Cole stood over the lifeless body of his mother as the thoughts on how to cover this up came to mind. He soon finished the note as he crumpled it and clenched it in his mothers cold hand. He hoisted the body and stood watching it for a moment. He was sorry for actions his mother had taken that moved her away from the families true faith. He turned to the corpse of his father as he dipped his hand into the blood pooled on the floor. He approached the door and drew the symbol of Asmodeus. He kneels and prays offering up the sacrifices to the dark prince. When done he begins packing.

They pushed and pushed. They kept things hidden from me and got what they deserved. The fiendish blood and power runs in my veins. I will show these fools the power they banished from this land is not gone. I will see that king fall and his cities burned. The question now is the how.

He finish packing and slung the pack over his shoulder. He opened the door and squinted at the light that pored in from the sun. As his vision adjusted he was surprised to see the ten men standing in a semi circle around the front of the home. They pointed and called out. "Traitor" As they rushed forward. With their saps they beat Cole into unconsciousness.

@GM:

No worries sorry about that. Would you be cool with the oversized hands. I can see him requesting a large War Mace from the Cardinal to bust mitran heads like melons. Would be using it one handed going mace and shield build.

@GM:
Alternate trade for spell like ability. I'm not attached to it if you don't like it. I didn't misunderstand did I? I though you said we could use the table trade outs, or did you just meant the alternate heritage? Sorry if I misunderstood.

Ashe here, Cole is ready to go. I will continue to look at the spheres of power. I may change.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I would like to play Cole. He has escaped Brandiscar before only for our GM to leave us wanting revenge on the dogs that follow Mitra. I can post way more than twice a day and do in all games that allow for that pace. I am in six other games but a few have died recently and I"m looking for more to fill my time. i would love to escape this prion again and see what awaits Cole as he does the Cardinal's bidding. Info in Alias but posting here for ease of access as well.

Description:
Cole is a tall man with broad shoulders. He is well built and handsome. He has the posture of a trained soldier and has an air of confidence about him. He has dark black hair and deep blue eyes that seem to pierce and see into your soul. His chest and body are scared from training and fighting. His back is full of scar tissue from being beaten.

Backstory:

Cole was born in the NE of Talingarde. His mother a beautiful woman and his father a loyal soldier and follower of Mitra. Cole was raised to believe in Mitra as well, but in his love of history he found out about how Talingarde used to be with temples to Asmodeous across the lands. He learned of the great purge the kingdom lead against these temples smiting them from the lands. Still curious of what Asmodeous was and meant he talked to his mother and father. Cole’s father comes from a long line of loyal servants of Mitra and the Kingdome, like his father before him and his father before him. He told stories to Cole of the triumph over these temples by his great grandfather, and to not speak of Asmodeous outside of the telling of these stories. His mother simply would smile and speak to how her family had nothing to do with either side really and Cole would be better focused on studying Mitra. Cole knew she was hiding something but couldn’t put his finger on it and she seemed adamant in keeping whatever it was hidden. To reinforce this Cole was sent to a monastic temple dedicated to Mitra.

Cole accepted the training but never fully bought into the belief of Mitra. It was here in his time of meditation and reflection that he received a vision. He shook it off at first thinking his mind was just playing tricks on him. The next week he was plagued with these visions in his sleep. Each one becoming more clear than the next. He saw men fall around him bearing the holy crest of Mitra, as he kneeled before a great horned demon receiving it would seem a blessing. He still didn’t know exactly what this meant, but it had seemed to open up the latent wickedness in his heart. He returned from the temple both bitter and resentful. He now felt contempt for his father and the others that blindly followed the Sun God. His father forced him into service upon his return. He was put under his father’s command. Now more curious than ever he tried to press his mother for more information on what she was hiding. He went as far as of accusing her of worshiping Asmodeous. She became very defensive and called upon his father to intervene. His father beat him into inches of his life, daring the boy to threaten his mother again. This was the final push the darkness in his heart needed.

