Brandt binds the leader's wounds keeping him from passing away before you decide his fate. You all see his subordinates tremble in fear at seeing a noose around their leader neck just after coming back to reality. One of them stays silent while the other speak in rush: "Please have mercy sirs. I'm sorry for the robberies, but I never killed anyone... Was a farmer but lost it in a war, so please don't kill me." The man begins to cry, tears running trough his face snot coming out of his nose. Sense Motive DC:10:
He is lying, though you don't know about which part. Sense Motive DC:15: He is lying about the killing.

As you discuss among yourselves the two remaining bandits begin to awaken dazed and confused at first, while their leader's life continues to fade.
Male Human Bard 1
Nalys you realize that tough the leader is still alive it won't be so for much longer, while you talk and tie the bandits, the other one hurt dies. It takes some time until Oleg comes out to check the result but when he does you all notice his expression of grim contentment. He kicks one of the sleeping criminals and asks: "Will you hang'em? I think that's what you should do! Right they pay for their crimes, and while we might be able to house these two we won't have places for all their companions." His words still carried a bitter tone, but they weren't disrespectful now. Also notable was the fact Oleg took the hanging of the leader as a foregone conclusion.

Making them fall unconscious at the same time Brandt's arrow hit the leader, and Calum pierced him with his spear. Combat is over, the leader is also dying, the last one is going to wake up soon.

At the same time everyone except the bandits moved, clearly the newly arrived guest weren't expecting an ambush. Hearing the signal Calum charged with his lance atop his steed. Piercing the bandit in his path. Then Calum drew back his lance and the criminal fell on the ground unconscious. Block 1 go ahead.

Oh yeah I meant to talk about this earlier but In order to speed up like many GM's here in the forums I plan to go with combat by blocks: Block 1 (Players 1,2,3) Block 2 (Bandits 1,2,3) Block 3 (Players 4,5) Block 2 (Bandit Leader) Players inside the same block act by posting order. I will be rolling average initiative for enemies and normal for you guys. Mind you that up there is an example, I just used bandits because it's the most common enemy in this campaign. This combat is nearly certainly going to be Players => Bandits

Unfortunately no one had caltrops, you continued to plan even after Svetlana took the remains of dinner back inside. In the end the plan you decided on was to have Nalys and Isla hide behind the doors, so they could be closed rapidly. And trough a suggestion of Oleg it was decided that after they could get cover by standing behind the big wagon near the stables. Where Calum and Geliglee would wait to "charge" out when given the signal shouted by Oleg. At the same time Brandt would hide between the main house and the supply room. And Svetlana would hide in the main house during the ambush. Afterwards you went to sleep in the guest house, except for Nalys who went searching for Berries and waited till midnight to sleep, doing some strange druidic magic during this time. The beds inside were hard but great compared to sleep in the ground. Thus you most likely slept peacefully, finally in a bed again. Yet perhaps you didn't, perhaps your sleep was fretful, wondering about the ambush next day, or the many dangers to come. Or perhaps you barely had any sleep at all, lying awake filled with excitement about this adventure you have embarked upon. Regardless of your feelings morning came, and not soon after you were awoken by Svetlana telling you to come eat breakfast which is a simple affair of some bread and sausages. The day proves to be a hard one as there is a need to keep constant watch over the horizon to see the bandits arriving, thus during the day your tension rises and fall many times until finally one of you during his time on watch see the Bandits riding towards the fort. Four men, accompanied by 3 more horses. You all rush to your positions tension rising and then finally the bandits arrive. They ride inside arrogantly upon seeing Oleg they begin to snicker and ask: "Where is that delicious looking wife of yours?" "Did she leave you for a manlier man?" As they continued with their mockery three of them dismounted and made a line the first inside taking supplies passing to the second outside, this one passing to the third storing the many supplies, food, rope, etc. In bags tied to the horses saddles. "My wife is cleaning the house inside." Oleg said to their leader the man on the horse, his face half hidden by the cowl of his cape a green and brown thing. The man nodded distracted thus Oleg turned and ran while shouting: "NOW!!!" 15th day of Calistril in the year 4713 A.R. - Second Starday of the month. You guys have a surprise round. I will update the map with tokens soon.

