I think that Companions can be very powerful if they're used for mobility or for their support benefits. My gnome rogue, Bitty Blue, loves her dromaesaur, Egg, because he's not just an awesome dinosaur but also her special flanking buddy.

It's not about the damage that Egg does. It's about the damage that Egg enables from Bitty.

Bitty will be retiring from this group for the moment. Being an in-person VC has eaten some of my bandwidth. I have 5 new VAs, and my area expanded from games 4 days a week to 7, and I started creating a shareable map library. And we're hosting PaizoCon@ in addition to our other cons. So... Lots going on, and lots of good growth, but it's not fair on all of you to be waiting on my posts.

My guest has been in and out of the hospital the past two weeks, and running constantly to doctor's appointments when not in the hospital. It's been a little crazy around here.

Lighter than a puff of air, Bitty takes a running leap and starts balancing on the poles.

After a good night's sleep, Bitty is happy to help the group navigate. She has a wonderful conversation with a very informative mole and says, "Digs-with-Big-Claws says we should go this way!"

Bitty grabs out the rope and climbing kit and levers herself up the tree as she clambers towards the egg.

Sorry for not rolling for this already. I saw the GM Spoiler and had assumed you had already rolled for us as a secret check. Also, I was sick yesterday and as a consequence missed a lot.

"Tiny Dinos! Yay!" Bitty claps for the new name.

"Um. Can we be the Dino Toys?" Bitty asks, looking at Bea and Egg.

Bitty looks around to see if anyone else wants to talk to the scary other team, and then swallows her fear. What would Grandma Beryl say?

Bitty, you are the granddaughter of a dragon. Stop cowering.

She marches up to the other four humans. "Um hello. My name is Bitty, and I notice that most of the other teams around here have names. What's the name of your team?"

Bitty points at Ami's blue conical hat. "Ami's hat leaked blue dye all over me, and the next thing I knew, I looked like this!" Bitty says with a twinkle in her eye.

"Oooh, my tongue is blue too!" Bitty volunteers to Sigurd, Sigrun and Baltus. She sticks out her tongue to show them. "But I was born that way."

Bitty purchases a pup tent along with her winter clothes. "Another person or 2 can probably fit in with me, since they're sized for 2 medium people."

Bitty already had the healing kit since she has battle medicine.

Ashun, it's also possible to pick up a pack animal to carry stuff. Me, I always buys riding dogs because they can go pretty much anywhere my characters can.

"I suppose it is tradition!" Bitty puts on her conical hat, though her hair keeps blowing out of it in every direction. "Though if Ami already had a blue one, this leaves us with an extra hat. Gavalka, you're short too. Do you want the extra hat? That way none of us get lost in the snow."

"Venture Captain, where do we sign up for the trek? Are we leaving right away?"

"It's nice to meet you, Ami. I know it feels weird that I'm uncomfortable with being the subject of a story. I just worry that..." Bitty bites her lip, "live up to people's expectations!"

Bitty is excited about the whole racing aspect. "I'm pretty fast. Though... I don't know how fast I can run in all this winter gear!" Bitty is dressed in a locally made fur coat, tightly knit woolens, and boots. "I don't know why the locals insisted that Bee, Amiri and I all get matching red conical hats though... Is this normal winter gear up here?"

"Egg! Did you create a mess?" Bitty comes forward to help Ashun clean up.

"Ooh... We should all pick up winter gear from the quartermaster!" Then Bitty looks over at Egg and Bea. "We should get fur coats for our dinosaurs as well, or they'll get sluggish in the cold!"

"But..." Bitty watches him go, and shakes her head. "Doesn't he know that Ambrus and Valsin are the same person? I grew up with him, and he's still confusing!"

Bitty sits down, hard. Her tail curls protectively around her. "But... I don't know what I'm doing half the time. I'm just winging it, and relying on my friends. Does reading about my adventures really help other people?"

"Then why did you write all these books about me without asking me first? Bitisururu and the Pirate Queen. Bitisuru and Rock Stew! Bitisururu and the Missing Dinosaurs! Bitisururu and her faithful Egg!"

"We grew up together! You're my brother's best friend!" Suddenly, Bitty deflates, and her draconic tail droops.

"I thought you were mine, too."

Meanwhile, Bitty is rolling up her sleeves and balling her fists. "Macondi! How could you!"

"Bitisururu and the Pirate Queen?!" Bitty repeats. "Hey, that's not fair! What happens in Port Peril should stay in Port Peril!" Then curiosity gets the best of her. "How did he describe me in the bar fight this time?"

The remaster looks like it has all sorts of goodness for the witch. I am really looking forward to learning more about it.

I can also make a new character if needed. I got a whole bunch of ideas I'd like to try out.

Keep playing Ashun! The remaster is coming and you can easily retrain bits that you don't like. By all means build the other characters, but I would like for most of this group to keep leveling so that we can all go on to higher level adventures.

Tiger keeps running low level stuff, and can tell you the next time he's opening a level one table for one of your new characters.

The remaster is combining burrowing elocutionist and animal elocutionist into just a 1st level feat of animal elocutionist, so I am going to have to retrain Burrowing Elocutionist after Tarnbreaker's Trail, and then... finally... I will be able to speak with Egg and Bea!

In the meantime, Egg will be jealous of all the squirrels and rabbits that I will be speaking with during this adventure.

I am as well because, um... I forgot to do so last game. I marked myself as Level 3 in RPG Chronicles than failed to level my character in game because I've been so distracted with VO stuff. Minnesota has been going through growing pains!

Bitty spends time working on chatting with animals, or at least trying to talk to Egg.

"Egg! Egg! Talk to me! I am trying to get the hang of talking to you!"

I will also say that Blazej is a fantastic GM!

Bret said that he would take Tarnbreaker's Trail. And I adore Lost on the Spirit Road, and would be happy to GM that for the group.

As a group, we have not done either Lions of Katapesh or Lost on the Spirit Road. Like Branch, I am willing to GM either.

So... I think that we will be best served by taking turns paying for replays. 5-04 has the problem that Bret and/or Tiger will have to pay for a replay if we do that one, but we can trade off.

I am willing to pay for a few replays in order to expand our options. I am also willing to GM instead of play, but with as complete as GM Tiger and Phaeton NZ are, that would contract rather than expand the listed options.

Ugh. You're right. Never mind. We cannot afford ranged attacks from these.

If one of them is fleeing, maybe we should consider letting it flee and concentrate on taking out the other one.

Or make it come to us in a place where we can surround it. These things are tough and they hit like mack trucks. I am starting to think that no one should play these quests with a party of six, since I am betting that the challenge point adjustments are what are making these things nigh unkillable.

I want to read these new quests after this adventure because this is so frustrating.
Hmm
