Feeling somewhat better from their resting overnight, Grunyer begins the process of donning his armor with the reverence of a follower of Torag has for a finely crafted bit of gear. Not quite feeling his best though, he channels a bit of power to top up before inspecting his shield, making sure it's in top shape.

Lay on hands and refocus. Including topping off shield HP if required. I took a bit of damage through shield blocks so I'm sure there's some missing. Crafting +5

Once back in the dangerous areas, he looks at the available paths forward. There being an unexplored room right next to their egress point has him a bit unsettled so he moves to see if he can hear anything. These spaces have been full of undead so hopefully they aren't silent in their eternal watch.

Pneuferro knows these aren't natural. They are some kind of undead. Grotesque pieces of cast-off animal carcasses slowly stew into an overcooked mass at the bottom of a witch or hag's cauldron. The animals' magical organs — the eyes of the newt, the tongue of the frog — have already been removed, leaving only these sad remains. Nevertheless, animated by long exposure to magic, they sometimes peel free from the sides of the cauldron and wriggle out to freedom. The refuse moves in one giant mass, its skin blackened and crispy, leaving a trail of dripping grease and gravy. Its body is perpetually steaming hot, as though fresh from the pot, fat popping and sizzling. Anyone who comes within 15 feet of a Stinking Pile or begins their turn within a 15-foot emanation, must make a Fort DC 19 or become Sickened 1 (or 2 on a critical failure)

As the hot oil spatters next to him, Grunyer comments, "Things are spraying oil? Better get in their face. Well... faces I guess." Re-engaging with the closest mass, Grunyer tries to smash it into paste.

Yes, my brain failed me in identifying that it was a critical failure.

So, by my calculating, including Grunyer's reaction, that would be 14 damage. Noted

He quickly and mostly unconsciously uses the tactic he has used many times before.

Grunyer takes out his repair kit and lays his shield down to work on fixing the damaged sections. 60 attempts over an hour to repair 11 hp. That's one success. Handwave?
