Background

"This one carries tainted blood. Look at the tusks, the grey skin, and the color of the eyes. Take it and leave it in the wild like the animal it is".
While she didn't understand them when spoken, those were the first words that Kahjuna's young ears heard. And since the mother had died in childbirth, there was no one to argue, when the village priest suggested, and carried out this action.

The Wolf heard the cry and moved closer. What type of strange cub was this. It cried and gave away it's location, wha while it had fangs, where was it's fur. Perhaps this one was better off as a meal, than a potential pack member. Just as the female wolf bent to end the strangling cry, a sudden flash of light, and a booming sound interrupted the potential feast. Be Gone!

The crone had been ostracized from the village as well. Many years ago, she had been prone to fits, falling to the ground, and foaming at the mouth. And just like young Kahjuna, she had been taken it by another witch. The Crone raised the young orc blooded human, and while the upbringing was not easy, the young woman learned to survive. As the years went on the crone branded and tatoo'd many mystical symbols on the flesh of the young half-breed, and her appearance became intimidating indeed. Rumors spread throughout the land of the Evil Hag that dwelled in the caves outside the town. Most rumors and wild tales... but just enough based in truth to cause her to be greatly feared.

In time the Crone passed away, and Kahjuna was truly alone. The animals of the forest became her only friends, and her relationship with them became very close. While wondering through a little used cave she came across a side tunnel she'd never noticed before. From a hidden alcove came a strange chirping sound and a greenisg glow. Moving cautiously forward she found a person laying there... or at least half a person. The dust covered being lay against the wall the legs crushed beneath a fallen boulder. The being glowed with strange runes, and exposed metal cords extended from the broken body.

Khajuna visited this being often, and listened to his stories of other worlds not only only it other dimensions of this world, but of beings from the distant stars. He warned her that his time on this planet was soon coming to an end, and encouraged her to explore the skies, and to scour the world for signs of these beings. Finally one day Khajuna entered the cavern to find the being expired. He had scratched out a note to her telling her to go to a place known as Torch. That she might find answers there.

The woman followed this missive, and found herself, if not totally accepted, and least tolerated in the city. She lived outside it in a small cave, with her only friend a small toad, which she developed a close relationship with. Every night she watched the sky, and she listened to rumors in the taverns, and streets for any clues about the ones from above. She eventually made a friend of sorts in town. A might wizard who judged her for who she was not what she was, and who seemed intrigued by her magical talents. And now he was missing. Her and a few others she had become acquainted with now had to find him. Khonnir Baine I will find you. I have questions that still need answers.
