1 person marked this as a favorite.

Here's Ouachitonian's undine. Ranged combat and amphibious are his particular specialties, what with his water blast, swim speed, and ability to breathe water. He'll also learn to do a bit of healing, pick up some skills, etc. Happy to stand in the back with the casters while you poor sots with swords do the messy business. Weapons? I'm a living firehose, I don't need weapons. I just remembered that I never rolled his wealth, don't have any equipment on his sheet in the alias yet. Will roll now and update shortly.

Wealth: 1d6 ⇒ 3 So, the average of 35 then.

Ok, here's the stats for Ouachitonian's submission. Lucien is about the most rogue-like Monk you'll ever see, though he can't disarm magical traps, so not quite as good as a real Rogue unless I take a dip some time. I'm still working out the background since I don't know the setting. The closest I can find for what I have in mind of his religion is the Azlanti deity Amaznen, who died when the Starstone fell. The important thing is that he's a deity of knowledge, but one who believes that some things should be kept secret (the Reaper of Reputation aspect of Norgorber might be a better choice, but his other aspects don't really work). I see Lucien as being part of an underground cult that knows things. They aren't the illuminati, because they aren't controlling things. But they're sort of one part spy ring, one part library. If you need information, they probably have it, and if they don't they can get it. For a fee. He's not a cleric, but a dedicated layman. He might spend part of his day working in the stacks, and part of his night tracking the movements of a businessman whose spouse thinks his late night meetings aren't actually business. Or rifling through a nobleman's private files for evidence of a plot that could destabilize the realm. Knowledge is power. Knowledge is the most valuable coin of all. Sure, he also knows how to use his fists, he excelled at the organization's unarmed combat training, but hopefully it won't come to that. I'm thinking the group would be based out of Arquette, and is sort of the underground arm (or possibly a semi-heretical splinter sect) of a respected religion that's popular with scholars, researchers, librarians, etc, puts high value on learning and protecting existing knowledge, that sort of thing. The main-line orthodox priests just don't necessarily believe in stealing documents, spying on people, selling secrets to those willing to pay, etc.

Yep. I just haven't ad the time to give the game it's due, so I'm stepping back. Much as I said in the thread, it's nothing against any of y'all. I've enjoyed my time in the game. But I've posted less than once a week in the last two months, and y'all should have better than that. Have fun, and I hope I see y'all again in some other game.

Blue sat in his apartment, looking wistfully out at the sky. Sigil was an interesting place, but, but as pretty as its skies were, they weren't the endless skies of home. Blue had been working for the agency for decades now, in one role or another, and in all that time he'd spent scant weeks on the Plane of Air, and none anywhere close to the region he'd come from. He missed it dearly. He missed it enough that he decided the time had come to make a change.

-------------------

A few days later...

When next the group meets, Blue clears his throat. "I, uh, I wanted to say some things. I'm going to be leaving. I've been away from home too long. I talked to some of our supervisors, and I'm going to be taking up a post as one of The Organization's agents stationed permanently on the Plane of Air. Nothing against any of you, I've enjoyed my time here and learned much. If you're even on the Plane of Air, look me up. But it's past time I went home. I haven't seen those skies in nigh on twenty years. Thank You all."

Male Undine Hydrokineticist 1

Blue keeps his hand pointed in their direction, ready to open fire if need be. ::Do what thee lady says.::

Male Undine Hydrokineticist 1

Ok, I'm back up and running. Trying to get caught up now.

Male Undine Hydrokineticist 1

My apartment complex’s internet is on the fritz, so my posting will be spotty until…whenever it gets fixed. I’ll try to do what I can from mobile.

Male Undine Hydrokineticist 1

Ok folks, I've been trying to keep up and figure out where I can jump in, but I'm lost. Who needs somebody shot with a lightning gun? Or, y'know, other things I can do. It does look like I need to roll a Will save.

Will: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (19) + 10 = 29

Male Undine Hydrokineticist 1

Stealth: 1d20 + 15 + 20 ⇒ (1) + 15 + 20 = 36

Blue hangs in the air, drifting forward slowly, trying not to create a sound or breeze.

Male Undine Hydrokineticist 1

Blue is just about to follow up on Gift's suggestion when Armaund starts making people invisible. ::"Well, I guess we all can."::

Male Undine Hydrokineticist 1

My posting may be sparse for he next week or so. One of my jobs is ramping up for the end of the season.

Male Undine Hydrokineticist 1

Flying off Gift's right side, Blue nods absently, then remembers to reply. ::Yeah...:: What is Terex doing? he thinks to himself, while continuing to head toward the tribe.

Male Undine Hydrokineticist 1

::No kidding.:: Blue agrees.