Cole recovered and pretended to be the good boy his parents wanted. His father was quick to buy in and promoted Cole under his leadership. Cole used his new position to gather information on the patrols. It seemed an order had come down to his father to take his unit to aid a neighboring town that had fallen under raids from the goblinoids. Cole asked that he be allowed to go ahead and scout a day or two ahead. His father proud of the initiative allowed it. Cole went ahead, but he did so not as a scout. He had managed to steal a small supply of weapons and some light armor. He rode out with this in tow. He then arranged a meeting with a small raiding party. He offered up the weapons and armor and the time when the reinforcement would be coming. He even assisted in coming up with the ambush plan. All he wanted in return was to be alive and able to leave with his father who he wanted alive, but bloodied and beaten. The deal was accepted and executed. His dealings had attracted the attention of another dark power. A vampire had heard of this young upstart. He met Cole on the evening before the ambush and offered a dark gift. Craving power Cole took the offer. The goblins did turn on Cole as well, but he expected this and was able to escape with his nearly dead father in tow. He showed up at home dropping the body in front of his mother.

Now you will tell me what I want to know or you will watch him die.

His mother now in tears dropped before him begging for her husband’s life.

I will tell you, just please don’t kill him. Not even your father knew of this. My grandfather was a high priest of Asmodeous. He passed the teachings to my father. He was killed in the purge and my father kept his worship hidden, trying to pass it to me. I turned from this path to have a family. It was only when I could not become pregnant that I used these teachings. Through dark ritual I called upon Asmodeus to bless my family. He did this by coming to me in the night. He took me to bed, and the next day I was with child. I thanked him, but soon turned on the teachings again. I am a follower of Mitra I turned my back on my family and Asmodeus. Mitra is the light that will protect and lead us. Are you happy now? Is that what you wanted to know?

Yes mother that will do. How dare you turn your back on the teachings? I will take up the true faith. I have felt power running through my veins. You were a fool to hide this from me. Now you will pay as well. I will take my place beside my true father and bring this country to its knees.

With these words he embraced his mother and strangled her. He then slit the throat of his father. He covered the scene by hanging his mother with some rope from the rafters with a kicked over chair bellow her. She was clutching a bloody dagger. He then wrote out a note of confession of her secret worship of Asmodeous and how she finally was fed up of living with a follower of Mitra. She took advantage of him returning in his weakened state. She was then overwhelmed with remorse and decided to end her own life as well. Cole now had everything in place he used the magical tattoos to absorb his sword into his body. This would aid him if he was found out before escaping. What he didn’t know was his father’s unit survived and bested the goblins when the town militia came to their aid. They found the weapons and armor and got some of the goblins to confess in exchange for not being put to death. They returned to find Cole leaving town. When he was confronted they took him in to custody for the capital crime of desertion. It wasn’t until later his father and mother’s bodies were found. He is now being transferred to Brandiscar where he awaits his death, but he knows now it is his duty to bring the worship of Asmodeous back and follow in his great grandfather’s path. He will see these pathetic dogs of Mitra bow before him one day.

I just have the one, Cole background and everything in the alias.

Cole is a Cleric/WereTiger and will level in Blood Rager after that.

He will be front line damage dealer and divine spell support and will be able to heal all the Vamps down the road :) I realy like the more about weretigers for this game:

PSRD wrote:

Weretigers are egomaniacs with a natural talent for controlling others with fear and awe, a talent they usually use to reign over the humans they think of as slaves and cattle for the slaughter. Their indisputable power and animal magnetism makes it surprisingly easy for human populations to acquiesce to their rule; many a citizen has called a weretiger impossible to overthrow, and dangerous but not insufferable because she primarily hunts dissidents. Indeed, weretigers often only seek other human prey every few months to keep the rabble afraid. Some infect important servants to act as temporary proxies before exiling or killing them when their usefulness ends. Weretigers favor weretiger-kin as lackeys, as the former think of the latter as lesser (and less threatening) versions of themselves.