GM Eats the Eyes, I recently got Champions of Corruption, and there is a Paladin archetype there which exchanges spells for an aura type ability (Spending uses of the touch of corruption ability) which begins at level four, since we're still level one would it be alright if I take that archetype?
Male Human Bard 1
"That could work, but no way in hell I want any of the scum working here, at least not without guards!" As Oleg speaks his voice rises in volume until at the end he was nearly shouting. He then recomposes himself and adds: "One or two of you could hide behind the gates and close it after they enter, while the rest hides in the stables." Unless any of you have a clearly better idea, or a good suggestion to make the plan better,I will advance to the next day on the story.
Male Human Bard 1
Oleg looks at Isla, as if she was an idiot then answer: "There a no guards around here! I've asked and asked the Swordlords for help, they said they're going to send some men but they haven't arrived." Hekeeps looking at Isla as if doubting her capacity, both to deal with the bandits as well as exploring the Stolen Lands. "If you want to hold' em you can use the guesthouse there's enough room for you in the main house." says Svetlana still looking a bit shaken up.
Male Human Bard 1
"Yes hang them! They're true scum no need for mercy on them!" Oleg says, while Svetlana nods in approval, when her husband finishes she adds some words herself: "The woman, she came with the rest the first time playing with two hatchets throwing them around, then threatening us, she said if we didn't comply they were going to burn the place down, and take me for amusement." She shudders at the last words, Oleg moves closer to his wife and embraces her, while looking grumpily at you as if saying: "See? Hang'em!"
Male Human Bard 1
Svetlana nods answering questions "They always come in near the end of the second week, generally they simply enter and take what they want from the storage pens. They also..." The woman is interrupted by her husband talking:"Act like the scum they are! I'll want to hang' em, I'll display the bodies from the palisades to keep any more bastards from returning. As for their type? They' re bandit scum, trash, their leader does look like he has been on a scrap or too, and the woman? Thanks the gods we haven't seen the woman since the first time. Crazy that one." His wife nods to the conversation and adds hopefully: "Perhaps you guys could hide in the stables and attack once they're taking things." Sorry for the delay.
Male Human Bard 1
"Some of them have horses, the first time they came they numbered 10 led by a man and a woman..." The woman pauses clearly fighting a bad memory then continues: "Then they came in six led by the man alone and since then they only come in four. Still we can talk more during dinner, go to the tables and I'll be along with it in a moment." Soon she comes out of the house carrying a big pot full of stew, she then goes back to the house to bring a tray of warm bread, and a bottle of wine. You find the food filling and delicious after eating only travel rations for days. During dinner the conversation goes back to the bandits: "We know the bandits attack the farms north, but besides this place, there's nothing around here." Oleg says. Sense Motive DC 15:
Oleg seems to like the fact he has no neighbors, and he seems disappointed that things will change. "Yes, we had heard of bandit attacks in the north even before, but three months ago was the first time we met with any of them."
Male Human Bard 1
"Oh there is no need to go hunting, dinner is already cooking, and yes dear we have been assailed by bandits in truth..." "They're going to come tomorrow, demand payment, a tax so we don't get robbed by them! Hah!" Svetlana is interrupted by her husband who has finally come down to greet you. "I'm Oleg, Oleg Leveton." he says grumpily before turning to store away the tools in his hands.
Male Human Bard 1
Brandt you do hear some movement from inside it seems someone is making or fixing something you can hear the sound of a hammer and the grunts of effort. You all decide to be cautious and make way towards the fort carefully but soon it becomes clear you need not have worried as soon as you reach the fort open doors, an animated woman comes out to greet you: "Are you the people the Swordlords sent to explore the Greenbelt? Oh pardon my lack of manners I'm Svetlana, I'm Oleg's wife, now come inside I prepared a meal for you. There is a good view of the road from here." As you follow the woman inside you notice a man working in the ceiling of a small building to your right, he looks you over and then returns to work with a grunt. "Forgive my husband, things haven't been good lately, but come I'm sure you are tired from the road. That to your left is the stables, the building my husband is working on is for guests, the small building in front of us is the storage pen and the big one by it's side is the main house, I'll be serving the food in these benches here in the courtyard why don't you go put your mounts in the stables while I stow your belongings. Then we can eat." Svetlana finishes smiling warmly. Svetlana, Oleg, Trading Post Map. Oleg's Trading Post, 14th day of Calistril in the year 4713 A.R. - Second Fireday of the month