Male Undine Hydrokineticist 1

Blue frowns, his brow furrowing. "I'm not sure about that. They'll know something happened to the supplier, sure, but that doesn't give them any detail about the who or how or why of the disruption. They'll know something happened, but they won't know it was us, or why we're after them, etc., so it could still be a viable option."

Male Undine Hydrokineticist 1

No need to apologize. Characters take you the places they take you. I hadn't exactly intended this arc for Blue when I built him, either.

Male Undine Hydrokineticist 1

Blue cocks his head toward Rollo. "You should listen to the man. He know what he's talking about." Unseen beneath his disguise, he readies his arm-pistol in case it's needed.

Male Undine Hydrokineticist 1

Blue resets his hat of disguise to look like the sort of people who are in that area. He moves around listlessly, but subtly keeps an eye Gift's direction to ensure nothing goes awry for her.

Hi fellow players

Just wanted to say after leveling Gift now looks like this.

As normal as can be

I felt that others have cool stuff covered so I have refocused her as pour Pasion, just as Rollo is a Pour magic user [Give or take]

Yes she has a Drone, that runs our network and basic psy bots.

However, she is starting to hit the higher Psion powers, like Alter reality, which is like a lesser wish. She no longer bothers with weapons,
She can kill with mind Bullets so why bother.

She is still young and has a thing for blue but it will take a LONG time to be anything more than a thing.

Its that kind of

"You two would make a great couple"
With shaking of heads and back steps away from each other.
I am going for the will they want they kind of thing.
So no need to rush and who nows she may meet a nice NPC

Sorry Blue. :)

That's a bit of a relief, honestly. I'm no good at relationships IRL, much less trying to play how a being half-composed of air would go about courting a robot. lol This whole time I've been uncertain whether I should be taking more of a hand in steering where this is headed, or if that would be a bad idea, so I've mostly just reacted to Gift's prompting. Mostly. Anyway, I'm sure Blue will enjoy the view without needing too much invested in commitment. Besides, it's easier to avoid Arlo's ire when you aren't actively trying to get into his daughter's pants.

Male Undine Hydrokineticist 1

Gift & Blue:

Blue takes off after Gift, not quite able to be annoyed with her for getting a head start. I mean, this is a nice view. he thinks with a smirk as he runs just behind her. His new cybernetic tendons feel remarkably natural, requiring practically no adjustment, and yet he can also feel more feedback from them than he thought possible, minutiae of energy consumption, torque stresses, etc. streaming into his mind without distracting him, somehow. Activating his vision modifications, he's immediately taken with how much more detailed everything is. As though it's been magnified, but without taking up more space in his visual field. He also notices new levels of detail in Gift's posterior, how her artificial muscles move beneath the fabric of her jeans. and I should look elsewhere before she notices me noticing. he thinks, raising his eyes to look past her, at the approaching terrain.

Male Undine Hydrokineticist 1

Gift & Blue:

Blue does his best to keep his composure as Gift is...uh...disassembled. He can't quite keep from blinking more rapidly, and his eyebrows climb up his forehead a bit. When Gift's voice emerges from...well, not her head, which is right there on the table, he relaxes a little bit. Right, robotic, she can upload her consciousness, the body isn't necesarily important. Just really cute. Stop that. Ok, situation normal. Cute robot girl not hurt. calm. Even so, he sighs with relief when she gets off the table. "Sounds good." he says, offering his arm. "What sort of testing did you have in mind?"

Gift Fitzroy-Brighthammer wrote:

At the event.

Gift has her protection powers running. Then she keeps close to Blue as they thin out.

Spoiler:

"Ok, the tendons make sense. Possibly also use the integral upgrade capacity one my eyes to install a veemod system. That's probably enough for now, I don't want to rush things too fast." he pauses, and takes his hand in hers. "But once we finish that, I want to hear more about how you've been. I've missed you too." he brings her hand up to his mouth and kisses it.

A the event, Blue sticks close to Gift, but scans the area thoroughly, coordinating with the others through the meld.

Gift Fitzroy-Brighthammer wrote:

Gift ran outside in joy and hugged Blue.

"Blue how are you, I've missed you."

She let him go and gushed.

"Thank the stars you here, I was going out my mind with boredom. Mum and dad are all Babies and other than checking in on them once a day I have nothing to do, but 1st let's go see mum and dad."

Soon they popped into her parent's chambers and had a little meeting and greed. Her Dad was changing nappies and her mother was eating. But Gift did not take their time up. Dad looked tired and mum was having too much fun ordering him around.

She took Blue to the lab, it was her place of research and helped her relax as she worked on things.