Although not as disciplined as werebears, weretigers are relatively patient and interested in exploiting every advantage they can to achieve overwhelming power. They sometimes operate as infamously ruthless killers for hire if they cannot establish themselves as rulers immediately.

Yep, would be cool to get back in a game. :)

Would like to submit Cole for consideration. He was in a WoTW that died out at level 3. Probably going to do BloodRager as other half of gestalt at level 2. Background and everything is in Alias.

On posting and games and dropping out. I was in 12 games, now down to 6 as the GM has ended them or they ended due to other players leaving. One of them I have been in for 2 1/2 years, 2 others are at 1 1/2 years and the other 3 are all 6 months to a year. I'm in for as long as you want to run.

I would like to submit Cole. Sheet and backstory in alias. Thanks.

5d6 ⇒ (4, 6, 6, 1, 6) = 23
8d6 ⇒ (6, 2, 2, 1, 1, 6, 3, 4) = 25
4d6 ⇒ (4, 5, 6, 5) = 20
6d6 ⇒ (1, 2, 3, 5, 5, 6) = 22
7d6 ⇒ (3, 3, 5, 5, 2, 6, 6) = 30

yep, I PM'd the DM, no activity since the 8th when I last checked.

Everything cool GM, been a few days. Just checking in

Sounds good, I gave mine to Gurmblejack until we make it to save waters, just give me yours to hold and I will place it on you after you transform.

you don't need to be proficient to cut a rope :)

Thats a fine idea Fletch. You shouldn't wait on them to get closer though. Get in the water now and wait on them. Use your extract when they get close. That will give you enough to get to the boat sever the lines and get away. You can then fly to catch up to us. I think this will work. Or it is at least our best option.

that works as well. The rudder is much harder to fix as well and will take them longer. I'm sure they will think something is a foot, but staying hidden would be best as you said. I have an extra longsword that you are welcome too, or you can just take a dagger. Lets go with this as the plan then. So you have potion that gives you a swim speed? not a potion of swimming? Because they are different things.

nice idea fletch do you have claws in that form? If so fly over and cut the main line for the sail. Without a sail they can't catch us or get back in time to report. If no claws then fly over with alchemist fire or one of your bombs and hit the rope. It should by us plenty of time and they won't learn much. Seems safer then letting them catch up to us at least. What do you guys think.

I have profession soldier, but I too am curious at what your trying to do. No cargo would be shipped past the watch wall by any citizen unless its ileagal. Cole's crime was this he delivered armor an weapons to the orcs and goblins. So whats the forgery for?

No argument from us Captain. Just get us to the drop for this cargo the best way you think.

I spit at his authority to let him think his words actually hold weight. I will bath in his blood when the time comes.

I thought the captain gave in after his statement, he just wanted to make sure we knew he was "in charge" The circlet I believe is just like a hat of diguise. It gives a +10 to the check. You can disguise to change your size it is a -10. So it would just be a roll for Grumble, but with perception having a -1 penalty per 10' of distance it would be plenty good for any onlookers. Now if they board us that is different and we can deal with that when or if it happens.

Then we understand each other then. Very well lets be underway.

Cole climbs on board with Grumblejack.

Sit here my friend.

Cole sits next to the ogre and continues their discussions on religion and why serving Asmodeus will be a good thing for the ogre.

I have a solution. Cole draws his cloak shut and puts his hood up. He then reaches in taking the circlet.

Neel down Grumblejack. He puts the circlet on the ogers head.

Now think about a lil'un and focus on the circlet to make you look that way.

Cole waits a moment as Grumblejack figures out how to work the circlet.

Now captain he is just another one of us. Now let us aboard so we can be on our way. It may be your ship but you are in our employ. I will not tolerate any other outburst or demands from you. You have been paid now do your job.

I picked up the sign language if no one else does then it was of no use :)

Cole walks side by side with Grumblejack explaining what is ahead and their mission. He says noting about what is to be done with the captain and crew, can't risk that coming out too early. As they get to the boat and the captain speaks, Cole pats Gumblejack on arm.