Many nations have tried to tame the Stolen Lands, and all failed, every single colony was ill met with violent ends. By far the best effort was made by Taldan during it's zenith, yet the mighty empire also failed, leaving only more ruins to enrich the landscape. Today both The River Kingdoms and Brevoy claim ownership of the region, but as they can't hold it, the Stolen Lands have become a swath of unexplored wild forests, filled with many dangers, banditry, trolls... Even so, forced by both the political climate in their homeland, and the rising activity of bandits, the Swordlords of Restov have petitioned the crown for the right to send explorers and hopeful settlers to the Stolen Lands. For it's own purposes the Regent has agreed. Thus you have been selected, from among the hopeful, to the role of explorer, if you succeed, riches and fame shall become available to you, even better, you shall etch your names in the history of this land. Of course that is only if you succeed. Will you tame the Stolen Lands or will you leave only bones and ruins? Will your names be remembered or just become a footnote in the tale of these lands? Each of you is called by servants in your residencies in the city, they leave a simple message: "Come to the city's hall on this Oathday afternoon." Upon arriving in the structure what jumps out i mediately is the building harsh militaristic feel, made of stone the "hall" is in truth a keep as ready for war as any other building. And upon entering it you notice a contrast, for the inside was fully decorated, some might even think overly decorated, the insides were clearly furnished for comfort and beauty. Carpets covered the floor, red and gold with patterns of dragons and blades, tapestries adorned the walls some depicting great events, mainly battles, some with the symbols of the great schools in the city, both these dedicated to the art of dueling, and these pursuing more academic fields. After a small period of waiting all of you are led by a servant to the mayor's office beginning with the wizard the first to arrive. The mayor's office is simple, and stark in comparison with the rest of the building, sure the furniture was of high quality, and the single tapestry on the wall, showing the swordlords fighting the Conqueror armies, could make a man rich. The lord mayor Ioseph Sellemius was also a simple looking man, plain would be the word, his hair was a deep black cut short and combed towards the back, he wore no beard, his face shaven. The mayor was wearing a long red tunic fully adorned. He looked like a scholar. As soon as you enter the room Ioseph rises, as the servant introduces you and him, he smiles and says: "I'm glad to meet you. I'm glad for your willingness to take on such a dangerous task. This is the charter take one of them please. I hope you will meet with success in your exploration of the Greenbelt." His words sounded practiced and rehearsed but not untrue, while speaking Ioseph points to a pile of papers in his desk. The charters. "I suggest you and your companions head to Oleg's trading post first, you can find it by following the road southwest of here. They are having trouble with bandits in the area so we hope you can be of some help." Your interview turns out to be a short affair, you have the opportunity to share a few extra words with the lord mayor, but soon you are interrupted by his servant and led back to the waiting hall. After everyone receives their charter and introductions are made, you decide to go rest and get ready during the remaining hours of the day. And to meet in the morrow to set out of Restov. The party traveled for 8 days trough a dirt road, during their travel you crossed path with merchants and travelers, but the more you headed south, less the road was used, finally on the twilight of the second Fireday of Calistril you arrived at the trading post. The place was an old wooden fort, the remains of some past attempt at colonization now converted to a trading post, as you approach you hear no noise, the place seems deserted. 14th day of Calistril in the year 4713 A.R. - Second Fireday of the month Anyone wanting to roleplay something, either with the mayor, or the party during travel, etc. Can do so using spoilers. Everyone take out 8 trail rations.

Well if you guys are okay with me then I will be your GM for this. I'll hope we enjoy this, by the way are your characters ready? With equipment etc? I know they are all 20pt and I'm going to go with that, is there anything you guys would like to change? Any equipment that needs buying? It will be some time until you get an opportunity to buy things as normal again. Also: Unless anyone has problems with that I'll plan to start tomorrow, you guys can feel free to keep role playing in the hall before getting the charter.
Male Human Bard 1
So are all of you in agreement about having me as GM? Or do you guys wish to wait and see if anyone else comes around? I'm not sure if Geliglee is following the topic. Edit: And yes the way this campaign can be played varies, mainly in two issues: Either to have the kingdom as a simple background thing, or having it in the center. (From experience and talking with other people I think the second option is much better.) Then if the AP is being centered around the Kingdom then how far do players want to explore what they can do with it, how it develops, politically, economically... Like in my afk game and in some other Kingmaker game's around there were players who even wrote laws for their kingdoms and such.
Male Human Bard 1
Hello. I can GM for you guys, as I've been thinking of running either Kingmaker or WoR and tending to Kingmaker at that. So here is some info about me and how I would GM this campaign if you accept me. I'm a longtime RPG player and have played Pathfinder for about 3 and a half years, I run a game for friends afk which doesn't sate my RP needs, and pbp is generally a pretty different experience anyway. How I gm: Sincerely I'm much more focused in the history and role playing aspect than the rules, which means if I think something will add to the story make it better, more fun, etc. I'll allow it even if it breaks the rulesor is not an official thing. I'm a bit lazy so I'll prefer to take ready adventures and campaigns though I still do quite a lot of work as I dislike railroading. Which means if my players choose different options than these available on the AP I will create scenes and encounters until we get back to the AP. How I will run this AP if I GM for you guys (Or on a later date XD): First let me begin by saying that while this is one of the best AP around it's incomplete. I believe there are several reasons for this, the fact this is a truly one of a kind d20 published campaign, the need for GM's and players to customize the AP so they are invested in their Kingdom and of course there are always the needs of a publisher. I'm saying this because this campaign has some big time jumps, of months, of years, and while one could simply not roleplay any of this. I found by running this for my afk table that is not a good option. You see this is THE downtime campaign and the more activities the players and their characters are involved in the kingdom the better. There is also another thing which needs to be filled by GM's and players: The citizens, a Kingdom and a city needs people and among these people some notables will appear. When I was GMing this afk I made some of the NPC's myself while allowing players to bring (Create) old acquaintances or family. (Though I took control of them after.) And finally we come to the last item: I think the last module for this sucks, not completely, but it's a dungeon crawl lacking heroic or memorable moments, it's a fun dungeon but nothing more. Thus if I run this I will add a lot of homebrew things and change pretty much all of the 6th module. Well if you guys are okay with all that then I can run this AP for you guys I will strive to make at least 1 post per day, probably more, and I hope you guys can do the same. Any questions?