"Blue, jump up in the bed and let's check your Cybernetics, see if they need a tune-up."

She looked at a screen,

"So cybernetic arm and cybernetic eyes, Let's see what the optics are like."

She ran him through dignities.

"Let's see what we can do, I think we have space in the arm to place a small power cell to recharge your energy weapons. Optic wise I think we can add better night vision with just a reprogram."

She came to blue and placed her hand on his arm.

"Or you go full-body Prosthetic, it would give you more capabilities."

Blue raises an eyebrow. "That would be a rather drastic step. What sort of options are we talking about?"

Male Undine Hydrokineticist 1

After pondering Gift's differing instructions for a while, Blue eventually approaches Arlo and Lyra's house. Umm. Hello, Gift. I'm outside. Is your mom alright? he sends through the meld.

Male Undine Hydrokineticist 1

Blue is reacquainting himself with Sigil when a message comes in from Gift's...house? That's unusual. he thinks. But she just said to wait a day. Hmm. He sends a message back to her through the message system. Change of plans?

Male Undine Hydrokineticist 1

Blue is of course invisible, but through the link Gift can tell he's smiling. I will be delighted to meet her.

Male Undine Hydrokineticist 1

Perception: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (4) + 18 = 22

Blue sends to the others I'm not noticing any immediate threats, but ours isn't the only high stakes game going on. Be ready, just in case one of the others boils over.

Blue is able to stealthily make his way through the door as the Croupier is speaking to party. The room beyond the door is large and lined with dark, inlaid wood panels, like a cozy club. There are a number of tables where strange gambling games are happening - the play is complex, cards by themselves in strange patterns and other bizarre effects. The figure you saw earlier, Elon, is waiting impatient at one of the table where play isn't happening. Watching hidden, Blue can notice that all the aids and adjutants around the tables are actually powerful time spirits A type of neutral spirit related to psychopomps. Most are concerned with smooth running of time but these are apparently interested in the gambling away of exceptions.

Blue passes all this to the others via Gift and the hive mind.

Male Undine Hydrokineticist 1

If there's room to pass, Blue attempts to back invisibly past Rafif (dropping in from above). He does so slowly, so as not to give himself away by the wind of his passage, amnd is careful not to touch anything, again so as not to be heard r noticed as footprints on the carpet, etc. If there's any indication that he's seen, he breaks off immediately and does his best to play it off. If he makes it in, he'll relay through Gift's telepathic bond what he sees.

Blue floats invisibly near the ceiling of the gambling den, taking in all he can.

As the silver mist rolls in, the others seem to fade from Blue's sight. Again, he is alone. No one in the world to call a friend. Not even Gift, whom he'd been growing closer to for a while. But he pauses. Something isn't quite right. Rapidly flicking through his cybernetic eyes and enhancement visor's multiple modes of vision, he sees that they're on some but not others. Then he hears them, Armaund, Minna, others. He shakes his head, runs a quick reset on his cybernetics...an there they are. Everyone still there. Arlo bending over Gift's prone form. Before he could move to her, she begins to stir, and he relaxes.

Male Undine Hydrokineticist 1

As the fighting finishes, Blue steps out of sight of the crowd of disciples and reactivates his ring of invisibility. ::Good work, all.:: he sends to the party.

Male Undine Hydrokineticist 1

Lucien floats to a good firing position and opens fire on the fallen angels.

Invisible during the first attack, so it will hit vs. flat-footed touch AC. Also, swift action for Hasted Assault magus arcana and spell-striking with Electricity Elemental Scorching Ray. Firing on the three closest targets.

Blue's spirits are quickly dampened by Gift's trial of Narsod. She can be as cold as ice. That's something I'd not seen before. But it's true, Narsod deserves this. he thinks, as he continues to lurk invisibly.

Male Undine Hydrokineticist 1

Blue is slow to react definitely not because he's staring at Gift, no sir. Besides, he's invisible. No one saw that. How many beautiful forms does she have? He thinks as he moves to a flanking position, ready to strike Narsod or his associates from concealment if it becomes necessary. Belatedly, he thinks Glad I didn't broadcast that...

Male Undine Hydrokineticist 1

::Be careful, Gift. Even if you look like him, his cronies might notice if you aren't acting like him. It might be better to claim to be an angel, sent from Heaven. Tell them he has gone to a higher plane, but that you have been sent in his place to offer guidance. You should have an easy time impersonating an angel. You already look the part, after all.:: He says, winking at her.

Male Undine Hydrokineticist 1

Sorry y'all, busy week. Trying to get caught up now.