Yes captain. You will be protected. You do a great deed for the cardinal. Now Grumblejack you will need to remain sitting most of the time and under a cloak. We wouldn't want to risk you being spotted. The people of this land are ver hostile to your kind along with the goblins and orcs. Once we make it past the watchwall into the open you can move about more freely. Do you understand?

"To War!"
Cole drinks down the glass.

A brilliant plan indeed. The people think they are safe hiding behind that wall. Letting a large force through will truely bend Talingarde. I trust you have further plans to break her, but that is for later. I will see this mission done my master. For you and for Asmodeus.

Cole takes a knee pledging his oath.

You have trained me well Cardinal. I have grown closer to our master. He has taken note and started to reward my loyalty. I one day will be a devilish warrior in his ranks. Now what is our mission. I trust this ship has something to do with it.

Cole stands stoicly looking to the ship.

I realy like Grave Knight. I think their flavor is cool. I didn't consider them when I first sent my Half Fiend idea to the DM. I like it as well. Being able to fly as a Martial character is pretty good. The strongest thing about vamps we havent mentioned is they don't die. As long as the party makes it, and you make it to your coffen you will be fine. Also don't forget they have Fast Heal 5 whick I forgot to list. A Grave Knight and Lich are also pretty indestructable. I don't know what the game has instore. I can only hope they did a good job of making the later books still a challenge with these options.

I am in and have played in mythic games. I can't really say if its more powerful, but if done right its veratile

The trick with the current options is the feat tax. I don't know if they work if you don't have that. Sure the Vamp gives you 6 feats in replace of the 5 you spend, but they are average run of the mill stuff.

oh, I said weapon focus, sorry meant the exotic proficiency. I'm a dolt.

Wade the con is not a negative at all, I mean it is for those levels, but you then get rid of a stat and become undead at level 5 getting your cha to HP as well as the toughness for free so one of the negatives is negated. Also undead immunities wich are numorous. I would take the vamp feats in a heartbeat, but didn't wright meeting one into my backstory and thought being blessed by Asmodeus was a cool idea.

The Vamp feats get you:
+6Str,+4Dex,+2Int,+2Wis,+4Cha
6Feats for Free
Domintate
Change Shape
Spder Climb
Energy Drain
Gaseous Form
a +8 Racial Bonus to 4 skills
CHA to HP
Immune to disease, poison, Cold, Electricity, Energy Drain, Fort Saves that don't effect objects.

After listing all this I don't know why I'm doing the other. All this for a few weaknesses and the biggest the DM is ok with us being able to go out in the Sun.

Can the Cardinal summon a vampire for me? The Vamp stuff is almost too good to pass up. Makes me wonder what is in store in the later books if they included this stuff as an option, they must have beefed up the challenges to pose a threat.

This is what DM and I came up with:

The Believer
Spell-like abilities up to 4HD(gained at the apropriate HD)
Evil Aura you have an aura as a cleric of an Evil Deity would.
You gain two claw attacks.

The Deformed
Spell-like abilities up to 8HD(gained at the apropriate HD)
SR equal to character level+6,
You gain a bite attack.
You gain +1 Natural Armor.
People have a negative reaction to you. Unless disguised people start off as unfriendly toward you.

The Blessed
Spell-like abilities up to 12HD(gained at the apropriate HD)
You Gain DR 5/Magic
Resistance 5 to Acid, Cold, Electricity, Fire and poison.
Fly at your Land Speed with Good Maneuverability.
+2 to two stats of choice.

The Damned
Spell-like abilities up to 16HD(gained at the apropriate HD)
SR equal to character level+11,
Resistance 10 to Acid, Cold, Electricity, Fire and poison.
+2 to two more ability scores different than previously chosen.
Smite Good 1/day as a Anti Paladin equal to your HD

The Fallen
Spell-like abilities up to 20HD(gained at the apropriate HD)
+2 to two more ability scores that have already been enhanced by The Blessing or The Damned.
Fly speed increases to double your land speed.
You gain immunity to Poison.

