With a wave of their hand, both cups of hot brewed tea float towards her table. She takes one herself and taps whistles towards the ceiling. A tiny dragon clumsily flops down on the floor, shakes itself, then wraps its body around the hot mug.

“Glad to see this is still a place of excellent taste.”

Alexandra thinks on this perspective for a moment as her familiar starts chasing its own tail.

You’d think after spending so much time in Geb that I would be used to it, but I’m not.

“Just once it would be nice to visit an ancient grave and meet an occupant who is just happy to gain the freedom to walk around. Why do they always immediately jump to eating people or ruling the world? I wonder what it is that drives them down this path.

A coffee pale ale? I'll need to experiment with this later.

Alexandra puts her cup down and continues.

"Well, in a moment of foolishness, the Pharaoh's priests failed to follow the ritual to the letter. They removed the brain so as to be more in line the traditions of mummification. This however was a critical error! Instead of being raised as the god that he was promised to become, the Pharaoh was instead slowly turned into a mummy, filled with anger and hatred. His rage was so great that it seeped into the very rock around him and saturated the remains of his followers. By the time the tomb was uncovered, bone and stone rose up to defend their fallen king but in the end both fell silent to the power of Pathfinder might and magic."

She pauses for a moment and lets out a sigh.

"A shame really. The man was given freely what most spend lifetimes searching for as a reward for his benevolence, but his fate was sealed by ignorance. Perhaps there is another lesson in this, perhaps not."

Alexandra waves her hand at the kineticist in greeting and clears her throat.

"Well we did win, so I supposed I have a story to tell. The tomb was indeed a place filled with grim and rot, but it hid a sad tale of a man who did not deserve the horrible fate that befell him. The Pharaoh was a man who ruled over his kingdom around 7,000 years ago and by all accounts ruled with kindness and wisdom. His intellectual prowess was so impressive that the sphinxes themselves held court in his palace, sharing their secrets of magic and stoneworking, and as a result Osirion knew one of its first golden ages as they spread their collective knowledge to the people. As a show of respect and recognition, the sphinxes gave the Pharaoh the secrets of life after death as he reached the end of his days. True life. Unending life. But it was not to be. "

She pauses for a moment to take a sip of her coffee, forgetting that Caydenite magic half filled it with beer. The taste is unexpected but not entirely unpleasant. Still, it takes her a few seconds before she is able to continue.

Alexandra racks her brain as she tries to remember where she has heard that name. Memories of the Osirion desert, old curses, and an angry mummy pop up.

Montajay, Montajay...wait, could this really be him?

“Hold on, were you the same Montajay that delved into the tomb of the Pharaoh of Sphinxes?”

I am submitting my Pathfinder Savant, who is 13. She is an arcane caster with a surprising amount of healing. I need to make some minor adjustments to my profile, but the important stuff is all there. I think. I also have a life oracle that is level 13 as a healer as well as a vexing dodger/fighter who is 14 if a tanky melee dps is needed. I will link the other two profiles in the next few days.

“You’re welcome. You know, funny story, it was actually a teleportation mishap that landed me in Arcadia in the...”

Alexandra tries to stifle her lighthearted laughter from the sight of a spinning squatting girl, a stack of papers with legs, and the fact that her coffee cup is now filled with beer. At first she succeeds in retaining her composure however her immature familiar feels the empathic pull of his master’s inner feelings. Completely unable to control himself he falls from his perch on a chair and rolls on the floor with laughter that sounds like someone poked a hole in a ballon under water. The mage loses it at that point, piping out a laugh that is packed with weeks of overcooked anxiety and stress for a few seconds before coming to again.

Gods, I forgot how fast things change around here and how crazy it can get. I definitely have been out in the wilds too long.

“There is that plenty for everyone. I stocked up while I could.”

Alexandra nods her head in recognition of the lodge’s newest visitor and out of habit flashes a smile in spite of everything. The mage gives a subtle look to her tiny brine dragon friend who is futility attempting to pull a piece of chocolate the size of its body out of her pack. She gently shoos him away then pulls it out herself and breaks it into a few big pieces. Her attention returns to the dwarven woman as she pops a piece into her mouth.

“Well I am glad to have met you Yangrit. Could I interest you in some Arcadian chocolate? It’s the least I could do. Oh sorry, does anyone want some?”

"Thank you very much, you are too kind. You have the humble gratitude of Alexandra and these injuries are the result of poor decision making and my cowardliness. I was accompanying a group of other Pathfinders as we were exploring the Mysterium in order to find...ahh, a book that someone needed. We were surprised by a spawn of Yog-Sothoth, a leech from the Dark Tapestry with far too many mouths, and I was grabbed by one of it's tentacles. Our scout, in a moment of panic, opened another door and a creature with wings of fire attacked us and the others abandoned me to fight it. I used all my tricks to survive and escape its grasp but the others, they did not make it and I ran away with my magic."

Could I have saved Kletus? I heard his voice call out, but I couldn't stay any longer. What will I tell Becca? Gods, I'll deal with it tomorrow.