Knowledge(Engineering): 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (19) + 20 = 39

Blue works with Gift on the drive, concurring with most of her points. In fact he lets her do most of the talking. "As the fair lady says, whoever did this was highly skilled, and covered their tracks well. But we're also skilled, and were able to recover most of it. I'm sorry we couldn't recover it completely."

Male Undine Hydrokineticist 1

I mean, he's a dwarf. I'd figure he's already the very image of a miner. :P

Male Undine Hydrokineticist 1

"My name is Lucien, but my friends" he gestures, taking in Gift and the others "tend to call me Blue. I specialize in ranged combat and the use of technology."

Male Undine Hydrokineticist 1

Holy cow! That's awful. I hope you get better as soon as possible.

Male Undine Hydrokineticist 1

Can I land on the hovercraft and sit on it (the hood or the trunk or something?) for a while without being noticed? I can probably just deal with the fatigue if not, it's not like I'm a barbarian or something.

::Yes, that sounds like a good idea.::

Blue decloaks and comes in with the drones.

Male Undine Hydrokineticist 1

Blue continues to follow the group invisibly.

Male Undine Hydrokineticist 1

GM, the crit confirmation is the one just below where it says "Crit?"

Male Undine Hydrokineticist 1

Blue swiftly expends arcane power to enable himself to move quicker, then casts a spell and fires several quick shots from his pistol.

Swift: Hasted Assault Arcana. Spell Combat: Cast Greater Invisibility (so that I can remain unseen by the Fendarions while attacking) then full attack. (I'd have positioned myself low enough that the plant's bulk will help shield my attack from view, also.)

Ranged Touch Attack: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (19) + 18 = 37

Ranged Touch Attack: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (20) + 13 = 33
Electricity Damage: 1d8 + 9 + 2d6 ⇒ (1) + 9 + (6, 4) = 20
Crit?
Ranged Touch Attack: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (2) + 13 = 15
Electricity Damage: 1d8 + 9 + 2d6 ⇒ (8) + 9 + (2, 5) = 24

Male Undine Hydrokineticist 1

Blue sends to the others what he can see of the size of the plant(s). Size category, speed, reach, etc GM? He also hovers behind the plant(s) on the far side of the rest of the group, ready to attack.

Male Undine Hydrokineticist 1

Blue keeps abreast of the conversation through Gift's link. ::Just let me know where you need me.:: he says to the others.

Male Undine Hydrokineticist 1

Do we know roughly how fast this vehicle is?

Animal Companion: Jallia found Norrit two months after her husband's brutal murder. The fledgling eagle had fallen out of its nest and injured one of its wings. Jallia took the bird back to her then empty home, and nursed it back to health. She tried releasing it back into the wild, but found that nothing she did could send the bird away, and in fact Jallia is quite grateful for this.

Description: Jallia is a slightly plump gnome woman approaching middle age. There are several small streaks of white in her otherwise mousy brown hair. Her skin is tanned and slightly leathery and her fingers are stained various colors, the result of foraging through the wilderness for fungus, roots, and berries. Most of the time Jallia wears her hair up in a bun, giving her a matronly appearance, although on occasion she will let it hang down around her shoulders.

Backround: At the age of 43, Jallia and her husband Kello moved away from their forest community to settle in Sandpoint. They lived happily there for nearly 30 years. Kello ran a small alchemical shop on the edge of town, and Jallia did her part to support him. Many a morning Jallia and Hannah Velerin would stroll through the wilderness collecting various floral ingredients. Hannah would then return to her shop and treat the poor sick of Sandpoint, while Jallia would return to her hom and treat the town's injured animals. Though Jalli and Kello each persued vastly different lifestyles, the two gnomes remained deeply in love and were content with their plight in Sandpoint.

This blissfull ignorance of the world around them ended six years ago, during that time of recent unpleasantness. Kello would often spend the dark hours chatting with a cantankerous old coot by the name of Broderk Quink. The wrinkled human fancied himself something of a sage and historian, though few others agreed with his views. For some reason unknown to Jallia, her husband actually enjoyed talking with the man, so she rarely complained about their late night conversations. Many such nights came when Jallia would kiss her husband on the cheek, crawl into bed, and then wake up beside him in the morning. Then one night he never returned.

Since that dreadful night Jallia has been forced to make her way through the world without the one she loves the most. For the past 5 years she as struggled, to no avail, in order to keep their business going and a roof over her head. Although not alchemically inclined Jallia was still able to collect alchemical ingredients for others, and on the side would take care of the occasional sick animal, however none of those things earned her enough money to continue living the way she had been. Without Kello at her side she isn't sure she wants to stay in Sandpoint anyway. She is down to her last coppers and will soon no longer have a place to sleep.