Its a little shy of the the half fiends abitlity boost. The template offers +4 to three stats and +2 to the other three. This is +4 to two and +2 to two. It's weaker than Vampire for sure, but it doesn't have any weakness to it. I can't be held a bay by a holy symbol :) Though you will unkillable unless there is a TPK so there are trade offs :)

Cool, I will just put Sign Language down then.

Level Summary
+8HP
+1 Reflex Save
+3 SP + Profession soldier, Points spent 1 in linguistics 2 into Bluff
Feats chosen the believer from our list and a bonus feat I need to choose.

Question, would retraining be an available option. I may consider retraining weapon focus as The Believer, then picking up the Deformed this level and retaking weapon focus as my bonus feat. This would put the progression on track with the vampire feats as they could be taken from level one assuming you had been bitten by a vamp. If thats ok then thats what I will do.

Retrain fee would be 10gp x level 3= 30gp x 5days for a feat. So 150gp
let me know. Thanks.

queston, can I take the deception is a tool one, but give up the sense motive bonus to get bluff as a class skill, I would give up the bluff bonus as well if that helps balance it. Thanks.

Also you can add chain mail to the loot list.

I would suggest everyone spend a point in Linguistics and pick up drow sign so we can communicate non verbally if the situation comes up.

Hey guys as a heads up, I am moving into a new job on Friday. I'm still going to be in IT, but its with a new department and Paizo may be blocked won't know until I get there. If it is my posting will be cut down to only after work. I hope its not as we tend to have a fair amount of free time when you work support :)

I couldn't remember and didn't look back, I thought he may have been there. Well disregard that post then, or I will send a slave to summon him then make the speach. Yeah that seems better.

What say you Grumblejack? Would you like to follow us and be ocunted among us. We will try and provide all the lil'ones you care to eat, torture or play with as you see fit. I will do my best to see you never imprisoned again. Swear an oath to us and to Asmodeus. As warpriest I will hold your vow and reward your fealty. If you break your oath I too will be the one to punish. Will you join and stay with us then.

Cole stands again looking to Grumblejack. He raises his glass as he speaks. He stares the Ogre in the eyes. He acknowledges him as a person instead of an object to be used.

Ah subtlety, a cruch for the weak to scared to speak their mind. I have no use of such a tool. Now deception is different. I can agree we need not tell the enemy the plans we have, but I will not play games with them either. He smiles at Wade as if his words have not meaning toward him.

Maybe Titus, but not realy bait, but perhaps as a destraction while we work against them. His uses could be numerous.

Yes, Grumblejack has proven to be more than some mindless beast. I'm sure he is hurt by your thoughts that he would cause a disturbance. He seems pretty focused on food and survival. We will use his strengths for our advantage while we keep him happy. A valuable asset indeed don't you think Cardinal. I'm sure with the right amount of teaching even he could come to know the blessings of Asmodeus.

He sits back down after the toast and defending grumble with wade.

None near death was it Titus. I see you heard of our dealings then He smiles.

The knight was quite strong and s zelot. I can understand and admire his purpose. Let us hope your fortune presist in your future endevors. He looks to Elise. It would be a waste and a tragedy for such beauty to be taken from this world. He raises his glass to her and then drinks sitting back in his chair again.

Looking to Fletch as he speaks then looking to dark spots on his arms he smiles and speaks.

Certainly Fletch. I could off you some advice, I would also suggest some proper lessons in aiming while your at it. He laughs.

Lets save the shop talk for later. Let us enjoy this time of celebration with new friends and toast the fall of Talingarde and Mitra.

He stands and raises his glass.

To our Dark Prince, may he ever watch over us as we bring forth his plans and goals. And to the Cardinal for bringing these goals to us and bringing us together under Asmodeus.

Yeah I hate the rules as is for crafting. Something that makes it work better would be cool.

