cases?

Only he can speak to whether he saw the icon, or knew what to look for and notice it in the heat of battle(s) reliably. If he noticed it and did nothing to correct it he should announce that fact and refrain from using that tactic in the future.

I have no position of authority to enforce that, but that is my opinion and it falls within the guidelines of the community of which I belong.

If he did not notice it he might not want to state such, as apparently the criteria for not noticing it is mental retardation. It wouldn't bother me if such was truly the case, but I am much less skilled in pvp combat and have no real ego to speak of. The truth would simply be the truth.

That is exactly my point. I would hope that ANYONE who knows that they are experiencing a bug do something to correct it, NOT exploit it.

This is not an anti-Slappy campaign; it is an anti-exploit campaign.

Never did I say he was manipulating the game to avoid Opportunity. What I said was that, having obviously noticed that something was wrong, he purposefully did nothing to correct the issue. Instead he used it to his advantage.

You SHOULD have seen Opportunity every single time he moved while he was in combat stance.

Just because you saw Opportunity 'occasionally' does not negate the fact that things were not working as intended.

That really is not the biggest issue, although it definitely is an issue.

That he should have been provoking opportunity for 90% of the time he was recording, that is the issue.

And even he should have known immediately that there was something wrong. To casual shrug and take advantage of the situation, that is another issue.

Even then, that Slammy was not provoking opportunity is not directly equivalent to flying around as MurderMan.

It might be that Slammy intentionally exploited, I do not discount that possibility. What I think is being missed in the witch hunt is the assertion he MUST HAVE DONE SO INTENTIONALLY.

In the heat of a battle I myself could easily miss conditions not being applied. Given I am not an expert PFO combatant, or even a mediocre one.
....

The video is around 8 minutes long, and it is clearly edited from longer footage. Slappy has been running around PvPing for the last few days.

To say that he 'didn't know' that something was wrong is either very naive, or telling us that you think he may have mental issues.

So yes, after he determined that something was wrong, he INTENTIONALLY did not report it, did not log out and log back in to try to correct the problem, or do anything else in order to rectify the situation.

But they said they couldn't target him. I honestly think that he desynched at the hex biundary, thats why nothing was working on him.

Just like if you've ever been attacked by NPCs on a boundary, and you attack over and over but they take no damage. Their attacks still hurt you, though.

Same thing here.

What, by constantly moving?

Watch the video again and observe how many of his kills were people just standing in place.

More than half the fault for his kill streak was his targets' lack of staying mobile. The ones who did stay mobile certainly lived longer at least.

I'm willing to bet the hex boundary thing Daz mentioned is probably the reason for the expendables not working.

Targeting is definitely difficult. No reason Sammy's opponents couldn't have used the same tactics though.

I begged people to practice PvP with me and others during alpha. Seemed like the majority of people were content to practice crafting.

This game has been intentionally designed to do away with that twitch-type game play. Erratic movement like what Slammy is doing should be provoking Opportunity, but doesn't. To say that others should be doing that is false, in my opinion.

Goblin Squad Member

I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt and say that it was not intentional.

You can clearly see in the first minute of the vid that the fighting happens on a hex boundary. We all know what kind if fun bugs happen there.

I DO think he very much took advantage of the situation in order to wreak havoc. He must have known that his character should be provoking opportunity, but made no efforts to log and try to reset. That is exploitative as far as I'm concerned.

Goblin Squad Member

Someone should bug report this. You guys were fighting on a hex boundary, and he should have been provoking opportunity every time he moved. That might also be why you couldn't target him or use expendables on him.

Once again, hollow victories Slammy.

Coal is actually considered a chemical, not a metal/ore.

Edit to add:

The component groups, as defined by GW, are as follows:

Chemical
Metal
Wood
Leather
Cloth
Gems

Goblin Squad Member

Added version 2.

All components are in the same slicer now; this makes it easier to search for recipes by component (Raw or Refined).

Also added Output Category so searches can be done by item type (ie. Ammo, Armour, Back, Leather, etc.).

Also added Feat Rank; user can now determine if they have the appropriate rank for a recipe, or search for recipes by feat rank directly (for achievement hunting).

Lastly, added Tier for a similar effect as Feat Rank.

As always, comments and feedback welcome.

Hello everyone!

I have created a neat little tool to help Crafters and Refiners with their jobs. The tool was built in excel and needs to either be downloaded to a desktop version of excel, or viewed in a browser in Excel Online (recommended).

This tool is a really simple filter that allows you to choose a recipe and find out exactly what components you need, how many, how long it will take to craft (base), and some other info.

Also, if you found materials and want to know what you can craft with them, use this tool to reverse engineer the recipes you will need (or find out which friend to give the mats to!)

Please post here with any feedback or questions.