Dog Tooth wrote: Hope I'm not derailing. I just don't see DT as being useful in combat so he's scouting around for supplies or anything that could be useful in their escape. If y'all are ready to go on with the plan, go for it. Sorry! No problem it's just i think if anything goes wrong and we are all together we still should be able to deal with it. (Since if we add Grumble jack we have 3 front liners) but it's different if we're separated.
Male Human Bard 1
I really think that the best way for us to get out is to simply think good plans for taking each pair or lone guard we find so they don't sound the alarm as sneaking out doesn't sound like an option. Of course the more we try this the more probable is that we won't get one of the guards by surprise but the only thing I'm really worried about is the Warden since he is a wizards and wizards can be deadly to low level parties, actually to high level too XD. We have after all both a paladin and a monk plus a whatever Grumblejack is.
Vitesse wrote: Personally I love having a monk around but for some reason, even though they are a core class, they just don't seem that popular. Well they're the martial artist class and as such they don't fit a lot of environments, sure you can have a foreigner but that means the monk might be less invested and tied to the campaign, generally the best bet in such cases is to re flavor it. I think the only paizo APs where the monk really makes sense is in the Reign of Winter (Crossing from the dragon empires trough north is a good way to tie a monk in.), Jade Regent - Sure it begins in Sandpoint, but we already know there are at least some immigrants there. Plus you're going to be crossing the world your investment should be on the NPCs. Then there is Wrath of Righteousness, after all the Worldwound is pretty much a danger for the whole world. Of course in Varisia as in some other places there are immigrants from the east so it's not impossible having a local monk, but some people can't stand it, like some people can't stand the gunslinger.
So I've written a resumed background, as the full background seems like it will take me some time (maybe days to complete). Thus here it is: Background: Alyah is the spoiled daughter and heir of a sultan whose lands are in western Kelesh, she chose to become a summoner upon learning of her magical talent, she received training in Kelesh and stayed in her father's land untill she became 16 after which she left the Empire travelling to Orision . For Alyah was interested in studying history, but she didn't want to become another of the many scholars dedicated to studying the history of the Diamond Empire, rather she prefered the idea of writing to her people the history of another land. She regretted her decision of going to Osiris not many days after reaching the country, for she and her entourage were attacked by vicious bandits. Her guards fought bravely and Alyah herself fought aided by her Eidolon, still all of them died, including Alyah herself. Or she should have, by her memories the battle was still ongoing when she was stuck with a sword in the abdomen, Alyah remembered falling down, the desert's night and Fayiz painful cry. Then she passed out.
She awoke during the day among the corpses of her companions and these of the bandits, she had no wounds just a small scar. She didn't think too deeply then she wanted, had to move alway from that carnage, she gathered what valuables and supplies she could and took of. She was able to reach a city, from there she sent letters home, Alyah wanted to go back, yet she felt incapable of doing so, partly because of her stubborn pride, which couldn't accept going back in defeat, partly because she felt responsible for the deaths in her entourage, and partly because she had for the first time seen how cruel the world could be and how frail a life was. Exploring the Necropolis in Wati would have been a great opportunity either way, yet when she heard they were going to be opened, Alyah felt incredibly drawn to the idea and soon set out to Wati.

Corrected it, though tail slap is actually at -4 as you still add BAB. Still all of this plus the lack of skills, well that is what I get for posting while being so sleepy. Working on the background now.