Blood Crystal isn't auto masterwork so it would be 1818, so 606gp to craft but where are you going to get the. Again MW DC 20 and we can assume you hit 20 on taking 10 so 400Sp or work a week will take 45.45 weeks. I don't think the Cardinal will be training us for a little over 10 months.

Sorry didn't realize I was up yet, don't know what I would have posted but we move on its cool.

Titus, nice to see you again. Ah Elise you are as beautiful as ever. I trust you all are doing well. Seems the Cardinal has provides us with a grand feast. So dear Cardinal we are to start training with you tomorrow, may I ask what type of training this will be?

He sits and poors a large glass of wine. He pecks at the various meats and cheeses, before sitting back in his chair to enjoy his drink and speaking.

weapons are 500gp/Pound of the weapon and you use the weapon weight made out of normal materials. They put out a FAQ about this. Its kind of dumb, b/c a mithral greatsword is more expensive then an adamantine one, but those the rules. WHy would you want a mithral weapon anyways all it overcomes is DR/Silver. Nothing but a waste of money.

huh? Its printed in my book though I have an early run. It doesn't seem to be with it on the PRD or PSRD. So 1650gp then :)

Full Plate is only 1500gp, Check the description. It is always masterwork. Most people miss that for some reason. I have seen it listed in books sometimes for 1650 though as well so it seems even Paizo forgot they put that line in there. :) yeah either way I have the gp. Let me know what price. Cole will give the group back either 116gp or 266gp.

Full Plate is 1500 and could be sold for 750gp.

Mithral is a trade good and sells for full value of 500gp a pound so lets say we have 10pounds. That is 5000gp +750gp for the full plate so 5750gp divided among the 5 of us would be 1150gp each, but we are not selling the full plate so it becomes 1000gp each, but b/c I claimed a item that would be worth 750gp to the party, my share becomes 250gp and the 750gp gets divided among the 4 of you for 185gp each.

Being a blacksmith does nothing unless the DM changes how crafting works. Armor is the only thing worth making mithral as the cost of weapons and weight are not practical. Even something as simple as a mithral shirt 1100gp, becomes 11000sp. The DC is only a 14 or a 20 to make the item. Normal DC is 10 + aromor bonus, but mithral is masterwork b/c of the material and MW is a DC 20 so lets say its a 20. Now lest say you have a +10 and can take 10 to hit the 20. So 20x20 is 400sp so in 27.5 weeks you can make a mithral chain shirt. A little over 6 months well done. I think We will sell the mithral.

I bet at, 4-5 pounds of Mithral a snake, so 2000-2500gp a snake, pretty sure that as well as Balins stuff is our party loot from down here. I assuem we will divide up as before and split it up

@DM, didn't know the sentence was in there. I was thinking of ideas when the others droped and just looked at the stable condition and found the line I posted. Nope you are right and it clearly says one hour after becoming stable :) Thanks for clearing things up. Can't wait to see how the Cardinal punishes us.

Thats what I thought would happen to Balin.

Cole would like the full plate and shield. Assuming the identity of Balin could prove to be usefull. Now to rank up bluff when we level :)

The rule doesn't say you have to wait an hour, it says you get a check each hour. There is nothing that states when the first check happens so it is either when you stabilize or an hour after you stabilize. If you are choosing for it to be an hour after thats cool just thought I would throw this out there as a possible conclusion.

@Declan, not sure what will happen. The only way out is the entrace so Balin and Timeon are dead no matter what. I'm sure the cardinal or Tiadora will handle it. The problem is what happens to us for the failure. My opinion your playing LN, CN more than LE.

This all depends on DM ruling.

Cole's eyes suddenly awaken as he hears the threats exchanging between Declan and Balin. He calls for his dark energy to Heal his wounds.

swift action CLW 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10

He then picks up his blade laying on the ground and lets it loose from his hands flying toward the knight.

Pick up blade(move action)

Use Magic domain to throw blade(standard)

Blade Throw: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (11) + 9 = 20
Damage: 1d8 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14

Fingers crossed, He dropped his shield and Grappled condition is -4 to Dex so lets hope for a hit
