I believe that we should have a notification system that our property is being damaged, and I think that RP wise there is a solid reason why. They talked about NPCs working at PoIs and Outposts, and it would be cool if those individuals alerted the settlement. Like refugees fleeing from the edge of borders to the largest safest place.

"Workers from PoI -4.12 are reporting an attack from bandits"

I think we also need some clear recognition on our maps of what we control. At the settlement level and company level.

Edit: More to come later, distracted teaching my Grandmother about her new tablet.

Exactly what I meant. Makes a lot of sense to me!

The WoT strongly favors the attackers with current server populations.

This is partly due to a logistics issue with keeping an eye on 15 or 20 towers spread across an area 10 or more hexes wide and high. Putting a scout in every tower is not practical so you need roaming scouts and a whole batch of players just standing in a central spot doing nothing ready to respond.

The attackers on the other hand can just get a large force and look for targets of opportunity.

I would also say it's a tough call on what GW should focus on. On the one hand the big group content is a large part of the game in the long run, but on the other hand I feel like what we currently have is going to get old quick as we just don't have the population to make it tolerable for months. And I don't feel like it's going to grow the player-base enough if it continues to be tedious or the activity dies out after a month or two.

I'm starting to think they should focus a bit more on the smaller group content and systems combined with settlement building and POIs. Push back the giant war stuff and focus on more intimate systems, have enough things to do that everyone can hop in game and have a few options for activities without burning them out on the same content they must do everyday. Once or if the population starts to explode they can start gearing back towards the large scale content again as the numbers start to fully support it.

Also I by no stretch blame GW's inital decisions, the data they had said or still says they had potential for this to work out, unfortunately it isn't quite panning out yet. Plenty of us were surprised by the number of empty settlements. Maybe another week or two will give a better picture. But they can either push on and hope things stay level and eventually increase or they can refocus a bit in a bid to keep the current players invested and interested enough to help bring in new players.

We're mostly all sold for at least a couple of months regardless, the question is what about everyone else who would be interested?

Don't know if this will help but if you enter your settlement's name into the company search, all the companies in the settlement will be displayed and you can then look to see if anyone is taking any of your towers during your open PvP time.

As an Alderwag company did last night to a Stoneroot Glade company's tower. Unfortunately, I didn't realize it until 3 minutes before our window closed so they got the tower. :-(
But keeping it will be another matter!!!!! :-)

If you are talking about looking on the holdings tab, I believe this only shows when a tower has already been captured. Unless I'm missing something...

This is also my understanding. I'm trying to watch at it every day after the PvP window to inform myself if any towers have been taken and by whom. But I don't think it helps before it have been taken.

Bunibuni was not in the hex at the time. The Holdings tab showed an Alderwag company in possession of a tower we had previously controlled and a time remaining apparently (3 min). The question would be, was that the time remaining in PvP window which would not matter because tower points already captured, or time remaining before capture completed. Obviously if it is the latter, then the Holding tab would be a useful tool for monitoring during your pvp window. Unfortunately I suspect it was the former.

Might be worthwhile to test this out. Happy to arrange a time and place where someone from another company arranged to stay in one of our towers to get up to 100 points.

I could watch both from the hex and from the holding window. My assumption is you don't see anything in the holding window - but maybe I'm wrong.

I would also be very interested in the outcome of this test. I will organise a test on my end, and we can compare notes.

Thod, I've got a alt in the area and could run him up to do this test.

The 3 minutes was the 3 minutes left in our open widow PvP. I am not sure if the tower was taken by them just as our open PvP ran out or they had taken it earlier. I got there two minutes after Stoneroot Glade's PvP window had closed, and the tower and its PvP window was now closed and had been set for the maintenance cycle of 9 AM Pacific.

But clarifying if you can see that someone is taking the tower, but has not yet taken it, through the holdings button during your open PvP would be of great help.
