![]() Danir strolls through the ballroom, listening to the speeches and watching those around him, thinking about how weird it felt to be back at a house gala, even if not his own house... Perception roll to see if he sees anything dangerous/shady Perception: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (15) + 12 = 27 Remembering their briefing, Danir also searches for Baron Thalissas d'Lyrandar amongst the crowd and seeks to get near him, to see first if he can overhear anything of value. ![]()

I intervened, using a magical weave to electrocute the assailant. Once this immediate threat was dealt with, we headed down to the room from which the scream had come, to find the dead Lyrandar noble. I suggested to my companions to touch as little as possible so as to avoid ruining evidence for you." "Any other specific details you need?" ![]()

![]() After all the excitement of the day, Danir retires back to his room and prepares himself for the next day and Ebran's formal introduction into the Lyrandar house. He sets aside his worries and qualms of the current day, pours himself a libation, and then goes to sleep. The next morning, upon awakening, Danir proceeds to perform his meditation, calming and centering his mind to allow for the preparation and storage of magical weaves into his body, to later be transformed into full magical infusions. ![]()

![]() Danir's only real motivation with getting his task done so that he can get back into his house is because it helps him towards his long term goal- gathering enough personal money, power, and partners/hirelings to make a foray into the Mournland and return to Eston- his home and the former seat of Cannith power. He wants to find his family members bodies and give them a proper burial and might also wish to seek some keepsakes/mementoes from his family home. ![]()

![]() I'm thinking that we either need to actually start posting with some frequency or call this one dead- waiting days for a single post, having questions asked towards the gameplay be routinely ignored, etc.- these things make for a poor gaming experience from what could otherwise be a great game. But that's just MHO, what do the rest of you think? ![]()

![]() Was Danir able to see anything on the papers without disturbing them overly? "Did any of you get a good look at the assassin that fled? perhaps we could get an artist to render a likeness of him for the watch to search for. As far as House Thurani goes- we cannot currently prove that the assassin was a member of the house, as leaving behind a note and a Thurani house crested dagger seems like the sort of blunder a real Thurani agent would never make- I would be willing to wager that it is more likely that this is an attempt to make this look like Thurani work than an actual murder performed by the house." ![]()

![]() "Well its been a while since I've been to something like this," Danir thinks to himself as he prepares to disembark at Skyway. "Hopefully this party will go better than that one..." Danir is momentarily taken back into the past as he remembers the last time he saw his parents- his mother's slap was a fresh wound across his cheek, her response to his declaration that he was refusing a house contract to work on Thrane warforged, that he was instead going to join the Cyran military so that he could defend his homeland. It was the last time he saw his parents, within 6 months he would be taken captive by Brelish forces, and after their deaths on the day of Mourning he would never be able to tell them he was sorry, to tell them how much he loved and missed them. He wished again that his last words with them had not been so angry, so vicious. It was his greatest regret, and the reason he was part of this madness- to rebuild his place in the house (if he could) to honor his parents' wishes, and so that he could acquire the skills and resources necessary to someday go home to Eston, to see if he could find his parents and give them a proper burial. ![]()
Human Artificer 4 HP:21/27 AC:17/16 f-f/11 tch
![]() Perhaps I was confused by what you meant by Wandslinger, but your backstory still has a huge hole in it- no member of House Cannith would ever need to flee Cyre to avoid conscription- all Dragonmark House members are immune to conscription into national militaries. The Korth Edicts actually forbid house members from holding military or noble rank while part of their house- this is the reason why Danir left the house originally, so that he could join the Cyran military. Danir might not be able to prove that Thrask is not a Wandslinger but he can certainly point out that the man's whole history revolves around a blatant fallacy. But really, if Thrask wants to make such claims, Danir is simply going to make sure he doesn't get caught up into any of the mercenary's lies or be held as accountable for any crimes he may commit. ![]()

![]() GM: As soon as Ebran recounts Thrask's story, Danir will know that its just a total load of manure- should he just flat-out tell his companions so that they can distance themselves from the man? According to the Dragonmarked book, pretending to be a member of a house really is a punishable crime of fraud and his (Thrashk's) lies could actually endanger our mission. Personally I want to drop the truth like a brick wall but wanted to know if you thought it would be a bad idea to do so? Anyways, thanks for reading this. ![]()

![]() Ebran/Xov: "Indeed. And he says he's part of House Tharashk? ![]() Danir arrives in a stylish courtier's outfit- a sky blue shirt and dark dress pants, high boots of polished leather so shiny you can almost see your reflection in them, and a midnight blue cloak draped over his shoulders. He also wears his signet ring (charged through Spell Storing Item infusion with Shocking Grasp spell- lasts 4 hours or until spell used). DC 23 required to emulate spell store it
Noting that Ebran was planning on bringing arms with him, Danir decided that in addition to his infused ring he would also wear his dagger to the party, just in case. ![]()

![]() Coming to the conclusion that he should have a small, secondary melee weapon for fighting in areas where his Morningstar was not feasible, Danir went to a House Cannith Weapons Shop and pays for a Masterwork quality Dagger forged from pure adamantine. He picks this up the next day before doing his 8 hours of work on completing Ebran's outfit. Since this weapon is listed in the rulebook under specific magic items, I'm guessing he's paying full price for it- 3002 Galifars ![]()

![]() New Question: Does Craft: Alchemy checks require 1 week for a roll in your opinion? And does a normal work week equal 7 days at 8 hours each for a total of 56 hours? I ask because at that rate, for Danir to make a standard Acid Flask on a take 10 check will require him to spend 14 hours, and that seems pretty long- he can make a 2000 GP magic item in 16 hours. ![]()

![]() You can do 8 hours of work in 4 hours for +5 DC, I just had to recheck if that would allow the glove to be done in one day... and it looks like yes, he could, with three days to craft finish both the outfits and the glove (DC 16 vs. take result of 22- still all good) in time. ![]()

![]() At 2000 GP value, the glove would take 2 days to make, cost 750 GP (to Danir) in materials, and he'd charge say 1400 Galifars for it. DC would be 11 and taking 10 I'd get a Spellcraft result of 22 so I think it would be ok. -Danir can do it for you after the party but sadly not before- 2 days for the 2 outfits- re-reading craft rules I see he can't make more than one item a day exception potions or scrolls. -Also, I don't know if taking even a hidden weapon to the party would be a good idea, just saying :P ![]()

![]() With his letter of credit secured, Danir makes preparations for the next leg of their journey and the upcoming celebration for Ebran's ascension into House Lyrandar. Going first to a House Cannith outfitter to get his family discount, Danir haggles with the shop keeper to get a decent trade-in value for the pristine condition gear he currently had and then purchases a masterwork value light crossbow and Morningstar to replace the base ones he had been using, as well as purchasing a brand new suit of Cannith-forged Mithral Chainmail armor in exchange for his leather. Almost as an afterthought, he also purchased 20 standard bolts for his crossbow as well as shelling out for 3 silver tipped and 2 adamantine tipped bolts, just in case the need for them might arise. based on the results of the appraise checks we both made, whatever you think is fair for trade value- keep in mind that he paid only 16 G 2 S 5 C for this same gear new as he got it at 25% of normal cost Done with basic outfitting, Danir made his way to a merchant district where he would be able to get the necessary component materials to craft shiftweave garments for both himself and Ebran, as a present to the half-elf so that they would be finely attired for the party. He also picked out the materials he knew he would need to make a particular item that Xov had commissioned his services for and a few more items that he wanted to make for himself. So loaded, Danir fetched himself a skycoach for getting himself and his parcels back to the tavern where the group had set base.