The woman’s dragon familiar makes a sharp burbling noise as the dwarf approaches but is reassured by his guardian’s words. It lowers its head as a sign of respect and continues to gather the dropped scrolls while wiping a stinky yet sickly-sweet slime off of them.

I shouldn’t complain. At least I made it.

I’m working on updating my character information. I’m level 13 and looking for a game whenever one becomes available.

Flying out from a flash of teleportation magic, a human woman in her early 20s land unceremoniously face first on the floor. Scrolls tumble out of her pack and a tiny dragon scrambles out from her purple and grey coat. As she props herself up her pained groans mix with the clattering of the many gadgets and gizmos that hang from her belts and bandoliers. The fresh cuts and bruises that ascent the burn marks on her clothing are revealed as she sits up and she reflexively pats herself down as if to make sure everything is still attached. Relived to be in one piece, she snaps her fingers which gets the attention of her familiar who begins picking up everything that fell out.

Well, that went poorly. I better get started on filing my report. Well maybe not just yet. I need a cup of coffee.

Thanks for running. I had a lot of fun.

Alexandra flicks her Ioun stone and with a shimmer her form becomes that of an average human. She sighs but keeps smiling.

Saved a city, rescued wounded soldiers, uncovered Thurl’s plot. I’d say that’s a good day. I have to travel back to my own corner of Golarion so I guess this is farewell. For now at least. If I’m ever in the Kaer Maga I’ll stop by your potions shop Dax and say ‘Hello’. Stay safe Big Blue, it was a blast watching you trounce stupid demons. Kargen, I’ll see you around. Sorry Styfis but Alexandra has mentioned how she was abandoned by her party and demons killed her. It's come up a few times. I can't imagine her doing that to anyone else, especially other wounded Pathfinders. 4 negative levels is a bit crippling but I've had to deal with the fact that most of my spells haven't worked and I'm still around. I believe that you can still make a difference in this fight.

Regardless we can't be down 2 people for this fight so Big Blue needs to get up. I am going to move to El Garrapata take ten on 2 UMD checks to cast Breath of Life.

Where is he going? No...he wouldn't!

Wiping the blood from her face with the back of her scaly hand, Alexandra is suddenly filled with a sense of resolve. She flies toward Big Blue and as she taps her scroll case her hands weave a pattern of bronze cogs that begin to move as the spell finishes. She looks into his face as she touches his chest.

This is a tricky situation. I could heal Garrapata with a CLW wand but if I roll high I can make him conscious again with 2 hp at the feet of a demon (which is not optimal) or Kargen could zip in and hit him maybe with a CMW. I'd also be comfortable with both of us healing our tank. I'm not 100% sure how kinetic healer on Dax works or the range on it so I'm not sure if they can help this round but please correct me if I'm wrong. In a worst case scenario do have 1 Breath of Life in my pocket if needed which I can active.

Hah! After reading I somehow know less than I did before.

“This book mentions bird like demons but none of it makes any sense. Looking at it closer, it almost reads like a menu. It lists the creatures parts but doesn’t include anything about vines or that screaming thing. Umm, I’m out of healing so I can’t...oh wait a second. Big Blue, you said you ate your veggies? I have some.”

Alexandra pulls a handful of berries and after placing them on a table, she casts a spell and they turn into small pumpkins.

Good Pumpkins: 2d4 ⇒ (1, 2) = 3

I'd like to start by canvasing the room but the vines coming out of El Garrapata might be a problem.

"Umm, Big Blue, are you feeling OK? Those look a bit strange."

Alexandra runs over to the book and frantically flips through it.

"Maybe there is something in here."

I don't know if I can get any information from the bestiary on demons I was just reading. I can honestly say it's never come up before. Anyway, moving and casting Mind Thrust 2.

I flip the book over to show everyone a page with a big bird demon. It has Combat Reflexes. On another notes we can figure that despite the fact it is stitched together, if it is using feats it’s probably not mindless.

Before entering the next room, Alexandra pulls out a wand and cast Shield on herself. She whispers to everyone a warning as her nerves start to creep up on her.

"If Thurl was here he would hear us or we would hear him. Something is wrong here. Or maybe he is just lost in his work."

She then carefully scoots around the wall to get a better look at the book Thurl is interested in or at least puts on his bookshelf.

With the demons gone and the danger passed, the stone wall winks out of existence. Her breathing eventually returns to normal and she sheepishly straightens up.

Alex pulls out a wand and scrambles over the spilled drinks and broken cups. Her head cocks to the right as she stares at El Garrapata for a moment. After coming to grips with the state of him, she begins to use the wand to heal the many wounds he picked up in the last few minutes.

Oh so it’s a dome house? Oh right ‘angels’.

Anyway, I’ll take a second level spell slot recharge and before we go into the house I’ll cast Ward the Faithful and Mage Armor if they are down.

Averting her gaze from the body, Alexandra thinks up a strategy as she casts a few spells.

“OK, we can case the house and see if we can cut off escape routes and find the best place to enter. Then secure it room by room to isolate...where is Big Blue? Oh.”

She then runs in after him.
